00:01Previously on Project Runway.
00:03To help inspire you, we've brought two very special people.
00:06Mommy!
00:08These individuals will serve as your clients.
00:11I can also play up on a little shoulder action, too.
00:14I got you, Mom.
00:15We have the wedding, my birthday,
00:17and the graduation thing at the school.
00:19She is all over the place.
00:21Erin, how many times have we seen this coat?
00:23Put it on right now!
00:28You look badass.
00:29Yeah.
00:30Your son really did a great job.
00:32It looks like a real designer dress.
00:36Rick, congratulations.
00:38You're the winner of the challenge.
00:40You will each receive $25,000 from AARP.
00:46It doesn't really suit her.
00:48The silhouette is just wrong,
00:50and it looks like there's a pin in it.
00:52There's too many messages.
00:54It looks sloppy.
00:55I'm sorry, Jenny, that means you're out.
00:58I'm a little shocked that you didn't win that last challenge.
01:10I was running around screaming, munging for president.
01:13That doesn't mean it's a total loss to me,
01:15because I want my relationship back with my mom,
01:17which is more important than $25,000.
01:19I'm very grateful right now.
01:21I feel like the inner munging is about to start really coming out like that beast in me.
01:26How do you feel, Corey?
01:27Being safe.
01:28I did not want to be up there in front of the judges.
01:31I thought they were going to hate the print.
01:33The competition is down to the wire.
01:35Fashion week is right around the corner.
01:36I'm a very strong designer, and I'm hoping that the judges can finally see it.
01:41We got a note.
01:42Hi, designers.
01:43For your next challenge, be sure to have your heads out of the clouds.
01:46After all, you just can't wing it and win it.
01:49Go meet Tim and a special guest.
01:51And remember, the sky is still the limit for all you.
01:54This is anyone's game.
01:55I'll see you back on the runway, Heidi.
01:57Nuh-uh.
01:58I hope we go hotter ballooning.
02:00I'm thinking something with feathers.
02:02Like, what if they take us to like a bird sanctuary and we have to get inspired by birds?
02:06If the birds are large and they're ostriches, I am effed.
02:09Sky diving?
02:20How about this incredible view that we have?
02:22What a trip.
02:23I know.
02:24Amazing.
02:25I'm so excited for you to meet the designers.
02:27Love it.
02:30Helicopters.
02:31I don't like heights.
02:34I love the project roaming helicopters.
02:35I do too.
02:36Why did it take us 15 seasons to figure out we have one?
02:39No wonder Tim is always on time.
02:41He has a helicopter.
02:42I need one of those.
02:44Good morning, designers.
02:45Morning.
02:46I am delighted and thrilled to introduce you to Ann Fullenwider, editor-in-chief of Marie Claire Magazine.
02:52Welcome, Ann.
02:53Thank you, Tim.
02:54Hi.
02:55Hi, designers.
02:56Hi.
02:57At Marie Claire, we celebrate powerful women.
02:59Whether it's fashion, beauty, advice, or news, we stress the importance of making a woman feel confident and powerful.
03:05So, designers, with that in mind, today we've decided to send you all on a power trip.
03:11So, we're sending you in a helicopter to get an aerial view of New York City.
03:16Woo!
03:17Woo!
03:18Woo!
03:19Yay!
03:20While you're in the air, absorb everything around you.
03:23We want you to use this unique perspective to influence your next look.
03:27This is a city of power players, everyone.
03:29So, for this challenge, we want you to create an editorial look for a powerful woman.
03:35And let me stress to you that an editorial look is not every day.
03:39Designers think bold, high fashion, and drama.
03:42We, at Marie Claire, are enlisting you to help us out.
03:45The winning look of this challenge will be featured in a spread of Marie Claire Magazine.
03:49Oh, my God.
03:50This is a huge opportunity for all of you.
03:51I won one already.
03:52So, if I could win two of those and be Marie Claire in repeat, then the Marie Claire readers would start to get used to me.
03:57And then, maybe Marie Claire might call me back to do more stuff.
03:59So, designers, after you land, you will have 30 minutes to sketch.
04:03And then, we're going to mood where you will have a budget of $300.
04:07And you have one day for this challenge.
04:10It's a little nerve-wracking because an editorial look does take a while to conceive.
04:15Good luck, designers.
04:16I'll see you tomorrow on the runway.
04:18Bye. Thank you.
04:24Oh, it's like a little, like...
04:33So, I'm taking photos of architecture, like, different buildings, colorful buildings.
04:45There was red, yellow.
04:47I might have to show that in my look.
04:52I start to kind of go off in my little world.
04:54And I should be, like, talking and, like, giggling with everyone and planning.
04:56Oh, my God, I'm having fun.
04:57But I'm, like, gone.
04:58I'm, like, somewhere else.
