86 SPEAKERS, 11 amplifiers, and more than a mile of LED light wiring have been crammed into an H2 Hummer to create a deafening party-mobile. Rafael Capone has modified cars all his life, but his ‘Soul Asylum H2’ Hummer, built to promote his recording studio of the same name, has taken things to a new level. The speaker-packed behemoth has been dominating car show competitions around Rafael’s native Atlanta, wowing crowds with its all-custom interior and LED light set-up. Rafael told FutureStudiosCars: “No piece of this car was left factory. The reaction when we pull up is always a, ‘Wow, I love your car’.

00:07We usually start with sound quality and just get used to that.

00:11We slam them on the bass.

00:26I'm Rafael Capone, the owner of the Solar Sound Studios Group.

00:30And here we have the Solar Sound H2.

00:44The amount of speakers in the Solar Sound H2 is 86.

00:50We want sound quality at loud, natural volumes versus just blaring, hurting your ears loud.

01:29You probably already know.

01:30We average at least 100 car shows a year.

01:33That's not including meets.

01:35We average just over 250, sometimes 300 to under 300 trophies a year.

01:48I got something to say.

01:49I made the Solar Sound H2 because it isn't the first of its kind.

01:54And 1990, when I was still in the military, my first show vehicle was built.

01:55And that was my passion.

01:56Of course I wanted to open up a recording studio, but I wanted to do both.

01:57So I built a show vehicle.

01:58It was called the Motown Soldier.

01:59It became world-famous back then.

02:00So we got this in the end of 2014.

02:02When we finished the show vehicle, we got this.

02:05We got this.

02:06The show vehicle was sort of the show vehicle and it was just in the in the military.

02:09And I was just in the military.

02:10I got something to say.

02:11I made the Solar Sound H2 because it isn't the first of its kind.

02:29In 30 days, we put all the LED lights on it.

02:31We got a system going in it.

02:34We put the graphics on it.

02:37Started doing shows and it was cool.

02:41When building it, my main focus was sound quality.

02:43I wanted to be loud, but I wanted sound quality.

02:46I wanted to what I hear in the studio,

02:47to hear on the road.

02:48All of our speakers are doing different things.

02:51So let's say we have 10 10s.

02:53Six tweeters, 14 horns, 12 subs,

03:01six, eight mid bass speakers, eight mid ring speakers.

03:05We've been told up to three miles away,

03:08we've been heard.

03:10Because sometimes on the weekend I'll prepare for a show

03:12and I'll be testing and tuning and a cop pulled up.

03:16And he was like, what are you doing?

03:18I was like, hey, I have a championship show tomorrow.

03:21I'm trying to set the system.

03:22He was like, I was two and a half miles away

03:25and just followed the sound to you.

03:27I was like, okay, I'll cut it off.

03:28And he was such a nice cop.

03:29He said, I'm gonna give you 15 more minutes.

03:31I'll cancel all the 911 calls.

03:33It's complaining about the sound.

03:35And get your system right and I hope you win.

03:38And I took those 15 minutes and I set the system.

03:41And when we did that show the next day,

03:43we came back with 12 trophies.

03:44One show.

03:46Trying to get 86 speakers, 11 amplifiers,

03:51three miles of copper wiring,

03:53three alternators, seven batteries, DSP,

03:57and a vehicle this size.

04:00Everything had to be designed.

04:01So even our pillars, which are easily overlooked,

04:03are custom pillars that house tweeters.

04:05Of course, we have a red chrome wrap

04:07with the red chrome matching wheels.

04:09And then we have all of our microphones

04:11that are easily overlooked.

04:22So we can cut on up to five microphones

04:23and have five live mics going at the same time

04:39because we have a studio grade mixer.

04:42This is my favorite microphone.

04:43So it stays up here with me.

04:44But the other thing is that I've done

04:45it stays up here with me but the mics we let people use are in the back. A nice iPad and a dash

04:53and all our switches have been moved but the coolest thing we pull our iPad out we still

04:59have our radio controls. On a quick glance that's the Soul Asylum H2. A very diverse multi-controlled

05:0886 speaker mobile stage sound quality SPL build. The nice thing about the Soul Asylum H2 is it isn't slow

05:19it's top speed 105 miles an hour in this big beautiful heavy vehicle. I'll let you guys just

05:26think about what it could possibly cost but we did buy the Hummer used for $40,000

05:31and if you just take our amps and speakers in a box unshipped from Match Pro Audio you're looking

05:39at over $35,000 just in a box. Best I can give you on prices. If we ever sold H2 we definitely had to be

05:49someone that was going to use it for charity or use it for what we're using it for it couldn't just

05:53go and be locked up in some garage. If someone offered me money to buy the Soul Asylum H2 without

05:57hesitation it would be for a quarter million dollars. When it gets dark the Soul Asylum H2 is bananas we have

06:06won world titles for our LED lighting interior and exterior. I'm a very humble person but we made

06:15people change up their lighting game. We're very competitive yes I go to the shows to compete and to

06:21win because I'm there representing my company at the same time. So we want them and earn them for them.
