00:00:00Welcome to our 21st season of The Block, and our 951st episode.
00:00:15This year we're heading 114 kilometres northwest of Melbourne, into the foothills of the Great
00:00:21Dividing Range of Victoria, to the idyllic country town of Dalesford.
00:00:25This vibrant town is the cultural heart of country Victoria.
00:00:32It's known for its show-stopping gardens, endless galleries, award-winning restaurants
00:00:37and festivals, especially the annual Chill Out Festival.
00:00:41Dalesford is also the wellness capital of Victoria.
00:00:49Hepburn Springs is home to Australia's largest concentration of mineral springs.
00:00:55Since the 1860s, locals and tourists have been flocking to the area and taking the waters.
00:01:03It's the ultimate destination for rest, rejuvenation and relaxation.
00:01:07The main hub of Dalesford is just a two-minute drive from this year's block site.
00:01:18And for the first time ever, the whole block is a brand new build.
00:01:22So the team from 9 and 6 and Truecore Steel have been busy getting the site ready.
00:01:28To keep the site safe, the block is surrounded by modular walls.
00:01:36All five houses sit on 2,000 square metres, which is four times the size of your average Aussie home.
00:01:43And each house is exactly the same size at 346 square metres, making it big, really big.
00:01:51And for the first time, all five houses have identical floor plans, down to the millimetre.
00:01:57There's four bedrooms, three bathrooms, open plan living, kitchen area, rumpus, al fresco terrace,
00:02:05garage and a shed situated in exactly the same spot on all of the floor plans.
00:02:10Which means every decision that's made could be a winning or losing decision.
00:02:15So unlike other years, our teams are under more pressure than ever.
00:02:20It's simple, really. All our blockheads have to do is deliver amazing rooms every week.
00:02:26Every day is a challenge.
00:02:27Got to rip up our whole floor. Probably not going to finish, though.
00:02:30I just really wanted to get it done.
00:02:31It's just one thing after the other.
00:02:33Take all the tiles off.
00:02:35Yeah.
00:02:35It puts it into perspective that, you know, we might not deliver a room.
00:02:39You can't afford to not finish another room.
00:02:41Okay, maybe not that simple.
00:02:44Welcome back to the block.
00:02:47Welcome to chaos.
00:02:48We're trying to get a million things done really quickly.
00:02:53First rule of chopping, no shelling off.
00:02:56Why is that so hot?
00:02:57Nah, that's ridiculous.
00:02:59Imagine being with your partner for this long.
00:03:00Oh, cool.
00:03:01How's the relationship?
00:03:03That's how it is today.
00:03:04Woo.
00:03:05You've done at your own risk, everyone.
00:03:07So now I've lost trust here.
00:03:08I feel like I just got torn off by my parents.
00:03:11Babe, I'm really annoyed at you.
00:03:14I don't know whether to laugh or cry.
00:03:18Pulp.
00:03:20Challenges are bigger.
00:03:22Do you understand that, Taz?
00:03:24Let's pickle.
00:03:25Pickle time.
00:03:26And bolder than ever.
00:03:33This year, the block is the happiest place on earth.
00:03:36We're all going to have some good times on this show.
00:03:38She literally came on the block pregnant.
00:03:40They have been busy.
00:03:42We're also going to have some pretty bad times on this show.
00:03:45Game over.
00:03:47Here's your block drama.
00:03:48If you wanted to be greedy, you'd go be greedy and do exactly that.
00:03:53But are you calling us greedy?
00:03:55Can is on.
00:03:56The lights are on there.
00:03:57Hands?
00:03:57No lights.
00:03:58Turn your lights on, idiot.
00:04:00If someone accused me of doing something I didn't do, I would fight to the death to prove that I was innocent.
00:04:05We're trying to play an honest, good game, but now we're playing hard.
00:04:11Spicy.
00:04:14I've been nothing but your mates the entire time.
00:04:17Don't you dare and I will not allow you to throw me under the bus that I've been a nasty
00:04:22because I've done nothing but take care of you and he's done nothing but take care of you.
00:04:26Because I will not cop that.
00:04:29I think this is going to be a really nice series.
00:04:32All these houses are the same.
00:04:34What does separate us?
00:04:35No one's going to want to settle.
00:04:36Someone else doing one.
00:04:38No.
00:04:39Oh, that'd be annoying.
00:04:40Who cares?
00:04:40Yeah.
00:04:43I feel as though also, by the way, that I'm sitting with the winners of the block as well.
00:04:51Game on, moles.
00:04:53Game on, mole.
00:04:56Game on, indeed.
00:05:00Oh my gosh.
00:05:02Look at that.
00:05:03Whoa, whoa, whoa.
00:05:05With every home being exactly the same size, with exactly the same floor plan.
00:05:10The details have never been so important.
00:05:13I'm besotted.
00:05:16With dizzying highs.
00:05:17This is what's bringing the buyer in.
00:05:19This is where the money goes.
00:05:20Oh my god!
00:05:26How's that happened?
00:05:26What has happened?
00:05:28I think Shayna hates me.
00:05:29And some of the biggest botches ever.
00:05:32I don't believe this is what the Dallas food market is really going to respond to.
00:05:36Oh, I hate it.
00:05:43Like, I'm great at selling.
00:05:47And not even I can sell this room.
00:05:50Oh, that's brutal.
00:05:51But in the end, it all comes down to the buyer on auction day.
00:05:55Sold!
00:05:55Sold!
00:05:56You just won the bloody block.
00:05:58Welcome to the block 2025.
00:06:00Cramp.
00:06:01Cramp.
00:06:02Strap on and buckle up.
00:06:05The happiest block on earth.
00:06:07Are we doing anything crazy this week?
00:06:11Boys!
00:06:13Gunny, Shelly.
00:06:14Dad!
00:06:15Dad!
00:06:16Dad!
00:06:16Dad!
00:06:16Dad!
00:06:17Dad!
00:06:18Dad!
00:06:18Dad!
00:06:19Dad!
00:06:20Dad!
00:06:21Dad!
00:06:21Dad!
00:06:34So how's the process been for you both?
00:06:36Yeah, good!
00:06:37Excited to hear how we went with everything and where we are in the process, I guess.
00:06:42Well, you're up to the next phase which is packing your bags and coming to the block.
00:06:47I'm going to get off.
00:06:50No!
00:06:50No way!
00:06:51I'm going to get out of here.
00:06:54I can't get out of here.
00:06:59Well done, are you?
00:07:01I'm Em.
00:07:02I am 32.
00:07:03And I'm Ben.
00:07:04I'm 32 also.
00:07:05Oh no, not down the hill!
00:07:06We've known each other for 20 years.
00:07:08And been together for...
00:07:1013.
00:07:1215.
00:07:12We met in high school, in year seven, in the locker bays actually.
00:07:19In the locker bays.
00:07:21We weren't dating then, but I was keen on Em.
00:07:25I was keen on Em.
00:07:27She was playing a bit too cool.
00:07:29Bit hard to get.
00:07:30And then we got together after year 12 and been together ever since.
00:07:33We got married nearly three years ago now.
00:07:41Down at a beautiful national park on the Mornington Peninsula.
00:07:46We had perfect weather.
00:07:47It was perfect.
00:07:48It just turned into a big party.
00:07:52We're just like best mates.
00:07:53Yeah.
00:07:55Close to getting the age where we're looking to start families and all that.
00:07:59So, I'm a small business owner.
00:08:02But I'm also a high school teacher.
00:08:04And I teach woodwork and textiles.
00:08:07Alright, so this is our first trip.
00:08:10I'm also a pole dance instructor, which is the best job in the world.
00:08:16I've represented Victoria in Miss Pole Dance Australia,
00:08:19but I've also placed in the Victorian pole champs.
00:08:23I love being on stage and dancing and creating a show, teaching pole.
00:08:28Everyone starts from the same level and they move up together and
00:08:33I just teach women how to love themselves.
00:08:36Well done guys.
00:08:37And their body.
00:08:43Ben speaking.
00:08:44I'm a civil engineer.
00:08:46Windows, new.
00:08:47Yeah.
00:08:47Design engineering for small houses all the way up to smaller commercial three-story buildings.
00:08:54We love renovating.
00:08:55We've definitely been training for the block.
00:08:57And we've applied for the block for seven years.
00:08:59Yeah.
00:09:03Keeping our fingers and toes crossed that this is the year.
00:09:08This was our lucky year.
00:09:10Bye!
00:09:11Thanks guys.
00:09:12How quickly life can go from one thing to another.
00:09:22It depends zero to a thousand.
00:09:24Quickly.
00:09:25All right, so pitch roof, flat roof, pitch roof, flat roof, pitch roof.
00:09:40Oh my god.
00:09:41That's cool.
00:09:42I think I'm gonna cry.
00:09:42Don't cry yet.
00:09:44Oh my gosh, look at me.
00:09:47Let's go.
00:09:51Oh my goodness.
00:09:54They're so big.
00:09:56They are massive.
00:09:57G'day boys.
00:10:08Now I know I told you that we wouldn't have an answer for a few more days.
00:10:11But stop it.
00:10:13You're coming to the block.
00:10:14Shut your f***ing serious.
00:10:21Oh my god.
00:10:24We don't know what we're doing.
00:10:27Oh my god.
00:10:28Holy.
00:10:33I'm Matt Johnson.
00:10:34I'm from Adelaide.
00:10:35I'm 40 years old and I'm a hairdresser.
00:10:37I'm Robby.
00:10:40I'm 36 years old.
00:10:41I'm from Adelaide and I'm a barber.
00:10:44We're the hairy boys.
00:10:45Except I'm smooth like a dolphin.
00:10:52Having a gay best mate is the best thing in the world.
00:10:56And we've been best mates for, gosh, 15 maybe years?
00:11:00Yeah, 15 plus.
00:11:01Easy.
00:11:04Matt and I actually met through the hair industry.
00:11:07Yeah, Rob came to me to get his hair cut.
00:11:09Then the next weekend he invited me out jet skiing.
00:11:11I bought some rock melon with like prosciutto and stuff wrapped around it.
00:11:14And he's like the gay staying.
00:11:22I have a partner, Alyssa, and a baby called Brooks who's five months old.
00:11:27And he is just the light of my world.
00:11:29He's the most cutest little thing.
