Transcript
00:00division and will showcase two guys who have yet to taste defeat as professionals
00:04Iron Magic, Alvin Varmal Jr. and Charles the Truth Foster
00:11Charles Foster celebrating his 28th birthday tonight and he hopes to do so with his 16th victory
00:22he turned pro just under seven years ago and has disposed of eight of his 15 opponents
00:27the West Haven Connecticut native fought a four four times in 2016 and only twice last year
00:34Foster comes off a lopsided unanimous decision win that was in February he went 10 rounds for the
00:40very first time as to his style nothing fancy the softball says he can box if he needs to but he can
00:48be just as effective as a brawler at 6-2 he'll have a decided height and reach advantage tonight
00:55over his opponent what is clearly a step-up fight for him although he could say pretty much the same
01:01thing about his opponent Varmal undefeated in his 15 professional fights he will try to keep it that
01:08way tonight Steve still behind the numbers with Charles Foster well Barry with Foster we start with
01:16a hint of potential in his most recent fight he not only won a unanimous 10 round decision but he won
01:21all 10 rounds and that was against a useful opponent to Justin Thomas who was 19 and 3 pick it up
01:27there's nothing like activity for a young fighter Foster is now 27 still fairly young but since turning
01:33pro in 2011 he's averaged only two fights a year not ideal and Chad too 13 years ago another unbeaten
01:41light heavy from New Haven Chad Dawson made a successful showbox debut Dawson didn't do badly went on to
01:47become a world title Iron Magic Alvin Alexander Varmal Jr. is hoping to turn an impressive amateur career
02:02which saw him win a national championship into professional gold he's had early knockout success 12 of
02:10his 15 wins have come in either the first or second rounds albeit against very limited opposition he's
02:15been training in East Strasburg Pennsylvania for this fight and he's been getting good sparring with
02:20the likes of Monty Barrett and Kendall Holt at 5'8 he is short for the light heavyweight division
02:26Varmal is a product of the custom model system and he employs that peekaboo style of a young Mike Tyson
02:32Varmal will hope to bury his head in his opponent's chest and bang away tonight he drops down from
02:39the cruiserweight to fight at 175 so Steve let's go behind the numbers with Alvin Varmal Jr. well Barry
02:47we start with six versus ten for miles never been scheduled for more than six rounds in foster he's
02:54taken on an opponent who went to full 10 his last time out so clear advantage foster weighty issue from
03:00he's got 189 his last time out in fact he's been as high as 204 was he just overweight and out of
03:06shape has he weakened himself getting down to 172 and change he says not at all and easy does it only
03:12one of Vermont's seven most recent opponents had a winning record tonight he faces a fighter who's 15 and
03:17he's got a winning record tonight so that's moving up
03:19all right with that we are set to go then with our second fight of the evening so once more we'll take

05:23iron magic alvin alexander vermont jr
05:30let's go let's go go charles out i gave specific detail instructions in the locker room we're going
05:38to tell you two things protect yourselves at all times and most importantly obey my commands at all
05:42times touch gloves bang at the bell god bless taylor the tape very revealing big differences in the height
05:49and reach of these two but the most significant number from our weight 172 and three quarters 16 pounds
05:56less than he scaled his last time out and the rules again the unified rules no standing eight no three
06:02knockdown only the referee can stop the fight fighter cannot be saved by the bell in any ground and the
06:06fight becomes official after four barry all right here we go then light heavyweights alvin bar mal and
06:14charles foster von alice he pointed out way the shorter of the two
06:18both these guys needless to say think of this as a real opportunity
06:28foster right now the southpaw stance left-handed
06:35amateur experience you see vermont only 21 fights but he was a national champion in 2013 at 200 pounds
06:43foster 60 amateur fights for the national pal pro experience you see the numbers
06:48fairly similar though foster's been a pro a little bit longer for a few more rounds
