00:00Remember, a year ago I posted a video of a PC assembly tutorial, my PC, the one I use every day.
00:06And during the live streams, I explained to you the problem I had that I couldn't solve.
00:11For over a year I have been dealing with this problem.
00:15This problem was related to RAM, I couldn't activate XMP.
00:19We asked ourselves various questions, 2 bars, 4 bars, which is better, etc.
00:23But in any case, I never managed to activate XMP.
00:26Today it's resolved, I managed to activate it.
00:29We'll see why I made this problem, quite simply.
00:33We'll review my PC spec sheet, then we'll do the tests and see which is best in the end.
00:392 sticks, 4 sticks, XMP without XMP, here we go.
00:42Let's review the terms.
00:59An MSI B760 Gaming plus Wi-Fi.
01:03Mid-range motherboard, very well sold, which does the job very well.
01:06I have 64 GB of RAM in DDR5 6000 MHz Corsair.
01:11So why 64GB of RAM? Because I do video editing, encoding in 4K, etc.
01:16And so, suddenly, I need it.
01:18If you're into gaming and streaming, 32GB of RAM is more than enough.
01:22Like this, like this, I tell you.
01:23This RAM CL, quite simply, is CL36, precisely CL36363676 with a maximum voltage of 1.35.
01:34And so, when I started my PC, I went into the BIOS, I activated XMP.
01:39The PC simply remains on a black screen.
01:41At some point it will reboot and ask me to go back into BIOS.
01:46Either my DDR5 runs at 4800 maximum and no more.
01:51Well, I have to find another solution.
01:53I had found the solution to Memory Try It.
01:56So where you're going to go into the BIOS settings and you're going to do it manually.
02:00However, I was limited to 5600 MHz.
02:04I couldn't use all 6000 of my RAM.
02:07In addition, if I simply went to reconfigure the CLs of my RAM, that is to say put them back to 363636 because they are CLs, they are latencies which are pre-written in this Memory Try It.
02:19Well, again, while changing the voltage etc., the RAM crashed and I couldn't put the 6000 MHz.
02:26I was forced to stay in 5600.
02:28You're going to tell me, 5600, it's going well, but mentally, it's a headache.
02:33Yeah, because actually, it's something that always stays in your head.
02:36Why isn't my PC running? Why can't I enable XMP?
02:39Anyway, I don't know if you're like that.
02:40Let me know in the comments if you're like me.
02:42But that's pretty boring.
02:44Well, I thought, let's test it.
02:46For a year, I tested again and again.
02:48I would go into the BIOS, make voltage adjustments, etc.
02:52Then, well, I asked the questions to various PC pro-YouTubers.
02:56And there, well, surprise.
02:59No one has an answer.
03:01No one can give you an answer.
03:02When you look on the internet, you have videos on how to enable XMP.
03:08So, you have millions of them.
03:09I mean, there won't be any problem there.
03:10We figured out how to activate it.
03:12But, in any case, there is never a concrete answer.
03:14Even on Reddit forums etc.
03:16That's it.
03:17We're going to talk to you about Memory Try It.
03:20But, never a concrete answer.
03:22Well, so I saw some great videos while searching by the neck.
03:25Besides, that's how I met Kang and CPC.
03:28Which, I find, frankly, very good content.
03:31You should also know, well, thanks to him, I also learned that RAM sticks are, in the end, built by three manufacturers.
03:39So.
03:39And then they are distributed to the different brands.
03:41So you know.
03:42One of the manufacturers, well, obviously, is Samsung.
03:45We suspected it.
03:46And then, well, there are two more.
03:47There is Micron, if I remember correctly.
03:48And SK Inix.
03:50So here you have the three builders.
03:52Well, let's get back to our sheep.
03:53Is it better, these four 5600 RAM sticks, in the end?
03:58Is it better, two RAM sticks, still 64 GB, 6000 MHz, but in total, and still, well, obviously, in Corsair, to see if it starts?
04:09Is it better without XMP? Is it better with XMP?
04:13What I suggest to you is that we go into the BIOS.
04:16We'll check them out.
04:17I'll prove to you that it doesn't start.
04:19I will then put it back to MemoryTryHit 5600 MHz.
04:23We're going to do a test.
