00:00Egypt and Sudan discussed the Nile River and cooperation during a visit to the Cairo by Sudanese Prime Minister Kamil Al-Tabib Idris on Thursday.
00:10Alongside was Egyptian Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouli, who also expressed complete rejection of the unilateral steps that Ethiopia is taking with regards to the Nile River.
00:20I have affirmed the complete rejection of the unilateral steps that Ethiopia is taking and the need to comply with the principles of international law in that the Nile River is no exception to the other rivers on which the rules and principles that we call for are applied,
00:37as well as the importance of coordination, consultation and examining of the project carried out on this river in a way that avoids causing damage to all the riparian countries.
00:50I can say with all confidence that there is agreement and that there is consensus in all these issues, the national, regional and international issues that have come up today.
01:07And we will implement these issues through mechanism as well as joint technical and political committees between the two countries.
01:14Egypt has long opposed the construction of the dam because it will reduce the country's share of Nile River waters, a key source for most of the Egyptian agriculture and is more than 100 million people.
01:30Egypt hosts the largest number of Sudanese refugees from the war with over 1.5 million people who fled north across the border.
01:37Over 7 million have been displaced internally as the war and gulf much of the country.