06:56vermont pretty fast at cutting that distance already in his face right right
07:04foster just kind of trying to hold him off with that right hand yeah trying to put that
07:08long jab out there and even just send it out there to hold him there not let him come in
07:12oh when a fighter does that he puts his jab hand out there vermont would just hook the elbow
07:25he would break the elbow he would break his arm that's a little kind and it'll keep him i'm sorry
07:30bear that's all right keep up from doing that bro when you say hook the elbow you mean
07:35yeah come underneath and hook the elbow that way you'll stop pawing him like that oh hook it with
07:39his hand not a punch not a left hook punch vermont throw a punch oh throw a look okay two foster's uh
07:45elbow wow tell me it'll stop the guy from just pawing out there diamante knows all the tricks he seems like
07:53such a nice guy too well the key for vermont is pretty obvious but it's not just getting inside it's
08:01what happens when he gets inside yeah right now he's getting inside and getting tied up right
08:06you know not every short pressure fighter fights like mike tyson and vermont may need some time to
08:24warm up here watch out come on punch in the back come on fight shot workout let's go come on break break
08:29first round so far is being controlled by foster
08:41my talk can you foster got the hides got the reads but he's got to use that long jab put a little bit
08:47more of a statement on that jab you know pop it out there hard
08:50and vermont just tried to rush in yep he's rushing in making the mistake by just trying to land one
09:02shot he's not jabbing in pretty good round i thought for foster i agree
09:20all right we had an opportunity to talk to both these guys about what they need to do to win the
09:33fight here first is alvin vermont i see a big target and as far as how to beat him you know i'm just going
09:42to do what i do you know he's 6 2 so i'm gonna have to be in his chest and chop him down and that's what
09:48i'm good at chopping down you know he's a lot shorter than me so i see like to try to imitate mike
09:55tyson style a lot but uh you know i'm 6 2 i'm a lefty so the strategies go out there and it's
10:00established dominance dominance with the jab
10:06round two brown island black trucks and foster in the white red and gold
10:24break break
10:29said earlier that 12 of the knockouts for
10:32happened in the first or second round. Watch out, work out, work out.
10:40Fosser could make this so easy for him. What he's got to do is put that jab out there.
10:44Fosser got there with a pretty good shot.
10:50Good right hand again by Fosser, but he wasn't really fast.
10:54Maybe a little more energy from Fosser now. Warmed up.
10:58See, right there, Fosser needs to let that left hand go.
11:04That's how he's got to take a step back. He's going to catch him coming in all day long.
11:08And it'll break for Miles' will, hopefully.
11:12Romalo right now just out-muscling Fosser.
11:18He's way too much. He's way too much with the left hand.
11:21Talking about Fosser.
11:28When Fosser wants to hold, it seems like he's successful doing it.
11:38And that's not good for Romalo.
11:40He has to free his hands, tuck his elbow in,
11:44and work, and not fall in like he's doing right now.
11:47To let Fosser hold it.
11:49Back in the head.
11:50Back in the head.
11:50Back in the head.
11:51Back in the head.
11:51Back in the head.
11:51Back in the head.
11:53Back in the head.
11:54Back in the head.
11:55Back in the head.
11:56Oh, wow.
11:57Too wild.
11:58Yes.
11:59That's a cool takedown, I thought, right?
12:01Do you get points for that?
12:02I believe so.
12:03I believe so.
12:04And another sport.
12:05Back in the head.
12:09A lot of arm punching by Ferb Nye.
12:11Yeah.
12:12Totally squared up, Raul.
12:13Yeah.
12:14Squared up, yeah.
12:15Squared up.
12:16Yeah.
12:17He's got to take advantage of it right there.
12:19He's got to, all he's got to do is bend his legs
12:20and dig hard to the body.
12:22Mike Tyson style of it.
12:23Come on, he's been looking at Mike Tyson.
12:25Little Mike Tyson on him.
12:27Yeah, that's his, uh, that's his model as his hero,
12:29and remember, he did come from Catskill at one point.
12:32Trained there.
12:33He's got the peekaboo style,
12:34and right now he's got a lot of pink,
12:36but not much boo.
12:37Oh, no.
12:38And Mike Tyson actually, uh,
12:41did some work with this kid.
12:43Yeah.
