00:00Always helps. Same rule works for multiple pawns endgames. You have passed pawns, protected pawns, whatever.
00:09So every time you should remember that active rook in the endgame offers you a good opportunity, a good chance to either save the game or if you are on the strong side to win the game.
00:22There's an important modification of the pawn's endgames, you may call it, a queen versus pawn.
00:34Sometimes it happens. You promote first, but then there's one pawn on the second rank or the seventh rank, and it's important to remember that there's certain rules.
00:44So if we have a queen somewhere, our king is somewhere, and black has a king and a pawn.
00:55So pawn on d2, it's easy. So I'm sure you know how to win. You pin it, you give a check, you force the king here, and then you make sure a king goes in front of the pawn,
01:08and then you start bringing your king. No matter how far is the king, you can always have the same maneuver.
01:14That works if the pawn is on b2, the knight pawn. Same maneuver.
01:21The trick is what happens if we have rook pawn or bishop pawn.
01:26So with rook pawn, it's really tough because if you do the same thing, then king goes on a1, and it's a stalemate.
01:35And if your king is far away, you cannot win.
01:38The only way to win against this pawn, if your king is relatively close, that's important to remember, say on d5.
01:46And then you give a check, check, b1, and now you rush with your king.
01:54Back, black promotes a queen, but after king b3.
