00:00The sun shines, so plenty to talk to here.
00:09Welcome to viewers who have joined us on BBC One Scotland for the opening weekend of the league season.
00:14As ever, no shortage of drama, plenty to get stuck into.
00:18Tony Dougherty and Rory Lawyer alongside me in the studio, guys.
00:22And we'll start with you two, Rory.
00:23We've just seen real drama down at Rugby Park this afternoon.
00:27And it looked as if they were cruising the home side 2-0 up, but it's very much game on now.
00:32Yes, it is indeed.
00:33They've just scored to make it 2-1.
00:35Kamarnik started the game really, really well in terms of the first half.
00:39Daniels got off the mark before Watson doubled their lead.
00:41But in this second half, it's been a different story.
00:43Zach Ruddin on, Kerry off, and Livingston have looked at a different side.
00:46They won a penalty, which resulted in Stanger being sent off.
00:50So Kamarnik down to ten men.
00:52Robbie Muirhead converting the penalty as it stands.
00:54Kamarnik two, Livingston one.
00:55And Tony Dougherty, you've just given a lot of praise to Davy Martindale.
00:58He had to find something to change the way this game was going.
01:01And he did it.
01:02His tweaks he made at half-time, they're certainly providing big dividends now.
01:06He did.
01:07And it's just, it's quite simple.
01:08He's just went more basic.
01:09He's went more direct.
01:10And he's played in forward areas.
01:12And I think on the pitch at Rugby Park, that's the way to play it.
01:16You know, Kamarnik had made a substitution at this area there on.
01:18Keeping a front two, they brought Bruce Anderson on for Daniels.
01:22They've now made another sub and they're now going to have to try and see the game out.
01:26Playing with one striker.
01:27Bruce up there and he's on.
01:28And I think behind that, I think it's a, not a full look at Rory at the moment,
01:31but it's probably a 4-4-1 that they're looking at playing.
01:34But they're certainly looking to, you know, control that midfield area
01:38and stop the stem of flow that Levy have put on them.
01:40Airdre pulled the goal back.
01:42Airdre won.
01:43Ross County 2.
01:45And we brought you the goal.
01:46The Iran Athletic won.
01:47Elgin City won.
01:48Myles Gaffney with that equaliser on 69 minutes.
01:52Four games in the Championship for you this afternoon.
01:54It opened, of course, last night.
01:56Full coverage on BBC Scotland.
01:58It finished our Broth 1.
01:59Air United 1.
02:01Let's then get to the game at McDermott Park.
02:03What a game this has been.
02:05Chick Young is there for us.
02:06St. Johnston up against Partick Thistle.
02:09Stroll in the sunshine for St. Johnston.
02:12They lead this one by four goals to one.
02:15Just an oral blow, actually.
02:16Jamie Cullen has had to be, had Gullen,
02:19has had to come off to be replaced by a substitution.
02:23We'll confirm that in a second, just who's going on.
02:25But he took a little knock.
02:26But everything else has gone perfectly well for Saints this afternoon.
02:30Four goals in the first half.
02:32Thistle actually took the lead after 15 minutes.
02:34As I said, Paddy Reading, then Gullen made it one each.
02:37And then it was a hat-trick.
02:39Two before half-time.
02:40One after the break for Josh McPague.
02:42He had to go off injured.
02:43He's been replaced and went off to a standing ovation.
02:46But a magnificent performance by St. Johnston.
02:49They are romping it.
02:50Taking Partick Thistle apart.
02:52The lead by four goals to one.
02:54Kenny and we've played 70 minutes.
02:57Fantastic start for the home side.
02:59They are not quite such an exciting encounter.
03:01Down at Caplow this afternoon.
03:03And Morton at Holmpton and Firmland there for us is Willie Miller.
03:06No, it's not exciting in terms of, you know, goals flying in Kenny.
03:11But it's a decent game, you know.
03:12It's very competitive.
03:15It's probably, you know, the level that these two teams are at.
03:18They're strong.
03:19They're physical.
03:20They get the ball up the park early.
03:22They support it well.
03:23You know, they're fit.
03:24They're energetic.
03:25There has been chances created.
03:27Some good goalkeeping either side as well, either end as well.
03:30But, you know, just that lack of quality in and around the box.
03:34So, after that first 20 minutes, I've got more of a smile on my face, I must say.
03:38Even though it still is goalless.
03:40Yeah, goalless there at Caplow.
03:42It's very much game on.
03:43Billy Dodds and the match you're watching today.
03:45Airdrie at home to Ross County.
03:47It certainly is.
03:48It's still Airdrie 1, Ross County 2.
03:50But Airdrie on the attack.
03:51And you can see they've got their tails up after that goal from Ewan Henderson a few moments ago.
03:56Ross County looked an easy street.
03:58They had taken a 2-0 lead with an identical double from two corners in swinging.
04:05Achiel Wright met them both in the front area.
04:07Popped them into the net to have them in easy street.
04:09But that goal from Ewan Henderson a few moments ago has certainly put a span on the works.
04:14And it's all to play for here.
04:17Airdrie.
04:18Alan Preston as it starts part for us as afternoon, Alan.
04:21Potentially a shock in the cards there.
04:23Yeah, perfect away day so far.
04:24For Queen's part, they took the lead in nine minutes.
04:27Roddy McGregor pulled down in the box.
04:28Referee points to the spot.
04:29Michael Ruth steps up, sent the keeper the wrong way.
04:32Rovers have been rotten, if I'm being honest.
04:35And Queen's have been quality.
04:36So it's 1-0 to the away side.
04:39Thank you to Alan Preston, Rory.
04:41We were having a chat earlier on about the title winners across all four leagues.
04:46You've seen Johnson very much putting a stamp on things this afternoon.
04:49They were one of the title favourites.
04:52They've been rampant according to Cic.
04:53You'd fancy them to be very close come the end of the season.
04:56Yeah, I did think a couple of weeks ago they had a bit more business to do, which they've been out and done.
05:00But everyone's spoken, and yourself, Kenny, has spoken about Simo Valakari and his way of playing and his style of playing,
05:06which would probably be more suited to the championship, where they've got more domination of the ball.
05:11And that's proven to be the case today.
05:13Getting one of your players on a hat-trick, McPake and Gullin adding to the scoreline as well.
05:18You know, fantastic news for Simo Valakari.
05:20And what a start.
05:21And they will, without a shadow of a doubt, be up there come the end of the season as Livingston get a free kick in a dangerous area here.
05:26Yeah, we'll keep you updated on that one.
05:28Tony, what do you like about the squad that Simo Valakari has put together?
05:32You saw them very recently.
05:34Well, there's certainly more depth there.
05:35You know, even just look at the substitution there.
05:37Josh McPake comes off, and a really good young player in McKaynesley Kirk comes on to replace him.
05:41As I mentioned, the game I was at the other night, Stevie Mallon comes off.
05:44You've got Sam Stanton sitting there.
05:46So there's good players there, and there's a good blend, I think, you know, of young players and experience as well.
05:51And that's a fantastic, that's a statement win today from St. Johnson.
05:54So here we are, Rory, a chance for Livingston to draw themselves level down at Rugby Park.
05:59Just a free kick from just outside the box.
06:01Yeah, he's capable, Robbie Muirhead.
06:03He's done it before, and he'll do it again at some point.
06:05It's just whether he'll do it here, about 25, 30 yards out.
06:09He's stepping up, probably slightly the wrong sight.
06:11He's just left the centre of the goal.
06:14He's just running up now.
06:16A little stuttered run up.
06:17He hits it for half a second, I thought, but it's just went wide.
06:20Still 2-1.
06:21Yeah, so looking then at the title contenders, Billy Dodge, you're watching Ross County this afternoon.
06:27You were speaking earlier on.
06:28Of course, you know Roy McGregor, the chairman, very well up there.
06:31You think he'll throw everything at it to try and get themselves back into the top flight.
06:35I think he's already shown, Kenny, that he's going to do that with some of his signings.
06:40Declan Gallagher, Quinn, Ross Docherty, the likes, and Gary Mackay-Steven.
06:46But I also think if it's not going quite to plan midway through the season, I think he'll go at it again to try and get them back up and into the premiership.
06:56He doesn't like messing about in the championship too long.
06:59Here's one of those decisions you're talking about earlier in the programme for the boys, where he told them the fingers were up to point.
07:07The eight-second rule down to five, and now they have a corner kick, Airdrie, because Ross Laidlaw took far too long, and Airdrie have the corner.
07:15So pushing for this equaliser as we speak, Kenny.
07:18Yeah, just to elaborate on that, we discussed it earlier in the programme.
07:20Rory, you were at the VAR briefing from Willie Collin this afternoon, so people who are not aware of this law change that has just been described by Billy Dodge, just give us your interpretation of it.
07:29Yeah, if a goalkeeper catches the ball and is in comfortable possession with the ball in his hands, an eight-second countdown will start in the referee's head, and when he gets to five seconds, he'll lift his hand, put his five fingers up, and then display a countdown from five.
07:41If the goalkeeper still has the ball at the end of that, a corner will be given to the opposing team.
07:45Seems to be a good change, doesn't it, Tony? It's something that's going to get the game moving faster, and we all want that.
07:50Yeah, I think so, and I think it's great, you know, and it encourages positive play as well.
07:54You know, it's rewarding with a corner kick, which allows you an opportunity in your opposition.
07:57So, you know, I think it's a good move for football, you know, and certainly for attacking football.
08:02We went round all our pundits earlier on, Tony looking for predictions for the four league winners.
08:07It was a clean sweep for Celtic, certainly on Sportsound.
08:11There's Arthur, and you faced Brendan Rodgers' side many times last season.
08:15You also were up against Rangers, who many would expect to be their closest contenders.
08:20Why is it you think Celtic will be the side to beat once again, even though Brendan Rodgers yesterday was very strong,
08:27that he hasn't been back sufficiently, he feels, to strengthen the squad?
08:30I just think continuity there, you know, they've got a really strong squad.
08:34Yes, they've lost a few players from that.
08:36As I said, I think before the end of the window, you'll see a couple more coming in of quality.
08:41But I think they've got real momentum in that squad, and a real understanding now of how the manager wants to play.
08:45And, you know, I think for that, you know, Russell Martin's coming in, he's having to gel a new squad.
