00:05Opened on the 1st of July, the Wonsan Kalma Coastal Tourist Zone is seen as a key part of President Kim Jong-un's ambitions to boost tourism.

00:15But for now, the massive resort, said to accommodate up to 20,000 people, will not be open to foreign visitors.

00:22The Wonsan Kalma Coastal Tourist Area attracts many people from across the country.

00:31But the extent of the foreigners ban remains unclear.

00:34Moscow's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov visited the resort earlier this month, describing it as a good tourist attraction.

00:41Russia last week launched monthly flights to Pyongyang amid growing ties between the two nations.

00:47The Kalma Peninsula had this beach strip here, which is four kilometers long.

00:53It's well known in our country as a scenic spot.

00:57Russian tourists have been visiting North Korea since last year.

01:01Visitors from the west were allowed in from February, but this was abruptly halted weeks later without Pyongyang saying why.

01:08In the meantime, North Koreans get to enjoy the state-run beachfront complex with its hotels, restaurants, shopping malls and a water park.
