A Ukrainian drone strike has ignited a fire at an oil depot in Sochi, one of Russia’s most well-known resort cities. The overnight attack caused significant damage but no reported casualties. This strike follows a similar hit on the Ryazan oil refinery, as Ukraine continues to target Russian energy infrastructure in retaliation for deadly attacks on its own territory.
Meanwhile, Russia launched a massive wave of drones and missiles across Ukraine, killing and injuring civilians in several regions including Zaporizhia, Kherson, and Mykolaiv. Air defenses managed to intercept most threats, but the damage on the ground remains severe.
As the war escalates, political pressure builds from the West. Former U.S. President Donald Trump has set a mid-August deadline for peace talks, threatening "severe tariffs" on Russia. But President Putin says his demands haven’t changed — including territorial concessions from Ukraine and an end to its NATO ambitions.