08:50He's having to, you know, get them round to his philosophy, the way he wants to play.
08:53Celtic already have that, you know, and it's now just bringing the players in to impact on that,
08:58and I think they'll do that, and I think for that reason, for me, they're still forwards.
09:01Oh, to each equaliser.
09:03Ewan Henderson, what a free kick, and it all came from that decision.
09:07Corner.
09:07Where they were taking too long, yeah, didn't come quite from the corner.
09:11They took the corner, they got a free kick edge of the box, and my word,
09:15Ewan Henderson has bent a beauty right into the top corner, past Ross Laidlaw.
09:19It is now Eardry 2, Ross County 2.
09:22What a finish.
09:23Yeah, fantastic fight back from the home side there.
09:26We've spoken so much about Rhys McCabe.
09:28There were times last season, no-one ever suggested he was under pressure in terms of a job.
09:33I think you have plenty of credit in the bank, Rory.
09:35The style of football that they play, they seem to be back on track now, don't they?
09:39Yeah, I remember speaking to him.
09:40I played with Rhys when he was a youngster at Rangers,
09:42and I remember speaking to him in a pre-season game where they beat St Myrne a few seasons ago.
09:47It wasn't pre-season, it was the Betford League Cup group,
09:49and he'd said it's a tough league, but that suits us, because teams want to play against us.
09:53So right from the outset, he had that vision of how they would play.
09:57And they had a tough year last year, don't get me wrong,
09:58and they got away with one a little bit with the Hamilton situation.
10:01So, you know, it's a positive result to come back from 2-0 down.
10:04They'll have the momentum and fancy themselves to go on and win that.
10:06But can I just say, on that rule change, the keeper will not do that again.
10:10And that's why it's in place, because he will not make that mistake again.
10:13Yeah, Billy Dogg is at that.
10:14Guys, guys, you might not be surprised to hear this,
10:18eh, Kenny, but Billy Davis has just been booked.
10:21Yeah, so just for people tuning in on television this afternoon,
10:25Will, you brought this to us at the top of the programme.
10:26There's no big story here,
10:28but Billy Davis is in the dugout this afternoon for the home side.
10:31He is, yeah.
10:32It's personal reasons why Dougie Emery isn't here today,
10:37so don't read anything else into it.
10:38And Billy's obviously getting involved in the touchline,
10:41and it was a brave official down in the byline actually
10:46indicating to Billy to shut his mouth.
10:49I thought to myself, good luck with that one.
10:52And he got a yellow card.
10:53Stevie May just on the pitch, huge chance,
10:55cut back from Montgomery, who's had a tough afternoon,
10:57but he's come into the game in the last 5-10 minutes,
10:59and he's cut one back to Stevie May,
11:00and Stevie May's shot, and he'll be disappointed.
11:02Maybe if he'd been on the pitch 5-10 minutes longer,
11:04it might have been a different outcome,
11:05but Livingston really turning the screw here.
11:07Still 2-1 come on.
11:08Yeah, they're absolutely going for it down there at Rugby Park.
11:10Let's get back to Billy Dodge.
11:11He's at Airdrie Forrest this afternoon.
11:13Of course, Billy spent the end of last season in at Rangers,
11:16but you yourself agree that Celtic are certainly title favourites this season.
11:20Just talk to us about how difficult it is.
11:21There's so much change required in that squad at Rangers,
11:24and that takes time for it all to gel, doesn't it?
11:27Yeah, it does, and I heard Tony talking about you need time.
11:32Sadly, you don't get it at clubs like Rangers,
11:34and if you're not winning games constantly and consistently,
11:40week in, week out, you're going to find yourself behind Celtic,
11:43because they have that continuity, as the boys were saying,
11:46where they'll put a string of results together,
11:48and you've got to try and match that,
11:49and if not, you're under pressure,
11:51and they've got nearly a whole new team.
11:54I think it's eight arrivals and a few more to come, probably,
11:57so that's all got to be gelled together.
11:59I'm not saying it's impossible.
12:00Surely it's a penalty, is it?
12:01Yeah, penalty to Raid Rovers.
12:04Right, back to starts part, Alan Preston.
12:05Yeah, it's across to the back post.
12:07It's headed back, and it's struck the hand
12:08of one of the players.
12:10I think it's Callum...
12:11Sorry, I think it's Charlie Fox.
12:13It's hit.
12:14He's been yellow carded,
12:16having a go at the referee.
12:18It was just a ball to the back post,
12:19headed back across.
12:20It must have hit Fox on the hand.
12:22The referee immediately points to the spot,
12:25giving Queen's Park a penalty in the first half.
12:29Chance now, and it will be...
12:31It looks like Dylan Easton,
12:32once everyone's cleared out the box,
12:35this might take a little bit of time,
12:36because the referee's trying to clear it.
12:38Already booked, as I said,
12:40Charlie Fox for his remonstrations
12:42against the referee.
12:44It's not been great from Rovers,
12:47they've had a bit more pressure,
12:48but it's not as if Callum Ferry
12:50and the goal for Queen's
12:51is a save after save after save to make,
12:53but with 11 minutes to go,
12:56there's a chance here
12:56for Dylan Easton to equalise.
12:59He'll come and take this right-footed.
13:01The referee is, again,
13:02people are encroaching on the box.
13:03He's trying to keep them out.
13:05This is an important one,
13:07even this early on in the season.
13:08You don't want to lose
13:09your first game of the season.
13:11Yeah, particularly at home
13:12against a side that are expected to struggle.
13:14Exactly, so referee's still
13:16trying to clear the box,
13:17telling them all
13:18stay out of the box.
13:20It'll be Dylan Easton here,
13:21he'll come and take it.
13:22Right-footed at one point.
13:25Steps up now.
13:27Goal!
13:271-1.
13:28Game on, it starts,
13:29but Willie Millerson,
13:30he chuckled himself there
13:32in the back.
13:33Is it more?
13:33Antics in the dugout.
13:34It was nothing to do
13:35with Alan's commentary
13:36of that penalty, Alan,
13:37so if I put you off,
13:38Neil Lennon's been showing
13:39the yellow card now.
13:41He just couldn't keep it in,
13:43could he?
13:44He just had to equalise things
13:46in the dugout.
13:47And he turned around to the fans
13:48and gave them a thumbs up.
13:50Yeah, you've got a feel
13:51for the refereeing team
13:52down there
13:53with Billy Davis
13:54and Neil Lennon
13:55to contend with all afternoon.
13:57Willie,
13:57we were talking earlier on
13:58about Brendan Rodgers,
13:59a strong message from him
14:00to the board yesterday.
14:02You'll have seen this
14:03many, many times in the past.
14:04You're using the media
14:05to get the message out.
14:06The thing about Brendan Rodgers
14:07is he's in a position
14:08of such power now
14:09at Celtic, isn't he?
14:10Well, he is, yeah.
14:11I mean, the job that he's done
14:12has been superb,
14:13but he deserves to be supportive.
14:16But Celtic have got...
14:17Oh, go on!
14:18Oh, yes!
14:20That brings back the memories.
14:22Stevie Mallon for the Saints.
14:24This time it's St Johnston.
14:26Free kick outside the box.
14:29I thought, go on, Sunshine,
14:30do it again.
14:31What a free kick.
14:33Curled it around the wall,
14:34over the top,
14:35in at the goalkeeper's
14:36top right-hand corner.
14:38Stevie Mallon still has the magic.
14:41St Johnston, five.
14:43Partick Thistle, one.
14:44Trick, this is such a statement
14:46when this afternoon.
14:47Just tell us how impressive
14:48the home side have been.
14:51Magnificent.
14:52I'm glad I tipped them
14:53for the league before it.
14:54I'm even more sure now
14:55they have not just won,
14:57not just rattled in the goals.
14:58The football has been entertaining.
15:01Big crowd inside McDermott Park.
15:03And as we've discussed,
15:06strength and depth to this squad.
15:08The alternatives they have.
15:09Tony touched on it.
15:10I have to say,
15:11Mackenzie Kirk has come on.
15:13He looks like a player.
15:14He's got a wonderful touch
15:15in the ball as well.
15:17Now the substitutions have been made
15:18all over the place for St Johnston.
15:21All around the ground,
15:22the fans are on their feet
15:23saluting this.
15:25I'm telling you,
15:25what a performance.
15:26A hat-trick from Nick Peake.
15:28He went off injured.
15:29One from Gullen.
15:30But Stevie Mallon,
15:31once a hero of mine,
15:33has still got the magic.
15:34A hero of mine?
15:34He's only 29.
15:36Fantastic.
15:37Absolutely fantastic.
15:39Rory,
15:39you were chatting about him
15:40earlier on.
15:40He's a player that you know
15:42and for Saints to have that quality
15:43to come off the bench,
15:45it just shows what he's got
15:46to work with their stream
15:47with Alakari.
15:48His dead balls are a speciality
15:49of his game,
15:50a real high point of his game.
15:53He can whip the ball
15:55into the top bin
15:55no problem at all.
15:57As David Watson tries the same
15:58at Rugby Park,
15:59didn't quite work out.
16:00Yeah,
16:00he's a good player.
16:01He dictates the game.
16:02He can,
16:02you know,
16:02long rake and diagonals
16:04he's good at,
16:05short passes as well.
16:07So he'll be hoping
16:08that this is a move
16:08that will kind of
16:09lift his career off
16:10because he's kind of
16:11floated about from club to club,
16:13picked up injuries
16:13and never really had
16:14a good run at it.
16:15So this gives him a platform
16:16now to go and have
16:17a right go at playing
16:18most of the season.
16:19He's been out 18 months
16:20for a foot injury,
16:21had a foot operation
16:22in the summer there,
16:24Kenny.
16:25And it's really difficult
16:27over in Turkey
16:28and down in Salford
16:29and wasn't as great
16:31as everyone thinks
16:32playing for Salford.
16:33Their training facilities
16:34were not great.
16:35So he hurt his foot
16:36and then that's on back,
16:37thankfully.
16:38Cove Rangers 0,
16:39Queen of the South
16:39to Kennedy
16:41with that goal
16:41on 81 minutes.
