00:00Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the coolest time Slayers threw down.
00:2020. Rengoku's Train Track Dash
00:32Have you ever stopped to wonder what a runaway train is actually running away from?
00:36Well, apparently, the answer is KyĹŤjuro Rengoku.
00:39The Flame Hashira realizes his target is down the tracks, so he starts running.
00:44Then he picks up speed, and then a little more, and then even more, until he vanishes in a burst of actual fire.
00:56Imagine being a demon, feeling nice and cozy inside your speeding train,
01:01only to look outside and see a Slayer keeping up with you on foot.
01:14All we have to say is that someone needs to get Rengoku on a track team ASAP.
01:2319. Tanjiro and His Thick Head
01:26Demon or Hashira, it doesn't matter who you are.
01:30If you threaten Nezuko, Tanjiro will tear you down with his hands tied behind his back.
01:35That's not a figure of speech.
01:36Beaten, bound, and presented before a jury of Hashira,
01:40Tanjiro is helpless as Wind Slayer Sanami begins torturing poor Nezuko.
01:45So he uses his head.
01:47Literally.
01:51He charges forward, leaps over a sword slash,
01:55and then headbutts one of the highest-ranking warriors in the entire Demon Slayer core.
02:00We don't know if it's bold or stupid,
02:11but either way, it definitely left an impression.
02:1518. Muzan Comes Knocking
02:17As the original demon and antagonist of the series,
02:21Muzan practically oozes authority everywhere he goes.
02:24But he really puts on a display when he pays Ubiashiki's home a visit.
02:29The angles, the atmosphere, the glint of mischief in his eyes,
02:42Muzan's making a whole show of it.
02:44And even though he's a sadistic villain with no redeeming qualities,
02:48we have to admit, he looks pretty damn cool.
02:51In case you need reminding,
02:58he's literally strolling into the front door of his sworn enemy.
03:02A sworn enemy who is also surrounded by an elite team of warriors
03:06trained specifically to kill him.
03:09Not that Muzan seems to care one bit.
03:1217. Flexible Inosuke
03:15Always one for dramatics,
03:17Inosuke wasn't content introducing himself with a fight.
03:20No.
03:21He also had to rub his superiority right in Tanjiro's face.
03:25How?
03:26With flexibility, of course.
03:28Yeah, this is a literal flex.
03:30Right as Tanjiro is recomposing himself,
03:33Inosuke leans back, and back, and back,
03:36until his head is literally poking out between his legs.
03:39No, there's no practical reason for this.
03:47He could have at least passed it off
03:48as some sort of excessive dodge or eclectic technique,
03:52but that's just not his style.
03:54In the end, it's purely just Inosuke showing off.
03:57We'd hold it against him,
03:59but truthfully, it is really impressive.
04:01What did you do?
04:03Man, what is it with Tanjiro and boulders?
04:17It's on sight with those two.
04:26Way back in the day,
04:27the Slayer wannabe had to slice through one
04:30to prove he was up to taking the entrance exam.
04:32It took a lot of work,
04:34but thanks to some pointers from Sabido and Makumo,
04:37Tanjiro turned the stone into sliced bread.
04:40Later, in yet another training arc,
04:43Tanjiro faced a boulder again.
04:45This one from Stone Hashira Gyomei himself.
04:49While pushing it across the finish line
04:50took a lot of muscle mass,
04:52Tanjiro focused on his family
04:54and did it with aplomb.
04:55So much for being tough as a rock.
05:02Number 15.
05:09Muichiro makes sushi.
05:11Just because someone makes swords
05:13doesn't mean they know how to use them.
05:15Just look at Kotetsu.
05:17The sniveling kid is a free meal for the fish demon.
05:20In fact, it's such a done deal,
05:23Muichiro even wonders
05:24whether it's worth trying to save him at all.
05:26Of course, the missed Hashira makes the right call.
05:29And we're thankful for it
05:31because it gave us one of the coolest slashes
05:33in the franchise.
05:45Also one of the shortest.
05:47With a single breathtaking swing of his sword,
05:49Muichiro turns the demon into fish sticks.
05:52There is no doubt why he's a Hashira
05:54after something like that.
