Okay, first things first - IGNORE THE RIGS! This is pretty much a trial project to get Animation students used to the various facets of stop-motion; set and puppet design and making, actually animating the damned things, et cetera. Stop-motion, as I've found, is pretty much an uphill struggle. And totally worth it, when it's done. Now I've got a feel for it, I think if we had the time to shoot this again, it would be so much better; you can probably notice the standard of the movement improving over the course of the minute or so this lasts.