00:11:31And every day he changes.
00:11:33And me not being around him for this huge time is going to be the toughest,
00:11:37toughest part of this whole journey for me.
00:11:39Technology we have these days.
00:11:40I should be able to FaceTime him when I need to.
00:11:42Do you have any phone?
00:11:44Do you have any phone?
00:11:46Are you going to come with me?
00:11:48I was very lucky they called me as soon as Brooks was born.
00:11:51And to see you as a father, to see how proud you were of Alyssa, incredible.
00:11:58It softened you a little bit.
00:11:59You know, I've never heard so many nice things come out of your mouth.
00:12:02I've never heard so many nice things come out of your mouth.
00:12:04I've been dating Rob for three years, so I've been dating Matt for three years too.
00:12:08Yeah.
00:12:10I was born in Tennant Creek in the Northern Territory.
00:12:15My parents moved to Adelaide when I was quite young.
00:12:18My mum left my dad for my dad's best friend's wife when I was like 13 or 14.
00:12:26And they're still together to this day.
00:12:28They've been together for like nearly 30 years and here we are.
00:12:38I got into figure skating when I was about 13.
00:12:40I travelled the world doing Aladdin on ice.
00:12:43I was a prince in Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella on ice.
00:12:47Ice dancing isn't a sport mate.
00:12:49F*** off mate.
00:12:53In total, I won five Australian figure skating championships.
00:12:59High school was probably the toughest time for my life because I was a bigger skating
00:13:04gay boy at a private Catholic school with lesbians for parents.
00:13:08So it wasn't f***ing easy in the late 90s, I'll put it that way.
00:13:19So my soccer career was pretty full on.
00:13:21I've played since I was three.
00:13:22I was at the highest level you could play under A-League in South Australia.
00:13:25Probably training four to five times a week.
00:13:27Games Saturday, recovery Sunday.
00:13:30Pretty full on schedule for the 19 years of my life.
00:13:33And I finished up in end of 2023.
00:13:35And now life after football has begun.
00:13:38Oh, because we're just going on the block, you know, just the biggest TV show in Australia.
00:13:41Rob's been asking me to do this for 10 years and I've been saying no for 10 years.
00:13:45Then this year I was like, come on, let's get on a crack.
00:13:47Mate, I said, just let's apply once.
00:13:50And if we don't get in, then I'll drop it.
00:13:54And here we are.
00:13:57Oh my god.
00:13:59Holy s***.
00:14:02They're building roads.
00:14:04It's a new build.
00:14:05I thought it was a reno.
00:14:07I thought this was a reno show.
00:14:09You told me we were renoing.
00:14:11So FYI to people playing at home, I haven't watched the show before.
00:14:14I've watched a couple of episodes.
00:14:16I know blasphemy, there's going to be hate coming on the line from this.
00:14:19Oh, what have we got ourselves into?
00:14:21What have you got us into?
00:14:22This isn't a me thing.
00:14:24You have done this.
00:14:25There was one car in front of us.
00:14:27And so we drove up really slowly to it.
00:14:30Heart behind.
00:14:30Hi.
00:14:31Hi.
00:14:33How you going?
00:14:35We got some bread, man.
00:14:37Oh s***.
00:14:40Tall, red hair, short, red hair.
00:14:44Big red and little red.
00:14:46Is your hair all natural?
00:14:47It is.
00:14:47Oh, congratulations.
00:14:50It's amazing.
00:14:51Well done.
00:14:52Congrats.
00:14:53Yeah.
00:14:53Have you done reno's before?
00:14:55Look.
00:14:55Oh.
00:14:55Oh.
00:14:56Define reno.
00:14:59Spelled a paintbrush.
00:15:00Yeah, yeah or no.
00:15:03They mean business.
00:15:03Like they are here for a reason and they know what they want.
00:15:07Well, we're here for like, you know.
00:15:09Life skills and good times and having a nice day.
00:15:13I'm just kidding.
00:15:14We're here to win.
00:15:15So buckle up, bitches.
00:15:17We're on.
00:15:17I'm just kidding.
00:15:18We're on.
00:15:32Now, Sonja and Alicia, look, I'm just calling to say congratulations because you're coming
00:15:39Oh, that's so sparky.
00:15:46Lee, she's one of the most loyal people I know.
00:15:52She's a great friend to many, a great wife, an awesome mum.
00:15:56Our eldest is Aria, and our middle child is Boston, and I'm going to cry.
00:16:02And our youngest is Koha, he's eight.
00:16:06Our mornings start pretty early.
00:16:11I get the kids up, I make them breakfast, then we pack school bags, lunches, feed the dogs,
00:16:16and I make sure that, yeah, the dishes are all done before we go.
00:16:21Quick! Jump them in, hurry up!
00:16:23I'm Alicia, I'm 41, I'm a practice manager in a dental clinic.
00:16:27I'm Sonny, I'm 44, I'm a plumber.
00:16:32We live our life for our kids, yeah.
00:16:34They're at school all day, Leish works.
00:16:36I go to work.
00:16:37I either get to sport in the afternoon or Leish gets to sport in the afternoon.
00:16:41Some days we're getting back here at 6.30, quarter to 7 at night, sneak some homework in,
00:16:46then it's dinner time.
00:16:47Rinse and repeat.
00:16:49When the kids were young, Leish...
00:16:51I wasn't working.
00:16:52She wasn't working.
00:16:53She wasn't working because we, you know, we had three kids within three and a half years.
00:16:56And our sort of thing was we want to have kids to raise kids, not to fob them off.
00:17:01But it sort of made it a challenge at times and someone didn't pay us.
00:17:05We'd lost a bit of money there and, like, we were literally...
00:17:08Beans and rice.
00:17:09Beans and rice.
00:17:10We would make sure that the kids could eat and had what they had.
00:17:12And then we just fought through and come back out the other side, you know?
00:17:15I describe Sonny as a very loving husband and father.
00:17:22He's hardworking, supportive, encouraging.
00:17:26However, I married a plumber thinking that, you know, I'd never have to have a cold shower
00:17:31or have a leaking toilet.
00:17:33But the chef doesn't cook at home, apparently, so I get to...
00:17:36We've actually got a leaking toilet.
00:17:37We have a leaking toilet at the moment, if you guys have noticed.
00:17:40Are you scared for us?
00:17:42I just hope you don't embarrass me too.
00:17:44We'll try our hardest not to.
00:17:47We try and lead by example.
00:17:49That's what we're doing this for.
00:17:51That's why we're, you know, want to have a crack.
00:17:53We're doing this for them.
00:17:54I know it's a long time away, but...
00:17:56That'll be the hardest thing for them and us.
00:17:59And, look, everyone's had a few tears here at home before we're going.
00:18:02I just love them so much.
00:18:05Some choices now. I'm going to try.
00:18:08I hope that when we come home that they just tell us that we did a good job
00:18:12and they're proud of us, really.
00:18:13I actually think that you guys could have a chance.
00:18:16Thanks, Bex.
00:18:17Are you ready?
00:18:18Holy dooly, we are here.
00:18:21Ready to roll.
00:18:22Yeah.
00:18:23Gone from watching the show with the kids at home to, yeah, now being here and it's happening.
00:18:28Like, this is everything that we wished for.
00:18:30It's unbelievable.
00:18:31Oh, my God.
00:18:32Oh, my God.
00:18:33Oh, my God.
00:18:37Are you good?
00:18:38Yeah, I'm good.
00:18:39We got this.
00:18:40Oh, my gosh.
00:18:42Hello.
00:18:43How are you?
00:18:44Oh, my gosh.
00:18:45New friends!
00:18:46Yay!
00:18:47How are you going?
00:18:48How are you going?
00:18:49I'm Robbie.
00:18:50You've got to get him lined.
00:18:51Nice to meet you.
00:18:52Hey, mate.
00:18:53How are you?
00:18:54How are you?
00:18:55How are you doing?
00:18:56I did notice that we were starting to look like we were the old couple of the block.
00:19:01We might be the old couple of the block, so we weren't surprised.
00:19:03We might look old, but we can keep up with the young ones.
00:19:06All right, which house do you shotgun?
00:19:08Yeah, what do you guys reckon?
00:19:09I'm on either end.
00:19:10One or five a week.
00:19:11Oh, that's what we were saying.
00:19:12Either end.
00:19:13I think so.
00:19:14We'll fight you for it.
00:19:17He's got nothing, don't worry.
00:19:19Don't fight her for it.
00:19:21Don't fight Leash.
00:19:22Yeah, right.
00:19:23G'day girls.
00:19:24Now, I know this has been quite an extensive process, so I'm just going to get to the
00:19:37point.
00:19:38We want you on the block.
00:19:39No way.
00:19:40Get out.
00:19:41I'm going to throw up.
00:19:42Oh my God.
00:19:43That's amazing.
00:19:44Okay, I'm going to cry and throw up at the same time.
00:19:48I'm Han.
00:19:51I'm 29.
00:19:52I grew up in Manchester in the UK until I was nine years old.
00:19:56I live in Perth and this is my partner Candice.
00:19:59I am 30, also from Perth.
00:20:01Hannah and I actually met a year ago on Hinge, the dating app.
00:20:05She absolutely blew me away and we ended up at a lovely wine bar talking until 3am about
00:20:12all our shared interests, our love of dogs, cooking, wine, and we have pretty much been
00:20:18inseparable ever since that first date.
00:20:21So I'm a geologist by trade.
00:20:22I've worked in some remote places, spent many years in the Pilbara.
00:20:27Long hours doing shift work and then moved to corporate, more mining professional now.
00:20:33I work in marketing and communications.
00:20:35I started out in fashion and then I went into music and festivals and events.
00:20:40And now I work corporate as a digital marketing analyst.
00:20:44Can is perfect balance for me.
00:20:45Sometimes I can get in my head a lot.
00:20:48I'm like very fast paced.
00:20:51I like to just do a lot.
00:20:53Tan loves adrenaline, full throttle, all in.
00:21:02I like balance and harmony.
00:21:04Yeah, she does.
00:21:10And she's always there to provide a laugh and lighten the mood.
00:21:12Tan really helps me figure out what's actually important and what's not.
00:21:17We both grew up with our dads telling us, anything the boys can do, you can do.