04:59Which is usually when I do my best work.
05:03That was so cool.
05:09Such a cute little landing.
05:13Oh.
05:15That was so cute.
05:18I'm not taking any car anymore.
05:20From now on, just helicopter for me, please.
05:28You can sit next to me.
05:29I don't want you to see what I'm doing.
05:33Oh, my.
05:34Look at that lighting.
05:35I had my little moment of questioning everything.
05:38And I was a little insecure.
05:40But I'm feeling really positive about myself again and kind of being like,
05:43all right, let's show them that I'm good again.
05:46My brain is going a little gothy.
05:48You know, the city can be a dark place.
05:49My inspiration isn't as bubbly and colorful as everyone else is.
05:52I'm envisioning pops of color.
05:56I don't know where I'm going to place them.
05:58But I do know that I want things to kind of protrude off the body.
06:02All right, designers.
06:03Sketching time is up.
06:04Let's head off to mood.
06:05I actually do always want to do yellow because I do always think of like yellow cabs in New York.
06:17But I really want to push myself with like color choice.
06:20One more.
06:21Can I please get one yard of this?
06:25And then can you bring it down for me, please?
06:28I get a silver fabric.
06:29I pick up some neoprene.
06:31I'm envisioning this like super powerful woman that kind of looks like a superhero.
06:35Awesome.
06:37Do you know where I find like spandex lace?
06:39Fifteen minutes, everyone.
06:41I'll have four.
06:42I'm envisioning like a see-through lace dress.
06:45There's nothing wrong with a little exposed pum pum on the runway.
06:48It's supposed to be editorial.
06:49All right.
06:51Thank you so much.
06:52All right.
06:53Back to the workroom designers.
06:54Merci Hude.
07:07Cory, did you buy all the leather section?
07:10I buy every color.
07:11I like this one.
07:12The lime green one?
07:13Yeah.
07:18Good heavens.
07:19There's so many fewer of you.
07:21No, it's weird.
07:22I'm coming in on the earlier side for critiques because I want you all to have more time to evolve.
07:28Your models will not be in until between 8.30 and 9.
07:31You have until 1 o'clock tonight.
07:33And please take advantage of the Brother sewing room.
07:36I'm definitely thinking outside of the box on this one.
07:46This floor is going to be up.
07:48They just have seen me do very tailored, very well polished looks.
07:52So I kind of wanted to take a risk with this using this treatment that hasn't really been seen before.
07:57This definitely has to work for me.
07:59I'm hoping it doesn't look like a murder scene.
08:01It's a bloody mess over there.
08:06I think I'm the only one here that has not won a challenge.
08:14I was brought back by Tim.
08:16And honestly, I just want to make him proud.
08:19Well, what you're making today might get you a win. You never know.
08:24I am here to work and to show him the best garments that I can create.
08:26I don't want to shoot myself in the foot.
08:28No.
08:29Especially with the big jacket.
08:30Oh, my God.
08:31I need to move on, you know.
08:33Forget about it.
08:34This is a new week.
08:35It's the past.
08:36This is a new day.
08:37Exactly.
08:38Quiet.
08:39Focused.
08:40So, Rick, tell me about your inspiration.
08:44I'm gaining inspiration from the Statue of Liberty.
08:47I'm going to use this white stretch denim underneath.
08:51And then the top layer is silk cotton voyeur.
08:55Where is the wall?
08:56I'm doing this dye treatment to it.
08:58Let's go look at it.
08:59Let's check it out.
09:00I love this.
09:02The fact I'm crazy about it.
09:03Oh, great.
09:04This is stunning.
09:06And it's so personal and personalized.
09:10What Rick has done, I do to my stuff at home.
09:13But see, I have a certain way of doing it where it actually looks dope.
09:17Majing.
09:18I wanted to do something that was strong, very close to my African side.
09:23Uh-huh.
09:24Edgy and interesting.
09:25I mean, frankly, you have an edgy, interesting textile assemblage here.
09:29Mm-hmm.
09:30Sewing a knit to a woven is really difficult.
09:33Yeah, I'm challenging myself.
09:35Just be really mindful and watchful during the fitting.
09:40Yes.
09:41I'm mixing denim with tweed, and tweed had a tendency to stretch.
09:45I have to make sure this fits the body in all the right places.
09:49Cornelius.
09:50Hi, Tim.
09:51But is that a golf course?
09:52It's a golf course.
09:53You saw it from the helicopter.
09:54Yeah.
09:55I saw pops of color that were really bright.
09:57So I wanted to mix colors and create a textile within a textile.
10:01Okay.
10:02I love what you're doing here.
10:03And I had these colors, but it kind of looked like cheese and ketchup.
10:06So...
10:08I wanted to have, like, a strong cap sleeve and segment it.
