Steve Smith/Max Roach Drum Solo - Performed by Richard Pells

This is one of my favourites drum solo's, as performed by Steve Smith in the style of Max Roach. I found it hidden away in the middle of a Vic Firth promotional video some years ago and set about working it out. Steve Smith makes it look like he's literally just wandered up to the kit and started playing around, but trying to get the playful/musical feel he achieves is so difficult...who says drum solo's can't be musical?!