16:43Alan,
16:43we've been chatting
16:44all day about the league
16:45and who we think's
16:46going to win it
16:47and who will be struggling
16:47and that battle
16:49for third spot
16:49that's always such
16:50a really interesting debate
16:52and you were speaking
16:53about Derek McInnes,
16:54you wanted to see him
16:55at your club
16:55a long time ago,
16:56you've been at a fans
16:57event recently
16:58and you said he was
16:58very, very impressive there.
17:01He is, yeah,
17:02I've known Derek
17:02a long time
17:03and his work with Tony
17:04was excellent
17:05that the clubs
17:05have been at
17:06and now he's at Hearts
17:08and it's just,
17:09I think Hearts have now
17:10got a proper manager.
17:12There's no slight
17:12on Neil Critchley
17:13but I just didn't think
17:14he held the room well.
17:16I didn't think
17:16that he could have a go
17:18at the players
17:19when need be.
17:20He's a real manager.
17:21That's a good effort
17:22there for Paul Hanlon
17:23for Waythrovers.
17:25No, I just think
17:25it's a really good fit
17:26and I tell people
17:28this and folks
17:29when Derek left Aberdeen
17:31and Tony,
17:32I played golf
17:33for him in Edinburgh
17:34and all he spoke
17:35about was Hearts.
17:35What about the size
17:36of that club?
17:37Something's not right
17:38with Hearts
17:39and Aberdeen
17:40had done a great job
17:41there and we're in Europe
17:42but they're still
17:42getting bigger crowds
17:43than Aberdeen.
17:44What a club it is
17:45how Vano had an interview
17:46and literally all the way
17:47around asking about
17:48the club
17:49and as soon as he got
17:50the job,
17:51I've seen,
17:51I'm not saying this
17:52is a slight against
17:53Colm Marnock
17:53but Derek looked
17:54really excited
17:55about getting the
17:56Hearts job
17:56and speaking to
17:57how I know he is
17:58and the recruitment's
17:59in,
18:00it's going to take
18:00a bit of time
18:01with the Jamestown
18:02analytics
18:02because they're not
18:03always going to
18:03strike gold with them
18:04all but I think
18:05given time
18:06and given what
18:07they've got there
18:08it's exciting times
18:09for Hearts.
18:09You'll have spoken to him
18:10Tony,
18:11of course you've worked
18:11with him for so many years
18:13how's he enjoying it so far
18:14how much is he
18:15relishing the challenge
18:16how far does he think
18:17he can take Hearts?
18:18Yeah,
18:19listen he's loving it
18:20but you know Derek
18:20he won't talk things up
18:21he'll just work away
18:22and the quality of Derek
18:24is,
18:24it's the quality of work
18:25he does every day
18:26him and his staff
18:27and you know
18:28you've got a buy-in
18:29right away from the players
18:30and as Alan said
18:31they're known Derek
18:32he has,
18:32you know that move
18:33he's earned
18:34you know he's absolutely
18:35earned for the work
18:35he did not just
18:36at Aberdeen
18:37but at Colm Marnock
18:38as well and prior to that
18:39and now he's at a club
18:40where he really knows
18:41he can achieve things
18:42he's got the players
18:43to do that
18:43and I've got no doubt
18:45you know where the
18:45backing he's going to get
18:46as well
18:47he's enthused
18:48right we've got a problem
18:50in the line there
18:51with Emma
18:51he's breaking up
18:52with this
18:52and equaliser
18:53just had a quick view
18:54of that in the studio
18:55here
18:55Livingston back
18:56in level terms
18:57Smith the substitute
18:58does really really well
18:59down the right hand side
19:00goes by his full back
19:01like he's not even there
19:02he cuts it back
19:03Pittman does what Pittman does
19:05he arrives late
19:05into the box
19:06Kamarnock 2
19:08Livingston 2
19:08yeah we're getting a replay
19:09here
19:09and I have to say
19:10a decent away support
19:11down there
19:11at rugby bar
19:12we're getting a view
19:12here Tony
19:13it's a great finish
19:14isn't it
19:14it's been coming
19:15the second half
19:15and again Davey Martindale
19:17he's getting rewarded
19:19for that
19:19for the change
19:20that he made
19:20and it's been all
19:21Livingston
19:22you know
19:22they changed
19:24they brought on
19:24Rory McKenzie
19:25tried to compact
19:26the middle of the pitch
19:27and have one striker
19:28up top
19:28but really it's been
19:30Livingston
19:30it's been you know
19:31all Livingston
19:32in the second half
19:33and that's the reward
19:34for their playing
19:34and you know
19:35we've got five minutes left
19:37I think they'll be
19:37pushing now for a winner
19:38yeah they'll fancy it
19:39now Rory
19:40they'll really push
19:41there's maybe a check
19:42there I might have missed
19:42that
19:43but it sounded like that
19:44just apologies
19:45two people tuning in
19:46we had some technical
19:46issues this afternoon
19:47yes check
19:48well all that was
19:50going on there
19:50it was just a fantastic
19:52strike from young
19:54McKenzie Kurt
19:54he just very casually
19:56volleyed it
19:57with the outside
19:58the boot
19:58it was getting into
19:59the corner
20:00and I have to say
20:01Budonakis
20:02in the thistle goal
20:03produced an awesome
20:04save
20:05got a cross
20:05I thought he had no chance
20:07got a finger on it
20:08got it round the post
20:09wonderful bit of play
20:10wonderful goalkeeping
20:11and actually
20:12this has been a wonderful
20:14football match
20:1487 minutes gone
20:16St Johnston
20:175
20:17Paddy Crystal
20:181
20:18and in 2
20:19Elgin City
20:201
20:21the home side
20:22looked up at the winner
20:22in 89 minutes
20:23we've got a goal checked
20:24yeah I think it's because
20:25they feel that one of the
20:26Livingston players
20:27is possibly
20:28restricting the view
20:29of the goalkeeper
20:30Stryak
20:30Tony knows all about that
20:32yeah I think
20:33Zach Rudden
20:33maybe Zach Rudden
20:35was in front
20:36in an offside position
20:37but he certainly wasn't
20:38in the goalkeeper's view
20:39goal's been given
20:39goal given
20:40goal given
20:41yeah and
20:41they'll fancy this now
20:43and for Stuart Ketwell
20:44in every what
20:45five or six minutes
20:46after cruising in the game
20:47absolutely
20:48I mean
20:48the turning point
20:49he just brought
20:50Dominic Thompson on
20:52and he didn't look up to speed
20:53because he's got pace
20:55but Smith absolutely burned him
20:57down that right hand side
20:58he really did
20:58and a really good finish
21:00by an experienced player
21:00in Pittman
21:01yeah Pittman's a decent player
21:03you have to say
21:03that
21:04so very much game on
21:05just to remind
21:05we're on television
21:07around about 25 past 5
21:09the action continues
21:10on the radio
21:11full conference to come
21:12what a game
21:13it should be
21:14at Fir Park
21:15this evening
21:16Motherwell at home
21:17two Rangers
21:18let's just continue
21:19our bounce around the grounds
21:20let's get to that game
21:21where Templars
21:22are maybe flaring a wee bit
21:23on the touchline
21:24down that dugout area
21:25Willie Miller is here
21:26for us
21:26Morton against Dunferman
21:28Dunferman have thrown
21:29a fair bit of money at it
21:30have they been disappointed
21:31this afternoon Willie
21:32no I don't think so
21:33they've been a better team
21:33I think
21:34throughout
21:35certainly even
21:36in the first half
21:37second half
21:38they've dominated
21:39and they've had
21:41the two chances
21:42I mean
21:44Morton have been
21:44very rarely up the pack
21:45in the second half
21:47so it has been a game
21:49second 45
21:50where the visitors
21:51have been
21:52totally in charge
21:53and they've had
21:54a couple of
21:55great efforts
21:56Connor Young
21:57with a
21:57free kick
21:59it was well saved
22:00by Storer
22:01and goals
22:02and then
22:03Josh Cooper
22:03having a
22:04toe poke
22:05inside the box
22:06it was an actual
22:06toe poke
22:07this time
22:07it just fell to him
22:08round about the penalty spot
22:09another good save
22:10as well
22:11so as we get towards
22:13the dying embers
22:14of this game
22:15Morton are up the pack
22:16they've got a chance
22:17they haven't been up the pack
22:18much in the second half
22:19unfortunately
22:20it's still nil-nil
22:21but there's been
22:21quite a bit of action
22:23after that first 20 minutes
22:25it was rather subdued
22:26let's get to the game
22:27between Airdrie and Ross
22:29County
22:29Billy Dodds
22:30is there for us
22:31deep into the
22:32closing stages
22:32here
22:33Billy any strain
22:34of a winner
22:34well it's really
22:36opened up
22:37as you can imagine
22:38with that equalising goal
22:39that both teams
22:39now feel they can win it
22:40I think it'd be a really
22:42good point for Airdrie
22:43Ross County
22:44realise now
22:45it'd be a disappointing
22:45start to the season
22:46going out of the league cup
22:47and drawn today
22:48that they're really
22:49having a go here
22:50and
22:5124's a winner
22:52but Airdrie
22:53so far
22:54can he stand in firm
22:55also Alan Preston
22:56very much
22:57game on
22:58it starts part
22:59it is
22:59yeah we've got a minute
23:00to go
23:00it's 1-1 here
23:01Rover
23:01penalty
23:02penalty each
23:03Queen's in the first half
23:05after 9 minutes
23:06and Wraith Rovers
23:08are the equaliser
23:08with 10 minutes to go
23:10we're almost
23:11into added on time
23:12here
23:12I think it'll be a
23:13drop
23:14couple of points
23:15for Rovers
23:15because I expected them
23:16to win this
23:17but if Queen's can see
23:18this through
23:18it'll be a decent
23:19point from them
23:19but 1-1
23:20with about 3-4 minutes
23:21to go
23:22have added on time
23:23Elgin City have equalised
23:24late on away
23:25Annen Athletic
23:26and the league 1
23:27title favourites
23:28Inverness
23:29Cali Histel
23:303-0
23:31victors away
23:31at Kelty Hart
23:32this afternoon
23:33that's you up to date
23:34with the latest
23:35scores
23:36let's get back
23:37to that game
23:38at McDermott Park
23:39Chick Young's been
23:40raving about it
23:41all afternoon
23:43Simu Valakari
23:44we know the style
23:45of football
23:45who likes to play
23:46Chick
23:46he's put together
23:47a very very strong
23:48squad
23:49and so far
23:50it's been excellent
23:51this afternoon
23:52well you can say
23:54what you want
23:54in the book
23:54you can say
23:55what they want
23:55about the championship
23:56favourites
23:57but for me
23:57if St. Johnston
23:58produce this
23:59week after week
24:00they will win
24:01this promotion
24:03place
24:03because they've
24:04been absolutely
24:05terrific
24:06just to be reminded
24:07they'll lead by
24:07five goals
24:09to one
24:09and McPake
24:10hat trick
24:11after incidentally
24:12Reading
24:12Paddy Reading
24:13had put Thistle
24:14ahead unbelievably
24:15it seems
24:15when you look back
24:16Gulland
24:17Gulland
24:17got one
24:18and then
24:18there was
24:18that wonderful
24:19free kick
24:19from Stevie
24:20Mallon
24:20to wrap it
24:21all up
24:22classic
24:22vintage
24:23Stevie
24:23Mallon
24:24a free kick
24:24curling it
24:25over and
24:26around the
24:26wall
24:27actually
24:27and in
24:28at the
24:29goalkeeper's
24:29top right
24:30hand
24:30corner
24:31and they
24:32have just
24:32dominated it
24:33they've nearly
24:33scored twice
24:34in the wake
24:35of that
24:35I have to say
24:36that Mackenzie
24:37Kirk has come
24:38on
24:38he looks like
24:38a talent
24:39and some of
24:40the football
24:41that St.
