Transcript
00:00Unless you've been living under a rock the last several months, you already know about ESPN and WWE coming to an agreement for the premium live events on the new upcoming direct-to-consumer ESPN services app, streaming app, whatever they want to call it.
00:15Now, if you're just a WWE fan, this is probably not a great service to be grabbing because, true, until in 2026 when this agreement takes effect, we'd watch PLEs and such on Peacock for, what, $10, $20 a month? I don't even know anymore.
00:37Now, that is an increase. The service will be $30 a month, just like it's for Peacock, except Peacock is, you know, whatever, $10, $20.
00:51You get all the same content you get on Peacock, minus the, like, a month later replays of Raw and SmackDown.
00:59Now, if you're just a fan of WWE, this is probably not a, you know, great deal because, obviously, it's going to cost more.
01:09But if you're a huge sports fan, then this is probably a good deal.
01:14You're going to get, you know, you probably enjoy football, baseball, soccer, you know, basketball, and probably want to check out this WWE stuff.
01:21But, one thing that's not being really talked about is, some WWE premium live events will air on traditional ESPN networks via cable providers.
01:33Now, obviously, surely, WrestleMania is not going to be one of those, you know, PLEs that gets put out for current subscribers.
01:41Because, obviously, ESPN wants to make their money back because they're spending a buttload of money for this agreement.
01:46I don't remember exactly what it was, but it's up in the billions.
01:49And I believe this is a seven-year contract, or maybe five years.
01:55It's a long time.
01:56So, if you're a WWE fan, you might as well just either quit watching or prepare to pony up $7.50 a week to enjoy WWE PLEs.
02:08Now, you may be thinking, oh, I'll just go start watching AEW and their premium live events, pay-per-views, as they call them.
02:16Well, if you do that, they're pretty much doing monthly pay-per-views, and they are charging $50 a month for theirs.
02:24So, that's even worse than paying ESPN $30 for their new streaming service.
02:29So, kind of take your pick here.
02:31Me, I pick up for, like, WrestleMania and Royal Rumble, that's it.
02:37I don't care to watch Money in the Bank.
02:39I don't care to watch Elimination Chamber and all that stuff.
02:41I'll catch all those things.
02:43I'll catch the highlights, just like I do the weekly programming over on YouTube on the WWE channel.
02:49Anyways, let me know in the comments what you think about this.
02:50$30 too much?
02:51Let me know in the comments.
