At least nine people killed in explosion at fireworks factory in central Thailand

00:00At least nine people have been killed in an explosion at a fireworks factory in central Thailand, local officials said on Wednesday.
00:09The blast occurred in Supanburi province, about 95 kilometers north of Bangkok, in the heart of Thailand's central rice growing region.
00:19According to the Sameko Supanburi Rescue Foundation, nine people were confirmed dead, while two others were taken to the hospital in critical condition.
00:28The number of people missing was not immediately clear.
00:32Shattered wooden buildings in green rice fields littered the scene of the explosion.
00:38Authorities said the building was used to produce fireworks, but the cause of the explosion was yet to be determined.
00:46A similar incident in the same area in January 2024 killed around 20 people.