12:45There's a right hand from Bermal.
12:48After Foster's gotten there with a combination of his own.
12:51It's a better round for Bermal.
12:53A lot better.
13:01Well, this is where Bermal watched the fight.
13:03That time he got a choke and hit him with the right hand.
13:05That's exactly what you said he needed to do, Raul.
13:09Yeah, he's really bringing it to the right hand again.
13:19He's just trying to pressure you now,
13:20because he's desperate.
13:21So now you gotta expect to know your combination.
13:23When you're inside, I need you to move your head,
13:25move your head and go to, to touch his body.
13:27He don't like to eat touchdown speed.
13:29Don't, don't work backwards.
13:31Work inside, work side to side.
13:33Pop your jabs to do something.
13:35Pop your jabs.
13:36Stop dropping your left hand to the neck.
13:38He's doing it through high, through the head.
13:40You just pity batting with him.
13:41Jab, jab, left hand.
13:43If he throws his right hand,
13:44it's gonna go over the top.
13:45All right?
13:46Bermal took that second round,
13:48and you see a little bit of a lazy jab by Foster,
13:53and then Bermal is inside when he lands that left uppercut.
13:57And that right hand, I mean, so many of punches,
13:59in the first round,
14:00so many of Bermal's punches were short,
14:02but he landed there, and Foster has to be perfect
14:05to keep the right distance.
14:07Hit the head.
14:08When you're inside.
14:11Round three, schedule for eight.
14:17This is entirely a case of who can dictate
14:20how this fight is fought.
14:23That's it.
14:24Watch out, watch out.
14:25Watch out.
14:26And you see on Foster's trunks, KO King lives.
14:29That's a tribute to his best buddy,
14:32Louis Rosa Jr.,
14:33who gave us one of the great fights
14:34in Showbox history last year in Cleveland,
14:37losing a very close decision.
14:39Louis Rosa sadly was killed in a car accident in January,
14:42and his folks, Louis Sr. and Maryland,
14:45handled Charles Foster.
14:48So belated sympathies to the Rosa family.
14:53All right?
14:54Give it three.
14:57Well, Vermal, he wasted no time in this round
15:00as soon as the bell rang, he ran up to him.
15:02Yeah.
15:03Foster.
15:04Close that gap quick.
15:05Watch out.
15:06Watch out.
15:07He's got to work inside.
15:08He's got to go to work.
15:09As long as he keeps touching him.
15:10He doesn't have to load up with every shot.
15:12That's the mistake that he makes.
15:13He wants to load up.
15:14He's not Mike Tyson.
15:16Watch out.
15:17He ain't gonna be able to knock him out with his shot.
15:18He's got to break him down.
15:20He's got to put his shots together.
15:21Both sides of the body go up the middle.
15:24Have a lot of confidence in the fact
15:26that he might be able to do that in the last round,
15:28but so far in this round, Foster is adjusted.
15:32Slap in the right hand by Foster.
15:34Watch out.
15:36Watch out.
15:37Watch out.
15:38One of the technical problems for Vermal,
15:40as you see, he sets up with his left foot
15:41in front of his right.
15:43But when he steps forward,
15:45he brings his right foot up,
15:46and all of a sudden his feet are parallel,
15:47and he stayed that way where he touches.
15:48He just saw it there.
15:49He's squared up, too.
15:50And you know, Raul,
15:51you're not gonna get power on your shots
15:52if your feet are parallel.
15:53No shots.
15:54Exactly.
15:55No shots are off balance.
15:56All of a sudden just push him,
15:58and he's gonna fall one side
16:01because he's off balance.
16:02He's out of balance right there.
16:03So he can't maximize his power.
16:05Yeah, for that reason,
16:06Vermal's actually more of a threat
16:07when he's coming in from a distance
16:09than he is when he's already inside.
16:10Right, right.
16:11That's right.
16:12You see his feet right there.
16:13Very, just parallel.
16:19That's the jab I wanna see from Foster.
16:22Yeah, it's just enough.
16:23He's got it right there.
16:24That's it.
16:25Keep moving.