00:21:21Growing up, my dad always liked to make me feel the most capable I could, whether it
00:21:26is breaking down on the side of the highway and having to change my tyre in six-inch stilettos,
00:21:31I can do that.
00:21:33My dad has his own sand and soils landscape supply business, and so he had me on the tools
00:21:38from a young age.
00:21:39Dad's taught me how to bricklay, do garden beds, laying lawns, caring for plants.
00:21:44I'm a huge plant girlie.
00:21:46Good job.
00:21:47My dad had a renovation business, so I've been on the job site for as long as I can
00:21:55remember.
00:21:56Two external pebbles.
00:21:57We have that Bluetooth connection.
00:21:59It's kind of like we don't have to speak when we work together.
00:22:01We just know.
00:22:02I remember I was like seven years old, and he'd be like, go and rip that bathroom out.
00:22:07And I'd go and do it and feel the skips.
00:22:08He's taught me everything.
00:22:09Just down there, just put that on the pad.
00:22:14Anything we really put our mind to that we want to do, we can do it.
00:22:23Oh my goodness.
00:22:24Unbelievable.
00:22:25Oh my god.
00:22:26Oh my gosh.
00:22:27Wow.
00:22:28They're girls.
00:22:29Double girls?
00:22:30They're double girls.
00:22:31Hello.
00:22:32Hi.
00:22:33Hi.
00:22:34Hello.
00:22:35The Glamazons are in town.
00:22:36Look out.
00:22:37Hey, twins.
00:22:38How are you going?
00:22:39How are you doing?
00:22:40Nice to meet you.
00:22:41Nice to meet you.
00:22:42Nice to meet you.
00:22:43Nice to meet you.
00:22:44Nice to meet you.
00:22:45We have the girls from Perth.
00:22:46Girls from Perth.
00:22:47With great personality.
00:22:48Yep.
00:22:49They got out, and we were like, I reckon they're sisters.
00:22:51How do you know each other?
00:22:53What's the dynamic?
00:22:54How do we know each other?
00:22:55One guest, mate.
00:22:56I mean, we're holding hands.
00:22:58Quite interesting.
00:22:59I didn't say that.
00:23:00No, we're girlfriends.
00:23:01Yes!
00:23:02Join the gays.
00:23:03Join the gays.
00:23:04Join the gays.
00:23:05They're a good looking couple.
00:23:07You're not the only gay in the village, mate.
00:23:09No.
00:23:10Mike, where are you guys from?
00:23:11We're from Vic.
00:23:12Adelaide.
00:23:13Adelaide.
00:23:14And Queensland.
00:23:15Yeah.
00:23:16So we're just waiting on New South Wales now, what do you reckon?
00:23:19So how's everything going over there, guys?
00:23:29Biddy.
00:23:30Yeah, I don't know.
00:23:31It's like a heat wave.
00:23:33Well, it's about to get a lot cooler for you guys.
00:23:37Cause you're coming to the block.
00:23:41Congratulations.
00:23:42Thank you so much.
00:23:43Oh, my God.
00:23:44Oh, don't cry.
00:23:45I did not let her cry yet.
00:23:53Newman is about 1200 Ks from Perth.
00:23:56And it's about six hours inland from any closest beach.
00:24:00So literally quite smack bang in the middle.
00:24:02It's the middle of the desert.
00:24:03There's not much around it.
00:24:05Just smack bang in the...
00:24:06Lots of red dirt.
00:24:07Lot of red dirt.
00:24:09Ready for school?
00:24:11No.
00:24:12No?
00:24:13No.
00:24:14We're both police officers here.
00:24:15So we came here to learn more and to be within the community,
00:24:19to challenge ourselves and sort of set our young family up as well.
00:24:22Rit likes to remind her that she's the boss.
00:24:23Yeah.
00:24:24Because I outrank him.
00:24:2546 degrees out in Newman.
00:24:26So if anyone's running from us here, you're chasing.
00:24:27No.
00:24:28That's your job.
00:24:29So I'm a first class constable.
00:24:30So you get that I've done five years in the job.
00:24:31I'm just a measly corny.
00:24:32I was born in Wannaroo, down in Perth.
00:24:33So I grew up on a couple of acres.
00:24:34Had some horses.
00:24:35Just always spending a time outside, running around.
00:24:37Little bit of a bush kid.
00:24:38That's your job.
00:24:41So I'm a first class constable, so you get that I've done five years in the job.
00:24:47I'm just a measly corny.
00:24:49I was born in Wannaroo, down in Perth.
00:24:52So I grew up on a couple of acres, had some horses, just always spending a time outside,
00:24:57running around, a little bit of a bush kid.
00:25:08I've always wanted to be a police officer.
00:25:10I'm the sort of person I get bored doing the same thing day in, day out,
00:25:13so for me it was only natural. Policing every day is so different.
00:25:17It has its challenges being in the middle of nowhere.
00:25:19There might just be two of you and there's no backup.
00:25:25Desiree!
00:25:26We've got some pretty good relationships, especially with the elders up here.
00:25:30Desiree always has to take her to the shops,
00:25:33which we love doing because she sings her songs in the back of the car.
00:25:38Every time.
00:25:40And the kids.
00:25:41Oh my God, the kids up here are just beautiful.
00:25:43They just love the coppers.
00:25:44What are you doing?
00:25:47You're a lolly?
00:25:48Yeah, look.
00:25:50The community here don't mind police.
00:25:52They actually quite like us.
00:25:53We've got good relationships with the community here.
00:25:58I'm an Indigenous man.
00:25:59My people are Dharawal Dharawal.
00:26:01We're from the south east of New South Wales in the Wollongong regions.
00:26:05It definitely helps being like an Indigenous cop.
00:26:07I work with Indigenous people.
00:26:08For the local community to see an Indigenous person wearing the uniform.
00:26:12Craig's a great role model for them.
00:26:14Yeah.
00:26:18I've been wanting to be a cop since before I can remember.
00:26:21My dad was a cop.
00:26:22He was a New South Wales police officer for 16 years.
00:26:26And my mum worked in child protection.
00:26:28So to see them go to work and do what they did, I always wanted to sort of follow in the same sort of lines as them.
00:26:36I come over to WA to place an AFL at a semi-professional level over at Perth for the Deans.
00:26:41And then I met Brit.
00:26:42So I don't love this story, but yes, we did meet on Tinder.
00:26:47So here's me scrolling on Tinder.
00:26:50And then came across this guy's photo.
00:26:52And it stopped me in my tracks.
00:26:54And not for the reason you may think.
00:26:56I was like, who's this guy I think he is?
00:27:00His photo.
00:27:01Beautiful.
00:27:02Usain Bolt pose in the water.
00:27:05And I was like...
00:27:06Then I looked through the rest of it.
00:27:07I was like, oh, actually, he's alright.
00:27:09Maybe I'll swipe right to him.
00:27:13Was it love at first sight?
00:27:14It was.
00:27:15Yeah.
00:27:16Yeah, 100%.
00:27:17It sounds so cool.
00:27:18It does.
00:27:19It sounds awful to say, but it was.
00:27:22I would have proposed after five days.
00:27:24But Brit sort of goes, look.
00:27:25You've got five years.
00:27:26I won't hang around for too long.
00:27:27Propose in five years.
00:27:28Otherwise, you know, we might.
00:27:30I said, yeah, no worries.
00:27:31So I waited five years and a couple of days just to see.
00:27:34Hard experience as well.
00:27:36Had the kid, had the house, had everything sorted.
00:27:38Yeah, hard everything.
00:27:39I was like, where's the ring?
00:27:42We got married during COVID.
00:27:43Had to cancel it a few times.
00:27:45No family, no friends could get over.
00:27:47So...
00:27:48We just end up eloping.
00:27:49Yep.
00:27:50It was beautiful.
00:27:51Exactly what we wanted.
00:27:52Time after time.
00:27:53One.
00:27:54Two.
00:27:55Three.
00:27:56Pick up.
00:27:57Leaving the kids will be our biggest challenge.
00:28:02They're so young that they sort of understand, but don't understand.
00:28:06So that'll be the toughest part for us.
00:28:10For us to be on the block is literally a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
00:28:14Like, it's incredible.
00:28:15Bye, Mum and Dad.
00:28:16Bye, Mum and Dad.
00:28:17Bye, Mum and Dad.
00:28:18Bye, Mum and Dad.
00:28:19Have fun on the block.
00:28:20Have fun on the block.
00:28:21Have fun on the block.
00:28:23Tess.
00:28:24Tess!
00:28:25Tess!
00:28:26Tess!
00:28:27Tess!
00:28:28Oh my God!
00:28:29Oh my gosh.
00:28:30Literally crazy to think that what two weeks ago we were living our normal lives.
00:28:46In the desert in Newman and now we're in Dalesfield on the block.
00:28:50Yep.
00:28:51Insane.
00:28:52The house is massive.
00:28:53Oh!
00:28:54This is amazing.
00:28:57Driving down the driveway and we saw all these MGs and that's when we realised we were the
00:29:01last ones there and my God, your stomach just dropped.
00:29:04Well this is a bit unreal of course for our last hour.
00:29:05Tess!
00:29:06Tess!
00:29:07Tess!
00:29:08Tess!
00:29:09Tess!
00:29:10Tess!
00:29:11Tess!
00:29:12Tess!
00:29:13Tess!
00:29:14Tess!
00:29:15Tess!
00:29:16Tess!
00:29:17Tess!
00:29:18Tess!
00:29:19Tess!
00:29:20I'm a barber.
00:29:21So that made me feel a bit better because I was pretty nervous about not Ben At Prime
00:29:23on this show.
00:29:24How's it Brittany?
00:29:26As soon as Brittany rocked up we've just gone-
00:29:30Shiet!
00:29:31We looked at each other like...
00:29:33It's Brittany B****.
00:29:38I see you.
00:29:39And I just wanna dance with you.
00:29:45Well, g'day, gang!
00:29:46Hi!
00:29:47Scotty!
00:29:48Hi!
00:29:49Scotty!
00:29:50Hi!
00:29:51That's when I got shivers.
00:29:52I was like, holy .
00:29:55We're on the block.
00:29:56Scotty Cam's here.
00:29:57Frankie the dog's running around.
00:29:59My name is Scott Cam.
