00:01Waste, refuse, rubbish. No matter what you call it, it remains one of the world's biggest environmental challenges.
00:08But in Central Asia, Kazakhstan is taking a different approach.
00:11The country has launched a huge national campaign called Taza Kazakhstan, which means Clean Kazakhstan.
00:18Introduced last year by the president Kasım Zhumartukaev, the program marks a new model of environmental action.
00:24Taza Kazakhstan program, it's not just a program, it's more of a mindset that we've built here, especially in these volunteering programs, and there are a lot of them.
00:33It could just start with me and my sister. We can just go out one day and we can just go and explain, even little children, that everything starts from themselves and, of course, from the government as well.
00:45The campaign targets Kazakhstan's most pressing environmental issues, from cleaning up polluted areas and planting trees to modernizing waste collection and increasing recycling rates.
00:59Since the beginning of the year, nearly 600 cleanup events have taken place across the country, involving 2 million people.
01:08It's a nationwide effort for a cleaner future, and you can see it in action right here.
01:13The initiative brings together everyone, from school children to business leaders, but volunteers are a driving force behind the campaign.
01:21The new generation is growing up with green values.
01:51Environmental education is integrated into school programs, helping young people understand their role in building a sustainable future.
01:59But one of the crucial parts of the Taza Kazakhstan project aims to deal with serious, long-standing environmental challenges across the country.
02:07To address the lack of proper landfills, the government launched a large-scale program to build new waste disposal areas.
02:15As part of the ecological campaign, cities across Kazakhstan are receiving investment to modernize their waste.
02:45In Almaty City, for example, the fleet has been expanded with 50 new trucks.
02:52Modern approaches are enhancing Taza Kazakhstan's impact, making the project more efficient.
02:57Even space technology is part of the solution.
03:00Kazakhstan now uses satellite monitoring to detect illegal landfills.
03:04The system detects waste hotspots, each one marked in red.
03:09These satellite images don't just reveal dumping zones, they also help track floods, forest fires and other environmental threats across Kazakhstan.
03:18At the very beginning, when we started our project, the space monitoring program, we have detected more than 9,000 solid waste formations over 60 cities in Kazakhstan.
03:32We are delivering data to the state authorities and the state authorities are working with the local administrations.
03:39We are trying to make the situation manageable and predictable.
03:44The results of Taza Kazakhstan's project is also visible through digital tools.
03:49This telegram chatbot allows people to report illegal dump sites, street pollution or broken infrastructure
03:55and receive real-time updates on how their requests are being handled.
04:00This is Taza Kazakhstan's bot. I just sent a report and it's already been accepted.
04:05As you can see, it's quick and everyone can use it.
04:08Since the bot was launched, citizens have submitted over 22,000 reports and more than 19,000 cases have already been resolved.
04:17The telegram Taza-kazbot was visible through the activity and the result of the local authorities.
04:24The population was visible in the public.
04:26The public has appeared to be an easy, accessible function, where it can show the problems that it is around,
04:30and that it wants to solve the purpose of its own city.
04:33Now a lot has changed.
04:34These last half of the years, the most important dynamic and the most important result is,
04:38that our population became more attentive, eco-assisted, and this is the best victory on today.
04:43Kazakhstan leads Central Asia's green transformation.
04:46Tazak-Kazakhstan ekologiczne jest now a national mission uniting the country
04:51and proving that real environmental change starts when everyone takes part.
