01:20:38Billy Coy has moved back on the speedway again, ladies and gentlemen.

01:20:41And Billy Coy has a lot of mileage to make up right now,

01:20:44having been in the pits, even for that short time.

01:20:47Now they're all moving around the turn.

01:20:49Bill Cohen is still in the lead,

01:20:51followed by Tommy Parsons, George Conner,

01:20:53and Billy Coy is back there fighting it out for sixth place.

01:21:34Lots of carbon paper is being thrown from the exhaust of the various cars right under the driver's goggles.

01:21:51And that's pretty tough when they have to take one hand off that wheel and keep wiping the paper over their goggles.

01:21:56Billy Coy, the boy from California, is trying desperately to move back into Kentucky for a first place

01:22:01because Bill Holland driving the blue ground is right smack in the lead,

01:22:04and we think at the present time that he's going to stay in the lead.

01:22:08I wonder anything can happen in this track because you've seen accidents all afternoon.

01:22:12There's the starbust men down there on that car turning behind!

01:22:20They're all right, but they're right on the track, and the drivers get by them!

01:22:23And they are by them! The other flag went out, and the drivers are flying out of their car.

01:22:27Dale and Spalding, a very close call indeed!

01:22:31And now, ladies and gentlemen, the leg has been served for Speedway.

01:22:35But right now on the back stretch, we're watching Billy Coy as he has moved into fourth position,

01:22:39and he's challenging for the lead. Bill Holland is still in third.

01:22:41Dan Subrad is moving up very fast than Bill Holland.

01:22:44But here comes Billy Coy. Here he comes very fast on the outside now of Ted Frankie in car number one.

01:22:49And he's on his way now to left car number 36. The car is one left behind Billy Coy.

01:22:53Billy Coy's in third, but Grant's in second.

01:23:14This is one of the most sensational races I've ever seen in my life. Ladies and gentlemen, they're both Billy Coy.

01:23:18He is moved by the second place car on the grass, and he is now in second place all by himself, which means he's going after him.

01:23:24Now, for first place, what a sensational driver, Cannonball Coy, as great as his father was.

01:23:31Ah, what did I tell you? That kid's got one of teeks. I'll take my hand off, my bad sir.

01:23:42That's why he came out from his pits to pass number seven, and that's Bill Holland.

01:24:01There's a spin! There's a spin down there by Wilkins. Doe Caris is across the track.

01:24:13But he looks like he's all right. There is no gasoline on the Speedway. That was Doe Caris and Wilkins.

01:24:19The race is about what a sensational race. Troy Billy Coy is riding this afternoon.

01:24:24Now he's starting to move up with Bill Holland, the leader. The old-time veteran is Bill Holland.

01:24:27And of course, the newcomer, the Indianapolis Speedway is Billy Coy. Can Coy take Holland?

01:24:33Can he take it? We'll see if he can take it. It's very, very doubtful, but you can't tell.

01:24:37Anything can happen right now. But Coy is showing his old speed to his father.

01:24:40He's moved up now body to body with Bill Holland. First it's Holland in the lead, and then back to Coy.

01:24:45But Coy is going to be starting to move up, but he's very, very fast now.

01:24:48And I think he might do it, and he is going to do it. He does past Bill Holland now.

01:24:53And Billy Coy from the west coast in front of the lead. Bill Holland's in second.

01:24:58And Johnny Parsons is in third.

01:25:01He always stays out of trouble.

01:25:03Now, ladies and gentlemen, the flag is down. The white flag is down. One left remaining to go now.

01:25:45Here comes Coy. He's coming into the north third. And the car's in front of Billy Coy.

01:25:49One of us, Bill, lives behind him. They're going to score at speed. They get away.

01:25:53And around the plane winner comes Coy. Coy goes through. He's not alone now. But he got through okay.

01:25:59Look, ladies and gentlemen, that car number six is on fire.

01:26:02That's the standard. Look at the engine. It's on fire.

01:26:06He's hitting those flames. This is the time we're going to go now.

01:26:10He's on fire. He's on fire. He's on fire. He's on fire.

01:26:13And if there's a good chance he'll never even finish it now, if that car does blow up, if those flames from that engine ever get to that gasp.

01:26:19He's a sure daughter. His poor mother is sitting on the stairs. We can certainly see how she feels.

01:26:24Because she witnessed one of her husband Cannonball Coy was killed out here 18 years ago because of fire.

01:26:29What's Billy Coy going to do? He better jump, fight us, and get out of that car.

01:26:32He better jump, but no. He's going to bring that car home.

01:26:35That's the last thing he does. He says he's gone this far. And he's going to go all the way.

01:26:39Bill Holland passes Billy Coy. Bill Holland's in first position now.

01:26:43And Tommy Johnson's on fire in the second. Bill Holland has moved the winner, ladies and gentlemen.

01:26:48And they're going to be quiet, but he's not safe.

01:28:14to a driver who did not win the race,

01:28:17but who won the hearts of the whole racing world

01:28:19with his skill, his daring, and his great courage.
