00:00Hello all and welcome back to the channel. We're still in the middle or end of the breeding season
00:05and a lot is still going on. Once again we will focus on all the breeding that's going on with
00:11the softbills and the finches. Even though i still expect to get many more chicks this year
00:16it seems to be the best breeding season for me ever. But let's begin and take a look of what's
00:21going on right now. We'll begin in my big aviary 20 meters long and at the moment with more than
00:28100 or 150 birds. The flock of village viewers is really occupying this aviary in a very fantastic
00:34manner. Despite they unfortunately ruin a lot of plants they make a fantastic part of the aviary.
00:41Beautiful big birds constantly singing and building new nests all over which really gives it an exotic
00:48look. The birds already provided one chick this year and i know both that my females are having
00:54chicks in the nest at the moment. It's very clear to me at the moment that they are consuming much
00:59more frozen insects than they usually do. It will be very interesting to see how big the flock is
01:04when the autumn comes. Other weaver species i have in the aviary is the yellow crown bishop. As you can
01:10see here i have a small flock of them and it keeps growing for each year and also this year they succeeded
01:16in bringing up several new chicks. For whatever reason some of the chicks are thrown out of the
01:21nests while small but perhaps it's due to insufficient providing of insects, frozen or live food. But
01:31luckily most chicks survive and they keep rearing new chicks all the time. Even though i got chicks
01:37from the guldian finches, the society finches, the red-floated parrot finches and the red-eared parrot
01:44finches i haven't been as successful with the finches this year as i would have hoped. But there's still time,
01:50so perhaps they'll breed later or wait until they're inside during the winter. Contrary to this,
01:56my yellow canary birds and my red mosaic canary birds keep providing lots of very nice chicks and
02:03keeps filling the entire aviary and my birdhouse with beautiful song. It's such a joy all the time.
02:11I moved two of my pairs from indoor to outdoor aviary when they stopped breeding to give them a summer
02:17break but they actually just began again so they are breeding still. For me a first year with the
02:23focus on different kind of canary birds it has been very successful. Another pair of birds who really
02:30enjoyed the summertime outdoor and enjoyed bathing all the time is my pair of red-crested cardinals,
02:35also known as brazilian cardinals. As my indoor pair of red-crested cardinals keep breeding,
02:40my outdoor pair have made a lot of failed attempts because they couldn't find a place to build the nest.
02:45Both last year and this year they kept building nests where it was impossible and kept dropping eggs
02:51from high above the ground. Finally they accepted a nest I put 3.5 meters above the ground.
02:58They incubated the eggs and now successfully they have reared two very nice chicks who fledged the nest
03:04yesterday. Surely a huge joy after almost two years of failed attempts. My loose and bleeding heart
03:10doves are very nice ground doves have been very slow in mating up this year but finally it seems they
03:17are bonding right now so perhaps they will try this autumn and if not they will begin the next spring.
03:22I keep several pairs of budges both in my aviary with chickens and cockatoo and some breeds indoor.
03:30And as you can see here my indoor pair of budges just got a very big clutch of a total of eight chicks.
03:37They all keep growing very rapidly so I'm quite confident that the parents will succeed in rearing
03:43the entire clutch. It's actually quite interesting to follow these parents and how much food they need to
03:49eat each day to rear so many chicks. Luckily it's quite easy to provide extra seeds for the seed eaters
03:56when they have chicks. It is much more difficult to provide the necessary light food or frozen food for
04:02the soft bills several times during day when they have chicks. And speaking of soft bills I have three
04:08pairs of pick new ovens in my big aviary. They already provided several chicks this year and only a few
04:13days ago I saw a nest with three new small chicks. So it seems this will also be a very good year for
04:22the breeding of robins. Here we have the male of the northern cardinal. His female is presently on
04:28eggs again for the fourth time but all previous times they have been blank. My breeding pair of blue
04:33yet glossy starlings are at the moment indoor and this seems to fit them very good. A failed attempt
04:39previously this year but now they have this chick which grows rapidly. Once again my biggest concern
04:44is if I can provide enough live food and frozen food for the chicks who keep growing. But luckily
04:50so far it goes very good. Also my pair of white-cheeked turacos had one failed attempt previously this
04:58year but they are on eggs again and hopefully they will succeed. It could be very fun and a huge success for
05:05me if I could have a chicks of the turacos as well. Another first time breed for me would be the black
05:10siskins but luckily it seems they have chicks high above the ground at the moment. They keep going in
05:16and out after it seems they incubated them for some weeks. So hopefully I will see chicks soon. So as you
05:24can see and hear and as always it seems a lot of very interesting things goes around when you have so
05:31many birds. I really hope you enjoyed the video, the birds, the bird sounds and the entire breeding
05:36update and as always please let me know if you have any comments or questions I love to answer them.
05:42For the remaining part of this video I'll let you enjoy the beautiful sounds and the song
05:47of the canary birds which fills the entire garden and the every these days. Take care.