10:12Bear with me.
10:13Mm-hmm.
10:14You have such interesting and smart seam lines happening in this dress.
10:19Mm-hmm.
10:20Why aren't you letting them guide you with this layering treatment?
10:23Get rid of these amoebas.
10:25Right.
10:26Because I could totally, instead of having it so tiny, have it come like this.
10:29Exactly.
10:30And then...
10:31Think how beautiful that would be.
10:32You're right.
10:33The actual silhouette.
10:34When the model walks the wrong way, all this piece is going to be inflated in the back.
10:40If you take this engineering away, is it just a basic dress?
10:47Hmm.
10:49Well, I see a skyline.
10:51Yes.
10:52New York City is beautiful and crazy at the same time.
10:56Yes.
10:57So the top is a strong part, and this is, like, the lines of New York City.
11:01The bottom of this dress, it'll be a short and a fun, and it's gonna go a little bit longer in the back.
11:06I'm going to use this fabric.
11:08Have you ever used a print?
11:09I don't think so.
11:10I don't think so, either.
11:11Pushing yourself.
11:12I have to change it a little bit.
11:13You do.
11:14I'm excited.
11:15When I was watching the city, I got a dark, gothy superhero vibe.
11:18Mm-hmm.
11:19Because I'm looking over the city, and it's, like, a protecting vibe.
11:21Mm-hmm.
11:22And it's denim.
11:23Coated.
11:24Yeah, it's coated denim.
11:25It's a shoulder shape that I'm gonna place kind of right here and do zippers around it.
11:28So you're building up the shoulder.
11:29But in no way, shape, or form like the one I did before.
11:34It's more like a wing because we were flying.
11:36Okay.
11:37Then underneath, I wanted to do a full lace dress and then double layer it where it's inappropriate,
11:42so that there's no business.
11:44It's certainly editorial.
11:46Okay.
11:47But I'm worried about time.
11:49Yeah, me too.
11:50So do it.
11:51Okay.
11:52Thank you, Dexter.
11:53Thanks, Tim.
11:54So I plan on doing a jumpsuit and a jacket.
11:57I want it to be a rain jacket, so I grab textiles that are rain proof.
12:01You're using all three of these?
12:02Yes.
12:03Well, I also grab, like, a lot of different fabrics.
12:05Like this one, and this one, and then this is a...
12:09Did you buy the yellow fabric?
12:11Yeah, just in case.
12:12Just in case of what?
12:14You need to limit your range of textiles.
12:19You can't have everything and the kitchen sink.
12:21Tim is right.
12:22So I'm gonna try to switch basically my whole idea around.
12:25I have to re-pattern the whole thing.
12:27So it's a lot of work, and I have, like, six hours left.
12:31All right, I'm intrigued.
12:32Talk to me.
12:33I love the feeling of the helicopter.
12:35This sort of thing came into my head as sort of, like, wobble thing.
12:38So I kind of wanted to do, like, an exaggerated dropped waist vest.
12:42Oh, this is a vest.
12:43Yes.
12:44But she's not wearing anything underneath it, right?
12:46So this is gonna be, like, the undergarment.
12:47I'm thinking of doing kind of, like, a little turtleneck sleeve shirt to here.
12:50Oh, I see.
12:53What about this pastel pink says power?
13:00Why have you taken her figure away?
13:02I don't know.
13:03I just, like, like the idea that, like, being a woman, you don't have to be, like...
13:06It doesn't have to be, like, form-fitted.
13:08I mean, I don't disagree with you.
13:10Yeah.
13:11I'm just thinking about how this is going to appear very boxy, kind of milk cartony.
13:18You are incredibly creative, incredibly innovative.
13:21Yeah.
13:22And as far as I'm concerned, you've been on the bottom way too many times for my comfort level.
13:28Whatever's going on with this piglet dress needs to be changed.
13:33But I literally have no idea what to do.
13:35I think you have a number of design issues you really need to contend with.
13:41Panic is kind of just setting it right now.
13:43I don't know what I'm doing.
13:44I think you have a number of design issues you really need to contend with.
13:58This pink jacket looks like student work. And it's not reading, you know, editorial.
14:06I would like you to just ask, what's going to make this smashing? What's going to make this win? What's going to put me on the top?
14:12Yeah.
14:13And what will put you on the top, I can already answer. It's you just being you.
14:19Thank you, Aaron.
14:20Yeah.
14:21I'm so kidding.
14:23All right, designers. I am very excited about what you're doing.
14:26You're all being very ambitious. Watch the fitting carefully and I will see you in the morning.
14:33Thank you, everyone.
14:34Thank you, Aaron.
14:35Bye.
14:37So this is really cute.
14:42That tweed, child.
14:43Tweed is nasty.