00:30:01This is Frankie Cam.
00:30:03And we are very pleased to meet you all.
00:30:06I thought I'd introduce myself because old mate here says he's never watched the show.
00:30:12Uh-oh!
00:30:13Until today, I thought Scott and Cam were two different people.
00:30:18That's not a good start for you.
00:30:21I am really excited about this series.
00:30:25One of the most popular tourist destinations in the country with a wonderful local community as well.
00:30:32The perfect setting for season 21 of The Block.
00:30:38Now, as you can see, there is a lot of work to do.
00:30:42Before we start renovating, I thought Frankie and I would take you on a tour.
00:30:46Yeah!
00:30:47Good enthusiasm.
00:30:48I like it.
00:30:49Let's go.
00:30:50Follow me.
00:30:51Come on, Frankie.
00:30:52First stop on the tour is our very own block shopping village.
00:30:59How about that?
00:31:00Guess who's come on board to take care of all your hardware needs.
00:31:09Bunnings.
00:31:10What?
00:31:11Bunnings.
00:31:12What?
00:31:13Who's where?
00:31:14Yes, the team from Bunnings have set up a whole container filled with your day-to-day stuff that you're going to need.
00:31:20And they have put in a full nursery.
00:31:23So you can get started on your garden straight off the bat.
00:31:26Wow.
00:31:27You guys are going to be doing this block in style, let me tell you.
00:31:29Because I've got a lot of surprises for you, including a full chemist warehouse.
00:31:34Yes!
00:31:35I didn't pack any moisturiser, so I was very excited.
00:31:38Actually, yeah.
00:31:39A bit dry.
00:31:41We've got a block shop that you can go in and look at stuff.
00:31:45Wow.
00:31:46And as of tomorrow, your very own McCaffrey.
00:31:49Yes!
00:31:50Yeah!
00:31:51How fantastic is that?
00:31:53Okay, the next thing on the tour, we're going to check out the campsite.
00:31:58You guys are camping for three months.
00:32:00Yeah!
00:32:01Do you want to go and check it out?
00:32:03Yes!
00:32:04As every house is a brand new build, our teams are not allowed to sleep on the job site.
00:32:10So to ensure a good night's sleep at the end of a long day, we're supplying some luxury accommodation.
00:32:27So we ran the corner out of the village and go over the bridge and then...
00:32:31What do we see?
00:32:32Well, as you can see, I have improved on the tents.
00:32:37Yes, you have, Scotty.
00:32:39Yeah.
00:32:40You guys will be living in these magnificent caravans.
00:32:43They're titanium caravans.
00:32:46They are the ducks nuts of caravans.
00:32:49They are magnificently appointed.
00:32:52They're beautiful.
00:32:53So, you can go and check them all out.
00:32:55Every single one of them, except that one.
00:32:58The one with the yellow star?
00:32:59That's mine.
00:33:00Go and have a look.
00:33:01They're beautiful.
00:33:02Oh, I noticed yours is a bit bigger, Scotty.
00:33:04It is.
00:33:05It's the best one.
00:33:07What?
00:33:08Oh my God, it's nicer than our house.
00:33:12Look at it.
00:33:14Oh!
00:33:15Okay, sold.
00:33:16We will have one.
00:33:17We're big campers as well, but usually it's just a swag on the floor in the middle of the desert.
00:33:21Alright, Scotty, we'll live in it.
00:33:22No worries.
00:33:23Oh my gosh, look at it.
00:33:24You could live in this for three months.
00:33:25I could definitely do eight months.
00:33:26I think it goes up.
00:33:27Oh no, it goes.
00:33:28Oh yeah, cool.
00:33:29Just living in a little house.
00:33:30Well, it's glamping, isn't it?
00:33:31Yeah.
00:33:32I think they're happy.
00:33:33Is there a shitter?
00:33:34Yep.
00:33:35Can you not shit in here, please?
00:33:36I was worried about everyone going to the toilet in, because who's going to empty it?
00:33:39Like, it doesn't worry me, but there's some people, and I'm thinking, I don't think they're
00:33:42going to want to empty their toilet.
00:33:44Ben's going to be the one emptying the toilet tank.
00:33:47It's a boys' job.
00:33:48It's not for me.
00:33:49It's not my vibe.
00:33:50We will not be, I don't think they're going to want to empty their toilet.
00:33:53Ben's going to be the one emptying the toilet tank.
00:33:56It's a boys' job.
00:33:58It's not for me.
00:33:59It's not my vibe.
00:34:00We will not be shitting in said toilet.
00:34:05Why?
00:34:06It'll be like the dungeon of stench.
00:34:13Right here, gang.
00:34:14Come on.
00:34:15We've got one more stop on the magical tour, and I've saved the best stop on the tour for
00:34:19last.
00:34:23This is where you'll be spending the next 12 weeks, every Sunday night, in my brand new
00:34:29shiny Stratco-built HQ.
00:34:32I'm calling it Scotty Sawmill.
00:34:34I'll tell you all about that later.
00:34:36Now, take in these magnificent homes here, with a brand new shiny MG parked out the front.
00:34:42Our architect Julian Brenchley has excelled.
00:34:45They are magnificent.
00:34:47This is what you are going to be building.
00:34:51Wow.
00:34:54Of the five houses this year, two have a flat roof, and three have a gable roof.
00:35:00Straight away, Ben decided he wanted house one.
00:35:11It was the only one on stumps, all the other ones on slabs of concrete.
00:35:15Top of the court, highest elevation, with the best view.
00:35:19He just ticked all the boxes.
00:35:20Yeah.
00:35:21You know, immediately, our eyes are picking out, like, right, which one?
00:35:23Which one?
00:35:24Do we still like five?
00:35:25And which one would we pick after that?
00:35:27Because we're thinking...
00:35:28Three became an option after seeing those.
00:35:30Three became an option.
00:35:31Very quickly, we knew which ones were on our list.
00:35:34We gravitated to one in particular, which was house number five.
00:35:41Straight away, I knew what house I wanted.
00:35:43It just goes with our theme of modern organic luxury from the outside.
00:35:47So it's that continuation inside out.
00:35:49House three.
00:35:50We didn't know how we were going to get it, but...
00:35:52Yeah.
00:35:53Once we walked in there, we were like, that's what we want.
00:35:55Yeah.
00:35:56Now, I don't need to remind you that this is a real estate competition.
00:36:00And after 12 short weeks of renovating, your houses are going to go up for auction.
00:36:05You'll keep any profits you make above reserve, and the team that makes the most above reserve
00:36:11will get $100,000 in prize money and be champions of the block.
00:36:16How good.
00:36:17So, choosing the house that you are going to renovate
00:36:21is probably the most critical decision you're ever going to make.
00:36:26Our game plan's to do whatever we've got to do to get the house we want.
00:36:29We want one, three or five, and if we have to take the flat roof houses...
00:36:34No.
00:36:35We would take...
00:36:36It's not an option.
00:36:37We're taking one, three or five.
00:36:38Now, it turns out that you guys have turned up to Daleswood on a very special day.
00:36:44Today is the annual Chill Out Festival.
00:36:47The longest-running Pride event in regional Australia.
00:36:50The whole town is putting on a parade just for you.
00:36:54Woo!
00:36:55Well, not quite, but you are going to be front and centre in today's parade, thanks to MG.
00:37:04And that is how we're going to decide which house you get to renovate.
00:37:10You will have two hours to design and build a float for the parade.
00:37:17You're going to be making a super deluxe Pride float that you're going to be in like a mini Mardi Gras in the country.
00:37:26We need to do the lesbians proud and make this, like, super big and amazing.
00:37:31So, yeah, pressure was on.
00:37:34We had discussed before we attended, let's just hope it's not an artistic challenge.
00:37:40Yeah.
00:37:41We're not the most artistic people, so...
00:37:43And what did you get?
00:37:44An artistic challenge.
00:37:45Come on!
00:37:46Non-stop, guys!
00:37:51As difficult as it was, we are going to give it to...
00:38:04OK, you have got two hours to build your float.
00:38:14And then you will be driven down the main street behind your shiny new MGs,
00:38:20our fantastic auto partner in this series.
00:38:23Now, there is a lot at stake today, as you can see.
00:38:28Good luck.
00:38:29Your time starts now.
00:38:31Go!
00:38:32Go!
00:38:33Go!
00:38:34Go!
00:38:35Go!
00:38:36Go!
00:38:37Go!
00:38:38Go!
00:38:39Don't be polite!
00:38:40Go!
00:38:41Get it!
00:38:42Get it!
00:38:43Get it!
00:38:44Reload, Sonny.
00:38:45Reload.
00:38:51And then we can tie these.
00:38:52We've got to give it a bit of an angle.
00:38:53Into here.
00:38:54Like that.
00:38:55Yeah, OK.
00:38:56Yeah.
00:38:57Got it!
00:38:58Now, boys, I love your enthusiasm with your first little project.
00:39:01Yes.
00:39:02It's fantastic.
00:39:03I do like this idea, right?
00:39:05But I feel as though the hammer should be at the top.
00:39:08You can still do the thing at the bottom.
00:39:10Now, boys, just letting you know that this is a family show.
00:39:15My mum watches the show, too, and she can...
00:39:17What's your mum's name?
00:39:18Gay.
00:39:19Gay.
00:39:20Gay?
00:39:21Gay cam.
00:39:22Gay cam.
00:39:23Fitting.
00:39:24Straighten her up.
00:39:27Is that the centre?
00:39:28Yeah, use these holes here.
00:39:30So we drilled holes in wood, put the zip ties through the holes and zip tied the wood to
00:39:35the wood, and then we zip tied the wood to the wood to the cage of the trailer.
00:39:39We had spray paint, done a couple of disco balls and a hammer.
00:39:42And some cacti as well.
00:39:44Spray painted them gold.
00:39:45Lots of little flags and just started zip tying them on.
00:39:48We got a bit lost there for a sec.
00:39:49And somehow a theme happened, so we just went with the whole rainbow pride thing.
00:39:53What?
00:39:54Are you taking that?
00:39:55Sorry, sorry, are you nicking this sign?
00:39:56We're nicking this sign.
00:39:57Brilliant!
00:39:58What a statement piece for the front of the team.
00:39:59It's a ripper.
00:40:00Well done.
