Ukraine’s military intelligence (HUR) has confirmed a daring drone strike that destroyed one of Russia’s most advanced radar stations in occupied Crimea. The 98L6 Yenisei radar, crucial to both the S-500 and S-400 air defense systems, was targeted by the elite “Prymary” (Ghosts) division in a precision operation. HUR said the hit dealt a “significant blow” to Moscow’s defensive capabilities on the peninsula.
The strike also damaged a Russian fast assault landing craft and two other radar stations during a wave of coordinated attacks. Crimea, seized by Russia in 2014, has seen escalating Ukrainian strikes since the 2022 full-scale invasion, as Kyiv seeks to Cripple Moscow’s logistics and air defense networks ahead of key offensives. The loss of the Yenisei radar could leave Russian forces more vulnerable to further Ukrainian operations across the Black Sea region.
