00:00The poll body's brainchild on increased voter registration has hit pay dirt as voter enrollment or sign-ups for the local and youth council polls in December is beginning to pick up. Here is the report.
00:14Red and Sandra were waiting for their 3 p.m. flight to Taiwan when they saw the Special Registration Anytime Anywhere program site of Comelec at the waiting area of Naiya Terminal 3.
00:24Without hesitation, they took the opportunity to update their voter records. Red needed to reactivate his registration while Sandra wanted to update her name in the records.
00:35They said it was less hassle, especially since their provinces where they are registered are far away.
00:54Your voice and your vote counts. It matters po.
00:59Super mahalaga siya kasi hindi na namin need umuwi sa province namin para ipabot lang yung concern namin.
01:07Through Special Registration Program ng Comelec, mas mapapatalig.
01:11The Special Registration Anytime Anywhere program site at Naiya Terminal 3 started accepting registrants at around 8 a.m. in the morning.
01:19This is the second day that the Special Registration site has been operating at the airport.
01:23Yesterday, more than 100 individuals registered, reactivated, or corrected their voter information at the site.
01:30Located just beside the arrival area, the site offers easy access for travelers and airport goers.
01:36Other SRAP sites open today including Naiya Terminal 1, San Beda College, Alabang Campus, Hospital na Montilupa, Tutuban Mall, Pamantasan ng Lunsod na Montilupa, and Comelec Main Office at Intramuros, Manila.
01:49Aside from SRAP booths, local Comelec offices nationwide are also accepting voter registrants.
01:55Comelec said that the SRAP sites help support local Comelec offices, especially with the expected surge in registrants during the 10-day voter registration period.
02:04But what exactly sets SRAP apart from regular local registrations?
02:09Ang kinikater po namin is nationwide.
02:26So that's the purpose po of the SRAP.
02:28Comelec also clarified that registration at SRAP sites is not automatically approved.
02:32All applications will still go through the election officer for validation and will undergo a hearing by the Election Registration Board or ERB.
02:40ERB po is Election Registration Board.
02:43That's the process po under Republic Act 8189 kung saan i-approve or i-disapprove yung applications.
02:50Of course, hindi naman siya i-disapprove kung walang ground.
02:52Usually po, ang ground ng disapproval, dalawa lang naman po yan.
02:55It's either hindi ka resident sa area, resident ng area, or hindi ka po qualified in terms of age.
03:03The ERB hearing will take place nationwide on August 25.
03:06After 10 days, applicants will find out if their registration has been approved.
03:10Comelec will publish the results on its official website and post them on bulletin boards of local offices,
03:15while some barangays may also receive copies of the approved and disapproved applications.