00:40:01Let's go for it.
00:40:02Brilliant.
00:40:03Knocked off the block sign.
00:40:04We're having a bit of fun and then we're like, let's get a plan together.
00:40:05Let's get a theme.
00:40:06Let's start.
00:40:07I sort of took over.
00:40:08I know Brit's going to design a house, but I was like, I can design a pretty prideful
00:40:22flight.
00:40:23I just said, well, this is the theme.
00:40:25We'll get the horses on.
00:40:26We'll get the cactus on.
00:40:27We'll get the desert theme.
00:40:29It was amazing.
00:40:30Yeah, you know it.
00:40:31This is looking fantastic too, by the way.
00:40:34We had some big objects that kind of set the theme of our float.
00:40:38We centered it around, I guess, the front hero piece, which was a crown.
00:40:42We love hearts.
00:40:43Disco balls on top of it.
00:40:45And we went, oh, we're going to go with disco rainbow.
00:40:48And it eventually said just rainbow vomit disco.
00:40:52Right.
00:40:53You two seem pretty casual.
00:40:54Yeah.
00:40:55Yeah.
00:40:56You need to rustle it up a bit.
00:40:57We're trying Scotty.
00:40:58It's not going to plan so far.
00:41:00He doesn't want to listen to me yet.
00:41:01Oh, we're having a blow already?
00:41:02Yeah.
00:41:03First two hours.
00:41:04We're on already.
00:41:05We went from less is more to more is more and just get whatever you can and get it on
00:41:09the trailer and fill in the blanks.
00:41:11I had a bright idea we were team yellow, so let's go with the yellow team.
00:41:16Wrap it in yellow and start spray painting something.
00:41:18You're in a real panic.
00:41:19I can't get it.
00:41:20You've got an hour and a half to go.
00:41:21It's all right.
00:41:22You're going to go like this all the time?
00:41:23Nah.
00:41:24It's already a dream being here, but having the dream go a step further and getting the
00:41:31house we wanted was such a core driver.
00:41:35We wanted to have a really strong theme and build it up and be quite loud.
00:41:40We came in with the idea of having it to be construction themed with a quality as a core value.
00:41:48Our float was called Built to Thrive.
00:41:52Representing the girl team this year, so bringing the girl power.
00:41:56With about 20 minutes, half hour to go, I reckon we are in last place.
00:42:01We need to do something.
00:42:02Yeah.
00:42:03And Matt goes, I've got a great idea.
00:42:04Runs to his suitcase and pulls out a jacket and a pair of budgies.
00:42:09I've got it.
00:42:10The secret weapon.
00:42:14Yes.
00:42:15Finally we're wearing those and a microphone belt.
00:42:17Oh, we can manage that.
00:42:18We can sneak it in somewhere else.
00:42:23Oh, look at the boys.
00:42:28We match the rainbow, Thuey.
00:42:29But you didn't want to do the budgies?
00:42:31They didn't fit.
00:42:32Right.
00:42:33Quick, quick.
00:42:34Oh, she is.
00:42:35Oh my God.
00:42:36She is.
00:42:37Oh, she is.
00:42:38Oh, she is.
00:42:39Oh, she is.
00:42:40Oh, she is.
00:42:41Oh, she is.
00:42:42Oh, she is.
00:42:43Oh, ours is dog's breakfast.
00:42:44Where did you put the scissors?
00:42:45Don't panic.
00:42:46Just...
00:42:47Oh.
00:42:48Lightning.
00:42:49Dog's down.
00:42:50Well done.
00:42:51Now, congratulations out there.
00:42:52Oh, she is.
00:42:53Oh, she is.
00:42:54Oh, she is.
00:42:55Oh, she is.
00:42:56Oh, she is.
00:42:57Oh, she is.
00:42:58Oh, she is.
00:42:59Oh, she is.
00:43:00Congratulations, everybody.
00:43:01You have done a fantastic job.
00:43:03You are very competitive.
00:43:05I can see that already.
00:43:06Good luck.
00:43:07I will see you in the parade.
00:43:09You are right.
00:43:10You are right.
00:43:11Woo!
00:43:19We're in Dalesford for the biggest day on the calendar.
00:43:22Our teams have their floats ready.
00:43:24And joining me are some familiar faces to judge their efforts.
00:43:28The biggest day on the Dalesford calendar.
00:43:29It's amazing turnout.
00:43:30Both sides of the street.
00:43:31Down the middle.
00:43:32It's fantastic, isn't it?
00:43:33Yeah.
00:43:34Day one of the block.
00:43:35Day one of the block.
00:43:36Yes.
00:43:37This is their experience.
00:43:38And they've turned it off.
00:43:39Here comes the parade.
00:43:40The greatest day in Dalesford ever.
00:43:41Woo!
00:43:42Look at them go.
00:43:43We hooked the floats up to the MGs and then we cruised to the Chill Out Festival.
00:43:44Hard stop, baby, the city, the city.
00:43:45I need some heartache.
00:43:46Come here on.
00:43:47Okay, let's see.
00:43:48We have our own foam.
00:43:49We're just lucky that we can do it.
00:43:50We have them all.
00:43:51Yeah, but, we're not making sure that this is the best place for us.
00:43:52We got the first place to be done.
00:43:54We are just in the first place to be done.
00:43:55Well, the first place where we have to go is, then we have to get the best place good thing
00:43:56and a good place where we are.
00:43:57Alright, we have to get both of us.
00:44:02We have the floats up to the mgs and then we cruise to the chill out festival
00:44:20Look at them. I'm loving it. I know you're loving it, but you gotta judge
00:44:32My sister-in-law before we left messaged me she was like Brit
00:44:41How are you ready for Australia to fall in love with your husband? I was like no
00:44:47I'm not and then what happens day one? He's in budgie
00:44:52Crowd was loving it
00:44:54We're awesome. He's the best
00:45:01There was thousands there was so many people just everyone was so welcoming Robbie and Matt are really feel
00:45:18This is what we signed up for when else in your life are you ever gonna do that exactly
00:45:24Oh
00:45:40Not much of a dancer, but I had a boogie I
00:45:46Just hope you don't embarrass me, too
00:45:48We'll try our hardest not to
00:45:50Oh, the kids are going to be mortified. Yeah
00:45:54It was the last thing I thought that I would really enjoy. Yeah, but the town though
00:46:00And the kids were waving and judges up on the thing
00:46:03And in can
00:46:10Having the chance to be out and proud as well, you know, it does mean so much I know
00:46:16You know for a lot of my teenage years. I felt a lot of shame and an insecurity around around my sexuality
00:46:23I've not professed that I have a girlfriend or that I'm gay and I do hide it from certain people in certain
00:46:29Instances so to come on national TV and just be like
00:46:34It is a big thing
00:46:37And it's like fully just owning yourself and being like I'm here and this is who I am and I'm no different
00:46:43And that's how it should be it's just if you treat me well
00:46:47I treat you well and then we go forth and prosper just be fully embraced not only by the community
00:46:53But the other contestants and everyone getting so into it it was just total release and it was really special and I'll always
00:47:01Think back to that day with you in the float
00:47:10It's been absolutely a fantastic morning our gang did a great job with their floats. Have you picked a winner?
00:47:16Yes, mate
00:47:18Yeah, I'm a clear winner. It's gonna be fantastic great start to the block
00:47:34We are pulling in through the big rainbow after the parade
00:47:39And that's when it got even more real look at that under the rainbow
00:47:43Yeah, you can see scotty cam and we can see the judges. We know that this is the moment we find out whether we've done enough
00:47:53And then we realize that we're going straight into judging well well done everybody that was fantastic, but of course there has to be a winner
00:48:01Gang do we have a winner? I'd like a winner
00:48:04Sick
00:48:06This is one of the most important decisions
00:48:08We're going to make because you're going to get to choose your house now on the outside. They all look
00:48:13Completely different. So I'm sure in your mind. You know exactly which one you wanted at the moment. Yeah
00:48:22We have never in block history had five houses that are all
00:48:27Identical floor plans down to the millimeter so every single house no matter which one you pick
00:48:34They're going to be compared to each other to the greatest detail
00:48:39Every little thing any mark might be the thing that stops you winning this week, so every detail is important
00:48:48This this is the big decision. This was the biggest decision like we wanted to be able to pick our house
00:48:55Which unlike other blocks where we're comparing apples and oranges this season?
00:49:00It's apples with apples with apples
00:49:02So you've got to understand the style that you're going to go for and also what the buyer in the dalesford market will be engaged with
00:49:09These are all very good points, but I feel like you're stalling
00:49:13You are stalling. I would like a winner please
00:49:16Okay, are you happy for me to say guys absolutely as difficult as it was
00:49:21We are going to give it to
00:49:28Britain Taz
00:49:34We won. I can't believe it. We won. We won the house decided challenge
00:49:39Britain Taz you have 10 seconds. Which house do you want?
00:49:42House three
00:49:44Locked in locked in locked and loaded we wanted house three so
00:49:56What you picked the just middle of the three we were shocked yeah, that was a surprise house one or five would go first
00:50:05I think we shot each other a look and we're like, oh
00:50:07It's still up for grabs. We could still be on for house one. They chose house three and I thought we still got a chance
00:50:12I mean if you had first choice
00:50:15Personally that was us everyone would go either end yeah, so why have you picked house three instantly?
00:50:20I was just drawn to the facade of it
00:50:22It was a great design on the outside it matches our style to a tee quite a few teams want house one correct. Yeah, so it's still up for grabs
00:50:32So coming in second was
00:50:35rainbow vomit emma
00:50:37The second place went to us
00:50:44Which house?
00:50:46Which house emma?
