00:00Mr. President, Wall Street analysts have coined a new term called the taco trade.
00:03They're saying Trump always chickens out on your tariff threats and that's why markets are higher this week.
00:08What's your response to that?
00:10I kick out.
00:11Oh, isn't that a chicken out? I've never heard that.
00:14Ever heard of taco? Not the Mexican go-to snack.
00:17It's a funny way people say Trump always chickens out.
00:21It's about U.S. President Trump and his big talks on extra taxes called tariffs.
00:25Today, August 1st, 2025, he hit India with 25% tariffs.
00:31But does he always follow through?
00:33Let's see how this affects us in India.
00:47Robert Armstrong, a writer from Financial Times, a major U.S. newspaper, coined taco in May 2025.
00:54It means Trump says he'll put huge tariffs, extra costs on stuff countries sell to America to protect U.S. jobs.
01:01But when prices rise or markets panic, he often backs off, delays or waters them down.
01:09Trump says it's just negotiation, but others laugh and call it chickening out.
01:13And the irony, he's been compared to a taco while still pushing to keep Mexicans out.
01:18Well, we're negotiating right now and it's also BRICS.
01:21You know, they have BRICS, which is basically a group of countries that are anti the United States.
01:26And India's a member of that, if you can believe it.
01:29It's an attack on the dollar.
01:31Why care? Tariffs make things cost more.
01:33For India, Trump's 25% tariff means American buyers pay extra for our exports, India's exports, like clothes, medicines and phones.
01:42That could mean fewer sales, lost jobs here and slower money growth for India.
01:46Plus, Trump wants to impose an extra penalty because he says India buys cheap oil from Russia.
01:52It might make petrol or other things pricier for us.
01:55But if Trump chickens out later, prices could drop back.
01:58So Putin, it's too bad.
02:02Here are a few examples.
02:04In April, Trump set super high tariffs on everyone.
02:07Mark it.
02:08Well, then he cut them to 10% for a bit.
02:10Threatened Europe, delayed it.
02:12For India, he planned 25%.
02:14Today, he did it.
02:15No delay so far.
02:16But he gave Mexico 90 more days.
02:18In July, he had softened on Brazil, although he did slap a 50% tariff on Brazil by the time the month drew to a close.
02:23In other news, Trump also threatened military action 22 times, but did so only twice.
02:28So, mostly backs down or chickens out, as his critics like to say.
02:33Taco shows Trump's big words, but quick changes.
02:35For India, these tariffs could hurt our shops and jobs.
02:39Experts say it might slow our growth.
02:41Is it smart or silly?
02:42Tell me in the comments.
