Classic Margarita Recipe with the Perfect Ratio
Transcript
00:00Guys, we're gonna make a classic margarita.
00:02It's authentic, it's inside of the Taco Tuesday cookbook
00:05and in tequila o'clock.
00:06First things first, if you like a salted rim,
00:08make sure to grab a lime wedge
00:11and rub it all around the rim of your glass.
00:14Let me know in the comments
00:15if you are a salty rim person or not.
00:18Personally, I am not.
00:20And then I'm going to take that rim
00:22and dip it in my margarita salt.
00:24You can use fine salt or porcer salt.
00:27You're gonna need a shaker and a jigger.
00:30A jigger is a little measuring tool
00:32which gives you the exact amount.
00:34It's super important with cocktails
00:35so you know how much you're adding.
00:37Now, I'm starting out with tequila.
00:40Tequila, you wanna use something that's good and tastes good.
00:44The better the ingredients, the better your margarita.
00:47I'm gonna measure out one and a half ounces of tequila.
00:50Now, margaritas are kind of personal
00:52and there's lots of ratios out there.
00:54Now, this is what I like.
00:55I learned these ratios in Mexico City
00:58in a tequila bar tour.
00:59You're also gonna need Cointreau.
01:00Cointreau is an orange liqueur.
01:03You can also get triple sec to make a margarita.
01:06That's how you know it's not a cocktail.
01:08A margarita always has triple sec or Cointreau.
01:11We're also gonna add one and a half ounces.
01:15And then limes, always fresh for a margarita.
01:18So, I'm gonna slice it in half and juice it.
01:22If you have one of these little tools, put the lime facing down
01:26and then I squeeze it right into my jigger and measure it out.
01:30Some limes have more juice than others.
01:33One and a fourth ounce of lime juice.
01:35Now, personally, I think the margarita is great as is.
01:42I rarely add simple syrup.
01:44But if you want yours on the sweeter side, we'll add simple syrup.
01:48Simple syrup is just water and sugar.
01:50And in a one-to-one ratio, you can buy it or make it.
01:53We're adding half an ounce.
01:54I'm gonna put on the shaker, close our lid and shake it.
01:57Now, you always wanna shake it more than you think you need
02:02because shaking your cocktail not only combines
02:06the ingredients that you added, but it also dilutes
02:09some of the ice and gives you more volume.
02:13The shaker lids have a little cap.
02:15You can always pour some in the cap and taste it.
02:21It's really great.
02:21And then you can pour your margarita with the ice as is,
02:26or if you're like me and like fresh ice,
02:32and then we pour a drink.
02:36Slice a fresh lime wedge and serve it right on the side.
02:42So good.
02:43It's five o'clock somewhere.
02:44It's the kilo o'clock.
02:48The measurement right below the video.
02:49Cheers.