24:41Johnson
24:41are currently
24:42playing in front
24:42of the year
24:43it's just
24:43terrific
24:44the movement
24:44of the ball
24:45and a perfect
24:46surface
24:46a joy to
24:47watch
24:48come and watch
24:49St.
24:49Johnson
24:49you will not
24:50be disappointed
24:515-1 at the
24:52moment
24:52I imagine
24:53as ever
24:54a fairly decent
24:55travelling
24:56Thistle support
24:57there
24:57what will they
24:58have made
24:58of the afternoon
24:59have they just
25:00been outclassed
25:01by a very good
25:01side
25:02they'll be a bit
25:04sterling by now
25:05I think
25:05the vast majority
25:09of them have
25:10left
25:11they came up
25:12numbers
25:12after today
25:13there's obviously
25:14still a few
25:14Thistle fans
25:15hanging about
25:15there
25:16but a lot
25:16of them
25:16went down
25:17the road
25:17maybe after
25:18the fourth
25:19goal
25:19they knew
25:20their team
25:21were torn
25:22apart
25:22the great
25:22league cup
25:23campaign
25:23of course
25:24hopes were
25:25high
25:25but they
25:27looked to me
25:27like a team
25:28with problems
25:28there was a
25:29substitution
25:29a while back
25:32actually
25:33of Tony
25:35Watt
25:36and I
25:36actually
25:37hadn't realised
25:37he was on
25:38the park
25:38he's contributed
25:39not very much
25:40this afternoon
25:41I have to say
25:42and it's been
25:42a very
25:43powerful
25:44and convincing
25:45win
25:45we're three
25:46minutes
25:46into time
25:46added on
25:47at the moment
25:48I would imagine
25:49they would have
25:49been about three
25:50so the dying
25:51embers of this
25:51game
25:52very much
25:52so
25:52but what
25:53a triumph
25:54for St
25:55Johnston
25:56have been
25:56magnificent
25:57full time
25:580-0
25:59thanks to
26:00Willie
26:00that was short
26:01and sweet
26:01there
26:01not too
26:02much
26:02to talk
26:02well
26:02he's actually
26:03said
26:03it's been
26:03a decent
26:03game
26:04most of
26:04the action
26:04taking place
26:05down
26:05in the technical
26:06areas
26:07that's full time
26:08though Kenny
26:09St Johnston
26:105
26:11Partick Thistle
26:121
26:12thanks to
26:13Chexu
26:13Morfton 0
26:14Dunfermline 0
26:15in league 2
26:15one of the title
26:16favourites
26:16East Goldbride
26:17losing at home
26:18in the opening
26:18day
26:18by three goals
26:20to one
26:20to Spartans
26:21Peterhead

26:22again
26:224-1
26:23at home
26:24to East 5
26:25we've got our
26:25eyes here
26:26Rory Loy
26:26in the game
26:27down
26:28at Rugby Park
26:29it looks as if
26:30Livia throwing
26:30everything at it
26:31going for the winner
26:31oh my days
26:32I mean
26:33unbelievably
26:34at half time
26:34to say that
26:35Livingston will be
26:35disappointed
26:36they haven't won
26:36this game
26:37is quite incredible
26:38because
26:39Kamarnik
26:39as much as
26:40Livingston
26:40were okay
26:41in the first half
26:41the better side
26:43they scored two goals
26:44and you know
26:45they're doing
26:46everything they can
26:47Livingston to try
26:47and win this game
26:48but
26:48it's a bit of a
26:49familiar story
26:50to last season
26:50Kamarnik
26:51seemed to drop so many
26:52points
26:52with getting men sent off
26:53so it's a bit of a
26:54repeated
26:54story from the
26:56start of this season
26:56full time
26:57with Kirkcaldy
26:581-1
26:58between Wraith Rovers
26:59and Queen's Park
27:00thanks Alan Preston
27:01we'll get more details
27:02from the guys
27:02we'll go around the
27:03grounds
27:03get some full time
27:05reports
27:05we'll also get the
27:06team news
27:07and hear from both
27:07managers ahead of
27:08that top flight game
27:09that kicks off
27:10at Fir Park
27:11at 5.30
27:12we're on the telly
27:13to around about
27:1325 past
27:14but the action
27:15continues on
27:16BBC Radio
27:17Scotland
27:17that should be a
27:18great game there
27:19at Fir Park
27:20this evening
27:21most of the guys
27:22seem to think
27:23that Rangers
27:24will struggle
27:24to stay
27:26on course
27:26with Celtic
27:27this season
27:28as for Mother
27:29we'll discuss them
27:29a bit later
27:30and we'll get the
27:30guys thoughts
27:31on who they think
27:32will struggle
27:33in the top flight
27:34this campaign
27:35certainly earlier
27:36in the programme
27:36there were a couple
27:37of suggestions
27:38of Tony's
27:38former club
27:39Dundee
27:39they of course
27:40were disappointing
27:40in their
27:42League Cup campaign
27:43Tony we'll just
27:43stay with this
27:44game down here
27:45we've got it
27:45coming into the
27:46studio
27:46the game
27:47at Rugby Park
27:48it's incredible
27:49pressure now
27:50from Livy
27:50isn't it
27:51they're totally
27:51dominating
27:52it is and we
27:53said at half
27:53time
27:54Kilmarnock
27:55almost went in
27:563-0 up
27:56and coming out
27:58Livingston have
27:59taken the game
28:00to Kilmarnock
28:00I think
28:01at that stage
28:02he would have
28:03taken a point
28:03if you're
28:04Davy Martindale
28:05but again
28:05as I've said
28:06I think he's
28:06been rewarded
28:07by his tactic
28:07to go more
28:08positive
28:09more direct
28:09and they're now
28:10in a position
28:11where they'll be
28:11really disappointed
28:12to draw the game
28:13of course
28:14the sending-offs
28:15impinged on that
28:16but I do think
28:17even before that
28:18it was
28:18I said in the
28:20commentary
28:20I think
28:20they look
28:21like the team
28:21Livingston
28:22look like the team
28:22that were going
28:22to get the next goal
28:23they have done
28:23and they've motored on
28:25and they really
28:25should be winning
28:26this game
28:26and I think
28:27Stuart Kettlewell
28:27will just be desperate
28:28to get that final whistle
28:29so what do you do
28:30as a manager
28:30the player's made
28:31a really rash decision
28:32he's pulled the shirt
28:34so what happens there
28:35if you are the manager
28:37and your player comes in
28:38and it's a game
28:39changing moment
28:41do you find a player
28:42do you have a word
28:43with him in front of the group
28:44how do you deal
28:44with that as a manager
28:45I think Stanger
28:46being a young player
28:47I think I've said this before
28:48he's made a mistake there
28:49he's done in behind
28:50with a ball in behind him
28:51and it's not his intention
28:53to do that
28:54I think his positioning
28:55was wrong
28:55for the ball going in behind
28:56I think you need to then
28:57show him the mistake
28:59that he's made
29:00go through with him
29:00because he's a young player
29:01and hope that he learns
29:02from that
29:02because he's not deliberately
29:03done that
29:04so I wouldn't berate him
29:05in front of the players
29:06I would make sure
29:06of course
29:08it's been a huge factor
29:09in the game
29:10going the way it's went
29:11but I think as a young player
29:12and just a new signing
29:13you've got him for a season
29:15you need to improve him
29:16you need to develop him
29:17as a player
29:17and I think it's important
29:18that he gets that message
29:19yeah just waiting
29:20on the full time whistle
29:21to go down there
29:22at Rugby Park
29:24Billy Dodds
29:24he's still playing
29:25Airdrie against Ross County
29:26we are
29:27there have been a couple
29:28of close shaves
29:29one for both
29:30teams
29:31Rona Hill
29:32just put a free kick
29:33just inches over the crossbar
29:35and then
29:36McStravick
29:37with a real
29:39McGrathen sorry
29:40with a real chance
29:41at the end
29:41drives in from the left
29:42hits a shot
29:43right across face
29:44to the goal
29:44there was numbers in there
29:45nobody could get it
29:46over the line
29:46and that's it
29:47Kenny
29:48an eventful second half
29:49it's finished
29:50Airdrie to
29:51Ross County
29:52to some comeback
29:53yeah very good comeback
29:54there and a terrific
29:55comeback
29:55we've just seen
29:56the final score
29:57the final pictures
29:58coming through there
29:59from the game down
30:00at Rugby Park
30:01Rory Lloyd
30:01the manager there
30:03David Martin
30:03they're delighted
30:04congratulating his players
30:05as he came off the part
30:07and it sounds ridiculous
30:08as you were saying
30:08perhaps a bit of regret
30:09they didn't get the three points
30:10in that game
30:11yeah quite astounding really
30:13because in the first half
30:14there wasn't much in the game
30:15Kilmarnock took their two chances
30:16and you felt that Kilmarnock
30:17were going to go on
30:18and just kind of see the game out
30:19but Livingston were fantastic
30:21in the second half
30:21they really were
30:22Zach Rudden came on
30:22and replaced Graeme Carey
30:24and they changed their system slightly
30:26Rudden went closer
30:27to the defence of Kilmarnock
30:30and they struggled
30:30they got their ball in behind
30:32they turned them round
30:33and they took their chances
30:34when they came along
30:35and it could have very easily
30:36been 3-2 to Livingston
30:37had they taken
30:38one or more of their chances
30:40as Stuart Kettwell
30:41would be majorly disappointed
30:43I wonder if David Martindale
30:44will maybe say after the game
30:45he maybe got it wrong
30:46in the first half
30:47because in the second half
30:49they were dominant
30:50to say the least
30:51we'll try and bring you
30:52some managerial reaction
