00:00Opening statement. From the moment he was elected, President Trump has manufactured chaos in
00:06California. He's taken over our National Guard, deployed Marines to Los Angeles, threatened to
00:12arrest our governor, and is stalling disaster aid for our state that is so desperately needed
00:19to recover from the deadly L.A. fires that destroyed homes, displaced thousands, and took
00:2431 lives. Now, Republicans have flown in to do his dirty work, staging a sham hearing to push lies
00:32about this big, ugly bill that will devastate working-class Californians and small businesses.
00:40Let's be clear. This bill is the largest transfer of wealth from the poor to the rich in modern
00:48history. Republicans are ripping health care away from 15 million Americans, the most ever in our
00:57nation's history, including 2.3 million Californians. This hearing is pathetic, political theater.
01:05Californians won't fall for it, and we won't forget who sold us out. I yield back.
01:10I would like to remind the audience that clapping is a disruption of a congressional proceeding.
01:23I've allowed it a couple times, but please honor the federal rules of order within a congressional
01:33hearing. I'm pleased to recognize the gentleman from California, Mr. Gomes.