16:26And fire down the middle.
16:27Straight, straight left hands.
16:29That's all you gotta do.
16:30Take a step back.
16:31Left hand.
16:32Move to the right.
16:33Move to the left.
16:34Go stand in front of him.
16:35Keep turning him.
16:36And hold him in the inside.
16:37Let the referee break you apart.
16:39Go in and Foster leads with that jab.
16:42He's gotta bring it back.
16:45Can't be a lazy jab where he's gonna get down.
16:47That's it.
16:48It is a lazy jab.
16:49Kind of a backhanded jab.
16:50Come on.
16:51Watch out.
16:52Watch out.
16:53Watch out.
16:54Freeze!
16:55ulture big effort.
16:56Watch out.
16:58individuals.
16:59Watch out.
17:00Watch out.
17:01Round of offense.
17:02Head's sensor huge đã pound.
17:03All right, we're gonna get off.
17:04First, .
17:05First up Allen.
17:06Oh...
17:07Very sloppy.
17:08For done both fighters are very slappy there.
17:10He's very slappy there.
17:25You're letting him keep you on the outside, homeboy.
17:28You lose the jab, you're getting like you were worse on, man.
17:31Even if you double that jab downstairs,
17:33well, I'll come with the hook.
17:34If you double the jab downstairs,
17:35come in the overhand range.
17:37Either or, man.
17:39You're trying to come in with one jab.
17:41All right?
17:42Start doubling it up and bring the heater behind you.
17:45When you're inside, you're letting him tie you up.
17:47Free the hands inside and start dropping the body shots.
17:50Easy round.
17:51Don't let him push you around.
17:53He can't push you around.
17:54Just drop in nice and tough for your shoulder.
17:57Let him have it.
17:58Let him have it.
17:59He's squaring up.
18:00So as soon as you're done with your combination,
18:01step up to the side.
18:02Don't load up.
18:03Squaring up.
18:04Go.
18:09Go.
18:12Go.
18:13Go.
18:18Go.
18:19Go.
18:20Go.
18:21Go.
18:22Go!
18:24Go!
18:25Go!
18:26This is round four of this eight round five.
18:28Talked about what a good round two Ramal had.
18:31three huh big difference
18:37told him to try to jab his way in this corner he is trying to do that
18:43but foster wisely ties him up when he gets in there
18:47got out with a good right hand of the body
18:51what leaping left hand he's jumping he's jumping up at him
18:57and left hook was more floyd patterson than it was mike tyson yeah
19:02to me look at joe frazier left yeah yeah well we're in philly why not but joe
19:06frazier did have some power behind him and he knows how to throw it and how to
19:10maximize the power obviously vermont has a lot of work
19:17to do but this is the way you learn they're always going to put you in
19:21there with different styles of fighters like today i mean it's hard to fight a
19:24guy that's so much taller than you like like foster long rangy he ties you up
19:31it's a part of moving the fighter putting him in there with different styles of fighters
19:36and that's a difficult style to fight someone like foster
19:43yeah i mean it's not new for vermont to be giving away height and reach he does that every fight but
19:47he's fighting a little higher quality opponent now than he's been in the past
19:51i'll tell you what i would i would i would rather find taller fighter than the short fighter because
19:55top fighters get inside you work the binding work up the middle short shots to close the distance
20:02i think foster's fighting a very smart fight in that when
20:06ramal does get in there he just ties him up and as steve mentioned it which
20:11for garry is not over to break him up there's a nice little uppercut from foster
20:27i was talking to him telling him to come to him i don't think foster's gonna go for that
20:31you know guys that made ramal the favorite in this fight the reason is in his second throw fight
20:43he knocked out andre war yeah okay so it wasn't that andre war it was a it was a hundred all right
20:49that minor detail
21:09that shot landed on his shoulder
21:19we are at a half time all right vermont no jabs we can get that but foster three of 39 in jabs so
21:30if you have foster ahead which i do it's based more on power shots than jabs and that's a little bit
21:35surprising body shots all vermont so it's really what you prefer the foster long punches from distance
21:42which have been power shots or vermont's work to the body which has been sporadic and has been done with
21:48his feet parallel so he's not getting a lot of power on his shot here we see vermont vermont needs to
21:55keep putting that pressure in head moves his head but jab in and be very careful when he's coming in
22:01and don't get countered by the left hand for foster he's got to put a little bit more of a statement
22:06there he keeps fighting backing up backing up but put a little bit more statement than i want to
