A deadly cloudburst struck Uttarakhand’s high-altitude village of Dharali in Uttarkashi district on August 5, 2025, triggering massive flash floods that left at least 4 dead and over 50 feared missing. Entire homes were swept away as the Kheer Ganga river overflowed. Harrowing footage shows villagers screaming for help as torrents of water tear through the settlement. Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami confirmed that SDRF, NDRF, and district authorities are conducting rescue ops on a war footing. This is one of the worst natural disasters to hit the region in years.
