00:00:50It was three years at Missouri, but his total college career, Rondé, 53 starts,
00:00:5566 touchdown passes, led the MAAC with over 3,000 pass yards in 2024.
00:01:02Yeah, I mean, 12,000 yards passing over his college career is pretty impressive.
00:01:07Now, he came in here as probably not the guy they were expecting to be the challenger.
00:01:11Michael Pratt was that guy, but he's been hurt the entirety of camp
00:01:14and really haven't seen much from him.
00:01:16So he's going to get an opportunity here in preseason to get some good looks.
00:01:19He's handing off again the right for the third down.
00:01:22His best passing yards game in college, he threw for over 400 yards at Missouri,
00:01:28and it was against LSU back in 2020.
00:01:31Yeah, that deserves a while.

00:01:34You know, one thing about him, and you'll notice this, he's got a very high IQ.
00:01:38So when he gets an opportunity to throw this football, just pay attention to how he processes.
00:01:43He does not have a big arm.
00:01:44He's not like Kyle Trask with Baker Mayfield who can zip balls in the tight windows.
00:01:48But he is very good at finding the open receivers and delivering the on-time football.
00:01:53He'll be tested here with a quick toss of third down 11 for Ryan Miller.

00:04:06I could just go out here each and every week this season and give it my all, man,
00:04:10and see what we're in at the season.
00:04:12So last year was a sensation, man.
00:04:15We all got to watch you in the preseason.
00:04:17Knew that there was something special there.
00:04:19But once that season got rolling and you turned into the player that you knew you could be,
00:04:25what was it that made your transition to the NFL so comfortable?
00:04:29Just being there, you know, it's always different when you're coming in
00:04:33and transitioning from college to the NFL.
00:04:36I mean, you're just leaning on the older guys that was in my room
00:04:39to pretty much give me the confidence to go out there and know that I can play at this level.
00:04:44But just being able to go out there, coaches throwing me in the game, trusting me,
00:04:47and then me just being present and when my number is called,
00:04:51go out there and do what I do for my team.
00:04:53Y'all had a really, really robust running game last year,
00:04:56not only with you but with Rashad White, Sean Tucker, when he got his opportunity.
00:05:01Tell me what you think it is, whether it's the offensive line, whether it's the play calling.
00:05:05What is it that really sprung that success in the running game?
00:05:08Because you don't know this, but Tampa struggled on the football for years.
00:05:12But when you got here, it really exploded.
00:05:14I mean, just trusting them guys up front, getting the communication and practice,
00:05:19and that's being able to go out there and execute at a high level.
00:05:22But like I said, in that room, we play for one another.
00:05:25We all love each other, and when our number is called,
00:05:27we go out there and have each other back.
00:05:29How has Josh Grissel changed anything, or is it the same?
00:05:32Y'all looking to have the same type of scheme this year,
00:05:35or is it making any adjustments with the new play calling?
00:05:39I mean, you know, he put his bits and pieces on it,
00:05:41but just being able to know that he's going to put us in the right position
00:05:45and make plays, and we're just going to follow his lead and go out there and execute it.
00:05:49Do you get a sense how fascinated everybody in Tampa is with you as a player?
00:05:55Did you check that last year?
00:05:57I mean, yeah, pretty much the first game when they started the Bucky Champs.
00:06:02It was pretty crazy, but just being able to know that you got the city behind you,
00:06:05it's a blessing, man, so each and every time that I go out here on this field,
00:06:09I'm going to give it my all.
00:06:11I say this all the time.
00:06:12You remind me of my roommate my first year at work done.
00:06:15He had a heck of a couple of years here in Tampa.