22:10that jab and that heart left down the middle and just keep turning hold him on inside move to the
22:14right move to the left and the you should win the fight that way just smart boxing
22:20ramal quickly off his stool and trying to get right in the grill of foster and once again foster
22:25manages to parry that
22:26that's it he's standing his ground a little bit more when he throws that one two down the middle
22:42he don't have to back up on the whole time every now and then you see he's bathing them in bathing them in
22:47then let that left hand go great i think vermont is losing his head now yeah when he launches long
22:56shots from far away that's a sign of frustration right and the more he loses his head and he tries
23:00a single punch that's what's going to happen yeah you see with foster he just countered him with three
23:04and four punch combinations simple just let him go yeah foster's fighting a very smart fight and his
23:10shots are more down the middle there's not as wide as vermont vermont just i mean he's sweet look at
23:16him watch the headbutts too and just from this camera angle you can see just watch vermont's feet
23:25steps forward steps or now okay now his feet are parallel again every time he steps forward in his
23:30right foot he loses the boxing stance which is what gives you leverage and power he is not a puncher
23:35in this fight because his feet are parallel right it's that simple
23:49that might have been more elbow than yeah i think there by vermont look at her mouth nice shot inside
23:55by foster yeah he's getting countered all that long foster's getting a little braver yes being
24:02successful yes vermont keeps talking but look at that where's the jab no head movement no jab looking
24:09looking for that single shot
24:21nice hand again
24:23and another one nice combination beautiful best round of the fight yes foster and again inside
24:29it's a great rally right there for foster look at
24:31yeah well the fact of the matter is he's out fighting on the inside he's out fighting for
24:37mom yeah not just on the outside yeah he said he was a pretty decent inside fighter and i see it now for
24:41a tall guy he mentioned him in the fighter meetings he said yeah we'll give him some more
24:47you can see his confidence growing right absolutely absolutely
24:50there he is again left hand in close quarters now he takes the right hand for the ball
25:04and another one that was a big one and now it's foster trying to hold on and i think that one's got
25:07foster's attention that right hand i'm gonna go i was about to say foster keep your hands up when you're
25:13back and down that one now was that enough at the end of the round to give them all around
25:19not how much i don't think so move your head move your head he got you with a clean chuckle you
25:24kept your head up real high that's it breathe how you feel good good you're feeling good
25:32that's right you hear me you're good you're good you're good you're winning the round don't
25:38don't get too don't get too reckless okay don't get too lazy to stop
25:44you gonna work with them inside round five was all foster until maybe the last 20 seconds
25:49oh that right hand was beautifully landed first with a right hand as foster through a right hook
25:54he just got to the trigger first and i'll tell you what if his feet weren't parallel and i keep
26:00bringing that point up i know but he'd have a lot more on those shots that's it
26:04you keep bringing it up for good reason
26:11come on come on in
26:22round six this eight round fight now we don't know how the official score is the scoring this fight of
26:29course but if vermont plans on winning on points he better win every round all three remaining rounds
26:36that was a near clash of heads but again a great job by foster in close quarters yeah making an
26:50adjustment by throwing that left up a couple more and more good right hand by jarmal and he keeps
26:57turning him also keeps turning him all he's got to do is be careful and keep his hands up when he's
27:03backing straight back up sometimes he tends to drop that left hand or the jab hand and you got
27:11vermont coming in with a wild punch you don't want to get careless you don't want to get caught with
27:16that that's what happened at the end of the last round
27:18the peekaboo gloves i see it i see it but then he he really tries to imitate mike but he doesn't get
27:31that leverage the power obviously like mike tyson right the hand speed right the hand speed that's
27:36closeness the power is frozen just behind the because mike would put everything behind his punches
27:48for foster at this point it's all about the left if he can punch and move to the side he's not going