14:44It was stretching while I was sewing it, so I'm a little bit nervous to see exactly how good it fits my model.
14:53The more I'm looking at this dress, it's just looking like a band-aid, a little bit of labia going on, and a piglet.
14:59Um, Dexter, do you have a model list with their measurements? I'm starting all over again.
15:05It's five minutes until the model comes in and this thing needs to go in the trash.
15:10Hey, girl.
15:12Let's try this one on you.
15:14Oh, my God, this thing is hideous. Now I'm doing planned, like, a D.
15:22Okay, perfect.
15:24It's going to be a little bit loose. I want the whole silhouette to be a little bit flowy.
15:27Like, I want them fitted, but, like, not too fitted.
15:30Okay, here we go.
15:31I have nothing made. It's just an idea and a hope and a prayer and a dream.
15:35I'm going to make it really long, and in the morning I'm going to cut it and finish it.
15:38Thank God I'm looking around the room and a lot of people are in the same boat.
15:43My model actually inspired me. She, like, had faith in me.
15:47I start a simple A-line dress with, like, a metallic tweed.
15:52Oh, I like this.
15:54Yeah, I feel so much better.
15:55Well, you know, this textile is beautiful by itself, so it doesn't take much.
16:01It's the end of the day, and it's, like, damn.
16:05My garment, it just doesn't look great.
16:08What are you talking about, Natalia?
16:10I just feel like this is clashing.
16:13Everyone else's looks okay, whereas mine looks like a costume.
16:17It's an editorial look.
16:18I just wish I stuck to my original idea.
16:23No, Natalia, stop crying. You're fine.
16:24I can do the little facing. That's it.
16:26Natalia is an amazing designer, and she always tells me to just stick with my gut.
16:31And I think that she needs to stick with hers.
16:37Natalia and I, like, our personalities just don't mix.
16:39But I'm looking at her, and I'm watching her break down, and it's breaking my heart.
16:40Here, keep pushing through. Don't let them see you break.
16:46Thanks.
16:48I'm literally spiraling into an abyss.
16:51I feel like I'm going home.
16:52I didn't think that this competition was going to be this difficult.
17:03Now I just have to finish my jacket, and then finish the sleeves, and then the other thing I have to do, and the other thing I have to do.
17:17I have an editorial look. It's really on the dark side, though.
17:21I don't want to send a boring look down the runway. On the same note, I don't want to get eaten alive by Zac Posen.
17:26So I'm trying to just keep it cute.
17:29Good morning, designers.
17:30Good morning.
17:32Your models will be in very shortly.
17:34You will have an hour to send them to the Sally Beauty Studio and the Mary Kay Color and Design Studio.
17:39Use the Just Fab wall very thoughtfully, and see you a little later.
17:45Thank you, everyone.
17:46I feel better today, but I'm still nervous. I wish I had more time to redesign what I did, but at this point, I just want to get it done.
17:57I am excited about this look. It's very interesting, and it's very intricate, and I'm pretty sure it's very editorial.
18:07This has to be the comeback moment for me, so I have to make it work.
18:12Ooh!
18:13Hey, good morning.
18:14Hi.
18:15Hi.
18:16Hi.
18:17Hi.
18:18I'm coming in two minutes.
18:19I'm coming, too.
18:20Katrina, I don't know how, but I got the dress done. I'm going to have you try it on in two seconds.
18:23Are you wearing black underwear?
18:24Yeah.
18:25Are they cute and lacy?
18:27My kind of girl.
18:29Ooh, wait. This actually looks really dope.
18:34I'm feeling really good about this. I can't believe that I went from one of the worst things I've ever started to create to this in that amount of time.
18:40Oh, my God. This looks so much better.
18:44We're Sally Beauty. We'll always make you beautiful.
18:46It's a long, kind of, like, halter dress, very ethereal, so I kind of just want to pull it back.
18:50Keep all of it loose like this. I want to add a little soft, soft weight.
18:54I trust your gut.
18:57I like the idea of her having, like, a Jessica Rabbit one-eye swoop.
19:00Sure.
19:01Just contain this into something really clean and chic. I love that.
19:05I was thinking maybe, like, a bowl cut.
19:08I had StreetStyles.com.
19:10Yeah, I think that works.
19:15You know how one time I did that really intense glitter eye?
19:17Yeah.
19:18I want to do that again, but with blue.
19:19Okay. We have a blue called Azure, and then another blue called Midnight Star.
19:24Perfect.
19:25I mean, we'll make that sparkle a little bit.
19:27I love that.
19:28I want her to just look regal in a sense, like, glowy and bronzy.
19:33Yeah, that's called French Roast.
19:35Then we do an eyeliner.
19:36Look at the beautiful texture of that.
19:38And then on the lip, downtown brown.
19:40Yeah.