05:55Number 14.
06:08Daki slaps Zenitsu senseless.
06:11Ah, Zenitsu.
06:12Normally the spineless scaredy cat
06:14of the Slayer core,
06:15he mans up enough to save a young girl
06:18from Daki's wrath.
06:19As payment, he gets a nice slap across the face.
06:27And for the record,
06:28it's not the kind he'd like.
06:42Daki is still maintaining appearances here,
06:44but with one flick of her hand,
06:46she sends poor Zenitsu all the way to dreamland.
06:50Evidently, to her,
06:51Zenitsu isn't even worth a fight.
06:53If Daki had decided to get serious,
06:56odds are there wouldn't have been
06:57any Zenitsu left to save at all.
07:00Number 13.
07:01Muzan drops everyone into Infinity Castle.
07:04Ubiashiki's gambit was brilliant.
07:07He rigged his house with explosives,
07:09enlisted a demon friend,
07:10and lured Muzan right into the greatest trap
07:13in Slayer history.
07:24In the aftermath,
07:25the Hashira finally unite,
07:27ready to use their combined force
07:29to bring Muzan down for good.
07:31They charge in,
07:32blades ready,
07:33about to deal the final strike,
07:35when Muzan smirks.
07:37And just like that,
07:38every Slayer across the mountain
07:39is simultaneously dropped
07:41right into Infinity Castle.
07:43A.K.A. Muzan's domain.
07:53Even when surrounded by humanity's best Slayers,
07:56the progenitor of demonkind
07:58still finds a way to come out on top.
08:00Worst of all,
08:01he does it with a smile too.
08:03Remember how we said Zenitsu
08:15wasn't even worth a fight to Daki?
08:17Well,
08:18Sound Hashira Tengen Uzui
08:20is a different story.
08:22Don't get excited though,
08:23this barely qualifies as a fight.
08:25After all,
08:26Daki doesn't even realize
08:27the match has begun
08:28until her head plops over into her arms.
08:39For perspective,
08:40this is the same demon
08:42who one-shotted Zenitsu,
08:44ruled over a district for generations,
08:46and nearly put Tanjiro into an early grave.
08:49What we're saying is that Daki is no pushover.
08:52So,
08:53even for a Hashira,
08:54this is one flashy almost finish
08:56we won't be forgetting anytime soon.
08:58Number 11,
09:05Mitsuri makes her entrance.
09:07Hashira have a thing for dramatic last-minute saves,
09:11and Mitsuri Kanroji is no exception.
09:14Right as Tanjiro,
09:15Nezuko,
09:16and Genya
09:16are about to get crushed
09:17by Hantengu's wooden dragons,
09:20the love Hashira dives into action.
09:28With her heart on her sleeve
09:34and a whipped sword in hand,
09:35she grinds Hantengu
09:37into wood chips
09:37before our eyes.
09:39This being Demon Slayer,
09:40it's all conveyed
09:41with brilliant animation,
09:43rocking music,
09:44and all the dazzling swordplay
09:46you could ever want.
09:47After all,
09:48it's as they say,
09:49love is a battlefield.
09:51Then clearly,
09:52this is one fight
09:52Mitsuri will be winning with style.
09:58Number 10,
10:07Muzan's Main Street Murder.
10:09Most demons are loud
10:10and proud about their death tally.
10:12But then again,
10:13Muzan Kibutsuji
10:14isn't most demons.
10:22As the original monster,
10:24Muzan doesn't concern himself
10:26with a small fry like Tanjiro.
10:28Instead,
10:29when he comes face to face
10:30with the Slayer
10:31in the middle of a busy street,
10:33Muzan simply slashes someone's neck.
10:40It happens in the blink of an eye
10:45and before anyone can notice,
10:47Muzan has already slipped away.
10:49We know that Muzan
10:50is powerful enough
10:51to kill any human on sight,
10:53but turning them into a demon
10:54in the middle of a packed street
10:56without getting caught
10:57is something else entirely.
10:59If this is what Muzan
11:00can do undercover,
11:02there's no telling
11:02what'll happen
11:03when he gets serious.
11:10Number 9,
11:11Bugging Out.