27:53to get hit and it's a it's big in his favor that he's been 10 rounds vermont never passed six
28:00yes yes yes watch your head a clash of heads there watch your hands
28:20popping that jab out there that's all he's got to do pop that jab measure measure
28:24see now he's changing up his left hand instead of a straight left hand comes up the middle with an
28:31uppercut yeah he's done really well with that yes and when you look at vermont coming in is he's
28:35still bending at the waist is he's still bending at the knees if he's not then he's a much bigger
28:40target and it's a sign of fatigue well what struck you is that foster really came in here with an idea
28:46of how he was going to fight this particular guy and he's doing it yeah
28:54yeah he's the more disciplined fighter right in there kept his composure
28:58he's trying to get a good look at this guy here is joshua greer and uh
29:04he's still the cobb we're going to get a good look at this guy here is joshua greer and uh
29:28he'll be fighting a guy who we've seen a couple of times here on showbox and with some success
29:33but both these guys have had success here on showbox joshua greer jr he'll bring his pillow with him
29:41not to go to sleep mind you and glenn deserve that a little dust up at the way in yesterday
29:46they sure did that was round one of this fight so round one tonight will be round two yeah exactly but
29:51uh two fighters who have given us very good fights on showbox now fighting each other
29:55will be a very interesting 10 scheduled 10 rounder
30:03meantime two rounds to go in this fight jalen brunson the point guard for the ncaa champion
30:09villanova wildcats pretty good player this guy was he named player of the year i think somebody named
30:15the player of the year and if they didn't they should have because he was fantastic fantastic
30:23well i think we know what ramal needs to do right he needs a backup yeah
30:32he's got to keep coming he's got to keep firing but he can't get two carols
30:45faster not really throwing huge punches but throwing effective punches enough to make it count yeah enough to
30:56stop vermilion's tracks oh nice nice not even put any power behind it but vermilion's running right into
31:05them shots
31:12oh beautiful
31:19your scorecard steve yeah i think it's a one-sided fight i i don't see foster losing more than maybe one
31:25one round right i have it exactly the same we got a 58 56 for for foster one round difference
31:34there was a right hand
31:37didn't seem to really affect foster though yeah did you see foster started talking to somebody in the
31:42second yeah after he got hit with that shot i think he said i'm okay i think it was some of
31:47her miles of fans that were yelling at him
32:02i'm impressed with foster yeah very composed yeah round number seven
32:09taking his time he's composed you know he knows he's ahead he's not losing his head
32:12and uh he's gonna learn from this fight yeah and so is vermilion yeah he is he's learning the hard
32:20way yes it's good to learn and keep the zero on your record so often we have match-ups on showbox
32:26where fighters either going longer in distance they've ever gone or are fighting much better
32:30opposition than they've ever fought so you really don't know all the time what to think of them
32:33and uh foster is just so far clearly superior yeah my prep my prep freak
32:49come on come on good job good job
32:53lunging again you saw that we're not just lunging
32:57lunging when they're shot
32:58uh foster just really prepared for this fight right he's peppering away
33:07and put away with that lead lead half
33:09it's really starting to dominate rounds now tagging him at will turn easy work
33:23all right figure out last round quick look at the bell we gotta get the water read done all right
33:29yo you know i'm gonna keep it real with you right
33:35if you don't put this boy out we're gonna lose the decisions
33:38yeah you win it but i need i need i need to i need to close up good
33:45you hurt that's all i'm acting non-stop punching man you're not even breathing heavy man all i want you
33:51to go all out and get this boy out we'll lose the draw man give me everything you got this round
33:55yeah because if you don't we don't all right ladies and gentlemen here in south philly time to be
34:00some noise more time than you baby this is round number eight the eight three get up
34:07you're ready baby you're ready baby
34:09so we come to the final three minutes of this fight a fight that has been dominated
34:20by charles at least on in our opinion by charles foster and even in the miles corner they said you got
34:26you got to go knock this guy out punch out off the back of the head well he's trying
34:34they motivated