19:43Designers, in ten minutes, you and your models and I are going down to the runway, all right?
19:48Ten minutes, everyone.
19:49Okay.
19:50Okay.
19:55I really want to win this challenge.
19:56I'm ready to impress the judges.
19:58Show them that there's a lot of talent inside of me and I'm just getting started.
20:02It looks cool.
20:03I love Majings.
20:04I think he really pushed himself because that looked really difficult.
20:09Okay.
20:10All right, designers and models, the time has come.
20:15We're headed down to the runway.
20:16Oh, my God.
20:17I feel so good.
20:18Good.
20:19Raberi.
20:20Yes, sir.
20:21Feel the runway and have a good time.
20:24Natalia.
20:25If the judges can think outside of the box, I think Natalia's jumpsuit is super cool.
20:29I can't stop imagining this, like, hot superhero photo shoot.
20:32Hello, everybody, and welcome to the runway.
20:42As you know in fashion, one day you're in and the next day, you're out.
20:46This groove is getting smaller and smaller.
20:49Is it getting intense?
20:51Yeah.
20:52It's getting real.
20:53Do you see the carrot dangling?
20:55Yeah.
20:56This is a very exciting challenge.
20:58You were sent off in a helicopter to have an aerial tour of New York City.
21:03Did you guys like it?
21:04Yeah.
21:05I loved it.
21:06Really?
21:07Yeah.
21:08I think it's so scary.
21:09I'm trying to do.
21:10No one was scared?
21:11I was going to say, you and me.
21:14Roller coasters, helicopters, not our thing.
21:18For this challenge, you were to create an editorial look for a powerful woman who is ready to conquer the world.
21:24You were to think bold, high fashion, and drama.
21:27And as you know, the winner of today's challenge will receive a spread in Mericlera Magazine.
21:32All right.
21:33Let's say hello to our judges.
21:35First, we have creative director of Brooks Brothers Women and fashion designer, Zach Posen.
21:40Hi, designers.
21:41Hi, Zach.
21:42Creative director for Mericlera Magazine, Nina Garcia.
21:45Hello, everyone.
21:46Today, we have Ann Fullenweider, editor-in-chief of Mericlera Magazine and new mentor of the upcoming season of Project Runway All Stars.
21:54Hi again, designers.
21:56And Camila Bell, starring in the film The Mad Whale.
22:01Welcome.
22:02Thank you for having me.
22:03Hi.
22:04Also, we have Tim Gunn here for The Runway Show.
22:06And as you know, he's your mentor and will not be judging your looks.
22:09We also have an anonymous runway show, so we the judges will not know who made which look.
22:14All right.
22:15Let's start the show.
22:22I actually think my look is super cool.
22:24It's really on the dark side, though.
22:26I like to hate it.
22:27There's nothing wrong with being a little dark.
22:29I love it.
22:30I feel a little bit relieved because it doesn't look that bad.
22:48I think the pants look really good and the jacket looks cute.
22:53I think I'll definitely be safe today.
22:54I think she looks gorgeous.
23:07I think she looks beautiful.
23:08I got this feeling of freedom and empowerment, and that's what I wanted to create.
23:26I finally feel like I'm creating a look that speaks to who I am as a designer.
23:31I feel like I've been holding back so much throughout these challenges.
23:35It looks really cool.
23:36I'm feeling like I got this.
23:47It looks chic, it looks sophisticated, and it looks like an empowered businesswoman.
23:56I'm hoping that they love it.
24:08I love how she looks.
24:09She looks exactly how I want her to look.
24:17She's sexy, she's strong, and beautiful.
24:27It really kind of shows who I am as a designer.
24:30It is fun.
24:31It's energetic.
24:32It's colorful.
24:33It's sparkly.
24:36I mean, I would definitely wear this dress.
24:49I definitely took a risk with this look, especially making my own fabrication and print.
24:53It looks good.
24:56I hope it pays off.
24:57I hope to be in those pages of Marie Claire.
25:07We have just learned which designer created which look.
25:10If I call your name, please step forward.
25:12Laurence.
25:14Robary.
25:16If I've called your name, congratulations.
25:18Your scores have qualified you to move on to the next round.
25:21Please leave the runway.
25:29The six of you have the highest and the lowest scores.
25:32One of you will be named the winner, and one of you will be out.
25:36Marjing, tell us about your inspiration and your look.
25:46Okay, while I was in the helicopter, I had seen some containers that had an array of colors between green and red.
25:53And then I also noticed that the water had a beautiful sparkle to it.
25:57So I wanted to take those two elements and fuse it together, and I wanted my woman to feel powerful, kind of like an African queen.
26:04So I found this beautiful tweed with different colors in there and specks of metallic, and I took denim and stitched it on top to create like a print.
26:13Majin, I really love this.