30:53from that game
30:54we're on the telly
30:55until 25 past 5
30:57so we'll try and get that
30:58for you on Sports Sound
31:00just again watching
31:01David Martindale
31:02the pitchers coming into the studio
31:03absolutely delighted
31:05with the performance
31:07of his players
31:08this afternoon
31:08quite rightly so
31:09they were up against it
31:10but they got themselves
31:11back into that game
31:12two apiece at finish
31:13and they had many chances
31:14to actually win that game
31:15down there
31:16at Rugby Park
31:18so we'll bring that to you
31:19we'll get the team news
31:20of course for you
31:22from that game
31:22that kicks off
31:23at 5.30
31:24at Fir Park
31:25Motherwell against
31:26Rangers
31:26both managers there
31:27but let's take a wee bounce
31:28around the championship
31:30grounds this afternoon
31:31the game kicked off
31:32of course last night
31:33in the championship
31:34where both won
31:35United won
31:36at Gayfield
31:37a late late equaliser
31:38for the home side
31:39but they thoroughly
31:39deserved that one
31:41let's go to
31:42I think it's fair to say
31:43now Chick Young
31:44undoubtedly
31:45the championship
31:46favourites
31:47the ones that are going to be
31:48pushing all the way
31:50to win the title
31:50St Johnson
31:51very convincing
31:52this afternoon
31:52at home to Partick Thistle
31:54Yeah you can serve this up to me
31:56every Saturday afternoon
31:58Twix now
31:59and at the end of the season
32:00next spring
32:01it's quite a fabulous performance
32:04by St Johnson
32:05against a team
32:06in Partick Thistle
32:07who were getting rave reports
32:09on the League Cup campaign
32:10while they were dismantled
32:11by Red Hot Saints
32:13in the Perthshire Sunshine
32:14this afternoon
32:16Thistle actually scored
32:17first
32:17Paddy Redding
32:18put him ahead
32:19after 15 minutes
32:20but Jimmy Gullen
32:22had made it
32:23one each
32:23just two minutes later
32:25and St Johnson
32:26just went on
32:27from there
32:27there was a hat-trick
32:29for Josh McPake
32:30who was highly regarded
32:32as a young player
32:32as he came
32:33through the ranks
32:34well he's now
32:35into his
32:36mid-twenties
32:37and a fabulous
32:38hat-trick
32:39this afternoon
32:39two before
32:41half-time
32:42made it 3-1
32:43at half-time
32:44and then
32:44one just after the break
32:46to make it
32:474-1
32:47complete this hat-trick
32:48and St Johnson
32:49wrapped it all up
32:51with a quite fabulous
32:52free kick
32:53which curled into
32:55the corner of the goal
32:56from Stevie Mallon
32:57those St Martin fans
32:59who remember him
32:59in black and white strips
33:00with the other
33:01Saints
33:02will recall the times
33:03he used to do that
33:04he did it again
33:05for St Johnston
33:06his new club
33:07this afternoon
33:08and he looks quite
33:09designing
33:09for St Johnston
33:10they were terrific
33:11from back to front
33:12they played sweet football
33:14it wasn't just about
33:15the goals
33:15they were joyous to watch
33:17they took a standing ovation
33:18as young McPake
33:19well not so much
33:20young now
33:21McPake went over
33:22with the match ball
33:23and celebrated
33:24in front of the main
33:25St Johnston support
33:26on the far side
33:27I can't begin to tell you
33:28well I am telling you
33:29how good
33:30St Johnston are
33:31this afternoon
33:32quite terrific
33:33and a thunderous applause
33:35all round then
33:36and a bit of thinking
33:37for Mark Wilson
33:39and Alec Ray
33:40to do
33:40with that
33:41Paddock Thistle team
33:42it finished here
33:43in Perth
33:44St Johnston
33:455
33:46Paddock Thistle
33:461
33:47so a statement win
33:48for Saints
33:48in Perth
33:49this afternoon
33:50let's get to
33:51Capelo
33:51where the home side
33:52were up against
33:53Infermment
33:54this afternoon
33:54let's get the full time
33:55report
33:55from Willie Miller
33:56slight problem
34:00in the line there
34:01with Willie Miller
34:02Morton against Infermment
34:03was goal
34:04as Willie said
34:04it was actually
34:04a decent game
34:05Billy Davis was
34:06in the dugout
34:07there was a personal issue
34:08for Doogie Emery
34:09Billy Davis got booked
34:10Neil Lennon got booked
34:11it was a feisty old affair
34:12but no goals
34:13down there
34:14at Capelo
34:15so let's get to the game
34:16where there were goals
34:18the game between
34:18Airdrie and Ross County
34:20get the full time report
34:20from Billy Dodds
34:22well it looked like
34:23a routine win
34:24for Ross County
34:25when they went
34:26two goals up
34:26but it was a roaring
34:28comeback from the Diamonds
34:29that got them a point
34:31out this game
34:31Ross County
34:33they were efficient
34:34first half
34:35and got their goal
34:36in 20 minutes
34:37from a straight forward
34:38corner kick
34:39it was an in swinger
34:39from Jay Henderson
34:40which was headed
34:41into the net
34:42by Akio Wright
34:43in the front post area
34:44there was a few more
34:46chances in the first half
34:47a couple of a piece
34:47but nothing really
34:48to speak about
34:49into the second half
34:50a couple of minutes
34:52it was
34:53and it was an
34:53identical goal
34:54that Ross County
34:55scored
34:55to put them
34:55two up
34:56only thing is
34:57it was an in swinger
34:58from the left hand side
34:59and it was
35:00Gary Mackay
35:00Stephen
35:01Akio Wright
35:02makes a front post
35:02run
35:03and just
35:03far too easily
35:05from an Airdrie
35:06point of view
35:06when he just
35:07headed it
35:08into the bottom corner
35:09you thought
35:10they were in easy
35:11street
35:11Hale then had a chance
35:12a lovely shot
35:13that was saved
35:13by Melrose
35:15but just on the hour mark
35:16a comeback was on
35:17Airdrie
35:18right back in it
35:19after a lovely goal
35:20I have to say
35:21Dean McMaster
35:22spots
35:23Ewan Henderson
35:24with a brilliant
35:25through ball
35:26puts him right into
35:26the six yard box
35:27at the angle
35:28he just strokes it home
35:29and Airdrie were right
35:30back in it
35:31and then
35:31the new rule
35:32kicked in
35:33Airdrie got a corner
35:34because Ross Laidlaw
35:35took too long
35:36from that corner
35:36they got a free kick
35:37straight away
35:38at the edge of the box
35:39and Ewan Henderson
35:40scored the second goal
35:42of the game
35:42what a goal it was
35:43just bent it
35:44Ross Laidlaw
35:45was just watching it
35:46he was never getting there
35:47and it was level
35:48there was chances
35:49for either side
35:50at the end
35:50but they couldn't
35:51force a winner
35:52both teams went close
35:54as I say
35:54finished here at Airdrie
35:56I never say die
35:57diamonds two
35:58and I rocked
35:58Ross County
35:59thank you to
36:00Billy Dodds
36:01let's get to
36:02Starts Park
36:03Wraith Rovers
36:04at home to
36:04Queen's Park
36:05and get the full time
36:06report from
36:06Alan Preston
36:07where it was a
36:08tale of two penalties
36:08Kenny
36:09Queen's took the lead
36:09in nine minutes
36:10when Woody McGregor
36:11was downed by
36:12Scott Brown
36:12the Rovers captain
36:14in the box
36:14the referee pointed
36:15to the spot
36:15on upstep
36:16Michael Ruth
36:17who sent the keeper
36:17the wrong way
36:19the equaliser
36:19came in 80 minutes
36:21when a ball
36:21with a back post
36:22headed back by
36:23Fordyce
36:23the ball seemed
36:24to hit the hand
36:25of Fox
36:25who was booked
36:26for his protest
36:27the referee again
36:28pointed to the spot
36:29and Dylan Easton
36:29put the keeper
36:30the wrong way
36:31for an equaliser
36:32Rovers didn't put
36:32Queen's keeper
36:33under enough pressure
36:34and Queen's
36:36certainly deserve
36:36their point
36:37final score
36:37it starts
36:38Wraith Rovers
36:39Wraith Rovers
36:39won
36:39Queen's Park
36:40won
36:40thanks to Alan Preston
36:42let's return
36:42to Willie Miller
36:43he is at Capelo
36:44for us
36:45Morton against
36:46Inferm
36:46let's get the
36:46full turn
36:47report
36:47yeah Kenny
36:48a disappointing
36:49game in terms
36:50of the scoreline
36:51it finished
36:520-0
36:52here at Capelo
36:53after the first
36:5420 minutes
36:55the game
36:55did actually
36:56improve
36:57and it became
36:58an enjoyable
36:58watch
36:59to be perfectly
36:59honest
36:59I felt
37:00the visitors
37:01were the better
37:02side
37:02they created
37:03the better
37:03opportunities
37:04Morton had
37:06one or two
37:07chances
37:07Michael Halloran
37:08saw one
37:09just fly by
37:10the far post
37:11Kerr Robertson
37:12had a shot
37:13well saved
37:13Cian Taylor
37:14had a header
37:15that just
37:15slipped by
37:16the post
37:17as well
37:18but it was
37:19in fact
37:19Inferm
37:20that he created
37:21the better
37:21opportunities
37:22Connor Young
37:22had a brilliant
37:23left foot curler
37:24coming in
37:25from the right
37:25hand side
37:26well saved
37:27Josh Cooper
37:27should have done
37:29much better
37:29when he was put
37:30through
37:30just the goalkeeper
37:31to beat
37:31Andy Todd
37:32had a speculative
37:33strike
37:33right foot
37:34from the left
37:35hand side
37:35really well
37:36saved
37:37as well
37:37and then
37:37in the second
37:38half
37:38Connor Young
37:40had the
37:40free kick
37:41the knuckleball
37:42free kick
