The Lima Art Museum offers an eclectic mix of traditional and modern Peruvian art.
In 1954, a small group of 25 business leaders and intellectuals formed an association, the Patrons of the Arts, with the mission of promoting culture and art in Peru.

The municipality of Lima donated the old Exposition Palace on the broad avenue, Paseo Colón.
The Exposition Palace is a grand work of art itself, designed by Antonio Leonardo in the Eiffel studio in France, and built between 1870 and 1871.
The museum is divided into nine galleries,a coffee shop, gift shop and one of Limas best art house cinemas.

Besides exhibiting Peru's best art — covering the colonial era to the present — the museum also offers a wide selection of furniture, woodcarvings and photos.
