New Retro Horror Game Coming to Epic Games

Here lately horror fans have been nearly spoiled with the plethora of titles released, on itch.io for PC anyhow. It will take something special to stand out and that is exactly what Spirit Catcher 93’ brings to the table – A LOT of uniqueness in a genre that is quickly becoming saturated. Personally I am getting a bit of Mansion of Hidden Souls (affiliate link) vibe from the trailer – Sega CD fans, all two of you, will probably get that reference. 00:00All right, who remembers Mansion of Hidden Souls on the Sega CD for the Sega Genesis?

00:06What about Hell, a Cyberpunk Thriller for PC and 3DO?

00:11The reason I ask is because there's a new game called Spirit Catcher 93

00:16that's coming out for PC using the Epic Game Store.

00:22The reason they're using the Epic Game Store is because they're using Unreal Engine to make the game,

00:27so if Unreal Engine runs good on your system, this Spirit Catcher 93 will run well on your system, or should.

00:35You know, you're somewhat, from what I gather from the little bit of story available,

00:42you're in like a digital realm.

00:45I think maybe the Matrix?

00:47But the graphics look like a black and white version of Mansion of Hidden Souls from the Sega CD,

00:53if the Sega CD could have done real-time 3D graphics that look like that.

01:00That is to say, it's grainy.

01:03It's on purpose.

01:04There's a lot of lack of detail.

01:06There's a lot of things that you can't really see.

01:09It all adds, well, it adds to the aura, to the mystique, the horror.

01:14However, if your goal is to uncover what's going on, you don't really know who the hell you are,

01:19you're running from someone named the Shepherd,

01:22and the world around you is constantly changing.

01:25So, you know, depending on how you feel about that type of game,

01:28the graphics, I will admit, may be a turn-off for you,

01:32because for a lot of people, I could see these graphics being headache-inducing.

01:42And, you know, judge for yourself.