26:16I think...
26:18Majin, you cracked me!
26:21When I see it from here, I can see almost your perspective from an aerial view looking down.
26:29And what I love about this is the mix of materials, the hard and the soft.
26:35I love her silhouette.
26:36She looks powerful.
26:37She looks fashionable.
26:39I love it.
26:41Camila, what did you think?
26:43I really love this look, Majin. Congratulations.
26:46Hi!
26:47She's a powerful woman.
26:48You can see that 100%.
26:50The color combination, it's extremely flattering.
26:53I think from the last challenge, having your mother come really put some charge into you for this powerful woman.
27:01Well done.
27:03Natalia, tell us about your inspiration and your look.
27:05When we were in the helicopter ride, I saw all these buildings that had like this reflective silver sheen to them.
27:12I was also inspired by the contrast of the sky and the water, and that's why I chose the color blue.
27:18To me, it's more of a power ranger than a power woman.
27:22It has that quality of a kid's costume.
27:25And I have four kids, so I've seen a lot of those costumes.
27:28She's just missing the helmet.
27:30Beam me up, Scotty.
27:31She looks like she's going to Comic-Con.
27:34I think that the shiny fabrics seem like a gimmick, and the rest of it doesn't seem like a fashion designer designed it.
27:44Thank you, Natalia.
27:45Erin, tell us about your look and your inspiration.
27:48I really liked the feeling of being in the helicopter.
27:51It's kind of like this funny feeling, so I wanted a playful overall vibe.
27:55Originally, I had something different, and I was over-designing like crazy, because I was like,
27:59oh no, I've been in the bottom, like I gotta amp it up.
28:01And then after my critique with Tim, I realized that I just need to chill out.
28:05So does it mean you scrapped your first look?
28:07You did? Yeah.
28:09I like it more when it's moving than standing still.
28:12When it was in movement, the skirt flowed, you could see the reflection of the light on the bottom.
28:17I think this is a great dress for an editorial.
28:20It would read in a photograph really, really well.
28:23I think this dress looks like a lot of fun.
28:25It's a little feminine and frilly without feeling silly.
28:28You would feel very confident wearing that dress, because there's something very relaxed about it and cool.
28:32Is it the best dress here? No.
28:34Is it the best dress from you? Absolutely not.
28:38But it is a safe dress for you.
28:42Rick, tell us about your inspiration and your look.
28:45I was inspired by a couple different things.
28:47I just kind of took that ethereal, timeless feeling of being in the air,
28:50and the Statue of Liberty, which of course has this gorgeous drapery, and I actually created the print.
28:56Oh, wow. I just wanted it to be something very dramatic, and something that would definitely pop on the pages of Marie Claire.
29:00When your model came out, it was like a stunning entrance. You really had that wow moment. It moved beautifully. The silver accents came out, and then as she walked past me, the back.
29:16Wah, wah.
29:17And then I thought toga party and dirty fabric over like the little pencil dress.
29:24Okay. It's like an apron. No? Sort of? Draped?
29:27Yeah. Draped.
29:29It just felt very incomplete, and I also didn't totally understand it. And even the silver straps here, that throws me off too. So it feels like many different things.
29:38Mm-hmm. Rick, I absolutely love this dress. When your model came down the runway, I was blown away. It looks beautiful on her.
29:45I think if you look down the runway, it makes the biggest statement. I love that you made your own fabric. I like the asymmetry.
29:51I love that you start big on the bottom and go smaller and smaller. I think that's a really great detail. I think the silver straps make it fashion.
29:57I forgive you for the back.
30:01I'd like to just go on record as saying, this is one of my favorite, favorite looks today.
30:03I think you really pulled something dramatic and magnificent off. Congratulations.
30:08Thank you. I appreciate that. Thank you.
30:10Cordelios, tell us about your inspiration and your look.
30:14Being on the helicopter, I took inspiration from the buildings that are protruding forward and setting back, and also from the golf course and how it's shaped and decided to create something that's like a layering effect.
30:26The dress itself has been landscaped really well. Thank you.
30:30This was my favorite look today on the runway.
30:33Awesome.
30:34She looks super powerful. She looks fashion forward. She looks super chic. I love the pop of color. It kind of looks like feathers in a way.
30:41She's business, but she's also fun at the same time. I think she looks perfect. I would love to wear that dress.
30:48Even the length of the sleeve, it's a little longer than usual, and I think that makes it look even more fashion forward. Congratulations. I'm your new customer.
30:55Thank you so much.
30:57Dexter, tell us about your inspiration and your look.
31:00When I was flying over to New York City, just being able to see into people's windows gave me a voyeuristic feeling, and so I really wanted to, like, play with that with lace.
31:07I love editorial. I think it's about pushing boundaries and silhouettes, and so, you know, I took a risk.