04:25We're also going to test a PC benchmark to see what it gives me in benchmarks.
04:30Next, I'm going to go back to the two RAM stick version with XMP enabled.
04:36We're going to do another test and a PCMark, a PC benchmark, to see if we actually gain anything in the end.
04:44And we're also going to do a little video game test.
04:46Well, let's not worry, we'll just focus on Fortnite.
04:48I'm going to go to Fortnite.
04:50We will see the stability of my FPS and then we will see the stability of my FPS with XMP enabled.
04:57I think after all this, we will have our answer.
04:59Whether or not it is better, four bars 100 to 5600 set to the maximum of what they could give
05:04or two 6000 sticks with XMP enabled.
05:09Come on, let's get to the test.
05:11Okay, we're in the task manager.
05:14As you can see, I have selected the memory.
05:17We are at 63.7 GB.
05:20And if we come to the task manager, here we are at 5600.
05:26So we can see it here.
05:27There are four locations used.
05:30There you have it, here you have the task manager that proves it to you.
05:34Then we will also go into the BIOS to see that it does not start under XMP.
05:37First, we will run a test and a PCMark, a PC Benchmark.
05:43Then I will prove to you that it does not start under XMP and we will test the same with two sticks.
05:49So, here we are on a memory marker, so RAM.
05:54So, as you can see, we have a memory marker of 3780.
05:57If we look, I have the database operations with a 13471.
06:01There you have it, the different data.
06:04Threaded memory, available RAM, memory read, cached memory read, memory write and memory latency.
06:12We note that, normally, it should be around 36,
06:17but the latency on the Corsair DDR5 Vengeance 6000.
06:21And we are at 42, which is still very, very slow.
06:24Now what I'm going to do is I'm going to run a full Benchmark to see the PC score.
06:29And then we'll do it all again when I change the RAM.
06:33Well, 14263, that's the PC's total score.
06:40So, you can see the different scores here, where we have the UST Score,
06:43we have 2D, 3D graphic marker, memory marker and hard disk marker.
06:49So I blame you.
06:50So for the haters, I'll do it this way.
06:53Hop there!
06:54And there you have it, there are 4 bars, okay?
06:57So, like that, here, we saw that it was Corsair.
07:01Now what I'm going to do is I'm going to restart the PC,
07:03show you that we are in Memory Try It mode and that there is no XMP working.
07:10Well, as you can see, I'm on Fortnite, let's go see my settings.
07:14And then, as we can see, I am in NVIDIA DLSS, I am in balanced,
07:19I don't play all the time because I like to have nice graphics,
07:22I'm not a pro gamer, that's all.
07:24So, sometimes we're epic, sometimes we're high, okay?
07:27And the FPS display, I go back.
07:30And if we go, well, here we go, the game, we go back, here we go, we are around 183.
07:37Well, after that, it will vary a little bit, inevitably, eh, as we can see,
07:41If I raise the sky, there you go, I reach my maximum 240 FPS.
07:45So that's still with my 64GB of unactivated 5600 XMP RAM.
07:51We'll see what happens with the 64 GB.
07:55Two XMP enabled sticks.
07:58Well, I just enabled XMP.
08:01As you can see, normally, there, he puts me others.
08:03So we should be at 6000, 36, 44, 44, 1400, so 1.4V.
08:09Actually, it must not be like that at all.
08:11We must be in 36, 36, 36, 76, 1,35.
08:15And as you can see, even though it is activated, here, already, it remains at 6000.
08:18So, we're going to reboot to see if Windows starts.
08:23So, here I will leave.
08:27So, as you can see, I've passed.
08:29So, there you go, I changed it, I put everything as I'm going to do it.
08:34Hop.
08:35And now we'll see.
08:37You will see here that it will go directly into standby mode.
08:40And I won't have a signal anymore.
08:42So, there you go.
08:43So, it's over, he's not going to launch.
08:47Well, as you can see here, I'm trying to get back into the BIOS.
08:50I had to restart the PC several times.
08:52It will, don't worry, it will give me an error message so that I can get back into the BIOS.
08:57He will ask me if I want the basic settings.
09:00Once that's done, well, we can go back into the BIOS and put it back into normal mode.