00:50:51House one
00:50:51Number one please
00:50:52Audio
00:50:56Well there it goes
00:50:58There it goes
00:50:59There's still a chance house five still
00:51:02Right third okay third robbie matt
00:51:08Awesome thank you
00:51:10Which one do you want we're gonna take number one no they took number one
00:51:15Oh
00:51:20Audio copy that all the pitch ceilings are gone
00:51:24There we go you want to be pitched
00:51:25Oh my god
00:51:27Okay now I'm gonna have a meltdown
00:51:32Literally I was like she did I did
00:51:39That completely buckles what we had planned out and it changes it completely
00:51:45And fourth is
00:51:47Han and Ken thank you
00:51:50You're up
00:51:52Good
00:51:52Which one do you want
00:51:53What's left
00:51:54Oh my gosh
00:51:57We'll go house number
00:51:59I don't know it's two or four
00:52:02That's a senior
00:52:03Two
00:52:04Two okay
00:52:05No that was the wrong one
00:52:12I thought house four was more attractive from the facade
00:52:15Yeah
00:52:16Oh Kenny
00:52:20I just didn't even look at the other
00:52:23Like things because I wasn't interested
00:52:25And I was like there's no way that we
00:52:27And that was naive of me
00:52:28That means Sonny and Elish you get house four
00:52:33Yeah
00:52:36Sorry you should have
00:52:37No I don't know
00:52:41Ken and Han weren't too happy with their pick
00:52:44And their energy just completely dropped
00:52:46I think they were just disappointed
00:52:47I think they wanted four
00:52:49But what Scotty says guys
00:52:53Now we start tomorrow
00:52:56Get out of that high vis and get into some real high vis
00:53:00Thank God
00:53:01All right
00:53:02I'll see you tomorrow
00:53:03Thank you
00:53:03Thank you
00:53:04Off you go
00:53:05Thanks guys
00:53:07Oh well done
00:53:08That's so sick
00:53:09I don't know what you wanted
00:53:11Look at that
00:53:12Congrats
00:53:15House number one
00:53:16We got it
00:53:17The one that you wanted
00:53:18Big dog
00:53:18Look at these
00:53:19Hider than everyone else
00:53:20It's huge
00:53:22We feel like we've got the house we wanted
00:53:24So
00:53:24We're just 30 in a minute
00:53:26Yeah
00:53:26Let's go
00:53:27Yeah
00:53:31Yeah
00:53:32Whoo
00:53:36Did it did it did it did it
00:53:38Now I know this is house five
00:53:41But I reckon it's number one. It's definitely pick one in my eyes. Good stuff, mate. Yeah, okay great day
00:53:48Really glad we won the challenge because is the house we want we're in the center of the best street in Dalesford
00:53:58Yeah, good just walking through although I'm in my budgies
00:54:03Absolutely having a time
00:54:05Oh
00:54:08My god we did it
00:54:13This this is a problem to me this retaining wall
00:54:18Why it encloses what's supposed to be an outside open terrace
00:54:25And now you've hemmed in oh, it's we haven't seen the plan why can't I retain it back there?
00:54:32Why did you hate the retaining wall so much?
00:54:35I mean, it's a concrete wall really. I was just like oh like it's it makes the house feel a bit closed in
00:54:46It's ugly
00:54:50Welcome home house for arriving home. It wasn't our first choice. We didn't get a choice. We were just
00:54:57We were hand in the house. Yes, but you know what we got our house. I was excited
00:55:02So we got the boys next to us, don't we? Yeah
00:55:05Yeah, and then we've got Taz and Britt. It's a fun little part of the block. Yeah, it will call this the party end
00:55:12Can we make four work? We're gonna make four work. That's why we're here. We are going to make four work for our children
00:55:19Yeah
00:55:21That's so ugly
00:55:23It's got privacy though. There'll be plants and stuff. There'll be levels of vegetation
00:55:30I was like a real estate agent pulling someone through who had no interest in the property and I'm trying to sell Han on it
00:55:37Because it's enclosed, but we'll have
00:55:40Plants up here, and it will be like a little little hideaway
00:55:45Well, this is great sign Hany because imagine seeing our garden out here and look at that. It's beautiful
00:55:52Yeah, but that's not the vibe Bob. We'd spend weeks building in it dreaming about it refining it
00:55:59We're gunning for house one. You see straight to the treetops
00:56:06Yeah, I love it and the the hills and the rolling countryside and
00:56:11I hate it. I hate it. It was hard. It was like letting go of my child like not that I have a child, but it felt like that
00:56:22Do you know what I mean?
00:56:24Yeah
00:56:26Why are you looking at me like that?
00:56:28Nothing. I'm just like I'm just like no because I'm like it's not to me. It's not that big a deal. No for me. It was
00:56:34It's a new dawn. It's a new day
00:56:49It's a new life for me
00:56:51Yeah
00:56:53It's a new day
00:56:55It's a new life for me
00:56:57Oh
00:57:03Feeling good. Yeah, day two. We call it day one. We'll call yesterday day zero
00:57:09It's the first official day of the box
00:57:12And our team seem to be enjoying country life. I
00:57:17Swear to God I saw something run back there before that night. Just having the best time
00:57:22Oh
00:57:26Frickin kidding me
00:57:31I've got the loosest jeans on as well. What's wrong big Ben?
00:57:40Welcome to Dallas fit. I might sit like this. That's cool
00:57:52Foreman Dan is the man that comes around. I know who he is and he tells you yes or no
00:57:58It was great to meet Foreman Dan. I thought he was a bit taller
00:58:03Morning gang, how are we? Good morning. We're at the best place on the block the McCafe area
00:58:09Now you're going to be spending a lot of time here. I just want to introduce you to our two baristas Tina and Shayla
00:58:13Hello everyone
00:58:16Well, I think officially McCafe is ready. It's open. Let's go
00:58:22You do have a little pep in your step after your coffee. Oh, do you know what? It's just touched my lips and I'm like
00:58:29Yeah, we're feeling a bit good
00:58:31You should have just left the screen
00:58:34Bye, have a cup of java. Bye
00:58:38You guys already had a challenge
00:58:40Is that right? How did that go?
00:58:42Yeah, we placed four. So we're house two
00:58:45Okay, aren't they all the same?
00:58:47They're all the same, but facade and
00:58:49We had a lot to do last night
00:58:53We have our reaction and then we adapt and make a plan of how we can work it out
00:58:58So we went home and then we just were like right right in the bath and I got on Google
00:59:04And I was I need to research more about this home style because I'm like I'm sure there's a reason these houses exist
00:59:09You know there is appeal in them turns out. It's a box modular home
00:59:13But when you step inside the home you have the chance to make any kind of imprint
00:59:18What room? Are you doing a bedroom this week?
00:59:20We'll find out today. Well, my guess would be it's all the kitchen
00:59:25No, you need time to order the stone. Don't wind me up
00:59:28What are we building? What do we what room are we doing in week one? We walk in we see a big screen sitting in the middle of the house
00:59:35Here we go
00:59:37All right, it's the whole thing the whole schedule
00:59:47Weeks 1 till 12
00:59:49Insane we have the schedule main bathroom main on suite. We're there. Oh, oh my god
00:59:56All right, so the starting bathroom today. Oh
01:00:00No
01:00:03Wow
01:00:04It's the hardest one. It's all right. We can do it. Stoked with the bathroom. Are we? Yeah. Yeah, ease into it
01:00:12Ease into it
01:00:13Right I
01:00:15Rob first week bathroom. We've never built a bathroom before. We've never done any of these mate, so
01:00:24So our teams are kicking off week one in the western wing of their house in the main bathroom
01:00:30And each bathroom has an identical layout, so it'll be down to the finer details to set themselves apart
01:00:37Oh, good morning
01:00:39Good morning, Scotty
01:00:40Good morning. Hey Frankie
01:00:42You are hilarious
01:00:43Look at him. He's done up like he's in the Antarctic
01:00:46It is so cold and I'm getting really nervous
01:00:50It's not cold is it?
01:00:52Are you joking?
01:00:53Yeah, and another jumper
01:00:55And then the thermals underneath Scotty
01:00:57It's going to be 32 today
01:00:59It's hot
01:00:59He carries on a bit
01:01:01He carries on
01:01:02Right
01:01:02Yes
01:01:03Come back
01:01:04Yes
01:01:04250,000 bucks
01:01:06We are stoked
01:01:07You know what we do on this show? We just keep giving you stuff
01:01:09Yes
01:01:09250k
01:01:1040,000 power pass from Bunnings
01:01:13Oh, thank you, Scotty
01:01:14You're up to 290
01:01:15290
01:01:17Yeah, and then there's more to come
01:01:19Have you noticed that week one
01:01:21Yes
01:01:22Is $20,000
01:01:23We have, yeah
01:01:24This is a real estate game
01:01:25It's a construction game
01:01:26And it's a budget game
01:01:28Yeah
01:01:28If you can reduce that by two grand
01:01:31And put it into landscaping
01:01:32Yeah, that's good
01:01:33Every week
01:01:34We try to save where we can
01:01:35Yes
01:01:35Yeah
01:01:36And I guarantee you
01:01:38When you get to the bottom
01:01:39You're going to be short
01:01:41Yeah
01:01:41There's a lot
01:01:43There's a lot of money in there
01:01:44But I think we need some more
01:01:46Yeah
01:01:47Have you ever done a bathroom before?
01:01:49We have
01:01:49We've done a couple before
01:01:50Have you?
01:01:51Yes
01:01:51Right
01:01:52I think we're up to seven
01:01:53Yeah, maybe seven
01:01:54But never in a week
01:01:56Sure, we give you the ten grand now
01:01:57Yeah, please do
01:01:59We've never done it in a week
01:02:01So that'll be the big test
01:02:02We've renovated
01:02:03We've renovated three houses
01:02:05About 20 rooms
01:02:07In about six, seven years
01:02:10Yeah
01:02:11That's right
01:02:12As you know
01:02:15Every floor plan this year
01:02:17Is identical
01:02:18But we've raised the stakes even more
01:02:20Their bathrooms this week
01:02:22Have already been screeded
01:02:23And all the plumbing's been installed
01:02:25Which means they can't change
01:02:28The layout this week
01:02:29So it's going to be down
01:02:31To those finer details
01:02:32To stand out from the rest
01:02:33Day one's good
01:02:38We've got our builders here
01:02:39We'll talk through the skylight arrangement
01:02:42Thanks for coming out
01:02:43We just wanted to clarify
01:02:44Whether or not that brace
01:02:45Could be removed
01:02:45For our skylight
01:02:46Just this one here
01:02:47The strong bag
01:02:48Thanks for asking
01:02:49It's really good that you ask
01:02:50Before you cut stuff out
01:02:51The good news is that one can come out
01:02:52That's just been put there
01:02:53By the install chippies
01:02:54Just to get everything square
01:02:56Before they tie the rest of the building off
01:02:57So that one there
01:02:59You can take out
01:02:59Perfect mate
01:03:00There's never a silly question on the block
01:03:02And Ben and his team
01:03:03Are asking all good questions
01:03:05What's your plans?
