00:00The market town of Tenterden is widely regarded as the jewel of the wheeled.
00:10Our walk begins at the Recreation Ground Road car park, where we get Ali into his sling.
00:16With slings, don't forget the TICS acronym. Tight, in view at all times,
00:22close enough to kiss, keep chin off the chest and supported back.
00:27Okay, we're done? Yep. And we're ready to go.
00:33Head out the car park and with the Recreation Ground on your right, walk straight towards the busy High Street.
00:41Keep going along the High Street, passing the Lemon Tree, a 14th century timbered cafe.
00:47After 30 metres, turn left into a passageway called Bell's Lane.
00:53With views of the church tower behind, go straight ahead past pretty cottages and a new build development.
01:00Then, over a bridge.
01:05Keep ahead on the tarmac path next to a tall hedge on the left.
01:13After a quarter of a mile, reach a road opposite Tenterden Cricket Club.
01:20So it's not quite the hallowed grounds of Lourdes, the Oval or Edgbaston, but Tenterden Cricket Club does have a claim to fame for any of you cricket badgers out there.
01:29The former England bowler, Monty Panesar, once played here and got hit for six by a 15 year old local batsman.
01:36Now, for our walk, we're just going to head off onto some rough terrain.
01:39So any prams that are suited to off road, this is perfect for it.
01:43Ali's all snug in his sling, so we're all still good to head on.
01:48Take a sharp left along the rough road, passing Hope's Grove Nurseries, turning left immediately before the sign to Belcott Manor Farm.
01:56As you can see, the track is murder on white trainers.
02:00Continue between a fenced off meadow and a hedge for a quarter of a mile.
02:06So, despite all the crunching on the snow and through all the frozen ice, the little man's still asleep.
02:17Doesn't seem to be bothering him one bit, is it? Is it, Ali?
02:23The track goes through a belt of trees with a stream in a deep gorge, then gradually uphill to an estate with a converted oast house.
02:31Go straight across Tildengill Road to a footpath sign, then ahead on a stone path between gardens and straight across Cruttenden Close.
02:43Continue ahead on a tarmac path between fences and straight over another estate road, then over a footbridge, across a stream and up some steps.
02:58Follow the track with the recreation ground on the left.
03:00Turn left alongside the main road and you're back in the centre of town.
03:09So we come back full circle, back at the lemon tree.
03:12Shoes nice and muddy and we're going to warm up with some well-earned refreshments.