11:12Shinobu may look friendly,
11:14but trust us,
11:15she's a harsher for a reason.
11:17Case in point,
11:18her friendship
11:18with the conniving spider sister
11:20begins and ends
11:22in the span
11:23of a single sword slash.
11:29Of course,
11:29Shinobu is no monster.
11:31She gives the demon
11:32plenty of options
11:33for penance,
11:34like, say,
11:35gouging out her eyes
11:36or losing some of her organs.
11:38She chooses the hard way,
11:39though,
11:40so Shinobu has no choice
11:41but to bring out
11:42the butterflies.
11:43Spoiler,
11:44they aren't as harmless
11:45as they seem.
11:53The poor spider sister
11:54never stood a chance
11:56against this poison.
11:57Clearly,
11:57when Shinobu says
11:58she wants to be friends,
12:00it's best to start
12:01running the other way.
12:02A few stab wounds
12:14won't keep this board down,
12:15although,
12:16we can see why
12:17Daki was confused.
12:18Q-Taro's attacks
12:19would have sliced
12:20any other slayer
12:21into finger food,
12:22but Inosuke
12:23has a trick up his sleeve.
12:25He can literally
12:25rearrange his organs
12:27at will,
12:28including his heart.
12:32The battle implications
12:38are insane.
12:40Unless you mince him
12:41into dust,
12:42Inosuke can almost
12:43never be fatally wounded.
12:45We'd say Daki and Gutaro
12:46won't make that mistake again,
12:48but based on how
12:49Inosuke cleaned up
12:50this fight,
12:51we'd wager
12:52they won't be doing
12:53much of anything
12:54at all anymore.
12:55Number 7.
13:02An emotional final form
13:03Snivelling wimp or not,
13:06there's a good reason
13:06to be scared of Han Tengu.
13:08Four to be precise.
13:10When the going gets tough,
13:11he splits off
13:12into a squad of demons,
13:13each representing
13:14the emotions of joy,
13:16sorrow,
13:16anger,
13:17and pleasure.
13:18Together,
13:18they smack around
13:19Tanjiro,
13:20Nezuko,
13:21and Genya
13:21like nobody's business.
13:23But when their main body
13:24is at risk,
13:24they decide
13:25to up the ante
13:26and show off
13:27their real strength.
13:32Also known as
13:33Zohakuten.
13:34While Han Tengu
13:35was in danger,
13:36Zohakuten's arrival
13:38felt like overkill.
13:39Based on how quickly
13:40he thrashed the main cast,
13:42Han Tengu's
13:43original emotions
13:44probably could have
13:45handled this on their own.
13:46Evidently,
13:47restraint is not
13:48one of his virtues.
13:49He's just disappointed.
14:03Shortly after slaying
14:04the Flamehashira
14:05in cold blood,
14:07upper-ranked demon
14:08Akaza
14:08was probably feeling
14:09mighty full of himself.
14:10However,
14:17Muzan wasn't impressed
14:19with his subordinate's
14:20cockiness,
14:21especially once he learned
14:22Akaza failed to kill
14:23the other three slayers
14:25at the scene.
14:25So,
14:26like any good
14:26father figure,
14:27Muzan doled out
14:28some tough love.
14:30All you need to know
14:39is that Akaza's
14:40smirk vanishes
14:41in record time.
14:42Keep in mind,
14:43he still murdered
14:44a Hashira
14:45and that's no small feat,
14:46but despite it all,
14:48Muzan doesn't pass up
14:49the opportunity
14:50to assert dominance.
14:51It's a good thing
14:52Akaza beat Rengoku at all,
14:54else he might not
14:55have walked away
14:56from this check-in.
15:00Number 5,
15:01A Swordsmith's Duty
15:02Not even Kizuki
15:04can get between
15:05a swordsmith
15:05and their work.
15:06During Gyouko's
15:07attack on the
15:08swordsmith village,
15:09Hakanezuka decides
15:10he's going to finish
15:11crafting his sword
15:13and nothing,
15:14demon or otherwise,
15:15will stand in his way.
15:18Gyouko doesn't
15:19make it easy on him,
15:20but the swordsmith
15:21doesn't so much
15:22as turn around
15:23even when the demon
15:24starts lashing his back.