37:43that again
37:43was well
37:44saved
37:44and Josh
37:45Cooper
37:45was looking
37:46for the top
37:47right hand
37:47corner
37:48when
37:48James Storer
37:50pulled out
37:51another good
37:52save
37:52and basically
37:53the second
37:54half was
37:54dominated
37:54by the
37:55visitors
37:55so I think
37:56Neil Lennon
37:57will be
37:57disappointed
37:58that he
37:59didn't take
37:59all three
38:00points
38:00it turned out
38:01to be a
38:02reasonably
38:02entertaining
38:03game
38:03but unfortunately
38:04for the fans
38:04no goals
38:05thank you
38:06to Will
38:06I'll run
38:07through the
38:07classified scores
38:08for you
38:09in the next
38:09couple of
38:10minutes
38:10we'll get
38:10team news
38:10as well
38:11from that
38:115.30
38:12start
38:12at
38:12Fair Park
38:13but one
38:13top flight
38:14game kicked
38:14off at
38:15three o'clock
38:16this afternoon
38:17it was quite
38:17the game
38:18actually
38:18come on
38:19I got home
38:19to Livingston
38:20let's get the
38:20full-time report
38:21from Emma Black
38:22yeah
38:23it certainly
38:24it was
38:24the game
38:24I had
38:25everything
38:25you could
38:25say
38:26they were
38:28cruising it
38:28going in
38:292-0
38:29at half
38:30time
38:30first half
38:31Livingston
38:32had a few
38:32half chances
38:33they didn't
38:34quite trouble
38:35the goalkeeper
38:35it was
38:35Finlandston
38:37had a
38:37right-footed
38:38shot from
38:39outside the
38:39box
38:39it was
38:40saved
38:40comfortably
38:40down at
38:41the left
38:42hand side
38:42you know
38:43it was just
38:43half chances
38:44wasn't much
38:44Livingston
38:45weren't putting
38:46any pressure
38:46on them
38:47at all
38:47and then
38:48there came
38:49the talking
38:49point
38:50where VAR
38:50was involved
38:51in the 38th
38:52minute
38:53where Daniels
38:54was put through
38:55by a perfectly
38:56weighted pass
38:57from Pullworth
38:57in the middle
38:58of the park
38:58and he smashes
38:59it into the
39:00back of a net
39:00there was then
39:01the slight delay
39:02of course we had
39:03to go to VAR
39:04and then it was
39:04awarded to
39:05Kilmarnock
39:051-0
39:06and then
39:07it wasn't
39:07shortly long
39:08after that
39:08David Watson
39:09got on the
39:10score sheet
39:10it was
39:11Brandon
39:11down that
39:12right-hand
39:12side
39:13which he's
39:13proven
39:14during the
39:15League Cup
39:15games
39:16he's
39:16assistant
39:17perfectly
39:18well
39:18down
39:18that
39:18right-hand
39:19side
39:19he puts
39:19a cross
39:19into the
39:20box
39:20and the
39:21goalkeeper
39:22Pryor
39:23has had
39:23a howler
39:23he palms
39:24it right
39:24outside
39:25right around
39:26the penalty
39:26spot
39:27and Watson
39:27will not
39:28score an
39:28easier goal
39:29and just
39:29taps it
39:29into the
39:30back
39:30of the net
39:30Kilmarnock
39:31went in
39:312-0
39:32up
39:33at halftime
39:33and then
39:35Livingston
39:35came out
39:35in the
39:36second half
39:36a totally
39:37different team
39:37they were
39:38dominant
39:38they were
39:38direct
39:39they made
39:40a halftime
39:41change
39:41where they
39:42brought on
39:42Rudin
39:43took off
39:43Kerry
39:44and Rudin
39:44then went
39:47alongside
39:48the striker
39:49in the
39:49middle of
39:49the park
39:50and Livingston
39:51were just
39:51trying to
39:52dominate
39:52get themselves
39:53back in
39:53the game
39:53and then
39:54they came
39:54big talking
39:55point
39:55again
39:56Varble
39:57was involved
39:57on the
39:5865th minute
40:00Stanger
40:01pulling back
40:02Moorhead
40:03inside the
40:04box
40:04had no
40:04intention
40:05of getting
40:05the ball
40:05the penalty
40:07wasn't awarded
40:07immediately
40:08goes to Var
40:09Var awards
40:10the penalty
40:10and Moorhead
40:11steps up
40:11and slots it
40:12down the
40:12back of the
40:13net
40:13perfectly
40:15comfortable
40:15finish
40:16and then
40:16from there
40:16on
40:17Livingston
40:17got themselves
40:18back in
40:18the game
40:18and it was
40:19only a matter
40:19of time
40:20when they
40:20were going
40:20to get
40:20the
40:20equaliser
40:21and then
40:22that
40:22certainly
40:22came
40:22they were
40:24pushing
40:24and pushing
40:24they brought
40:25on Stevie
40:25May
40:26trying to
40:26obviously
40:26get on
40:27that
40:28score sheet
40:28pull the
40:28second one
40:29back
40:29but it was
40:30Pittman
40:30it was
40:31down the
40:32right hand
40:32side
40:32it was
40:33Smith
40:33goes past
40:35Thompson
40:35Thompson
40:36just come on
40:36for Kilmarnock
40:37at the left
40:37hand side
40:38in the 86th
40:39minute
40:39puts in a
40:40great ball
40:40and Pittman
40:41just smashes
40:41it into the
40:42back of the
40:42net
40:42and that was
40:43the 86th
40:47winner
40:47to take
40:48the three
40:48points
40:49home
40:49but unfortunately
40:49they didn't
40:50but yeah
40:50that's a game
40:51it had everything
40:51it was
40:52Kilmarnock
40:53two
40:53Livingston
40:53two
40:54thanks
40:54Emma
40:54Black
40:54it was a
40:55really good
40:55game
40:55before we get
40:56the classified
40:56scores
40:57what do you
40:58think the
40:58season's likely
40:59to hold
40:59for both
41:00these clubs
41:01I think for
41:02Livingston
41:02I've already
41:03spoken about it
41:04they'll be my
41:04surprise package
41:05I think you
41:05could see
41:06today once
41:06they got
41:07and sometimes
41:08Tony might
41:09tell you
41:09it does take
41:10a few games
41:11to just
41:11figure out
41:12a few of the
41:12final details
41:13and just get
41:13yourself into the
41:14flow of it
41:14I think they
41:17may concede
41:17goals at the
41:18back at times
41:18away from home
41:19as we've seen
41:20today but I
41:21genuinely believe
41:22from what I've
41:22seen today
41:23the signings
41:24they've made
41:25and their
41:26League Cup
41:26campaign
41:27I think
41:27they may
41:30be comfortable
41:31in terms of
41:32not looking over
41:32their shoulders
41:33for relegation
41:34I think top
41:34six will be
41:34too much of a
41:35stretch but
41:35first season
41:36back in the
41:36league I think
41:37they'll be
41:37absolutely fine
41:38Kilmarnock
41:39it depends on
41:39what their
41:40expectations are
41:41if they're
41:41expecting to
41:41push for the
41:42top six I
41:42think they're
41:43going to be
41:43disappointed
41:43I really do
41:44I think
41:46Kilmarnock
41:47in terms of
41:47their ambition
41:48first and
41:48foremost
41:49accumulate the
41:49points to
41:50stay in the
41:50league
41:50it's a bit
41:51of a boring
41:51answer but
41:51I believe
41:52that's the
41:52case then
41:53reassess and
41:53see how
41:54close they
41:54can get to
41:54the top
41:55six but
41:55I don't
41:56see them
41:57getting in
41:57the top
41:57six maybe
41:58best of
41:58the rest
41:58would be
41:59the best
42:00outcome
42:00for Kilmarnock
42:01Davy Martindale
42:02was praised
42:03for his
42:03recruitment
42:03last season
42:04they were
42:05terrific in
42:05the championship
42:06just seeing
42:06the pictures
42:07coming in
42:07here you look
42:08at McGowan
42:09you look at
42:09Wilson
42:09these are two
42:10guys that can
42:11easily play
42:12in the top
42:12they're
42:13premiership
42:13defenders
42:14he's got a
42:15very solid
42:15looking squad
42:16yeah I think
42:17he has and
42:17it's one of
42:18the games
42:18today I think
42:19it's a strange
42:20one that both
42:21managers will
42:22probably be happy
42:23because I think
42:23going in at
42:24half time
42:24Davy Martindale
42:26would certainly
42:26have taken a
42:27point and then
42:28the way the
42:29game ends
42:30Stuart Kettlewell
42:31is pleased to
42:31take a point
42:32with the flow
42:32of the game
42:32in the second
42:33half but
42:33yeah I think
42:34he's seen that
42:35I think again
42:35he's seen the
42:36depth of the
42:36squad
42:37Davy Martindale
42:38got it right
42:38at half time
42:39and he's
42:39probably looking
42:40at his first
42:40half and maybe
42:41thinking you
42:42know maybe
42:42he didn't get
42:44it right in
42:44terms of the
42:45style of play
42:45that he did
42:46but certainly
42:46and that's the
42:47thing about
42:47coaching you
42:48know he's
42:48made a good
42:49decision there
42:49you know we
42:50thought at
42:50half time we
42:51were talking
42:51we thought he
42:52might have
42:52changed the
42:53wide players
42:53and allowed
42:54the full backs
42:55to advance a
42:55wee bit more
42:56but you know
42:56he brought on
42:57Zach Rudden
42:57played him
42:57closer to a
42:58striker
42:58it allowed
42:59Adam Montgomery
42:59to become more
43:01influential in the
43:01game and he's
43:02a good attacking
43:02full back and
43:03I think that had
43:04a huge I said
43:05at half time
43:06the most influential
43:06players in the
43:08game were
43:08commander players in
43:09the second half
43:10they were
43:10Livingston players
43:10and that was
43:11even prior to
43:12this ending off
43:12so I think a
43:13draw is probably
43:14fair and I think
43:15both managers
43:16reflecting on that
43:16honestly will agree
43:17with that and both
43:18will be relatively
43:19satisfied with that
43:20it might just be
43:21time to bring you
43:22some managerial
43:22reaction from that
43:23game let's run
43:24through the
43:25classified score
43:27lines for you
43:28in the opening

