00:00NASA and Roscosmos have worked together for many years.

00:04How important is the relationship between the two organizations?

00:08Historically, it's always been a very important relationship.

00:12If you look back in time, space has really been an area for collaboration,

00:17whatever's been happening on planet Earth.

00:20Yes, we had the space race back in the Kennedy days,

00:23where the Americans were trying to get to the moon first

00:26and famously did it ahead of the Russians,

00:30even though the Russians were ahead in the space race game,

00:34if you look back in the 1960s.

00:36But since then, it has been more a question about collaboration,

00:41irrespective of Earth politics,

00:43hence why we have the International Space Station,

00:46where, for instance, the Russians are supplying the thrusters to the ISS.

00:49The Canadians have a big arm on there,

00:52and everybody is sort of contributing,

00:53whether it's the Europeans via ESA or NASA.

00:56with the Americans or the Japanese, in fact.

00:59It has truly been an international collaboration.

01:03But things started to change a bit after the Ukrainian invasion,

01:09where it seems like Earth politics were starting to hit space,

01:16and we saw the Russians growing increasingly independent,

01:19and the Americans doing that way.

01:22So today is actually a quite interesting coming back together moment in space

01:27at a very interesting time on Earth politics,

01:31because as we see,

01:33Trump is getting increasingly frustrated with Putin and Russia

01:38for their continued actions in Ukraine.

01:41and yet here we have, in space,

01:44it seems like we can still collaborate,

01:47and we have the meeting of the two heads.

01:49So it's quite significant, actually, in political terms,

01:52and certainly also in space terms.

01:53So, let's do a bit of change.

01:54But we'll have an interesting time on the Chinese side to the Americanали

02:02in the space of Europe.

02:03So let's do a bit of the戦場 to actually do that as well.
