St Agatha’s Church in Market Way, Portsmouth, held their opening of the South entrance and newly created garden on Friday, July 25, 2025

00:00A huge welcome to everybody here today. I think it's safe to say that in decades

00:06past, which are thankfully now behind us, some of the sensitivities that should

00:12have been directed towards Agatha's were less sympathetically dealt with. But it's

00:19fantastic on this occasion that there's been a project that the Council has been

00:23delivering around this area and that we've got such a brilliant outcome for

00:28a new piece of what we will call, from a Council perspective, public realm for the

00:32public to enjoy that also directly benefits St Agatha's Church, somewhere

00:36that particularly close to my heart having been involved in projects here

00:40with some of you here today over the years and my personal affection for Father

00:46John and what he and the community deliver here. So thank you for being here

00:51today and hopefully this will be something that will be the first step in

00:55eventually realizing the vision that we all know Father John has for St Agatha's

01:00and its future.