31:14I love the thing you said about the windows and the voyeurism. I love that you chose a fabric that alludes to that.
31:20I get a really great sense of who your girl is. This is very different from anyone else on the runway. This is a goth girl, and this I could see her wearing on stage.
31:27And if that's what you wanted, then that's a great execution of what you wanted to do. But I think that the shoulder gimmick feels gimmick or costumey.
31:37I just don't think it says fashion, doesn't say editorial, actually just looks very familiar to me.
31:43I didn't love this look, I have to tell you. I'm a little scared of her.
31:47Okay. I was also surprised to see this jacket again. It is very similar to one challenge that we had a few weeks ago, and that jacket was already a big discussion then, so I'm surprised to see it again.
31:59I did like your jacket for that urban jungle challenge that we did. However, to see it again kind of misses the element of surprise.
32:08And actually the element of surprise, that's what you have up the sleeve that some don't. That's your joker. And you already played this one.
32:19Thank you, Dexter.
32:20Cool.
32:22Okay, we have heard what you had to say. We're going to take a closer look at your designs, have a little chat, and then I call you back onto the runway.
32:31The winner of Project Runway will receive $100,000 to launch their line. A year's supply of Sally Beauty products, along with $25,000 in cash, travel and hotel accommodations, to inspiring destinations around the world from best Western hotels and resorts.
32:50A new Lexus IS from Mary Kay, an entire year's worth of beauty products for their fashion shows and professional makeup artist services for their debut show.
32:59A complete sewing and crafting studio from Brothers Sewing and Embroidery. And the winning designer and model will receive a fashion spread in Mary Claire magazine.
33:08Hi.
33:09Hi, Tim.
33:10Hello, ladies.
33:12And Juanita.
33:13So we have Alicia wearing Majang.
33:15Yeah.
33:16He seemed so surprised today when we all loved his dress.
33:18It looks different up close. It's so interesting, the illusion of the runway. I thought it was the opposite. I thought it was the denim underneath.
33:26But it's denim on tweed.
33:27Yeah.
33:28I think the denim on the side is really slimy, too.
33:29Contours.
33:30The figure, completely.
33:34Alla is wearing Cornelius.
33:35That I love.
33:36This is great.
33:37Love the fabrics.
33:38If you choke everything.
33:39But this, too, this is a new way of cutting.
33:42Don't you think?
33:43Sure.
33:44To do the curve like that?
33:45Isn't this like a great pattern here?
33:46I feel like it's also a new form of finish and focus from him.
33:49I also feel a renewed sense of confidence.
33:51Good.
33:54And we have Juanita wearing Aaron.
33:57I think this would shoot so well.
33:59So well.
34:00Look at all this.
34:01Beautiful neckline.
34:02I mean, it has so many great options.
34:04I really like it.
34:05I like it a little less close up.
34:07Close up, this is really killing me.
34:08It's a reflective fabric.
34:09I kind of think it gives it the edge it needs.
34:11I agree.
34:12And it gives it an avant-garde quality.
34:14But I like that there's like an A-line shape here.
34:17And then she has the volume pleating in the back there.
34:20It's a really great fabric.
34:21The fabric makes it sing.
34:22It's everything.
34:23It's everything.
34:24It's a charming dress.
34:25Yes.
34:26It's charming.
34:27Wow.
34:28Oh.
34:29It doesn't improve on closer inspection.
34:30No.
34:31It's too costuming.
34:32To me, she just needs a helmet and then she's ready to fight.
34:34She thought that this looked too simple.
34:35And she added.
34:36So she just added that.
34:37But what's too simple is the cut of the leg.
34:38It just is really basic.
34:39Even here, the shoulders.
34:40This is straight.
34:41Here you have.
34:42It's ruching.
34:43I mean, that is no bueno.
34:44Here comes my dress.
34:45What happened?
34:46I think you were the only one that liked this dress.
34:47I loved it.
34:48You couldn't even see that.
34:49A hidden ray of reflection.
34:50But in the back, I was just so disappointed.
34:51This is just strapped on.
34:52Needs instructions.
34:53Sure.
34:54Exactly.
34:55It doesn't need to underdress at all.
34:56I would just take the white dress out altogether.
34:57This is so witchy to me.
34:58Witchy witchy.
34:59Yeah.
35:00Yeah.
35:01Yeah.
35:02Yeah.
35:03Yeah.
35:04Yeah.
35:05Yeah.
35:06Yeah.
35:07Yeah.
35:08Yeah.
35:09Yeah.
35:10Yeah.
35:11Yeah.
35:12Yeah.
35:13Yeah.
35:14It's so witchy to me.
35:15Witchy witchy.
35:16Hmm.
35:17This jacket, sadly.