01:03:06Are you doing like on an angle
01:03:07To start
01:03:08We're just trying to fan this
01:03:09We're going to go straight up
01:03:10It'll come 90 degrees off the pitch of the roof
01:03:14This is what the judges are going to look for
01:03:15So well done to them
01:03:17That's right
01:03:18Every team needs to be thinking of secret weapons
01:03:21They can bring this season
01:03:23To set themselves apart on auction day
01:03:25And at the other end of the block
01:03:27Our barber and hairdresser duo
01:03:29Are already thinking ahead
01:03:31And it's day one
01:03:33I had this crazy idea
01:03:37And when I heard about all the houses being the same
01:03:39I thought you know what Matt
01:03:40Call me crazy
01:03:42But I want to
01:03:42I want to
01:03:43You're crazy
01:03:44We've got this crazy idea
01:03:46We're from South Australia
01:03:47We love a wine
01:03:49Okay
01:03:50Do you know where I'm going with this?
01:03:52Hmm
01:03:52Maybe
01:03:53Talk to me
01:03:54Talk to me
01:03:56Dig a cellar
01:03:56You want to dig a cellar?
01:03:59I want to put a cellar in
01:04:00That would be a game changer for us
01:04:02Wouldn't even know it was there
01:04:03Until you walked
01:04:04And opened a door
01:04:05And went down
01:04:05The boys crazy idea
01:04:07Is to dig a hole here
01:04:09Right off their living area
01:04:11I thought it was crazy
01:04:13Which
01:04:13I was like
01:04:14They're not going to say
01:04:15You can dig a hole
01:04:17Next to the house
01:04:18And put in a wine cellar
01:04:20And I was like
01:04:20I love the idea
01:04:21We can only ask
01:04:22We can only ask
01:04:23We'll keep it hush hush
01:04:24And we can ask the question
01:04:25That's the seed we're planting right now
01:04:27Loving the sound of it
01:04:28I'm going to need a lot more information
01:04:32Do you know what I'm liking so far?
01:04:34It's not a no
01:04:35It's not a no
01:04:36No, no, no
01:04:36It's not a no
01:04:37So one thing we love on the block
01:04:38Is different ideas
01:04:39And we'll try and do everything
01:04:41To make it possible
01:04:42But I'm going to need a lot more information
01:04:45And it's going to have to happen pretty quick
01:04:46Because we're probably going to have to go to council
01:04:47Get approval from council
01:04:49And then go through
01:04:50How are we going to get airflow down there
01:04:52And things like that
01:04:52That is one hell of a gamble guys
01:04:54You know what
01:04:55It's a gamble that could win us
01:04:56The show though
01:04:57We are both very highly competitive people
01:05:00Both, you know
01:05:02Being professional athletes
01:05:03It is a sport
01:05:06It's given us that fire and that drive
01:05:10The way we approach things in life
01:05:12You know
01:05:12If I was bowling to Nana on Christmas Day
01:05:14She'd be getting one on the stumps for sure
01:05:16Okay Dan
01:05:18Thank you mate
01:05:19That's all we need
01:05:19And we're also turning the driveway
01:05:21Into a light aircraft runway
01:05:22So I'll just leave that with you
01:05:23If we spend money on the cellar
01:05:26And not win anything
01:05:29We're just going to have a mud hole
01:05:32How are you feeling about it?
01:05:35Excited
01:05:36Scared that we're not going to get the money
01:05:37Stoked
01:05:38Because it's such a great idea
01:05:39Haven't got the money
01:05:41If we get the money
01:05:43We win the block
01:05:43Haven't got the money
01:05:44That's how we feel
01:05:45Welcome back to day one
01:06:02Of building on the block
01:06:03Let's see how our rookies plan
01:06:05To step up and stand out
01:06:07As they head out
01:06:08For their very first consoles
01:06:10First in best dress
01:06:11Yeah you get it Gold Coast
01:06:14Good morning
01:06:16Welcome
01:06:17Come down the seats
01:06:18And Stu is kicking off the Rhys experience
01:06:20With the bathroom workshop
01:06:21What we're going to look at today
01:06:24Is how we get started
01:06:25The building process
01:06:26That you guys will go throughout the week
01:06:28And how we define our vision for the bathroom
01:06:30The Rhys workshop experience was great
01:06:33Because we had the incredible Stu
01:06:35And he went through all the different
01:06:37Colours and palettes
01:06:38And made it easy for us to understand
01:06:41How to put it together
01:06:42And see it through
01:06:43Not just in the bathroom
01:06:44But throughout the whole house
01:06:45Trust yourself
01:06:47Show the judges
01:06:48What each of you are made of
01:06:49And what a beautiful bathroom
01:06:51You can create
01:06:52And you're going to create that
01:06:53With some amazing team members of mine
01:06:56From Rhys
01:06:56Each of you will be working
01:06:58With a consultant this week
01:06:59Yeah we've got any questions
01:07:00When can we get started
01:07:02Yeah
01:07:02The mood boards we've sort of done
01:07:05Yeah
01:07:05Leading into the show
01:07:06Have been mid-century modern
01:07:08And lots of greens
01:07:09With nature incorporated where possible
01:07:12So
01:07:12Okay let's do that
01:07:13Go team work
01:07:15Do you think everyone's doing the same vanity
01:07:19No
01:07:19Okay
01:07:20And no one else has bronze
01:07:22Because I've pulled it away
01:07:24And no one else can have it
01:07:24What we want to do is
01:07:28Contemporary country
01:07:29We had a really strong direction and vision
01:07:32With our mood board
01:07:33So I can just go
01:07:33Pew pew pew pew pew pew
01:07:35And so with the bathroom
01:07:36We wanted to go a little bit richer
01:07:38Yep
01:07:39With the cabinetry
01:07:40And I had the legend Chantelle
01:07:42And she was able to basically
01:07:43Show me the direction to pew
01:07:45I'm a kid in the candy saw
01:07:47Except it's Rhys
01:07:48And I'm picking gunmetal
01:07:51Thanks for coming
01:07:52Bye
01:07:52Matt's gone with gunmetal tapware
01:07:55Curved bath and cabinet
01:07:56And a dark timber vanity
01:07:58But there's a problem
01:08:00Because when someone locks in an item
01:08:02No one else can have it
01:08:04And Alicia bagged that very vanity
01:08:06Just minutes ago
01:08:08Rojo this is taken
01:08:10That's taken
01:08:11So someone else is doing
01:08:12The exact same vanity
01:08:13It's colour
01:08:13I'm coming for you Gold Coast
01:08:18So who do you mean by Gold Coast?
01:08:21Gold Coast?
01:08:22Leash!
01:08:23She already picked my vanity
01:08:24Picked the colour
01:08:25Couldn't get what I wanted
01:08:26Have to watch her that one
01:08:28Thur leaf
01:08:29Thur leaf
01:08:30But
01:08:31Because we had the mood board
01:08:33We were able to
01:08:34You know
01:08:34Make the decisions
01:08:35Pretty quickly actually
01:08:37This vanity
01:08:38Is the colour that we wanted
01:08:39We have got the stone
01:08:41Top
01:08:42With the colours
01:08:43That were in the mood board
01:08:45That's exactly
01:08:46What we're looking for
01:08:46Exactly what's in my head
01:08:47Do it
01:08:48Nomad selected a plain
01:08:50Fronted dark timber vanity
01:08:52With a stone top
01:08:53I think I'll pay for that later
01:08:56He's been death eyeing me
01:08:59He's still death eyeing me
01:09:01Thank you Gold Coast
01:09:04I'm on to you
01:09:05Do you know what?
01:09:07Leash is probably my best mate
01:09:09In this competition
01:09:09At the moment
01:09:10I'm just razzing her up
01:09:11And there's one more consult
01:09:13Our teams have to head to today
01:09:15This will be their first attempt
01:09:17At setting the tone of their home
01:09:19I am racing to Beaumont tiles
01:09:24To pick my flooring
01:09:26Before Leash does
01:09:28It's cause she's already
01:09:30Got
01:09:31My
01:09:32Vanity
01:09:34I am at Beaumont tiles
01:09:41I had to get to Beaumont first
01:09:44And the reason I had to get to Beaumont first
01:09:46Is so that way I could be Alicia
01:09:48So she didn't get to steal my tiles that I wanted as well
01:09:52Nice to meet you Matt
01:09:53I'm Ingrid
01:09:54Hi Ingrid
01:09:55Today we need to make the best bathroom on the block
01:09:59I love how the edges are sort of a bit rustic and a bit stony
01:10:03Absolutely
01:10:04What do you reckon?
01:10:05I'd go with the gloss or with the matte?
01:10:07I think the matte
01:10:08Matt
01:10:09Matt and Matt
01:10:10Let's do it
01:10:11Robbie and Matt's main bathroom will showcase neutral tones, soft curves and enormous skylight
01:10:19I'm thinking I want to go maybe a greeny colour tile
01:10:24But then also a neutral colour tile
01:10:26Beaumont tiles was great
01:10:27Darren, I worked with Darren
01:10:28He helped me along the way
01:10:30And what we'll do is we'll pair it with a green tile
01:10:33Yeah
01:10:34I wanted it to blend well in with my hero piece vanity
01:10:38But then I also wanted to incorporate lots of greens
01:10:40Because I wanted to bring green into the house being in Dalesford
01:10:43How about this one?