09:06There we go, here we go.
09:07As you can see, it shows up.
09:09So.
09:09So it tells me there was a RAM overclock memory problem.
09:13And we're going to leave with F1.
09:15Hop.
09:16And here we will return to the BIOS.
09:21And there, you will see that in fact, he gave it to me in 4000.
09:24XMP is always enabled.
09:26So.
09:27So that's the problem.
09:28And actually, this problem comes from the fact that there are 4 RAM sticks on the MSI B760 Gaming plus Wi-Fi
09:34which do not support 4 bars.
09:37And so, you have to go through 2 bars.
09:38That's what I'm going to do now.
09:40I'm going to take it apart.
09:41I'll show you.
09:43This way we can never go crazy.
09:44I'm going to switch to 2 sticks of 32 to stay at 64 GB.
09:48And then we'll go back and do the tests.
09:51So.
09:52The two 32 GB Corsair sticks are installed.
09:55The old ones are here.
09:56As you can see, there are indeed 4 of them.
09:58So I'm not lying.
10:00And now we're going to do the tests.
10:02So, here we are back to the BIOS.
10:05You can see that with the 2 new sticks, I am still at the same storage.
10:09So, 64.
10:11And here, now, we're going to activate XMP.
10:15Hop.
10:16So.
10:17There it is activated.
10:19If we go to the OC, with XMP activated, we have the new CL which is automatically put in place.
10:28Now we're going to see if everything is okay.
10:31And there you have it, everything is good below.
10:33At the CPU voltage level, at the RAM voltage level.
10:38Good.
10:39Well, we'll start this up and see if everything works.
10:42Good.
10:43We are on the task manager.
10:45We are well in memory.
10:46You can see that now we are shooting at 6000.
10:49Well, 2 out of 4 bars.
10:51And we are still at the same storage.
10:54So.
10:55Now we're going to do the memory tests for the complete PC.
10:59And then, on Fortnite.
11:01GOOD.
11:02We just did the memory test with the 2 XMP sticks activated.
11:07And as we can see compared to earlier, we have gained a lot in performance.
11:12Before, we were at 3780.
11:15Here we have almost 200 more points.
11:18Now, we're going to look at the overall score of a PC bench test before heading into Fortnite.
11:24So.
11:25The PCMark bench test of the full PC is complete.
11:28Just now we had a score of 14263.4.
11:33As we can see, we have a score of 16061.2.
11:37We won everything.
11:39So, I remind you that we are in the same boat.
11:40We are only on 2 bars in XMP activated 6000 MHz.
11:45So, there you have it.
11:46So, you can see that there is still a big difference in performance.
11:50Now we're going to go see it in video games.
11:51So I went back to Fortnite at the same location and this time I'm at 270 FPS.
11:59So, looking at the sky, obviously, always with the graphics balanced.
12:04If we go see, because well, just in case, there are still people who will tell me, yes, no, you weren't at the same setting.
12:10Blah blah blah.
12:10So I go down and as you can see I'm still balanced with Epic etc.
12:17So, I gained more or less, compared to these 4 bars in 5600 XMP not activated, I gained more or less about twenty additional FPS.
12:28So, we're at the end of this video.
12:30This is the conclusion.
12:31So when choosing your motherboard, make sure you check if XMP will be compatible with your RAM sticks.
12:39This is important.
12:40As you could see, there was a real importance at the level of RAM sticks, XMP, BIOS settings which proved that, precisely, in benchmark, we had additional points, therefore more performance on the PC.
12:52We had extra points in the RAM test, so more performance in RAM.
12:56And of course, this performance will be reflected in your encoding.
13:00If you do encoding, it will affect your gaming and streaming for better stability.
13:05So, there you go, I think it was important to make this video.
13:08I, however, realized my mistakes and finally found the problem with my RAM.
13:14Now it's a problem that's solved and that's good.
13:17I hope that you, in any case, it will help you to solve your problems or to better understand your problems on this side.
13:24It was a small test, a video that was boring to do with all the tests, etc.
13:28But at least I learned a lot of things and so, as a result, it was instructive.
13:31Anyway, leave me a comment to tell me what you think.
13:34Don't hesitate to subscribe and give me a like.
13:37Hi !