00:06:37Sixth-round draft pick Nick Jackson, who you had mentioned earlier,
00:06:40had a sack a little bit earlier.
00:06:42The free agent from Iowa, the rookie that put them in a hole.
00:06:47They have since tried to dig their way out of it.
00:06:49Nick Jackson is an interesting player.
00:06:51He wasn't even listed in the top 100 of players coming out at the position last year,
00:06:56but Todd Bowles told us all he does is shoot gaps, make plays,
00:06:59and he's always in the right place at the right time.
00:07:01So, again, this is a position behind Levante Dayton,
00:07:04the presumed starter, Savaski-Adennis, that is really kind of shallow.
00:07:08So he has an opportunity here to make a name for himself.
00:07:11It's deflected, and it's there for an intersection at the 40-yard line.
00:07:16It was deflected, and there is Nick Jackson once again.
00:07:20Now that helps.
00:07:22That definitely helps.
00:07:24Pressure burst pipes, Chris.
00:07:26And in the second half here, we're seeing a lot of pressure from this Bucs defense.
00:07:29Yes, they're playing against backups,
00:07:31but these guys are taking their opportunities and running for it.

00:07:36The defense, after that interception, they set the offense up at the 40-yard line.
00:07:49John Bullock, rookie from Nebraska, deflects it, and Nick Jackson comes away with the interception
00:07:54after having a sack earlier in the drive.
00:07:56Yeah, the two guys that we mentioned earlier, Bullock and Nick Jackson,
00:08:01making an impact play there is obviously one area the Bucs desperately need to improve on.
00:08:06They had the fifth fewest interceptions a year ago with only seven on the season,
00:08:11and that would definitely help get more plays like that from this defense.
00:08:15And Owen Wright, the target, the pass incomplete, by Connor Bazelak.
00:08:22Josh Broussard, we've been talking about, if you weren't with us in the first half,
00:08:32first time calling plays in an NFL game, it's part of the passing game last year.

00:12:04a guy that I know that they're looking heavily at to be a backup.

00:13:30I got to be good in technique each and every play, so, you know,
00:13:33when I go out on the practice field, you know,
00:13:35try to be perfect at every single rep.
00:13:40Well, here's my card on Jacob Harris.
00:13:43He's really impressive.
00:13:44Smooth, twitchy, has that ability to play inside and outside.
00:13:47We've seen that, and I think what really impresses me
00:13:50is his awareness, his instinct.
00:13:51You get on the practice field,
00:13:53and you see guys that are just always in the right place
00:13:56at the right time.
00:13:56You can tell he works at his game,
00:13:58and I mentioned earlier that we haven't had a true corner
00:14:01play this position since probably Sean Murphy Bunting
00:14:03a couple of years ago.
00:14:04It's been Antoine Winfield Jr., it was Christian Izian,
00:14:08and then it was Tykee Smith.
00:14:09All of those guys are safeties in this defense,
00:14:11but he's really kind of set in a different mold
00:14:13for the position here in Tampa,
00:14:15and I know that Todd is really,
00:14:17really impressed with what he's seen from him so far.
00:14:20Yeah, Bunting, outstanding winning two of the Bucs,
00:14:22that playoff, that postseason run.
00:14:25Some impressive numbers, and this is an impressive run.

00:21:46and he's like, I'm kind of annoyed at him that none of this is phasing him.
00:21:49He's a rookie in the NFL.
00:21:51Obviously, he's played a long time in college football,
00:21:53so he has experience under center.
00:21:55But he's unflappable, and that's a good trait for the position.
00:22:01He's got a bachelor's degree at Missouri in finance,
00:22:03an Indiana liberal arts degree, and from Bowling Green, an MBA.
00:22:08That's a lot of education there.

00:22:14So, how about Grisard?
00:22:15She get along just fine.
00:22:17Battling for a backup spot, a roster spot somewhere, as Tucker carries.

00:22:32but as we mentioned before, without Josh Williams up,
00:22:35there's only two active running backs out here,
00:22:38and we've seen all night that they want to emphasize this run game
00:22:41and continue to evolve some of these young offensive linemen,
00:22:45and Tucker's having himself a good night.
00:22:47You know, we mentioned with White and Irving, the draft picks,
00:22:50Jason Light, the general manager,
00:22:52all but three of the starters, the 22-plus starters,
00:22:58to count Nickelback position.

00:27:58And, you know, I think I've seen a lot of growth just from the unit as a whole
