What if your boss made you a millionaire when the company sold? That’s exactly what Mark Cuban did — not once, but multiple times. From his early Microsolutions sale to the $5.7B Yahoo deal for Broadcast.com, Cuban made sure his team shared the wealth. Even in 2023, when selling the Mavericks, he handed out millions to long-time staff. His reason? “It’s the right thing to do.”

00:00What if your boss made you a millionaire when the company sold?
00:03That actually happened.
00:04300 out of 330 employees became millionaires when Mark Cuban sold his company.
00:09Back in 1990, Cuban sold his first company, Microsolutions, for $6 million.
00:14He kept just 20% and gave the rest to his employees,
00:18about $15,000 each for those who stuck around at least a year.
00:21Then came the big one.
00:22In 1999, Cuban sold Broadcast.com to Yahoo for $5.7 billion.
00:27And instead of keeping it all, he made sure 91% of his team, 300 people, became millionaires too.
00:35He did it again in 2019 with HDNet.
00:38And when he sold the Mavericks in 2023, he handed out over $35 million to longtime staff.
00:44As Cuban puts it, it's the right thing to do.