35:18It's the same exact cut, besides these top pieces, as the last one, in the body.
35:23The other one was better made.
35:24This is not fitting.
35:25No.
35:26I think it's very gimmicky.
35:27Yeah.
35:28I liked his textile choice, but he really didn't do much with it.
35:31Actually, I forgot to ask him, did he do the lingerie as well?
35:34Aren't you wearing your own undergarments?
35:36Yeah.
35:37I was going to ask, but that's really disappointing.
35:40Now, knowing that this lingerie he didn't make, I don't like.
35:44Because to be honest, this I thought, this Chris Garcia was like, okay, there's something
35:47cool here.
35:48But he didn't even make that.
35:50Okay.
35:51So, have we made our decision?
35:55The six of you represent the highest and the lowest scores.
36:10One of you will be named the winner, and one or more of you will be out.
36:16Congratulations, you're the winner of this challenge.
36:29Oh my gosh.
36:33How do you feel?
36:35I'm really thankful that I can just show you guys more, so I'm excited.
36:39As you know, your look will be featured in an upcoming issue of Marie Claire magazine.
36:44That's really exciting.
36:46You're in.
36:47You can leave the runway.
36:48Thanks, guys.
36:49Good luck.
36:50I'm really excited to work with Nina and Anne.
36:53And I'm just really excited that my look is going to be featured in Marie Claire magazine.
36:59First win.
37:00Oh my gosh.
37:01Yes, I took it.
37:02Yes.
37:03I'm so excited.
37:04I feel good about the win, but I'm not going to be cocky about it.
37:07I'm just really excited to move forward.
37:09Ma Jing, Aaron, you're both in.
37:13You did a fantastic job.
37:14You can leave the runway.
37:17Dexter, your look felt way too goth.
37:28And as you know, we have seen these shoulders before from you.
37:32And they did not go over so well the very first time we saw them.
37:36Yeah.
37:39Natalia, your look was too costumey.
37:43It reminded all of us of a superhero and not in a good way.
37:49Rick, we do appreciate that you made your own textile.
37:53But other than that, it was a miss.
37:56And a miss.
37:58Rick, you're in.
38:02You can leave the runway.
38:09Natalia, Dexter, one of you will be out.
38:19Natalia, you're out.
38:27I'm really sorry.
38:32I wish you the best of luck.
38:33Thank you so much.
38:34Auf Wiedersehen.
38:35Thank you so much for everything.
38:37I was not proud of my garment.
38:39I knew that it looked costumey.
38:40I knew that it wasn't the best work that I've done.
38:43But I learned so much.
38:47Hi.
38:48You're in?
38:49No, I'm out.
38:50What?
38:51What?
38:52Yeah.
38:53Natalia.
38:54They just said that my garment was poorly constructed.
38:56And it was too costumey.
38:58Whoa.
38:59It's okay.
39:00I learned a lot.
39:01And I'm just happy I got to make it this far.
39:04You should be proud of yourself.
39:05Yeah.
39:11Dexter, I'm sorry you're out as well.
39:15I'm sorry, Dexter.
39:16Don't be sorry.
39:17I wish you all the best.
39:18I did it to myself.
39:19I had a great time.
39:20Thank you guys so much.
39:21Damn, I got the boot.
39:22It's heartbreaking.
39:23But I definitely stayed true to myself.
39:24So how, what, what else can I ask for?
39:25I'm out.
39:26I'm out.
39:27What?
39:28Oh wow.
39:29Really?
39:30Yeah.
39:31Oh wow.
39:32It was a fun run guys.
39:33Over here.
39:34I'm so happy I got to meet you.
39:35You too.
39:36I'm not going to cry Natalia.
39:37I'm not going to cry.
39:38I'm not going to cry.
39:39I knew I was going home.
39:40Whoa.
39:41Yeah.
39:42It just didn't go quite how I planned it.
39:43I don't know what I was thinking, but I still love it and I'm happy and it's just done.
39:49But congrats to you guys for being top six.
39:52Yeah, thank you.
39:53That's so weird.
39:54Damn.
39:55Congratulations guys.
39:56Wow.
39:57Stop it.
39:58Stop it.
39:59Oh.
40:00Oh my gosh.
40:01Oh my gosh.
40:02I'm not going to cry, Natalia.
40:04I'm not going to cry Natalia.
40:05I'm not going to cry Natalia.
40:08You guys are done.
40:09I knew I was going home.
40:12Whoa.
40:13Yeah.
40:14It just didn't go quite how I planned it.
40:15I don't know what I was thinking, but I still love it and I'm happy.

41:38no way these things are heavy oh my god oh I don't want you to make it too costuming it's kind of
41:52messing with me mentally oh I love the show today I loved it it is super sexy and sheer it's a little
42:00scary I don't want to see that