45:50games last season
45:51that's not going
45:51to cut it
45:52this time around
45:53if they genuinely
45:54want to push Celtic
45:55for the title
45:56Motherwell have only
45:57won their opening
45:58league game once
45:59in the last
46:00nine seasons
46:01as they look to
46:02beat Rangers
46:03here at Fair Park
46:04in the league
46:05for the first time
46:06since Boxing Day
46:072002
46:08my goodness
46:08that statistic's
46:09been living
46:11with them
46:11for so long
46:12now
46:12it's the same
46:13team that Jens-Bertel
46:14Ascu puts out
46:16for Motherwell
46:16from the one
46:17that beat
46:17Morton
46:18in their last
46:19league game
46:19and also started
46:20a friendly
46:20against Hertha
46:21Berlin
46:21last week
46:23so the goalkeeper
46:24Callum Ward
46:25keeps his place
46:26though Oxford
46:27is back
46:27amongst the subs
46:28back four of
46:29Katrumbus
46:30Longelow
46:30Gordon
46:31and McGinn
46:32who plays
46:33in the league
46:33for the first
46:34time since

46:40up front
46:41and it's his
46:42first league
46:43appearance
46:43since he scored
46:45against Rangers
46:46here
46:46in a draw
46:47in December
46:49so it's the
46:49Motherwell
46:49starting 11
46:50Oxford
46:51O'Donnell
46:51Bammer
46:52Sparrow

46:55Saeed
46:55make up
46:56the bench
46:56for Rangers
46:57one alteration
46:58from the team
46:59that started
47:00both legs
47:00against the Greeks
47:01in those
47:02qualifying games
47:03and it's no
47:05surprise that
47:05JD Kusama
47:06gets his
47:07first start
47:07he has
47:09been
47:09producing
47:10a couple
47:11of incredible
47:11cameos
47:12as he waited
47:13patiently
47:14to get
47:14into the
47:15starting
47:1511
47:15but he's
47:16in today
47:16as he
47:18comes in
47:19for the
47:19youngster

47:40here
47:41looking forward
47:41to thanks
47:42to Liam
47:42McLeod
47:42we'll get
47:43the thoughts
47:43of both
47:44our pundits
47:44in a couple
47:45of minutes
47:45time
47:45first up
47:46let's hear
47:46from the
47:46motherwell
47:47manager
47:47Jens Bertel
47:48Ascu
47:48he's been
47:49chatting
47:49with our
47:50reporter
47:50Martin
47:51Dowden
47:52Jens
47:52a big day
47:53for you
47:53a big day
47:54for the
47:54club
47:54and the
47:54squad
47:55how ready
47:56do you feel
47:56now to take
47:57on the
47:57challenge
47:57you'll face
47:58out there
47:58we are
47:59100% ready
48:00and we know
48:02no matter how
48:03ready we are
48:03or not
48:04we know it's a
48:06big game
48:06and a big
48:07challenge for us
48:07to face
48:08Rangers this
48:09early in the
48:10competition
48:10but we have
48:12prepared well
48:13and with the
48:14guys we have
48:15available now
48:16and they are
48:17very very keen
48:18and excited to
48:19play against
48:19Rangers today
48:20I think when
48:21teams come up
48:22against the
48:23likes of Rangers
48:24or a Celtic
48:24people expect
48:26you that the
48:27club will maybe
48:27adapt a little
48:28bit in terms
48:28of the way
48:28you play
48:29I'm suspecting
48:30you won't do
48:31that today
48:31is that right
48:32what is adapting
48:34I think you need
48:35to play all
48:35phases in the
48:36game
48:36and we will
48:38try and do
48:39it our way
48:40no matter who's
48:41visiting us
48:42here
48:42we know the
48:44game picture
48:45is going to be
48:45different from
48:46playing
48:46Stenhouse-Mur
48:48when you play
48:50Glasgow Rangers
48:50as Motherwell
48:51and we'll have
48:52to deal with
48:53that but when
48:53we get hold
48:55of the ball
48:55I expect us
48:57to be equally
48:57brave as we've
48:58been throughout
48:58the whole pre-season
48:59and then I
49:01also expect it
49:02to be a little
49:03bit more difficult
49:03to break through
49:04and to create
49:06problems for
49:07Rangers but I
49:09do expect us
49:09to do it at
49:10times
49:10Jens Bertel
49:12ask you there
49:13good evening to
49:13you Stephen
49:14Cregan what are
49:15you expecting
49:15from your former
49:16club this season
49:17a very tough
49:18start for them
49:19tonight
49:19Kenny if I'm
49:20honest I don't
49:21really know
49:22because I've
49:23watched them
49:23three times in
49:24the Premier
49:24Sports Cup
49:25which the
49:25manager spoke
49:26about and
49:27they've dominated
49:27the ball
49:28they've had
49:28lovely little
49:29patterns out
49:29from the
49:29back at
49:30times it's
49:30been unopposed
49:31when they
49:32have given
49:32the ball
49:32away in
49:33dangerous areas
49:34they've got
49:35it back
49:35very quickly
49:36so today
49:37is going to
49:37be a real
49:38learning curve
49:38and I think
49:39a reserve
49:39judgment for
49:39four or five
49:40games to
49:41see what
49:41it's like
49:41when they're
49:42playing against
49:42Premiership
49:43opposition
49:43the big
49:44ball comes
49:44out today
49:45this is the
49:46kind of
49:47crux of it
49:48you can plan
49:49for pre-season
49:49you can have
49:50an idea in
49:51your head
49:51of how you
49:52want to play
49:52and what you
49:52want to do
49:53I think the
49:54players will have
49:54to adapt
49:55today
49:55they may not
49:55have as much
49:56position as they
49:59even in the
50:00Premier Sports
50:01Cups game
50:01when the ball
50:02turned over
50:02in transition
50:03they were
50:04outnumbered
50:04they were
50:04getting
50:05counter-attacked
50:06on and they
50:07managed to get
50:07back and recover
50:08the ball
50:08today they
50:09won't have
50:09that luxury
50:10I don't think
50:11against better
50:11players so
50:12if they can
50:13adapt their
50:13game the
50:14manager has
50:15to allow
50:15them to think
50:15for themselves
50:16sometimes you
50:16can't always
50:17want to play
50:17short passes
50:18you can't
50:18always want
50:18to play
50:18across your
50:19box so
50:20we'll get a
50:20better gauge
50:21today of
50:21where they
50:21are
50:22what it
50:22will says
50:23they will
50:23be brave
50:23they will
50:24take risks
50:24it's high
50:25risk football
50:25I think
50:29right let's
50:34now hear the
50:35thoughts of
50:36the Rangers
50:36manager Russell
50:37Martin he's
50:37also been
50:38chatting with
50:38Martin Dowden
50:39Russell how
50:40excited are you
50:41in the squad
50:41just to get
50:42this league
50:42campaign underway
50:43and see how
50:44far you've
50:45come in the
50:45short time
50:45you've had
50:46yeah I'm
50:46looking forward
50:47to it I
50:47think it'll
50:48give us a
50:48good barometer
50:49of where
50:49we're at
50:49and we need
50:51to show our
50:52intent of the
50:52team we want
50:53to be all
50:53season so it's
50:54important for
50:55us to put in
50:57a performance we
50:57like today and
50:58a performance to
50:58win the game
50:59and also to
51:00see where we
51:00are and need
51:00to keep
51:01improving
51:01because this
51:03game maybe looks
51:04a bit different
51:04to the European
51:04games we've
51:05had already and
51:05they've been
51:05two massive
51:06occasions for
51:06us and we
51:07need to step
51:08up and deal
51:08with this one
51:09in the same
51:09way but with
51:10a performance
51:11that feels
51:13even better
51:14than those
51:14given the
51:16demands you're
51:16facing right
51:17now I think
51:17people maybe
51:17wondered would
51:18you tinker
51:18change the
51:19starting 11
51:20why have you
51:21decided to
51:21only make the
51:22one change
51:22and of course
51:23that change
51:23if someone
51:24has made a
51:24good impact
51:24so I think
51:25we've had a
51:25really short
51:27pre-season
51:28before two
51:28big games
51:29and within
51:31that we
51:32haven't been
51:32able to fit
51:33enough games
51:33in to give
51:33everyone lots
51:34and lots of
51:34minutes so it
51:35comes down to
51:35consistency on
51:36the pitch and
51:36the guys that
51:37play the most
51:37minutes and
51:38are more used
51:38to what we
51:39are trying to
51:40do whilst
51:41trying to catch
51:42the others up
51:42and speed up
51:43and speed up
51:43their process
51:43in training
51:44and all that
51:44but it's
51:45very different
51:45to playing
51:45the game
51:45so we've
51:46gone with
51:46the guys
51:46that have
51:47lived it on
51:48the pitch
51:48already
51:48can hopefully
51:49learn a lot
51:51from midweek
51:52and improve
51:52on today's
51:53stuff and
51:53also they've
51:54built relationships
51:54and we have
51:56a few good
51:56options off the
51:57bench so we've
51:58decided to go
51:59with that and
52:00hopefully it'll
52:00be the right
52:00decision
52:01Russell Martin
52:02there good
52:03evening to you
52:03Derek Ferguson
52:04very early days
52:06I know have
52:06you been impressed
52:07with what you've
52:08seen so far
52:08from the Rangers
52:09manager
52:09yeah he speaks
52:12very well
52:13got to say
52:13that he's very
52:14positive in his
52:16approach
52:16but he's coming
52:18here tonight
52:18to a Motherwell
52:20side that I've
52:21had a decent
52:21pre-season
52:22it was interesting
52:23listening to Stephen
52:23saying there it
52:24might be
52:25the game might
52:27ride on who
52:28makes the least
52:28mistakes
52:29that tells you
52:29everything about
52:30the way Rangers
52:31want to play
52:32at times it's
52:33high risk
52:33I've not saw
52:34Motherwell
52:35this season
52:35so it's been
52:36interesting to see
52:36if that's the
52:37same way they