01:10:44I love it
01:10:45Yeah that's beautiful
01:10:46House one are going to incorporate the green of Dalesford
01:10:50Through a green feature subway tile paired with neutral tones
01:10:55Modern organic is the theme through the house
01:10:57So I've gone with those like really warm travertine like natural tones throughout
01:11:01Nice
01:11:02I was like this is sort of what I'm going for
01:11:04But sort of trying to like mash everything together
01:11:07And then he helped me pick out some incredible tiles for me
01:11:10I can see it coming together
01:11:12Yeah great
01:11:13House three's modern organic bathroom includes a French pattern tile floor
01:11:18And soft tone subway tiles on the walls
01:11:21I want to head somewhere in this
01:11:24Oh beautiful
01:11:25Yeah
01:11:26The slate grey
01:11:27A nice European tile
01:11:28It is
01:11:29Beautiful yeah
01:11:30I pre-planned
01:11:31I'm all about pre-planning this week
01:11:33I didn't want to come in here and fumble and have to waste time
01:11:35So yeah I'm straight to the point today
01:11:38I think that works
01:11:39I think that works really nicely
01:11:40Yeah
01:11:41Floor and then walls
01:11:42Yep easy
01:11:43I'm going to keep it simple for this bathroom so
01:11:44Beautiful
01:11:45Alicia is keeping it simple with warm tones in their tiles to complement their dark tim of vanity
01:11:52But for Candice there's hesitation because it's decision by committee
01:11:57Yeah something like that one you just went past
01:11:59Like a travertine natural stone like that
01:12:02Like this
01:12:03Yep
01:12:04Something like that I think
01:12:05Yeah the natural look
01:12:07Is this what you expected?
01:12:09Your first day going to all these different consults were you expecting a bit of decision fatigue?
01:12:13Yeah
01:12:14Yeah
01:12:15I'd be lying if I said I didn't expect it
01:12:17I knew there'd be a lot of choices to make and it's literally keeping everyone happy
01:12:21We've got a lot of words of advice from the experts at Reece and Beaumont Tiles
01:12:26Personally
01:12:27Mm-hmm
01:12:28I really like the look of the same tile everywhere
01:12:30My partner hand
01:12:31The guys at the tiling shop said it was a good choice
01:12:34I don't know
01:12:35It's pretty polarising
01:12:36Yeah it's too busy
01:12:37It depends who you're trying to target as well remember
01:12:40Yeah
01:12:41You've got to think of where we are
01:12:42It might appeal to a lot of people
01:12:44It was hard
01:12:46In an ideal situation we'd be
01:12:49Going together
01:12:50Yeah
01:12:51Yeah
01:12:52I think that's what's hard
01:12:53In an ideal world we would be shopping together always
01:12:55Are you happy?
01:12:57Um
01:12:58No I'm like I think there's so many choices you could make that it's pretty hard to know what
01:13:06the right one is and you know tiling is art and it's subjective and some people like it
01:13:14and some people don't like it but we're going for saleability so
01:13:17So can has opted for floor to ceiling tiles as well as a green finger tile feature wall and a circular skyline
01:13:24I think once the judging's done I'll go whose advice am I really listening to?
01:13:29Um
01:13:30Who's in the shop with me?
01:13:31Um
01:13:32But yeah
01:13:33We'll roll the dice
01:13:35Good afternoon what is all this?
01:13:48I thought that I would take myself to Bunnings to buy my new friends and a nice place to hang out after we've had a hard day at work
01:13:57Oh this is comfy
01:14:04This actually is really comfy
01:14:05Right
01:14:06Yes
01:14:07And whose money did you use?
01:14:09Uh
01:14:10Yours
01:14:11My
01:14:12What's going on?
01:14:14Day one and you're making decisions with my money
01:14:17Well look you worked hard today it's hot
01:14:19It is
01:14:20This is a good idea
01:14:21Thank you Scotty and thanks for buying it for us
01:14:23No worries
01:14:24Thanks for telling me
01:14:26Alright I'm going to get on to the barbie
01:14:28Wonderful thank you
01:14:29Nice little family night for night one
01:14:31Great little family night
01:14:32Mmm
01:14:33Yeah Scotty tested out the new barbecue
01:14:35Cooked a few snags
01:14:37Bit of coleslaw
01:14:38Gang you've all had a hard day you've worked hard well done
01:14:41And why don't we have a seat and take a load off
01:14:44Very exciting news
01:14:46Scotty Cam just came and told us that we're getting more money
01:14:49Every Sunday Combank and I will pick a team who's doing the very best job at managing
01:14:55their budget
01:14:57And reward you
01:14:59With $10,000 cash
01:15:02Each week
01:15:03Every Sunday
01:15:04On top of the challenges
01:15:06On top of the room reveal
01:15:07On top of the challenges
01:15:08There's another $10,000 bucks up for grabs from Combank every Sunday
01:15:13Wow hold my sausage
01:15:15Stop it
01:15:16Hold my sausage
01:15:1710 grand
01:15:18An extra 10 grand
01:15:19Per week
01:15:20That is massive incentive that even if we don't finish a room or win or come out on top
01:15:25We could still win 10 grand which is huge
01:15:28If you got three tens and did the budgeting and you won you could take 50 grand home in a week which would
01:15:34There's Lance now
01:15:36That's massive
01:15:37Oh that's incredible
01:15:38We've got this
01:15:39So they've said we can win an extra $10,000 a week and Matt and I looked at each other like
01:15:43We've got this
01:15:44If we get this seller approved
01:15:46This Combank and the weekly wins there's $240k up for grabs
01:15:52So I work it out
01:15:53We need to probably win about $90k to $100k for us to pull off this gamble
01:15:58We can do it though
01:15:59And it is a gamble
01:16:00Like it is a huge gamble
01:16:01Because if it doesn't work
01:16:02Excuse my French
01:16:03Nos faisons l'amour
01:16:05It was like the chamber of farts in there last night dealing with him
01:16:20Can you stop shaming me about my farts on TV?
01:16:23You do the farts
01:16:24Okay
01:16:25And he rolls around like an alligator in a death roll
01:16:28I kept having to fight for the sheets
01:16:30Got whiplash
01:16:31Well mate you got 90 days to go so
01:16:33Good pick
01:16:35The boys have already pitched the idea of building a secret wine cellar
01:16:41But now they just need to submit some detailed plans
01:16:44I want to build a wine cellar in the ground
01:16:46And I'm still thinking it's not going to happen
01:16:48Because dropping in a shipping container into the ground
01:16:51Yeah a shipping container or a shipping container size
01:16:54Into the ground next to a slab that's already poured
01:16:57So Robbie's plan is to dig a hole at the back of the house
01:17:00And drop a shipping container into it
01:17:03Had more of a think about it and after looking at Bunnings I think the shipping container size would be perfect
01:17:09Yep
01:17:102400 by 6 metres
01:17:12Drawn it up
01:17:13Shipping container, yep
01:17:14Got the measurements there for it
01:17:15I think the only way it would work is
01:17:17Long ways
01:17:18Long ways
01:17:19Agree
01:17:20Thank you mate
01:17:21Thank you
01:17:22I'll get them off
01:17:23I think if we get this cellar in and across the line
01:17:27It would definitely win us the block
01:17:29Because they might have more skills and experience doing stuff
01:17:33But no one will have a wine room underground
01:17:36That's a whole nother room
01:17:38Winner, winner, chicken dinner
01:17:40Like dip on a chip, we need this
01:17:42Oh
01:17:43How are we?
01:17:44How good's that?
01:17:45No you wouldn't have thought it
01:17:46Hopefully this fits
01:17:48I can finally do stuff that I'm good at
01:17:49Which is all the pleb stuff
01:17:50Happy days
01:17:51Now that's some of the neatest installation I've ever seen
01:17:55How you going?
01:18:20Yeah good
01:18:21Making good progress
01:18:24putting in the ceiling darts and shooting up the roof yeah we can I'm on
01:18:31the tools loving every minute we don't squish our bats we cut them so that's
01:18:40got to come out and be done again if it looks neat it's done well
01:18:48if I can see holes like there it just means that's just down rated that to
01:18:53about a 2.5 because like it's only that thick at that point there so that's not
01:18:59doing what it's supposed to do so it needs to be a little bit better can I
01:19:04just ask something then can I get approval then to get up in the beams
01:19:08because I think pushing down no it all needs to be done from here yeah my goal
01:19:12today was to have everything roughed in and walls up so I can get my Tyler in
01:19:17tomorrow and start waterproofing good so are you almost at that point no we've
01:19:22had a few setbacks today mate okay so that that's all right look no it's a
01:19:2890% pass so now you understand how yeah how critical it's gonna look Mickey Mouse
01:19:33yeah so that's a learning curve but you just take that extra 20 minutes get it
01:19:37looking real neat yeah and then each week it will get easier yeah you're okay
01:19:43you're in a good spot I know you probably don't feel like you are but this is the
01:19:47first ceiling we've actually inspected yeah so I'm trying my best I I'm saying
01:19:53you're doing well you're doing well goal for today so yeah you're doing well it's
01:19:58like you're getting pulled and typed in each direction you've got to stay focused
01:20:01and be able to like be in tune with everything on top of everything so you
01:20:05can direct the guys what to do yeah but I think it's going well yeah yeah trying to
01:20:11keep the spirits high well that's not good has hit the fan and so what happened
01:20:23was Scotty's plumbers are in helping pipe up everything can and they turn the
01:20:29water on thinking that the what they had caps on they didn't have caps on and it
01:20:36wasn't good we've got a towel or something turn it off yeah the water is
01:20:40off yeah because it's such a big house the water lines just worried about that
01:20:44screed so this looks like a bit of water something's happened to with the pipe
01:20:48not connected the boys turn the water on we've had a leak and now we're worried
01:20:54about the water going seeping into the screed if there's too much moisture in
01:20:57the screed we won't be able to waterproof tomorrow because it needs to dry it has to
01:21:01be at a proper moisture content before we can waterproof if you don't
01:21:05waterproof Wednesday just puts too much pressure on the tiler on Thursday and
01:21:09Friday to finish and then the quality won't be there I think if there's
01:21:12pressure on the trades to fit off and then you're not going to paint in time so
01:21:15this could be disastrous here in house five
01:21:19excuse my french tomorrow night we're in trouble it's a baptism of fire for those
01:21:27rookies waterproof Wednesday waterproof Wednesday waterproof Wednesday we
01:21:31weren't waterproofing on Wednesday two hours like that and I reckon we're ready to go
01:21:35waterproofing we haven't got there yet and the teams can't waterproof until
01:21:40G-Mac completes his inspection I believe that's got to come out I don't know why
01:21:44it's not out already can't put tiles on a plasterboard wall with no screws in it
01:21:48gee daddy he terrifies me I get a little worried a little bit thunder in the
01:21:54distance
01:21:55just to be overwhelmed I still want to fail
01:22:01you