15:30He doesn't even
15:35stop when his mask
15:36gets blown off,
15:37nor when he's
15:38hit in the eye
15:38or the entire building
15:40explodes around him.
15:41Now that's
15:42some dedicated
15:42workmanship,
15:43not to mention
15:44a smack in the face
15:45to Gyouko's
15:46so-called strength.
15:47upper ranks
16:01just don't know
16:01when to leave
16:02well enough alone,
16:03do they?
16:04And to think,
16:04it all started
16:05with Doma
16:06putting a hand
16:07on his ally's shoulder.
16:08He failed to realize
16:15that Akaza
16:16doesn't like
16:17to be touched.
16:18When Doma
16:18doesn't back down,
16:19he finds himself
16:20without a jaw.
16:21Not that he seems
16:22to be too bothered
16:23about it.
16:27Although,
16:28if we could
16:28regenerate
16:29as fast as him,
16:30we wouldn't mind either.
16:31Later,
16:32Akaza tries again
16:33by taking Doma's
16:34whole head,
16:35but all it does
16:36is lose Akaza
16:37his hand
16:38and his pride
16:39courtesy of an appearance
16:40by upper one
16:41Kokushibo.
16:42Moral of the story,
16:43don't take off a demon.
16:48Number 3.
16:49Nezuko goes
16:50full blast.
16:51Demons everywhere,
16:52be warned.
16:53If you mess with Tanjiro,
16:54you have Nezuko
16:55to speak to.
16:56Daki pushed her luck
16:57too far
16:58and Tanjiro's
16:59sister positively snapped.
17:06We're talking
17:07growing a full horn,
17:08biting off her muzzle
17:10and developing
17:10a sick new kind
17:12of bloodlust.
17:13On the bright side,
17:14Nezuko used the power
17:15to kick the absolute crap
17:17out of Daki.
17:25Considering the upper rank
17:27had just swept the floor
17:28with the Slayers,
17:30Nezuko's one-sided beatdown
17:32is a true,
17:32bloodstained sight to behold.
17:34The message was loud
17:35and clear.
17:37There's only one demon
17:38who's the queen
17:38of the entertainment district
17:40and her name
17:41is Nezuko.
17:47Number 2.
17:49The Water Hashira
17:50in action.
17:51In a hard-fought struggle
17:52for their very lives,
17:54Tanjiro and Nezuko
17:55had to give everything
17:56they had
17:56just to stay standing
17:58against Rui.
17:58And then,
17:59after that,
18:00Giyu swoops in
18:01and slashes the demon's neck
18:03in one clean slice.
18:11We'd say it's unnecessary,
18:13but this is the same Hashira
18:15who sliced the spider father
18:17to bits
18:17without so much
18:18as a blink.
18:25One shots are just
18:26Giyu's thing.
18:27What's more,
18:27he doesn't even look
18:28all that impressed
18:29with himself.
18:30It's one thing
18:31to slay a Kizuki
18:32in one strike,
18:33but another entirely
18:34to do it
18:35with a straight face.
18:36It makes you wonder,
18:37what does impress
18:38Giyu anymore?

19:01Number 1.
19:02Infinity Castle Massacre
19:04Muzan doesn't take
19:06failure well,
19:07especially by his
19:0812 Kizuki.
19:09So when they keep
19:10routinely failing him,
19:12he makes the
19:12completely rational
19:13and level-headed
19:14choice to clean house.
19:23To sum it up,
19:24Infinity Castle
19:25becomes a bloodbath.
19:27The lower moons?
19:28Gone.
19:29Every single one
19:29is left on the
19:30cutting room floor.
19:32These are supposed
19:32to be some of the
19:33best of the best,
19:34and Muzan takes them
19:35all out within minutes.
19:37As if to prove
19:38their ruler's might,
19:39some of the
19:39lower moons
19:40don't even put up
19:41a fight.
19:50For example,
19:51Enmu,
19:51who knows
19:52resisting Muzan
19:53is pointless.
19:54With that kind
19:54of reputation,
19:55it's no wonder
19:56Muzan reigns supreme.