52:39go about their
52:39business
52:40but yeah he's
52:41got a style
52:41of football
52:42he's not going
52:43to deviate away
52:43from that
52:44just for me
52:45when you come
52:46to places
52:46in bigger games
52:48it's about
52:49decision making
52:49you know yeah
52:50you've got a
52:50way of playing
52:51but when you're
52:52in possession
52:53of that ball
52:53if it's not
52:54on you don't
52:54play it
52:55but Rangers
52:55seem to take
52:56risks
52:56so they're
52:57coming here
52:57you've not got
52:59a better
52:59opportunity
53:00to get the
53:00ball down
53:01in the deck
53:01and play
53:01it's a beautiful
53:02day as we
53:03know
53:03here in South
53:04Lanarkshire
53:05the pitch
53:05as always is
53:06immaculate
53:06so it's made
53:08for a great
53:09game
53:09but I think
53:11there's going to
53:11be a few
53:11heart-in-the-mouth
53:13moments throughout
53:15this game
53:15I think that's
53:17definitely a
53:17given
53:17yeah looking
53:19forward to
53:19thanks to the
53:19guys
53:20full commentary
53:21to come
53:21on BBC
53:22Radio Scotland
53:22the pitchers
53:23coming into the
53:24studio here
53:24as Derek said
53:25the park
53:26looks absolutely
53:27immaculate there
53:28in Motherwell
53:30so full commentary
53:31to come
53:31Rory Loy
53:32what are you
53:33expecting from
53:34Motherwell this
53:35season
53:36as Stephen
53:36was saying
53:36a new manager
53:37in
53:37he's brought
53:38in a few
53:38new players
53:39we understand
53:40he plays a
53:41very open
53:41attractive style
53:42of football
53:42yeah I mean
53:44I'm expecting
53:44exactly that
53:45at least an
53:46attempt to try
53:47that
53:47it just becomes
53:48difficult when
53:49you go
53:49inevitably clubs
53:50like Motherwell
53:51will go through
53:51a sticky period
53:52in the season
53:53so I don't
53:54always agree
53:55with people
53:55saying well
53:56it's your
53:56philosophy
53:56you've got to
53:57stick to it
53:57you've got to
53:57believe in it
53:58sometimes you
53:58need to be able
53:59to adapt
54:00and to try
54:00and pick up
54:01a result
54:02regain a bit
54:02of confidence
54:03and then you
54:03can maybe go
54:04back to
54:04playing the way
54:06you were playing
54:06previously
54:06so look
54:08the keeper's
54:08meant to come out
54:09as Tony said
54:09previously
54:10and play
54:10almost as a
54:11no as a
54:12sweeper
54:12but as a
54:12third centre
54:13back
54:13so it'll be
54:14interesting to
54:14see
54:15I've heard
54:15he was as
54:15high up
54:16as you know
54:16the arc
54:18of the
54:18semi-circle
54:18at the
54:19halfway line
54:19in some of
54:20the pre-season
54:20games
54:21so you know
54:22doing that
54:22against
54:23Premiership
54:24opposition
54:25has got far
54:25more risk
54:26to it
54:26so I agree
54:27with Steve
54:28and to try
54:29and predict
54:29exactly what
54:30you're going
54:30to get
54:31and what
54:31your teams
54:31are going
54:31to finish
54:32it's tough
54:32but I know
54:33it's part
54:34of the job
54:34so what I
54:36would say
54:36is I think
54:38Motherwell
54:39will need to
54:39be careful
54:40if they are
54:40going to
54:40play that
54:41expansive
54:41but at the
54:41same time
54:42if they are
54:42going to
54:42put pressure
54:43high up the
54:43pitch
54:43teething issues
54:45at Rangers
54:45as well
54:45they may
54:46get opportunities
54:46themselves
54:47so fingers
54:47crossed we
54:48get some
54:48goals
54:48in a minute
54:49or two
54:49I'll ask
54:49you who
54:49you fear
54:50for this
54:51season
54:51who may
54:51have a
54:51long old
54:52season
54:52a bit
54:52of a struggle
54:53before that
54:54let's get
54:54some reaction
54:54from that
54:55three o'clock
54:55kick-off
54:56in the top
54:57fight this
54:57afternoon
54:58at finish
54:58Kilmarnock
54:59to Livingston
54:59to let's hear
55:00from Kelly's
55:01Brad Lyons
55:01he's been
55:01speaking with
55:02Andy Bork
55:02Brad you had
55:05that game
55:05in your
55:07grasp
55:07where did
55:08it get
55:08away from
55:08you?
55:09Yeah
55:102-0 up at
55:11half time
55:12we're comfortable
55:13in the game
55:13we're not saying
55:14we're playing our
55:14best stuff for the
55:15first half
55:16but we were in
55:18a comfortable
55:18position but
55:19unfortunately the
55:20red card changes
55:21the game
55:21we lose our way
55:22a wee bit
55:23and then they
55:24just catch us
55:25on the counter
55:25attack with the
55:27second goal
55:27but obviously
55:28we're really
55:29frustrated to lose
55:30a 2-0 lead
55:31What was your
55:32reading of the
55:33red card?
55:34Did you feel
55:35that was justified?
55:36I think at the
55:37time I don't know
55:38you're always
55:38going to complain
55:39but watching it
55:41back I think
55:41George or
55:42Muirhead just
55:43gets the wrong
55:44side of George
55:44and it's just
55:45one of them
55:45wee tugbacks
55:46it's a split
55:47second decision
55:48so yeah
55:49it's unfortunate
55:50that it has
55:50been given a
55:51pen and a
55:52red card
55:52but we're not
55:54complaining about
55:54it we have to
55:55look at ourselves
55:56and break the
55:57game down
55:58and see what
55:59we could have
55:59done better
55:59to see the
56:00game out
56:00Brad Lyons
56:01it was a
56:02clear red
56:03and a clear
56:04penalty
56:04Rory who do
56:05you fear for
56:07this season?
56:08I had a discussion
56:08earlier on in the
56:09programme
56:09there seems to be
56:10a lot of concern
56:11around Dundee
56:11for this coming
56:12campaign
56:12yeah and it
56:13maybe is the
56:14easy answer
56:14because of
56:15how much
56:16they've struggled
56:16in their
56:17league cup
56:17campaign
56:18but I think
56:19there's more
56:19layers to it
56:20than that
56:20I think when
56:21you look at
56:21the players
56:22they've lost
56:22you know
56:24Lyle Cameron
56:25very influential
56:26figure in
56:26terms of
56:27the midfield
56:27Mo Silla
56:29who we've
56:29already touched
56:30on Scott
56:30Tiffany
56:30Jordan
56:31McGee
56:31and Antonio
56:33Portales
56:33you can run
56:34through a whole
56:35list of them
56:35so forget
56:36about the
56:36league cup
56:37campaign
56:37that adds
56:38to the
56:38difficulties
56:39and Tony
56:40mentioned a
56:41word earlier
56:41continuity
56:42it's extremely
56:43difficult for
56:43Stephen Bresley
56:44to come in
56:45I don't know
56:47if he was
56:48expecting to get
56:49the job
56:49but it seems
56:50to
56:51I don't think
56:52he was
56:52there would
56:54have been
56:54no pre-planning
56:55in terms of
56:55who he was
56:56going to
56:56bring in
56:56if that's
56:57came out
56:57of the blue
56:57there would
56:58have been
56:58no sitting
56:59down
56:59discussing
56:59who we're
57:00going to
57:00bring in
57:01for next
57:01season
57:01no continuity
57:03there
57:03it would
57:04literally be
57:04a sit
57:05down
57:05and not
57:06panic
57:06but at
57:06the same
57:07time
57:07you need
57:07to act
57:08fast
57:08that doesn't
57:09always make
57:10for success
57:11so Dundee
57:12I think
57:12are going to
57:13struggle in
57:13the first
57:14part of the
57:14season
57:14whether they
57:16can produce
57:17enough to
57:17be competitive
57:19in the league
57:19we'll wait
57:19and see
57:20very conscious
57:22that it is
57:22Steven Presley's
57:23gig at
57:23Dundee
57:24we wish him
57:25the best
57:26but I think
57:26it's a
57:27difficult
57:27situation
57:27very different
57:28start to the
57:29season for you
57:29Tony
57:30Rockerty
57:30you're used
57:31to being
57:31in the
57:31dugout
57:32a strange
57:33feeling for
57:33you today
57:33have you
57:34enjoyed being
57:34part of
57:35the sports
57:35round team
57:35yeah very much
57:36it's great
57:37it probably
57:38is as I say
57:39it's only twice
57:40in the last
57:4023 years
57:42that I've not
57:42been involved
57:43with him
57:43in the first
57:43day of the
57:43season
57:43so it is
57:44strange
57:44but it's
57:45great
57:45when you see
57:46the pictures
57:46coming in
57:47you see that
57:47picture
57:47it really
57:49does whet
57:49your appetite
57:50and listen
57:51that's me
57:51the book's
57:54closed on
57:54what was
57:55done previously
57:55and it's now
57:56looking forward
57:56to see if you
57:57can get yourself
57:58involved
57:58more in that
58:00opportunity that's
58:01there today
58:01and I thoroughly
58:02enjoyed it
58:02it was a good
58:02game today
58:03I really enjoyed
58:04that game
58:04there are two
58:05teams going at
58:06it I think
58:06two managers
58:06who will be
58:07relatively happy
58:08with the spoils
58:08from today
58:09but yeah
58:10it's been an
58:10enjoyable day
58:11with you guys
58:11and I'm
58:12looking forward
58:12to a really
58:13competitive season
58:14this season
58:14Scottish football
58:15always delivers
58:17there's always
58:17plenty of drama
58:18always a story
58:19and it's been
58:20a good opening
58:21weekend so far
58:22it's been another
58:23really busy day
58:24across the league
58:25just the one game
58:25kicked off
58:26in the top flight
58:26of course
58:27at three o'clock
58:28but as the guys
58:28were saying
58:28we had some
58:29reaction there
58:29from Brad Lyons
58:30a really good game
58:31down at Rugby Park
58:33it finished
58:33Kilmarnock
58:34to Livingston
58:35to the conversation
58:36continues