34:40he's landing some big shots but has there ever been a time where a foster scene card
34:47all foster have to do in this round is throw one two and hold
34:51throw one two and hold move to the right
34:57that's it your mom already lost all the steaming got no steaming in shots
35:02do you think maybe he was weakened by coming down so much away from cruiserweight to light heavy
35:06i don't know possible i think i think foster mentioned that he's probably going to be weak
35:10from all the way he lost he was talking about maybe going down 168 68 talked about it
35:20it's not going to be weak from the right
35:25foster's doing well and from what we hear he has a younger brother who's ain't no william foster
35:29might be the best fighter in the family something to look for
35:34yeah foster was fighting a very smart very clever fight
35:40yeah he's not letting vermont do what he wants to do stop it in his tracks
35:44look at that
35:49walks him down
35:53no measuring charlie
35:57short left hand from foster
35:59ducks under a right hand from vermont
36:01right
36:08for miles still seems intent on trying to get inside at this point he's a lot better off just winging
36:14shots from a medium distance not too far away because he won't land but he can't do any real
36:20damage
36:29oh there was a right hand but again foster to take a backward step
36:36foster's been down once in his career he was in his second pro fight
36:48oh
36:50nice stinky left hand then uppercut
36:53watch out
36:55yeah leading on him just let the club run yeah that's it
37:03he knows it too yeah
37:09he's taking it he's thinking boxer yes he is and obviously vermelle's not
37:13so that's it
37:19i think a really dominant performance for charles foster
37:30and it wasn't for a lack of trying on the part of alvin vermont but
37:34foster was just having none of it yeah his effort was there but his technique was poor throughout the
37:38fight that's why he when he did land some so many big big shots nothing happened
37:48it's slowly but surely foster gained control of this fight round two was really the only
37:54negative for foster ramal landed some big shots but after that foster didn't make the same mistakes
38:01anymore and he started coming with uppercuts mostly left uppercuts in addition to the uh straight
38:08left and overhand left
38:12again vermont landing some shots there big shot that was his best punch of the fight that right
38:16hand but still you see foster didn't even feel the need to hold there he poured out of it
38:22some good good exchanges in the fight
38:29round seven again all those uppercuts took their tolls i don't think that vermont was ever heard
38:35he landed a big right hand there and look at the reaction nothing he's saying i was not hurt at all
38:41so if you told me that foster would only land 12 of his jabs in this fight i might say will he be in
38:47trouble but he landed more power shots and i feel he won more than the these numbers would indicate
38:52especially look at the difference in body shots for a mile not really getting into those body shots
38:57with that much power yeah that number with jabs is a surprising number i think only eight landed
39:04there's a guy that we have seen on numerous occasions here on showbox j-rock back in the picture
39:11number one contender of the ibf he beat nathaniel gallimore who i believe is uh going to be in josh
39:17greer's corner in the next fight and he like all of us want to see who officially won this fight so
39:24we take up center of the ring mark prato with the decision mark
39:32ladies and gentlemen let's have some applause for these hard-hitting sluggers here in south philadelphia
39:41having concluded eight rounds we go to the judges scorecards steve weisfeld saw the action 77-75
39:49pierre benoist scored it 78-74 and dana de paulo saw it 79-73 all three judges in favor of your winner by
40:00unanimous decision still undefeated from new haven connecticut charles
40:09the truth foster
40:20so there's your winner charles foster runs his record to 16-0 now with eight
40:25knockdown knockouts rather and uh there's no question we're going to see this guy again
40:28yeah all three judges gave that second round to vermal but dana de paulo didn't give
40:32from our any more rounds and she had it the way we did 79-73
40:39so there's your winner and the rosa family needless to say rojas family
40:45big part needless to say very very happy with uh their man winning this one charles foster remains
40:51undefeated 16 and oh we move along now our third fight of the evening from here at the 2300 arena in
40:59philly this one is in the super bantamoid division and features two guys with a single loss apiece
41:05glenn de zern jr and joshua greer jr in a matchup of showbox return
