The Ninja Swirl has taken over the internet, expanding the popular Ninja Creami family with a soft serve-style system. In this video, @paulAntill takes us through the Ninja Swirl from start to finish, including a Ninja Swirl unboxing and setup, Ninja Swirl recipes, and how to use the Ninja Swirl to serve up some ice cream. Considering this is a full Ninja Swirl review, you'll see the biggest reasons to buy and skip. Spoiler: the sound level definitely supports the latter.

00:00Today I've got my hands on the Ninja Swirl.
00:03It's been taking over the internet
00:04and now people want to know how it compares
00:06to the Ninja Creamy and if it's worth $350
00:09for another appliance that, let's face it,
00:11is going to take up a lot of valuable counter space.
00:13So today I'll be setting it up, checking it out,
00:16and finding out if you should buy or skip the Ninja Swirl.
00:19If there's one reason that people love Ninja appliances,
00:22it's that they're all relatively simple to unbox and set up.
00:25Just like the regular Creamy and other Ninja appliances
00:28we've tested on this channel,
00:29including the Ninja slushy,
00:31it takes just a few minutes to get all the parts out
00:33and ready to use.
00:35We have the base, the creamerizer paddle,
00:38yes, that's what it's actually called,
00:39the outer bowl with a lid,
00:42two 16 ounce swirl pints with their storage lids,
00:45and then finally the dispense lid
00:48with a swirl press attached.
00:51That said, right off the bat,
00:53I can tell that compared to the original Creamy,
00:55the swirl is even bigger and that's because
00:57the added soft serve station built right here into the base.
01:00This whole thing weighs about 20 pounds.
01:02So instead of lugging it all the way to the kitchen,
01:04I'll get everything set up here.
01:06Just like Ninja's other appliances,
01:08you're gonna really appreciate this little booklet.
01:10Ninja clearly put a lot of effort into creating
01:13a convenient manual to get started quickly,
01:16from general tips to some very delicious recipes.
01:19So especially for our first time,
01:20let's go ahead and try out one of Ninja's recipes.
01:22We're going to start off with the Easy Vanilla Soft Serve.
01:27I like how many of these recipes use ingredients
01:29that you probably already have on hand,
01:31from Greek yogurt, milk, et cetera.
01:34I know a lot of people are gonna use this
01:35to make protein style ice cream with protein powders,
01:38and for that, there's a Creamy Fit mode.
01:41The guide includes everything that you'll need to know
01:43about what ingredient swaps you may need to make
01:45for something non-dairy,
01:47and what all those different modes mean.
01:49We're gonna start off with the easiest one,
01:51the one ingredient frozen yogurt.
01:53I mean, it's gonna be really hard to mess this one up,
01:54but we've got our Greek yogurt,
01:57our Greek mixed dairy yogurt,
01:59and all we have to do is fill up our yogurt
02:02to the max fill line.
02:04So we can put the lid on and move on to our next recipe.
02:08We're going to start by, in a large bowl,
02:10whisk together our sugar and our pudding mix.
02:13We're gonna add our cup of whole milk,
02:19lactose-free for all my tummy trouble buddies.
02:22Heavy cream, one tablespoon of vanilla extract.
02:26Nearly there.
02:27We're gonna slowly pour this in.
02:30Careful not to spill.
02:36And now for the hard part,
02:37we gotta put these in the freezer and wait 24 hours.
02:40In the meantime, I'll throw these recipes on our socials,
02:43so make sure you're following us at Tom's Guide.
02:45Also, if you're new here, hey, thanks for watching,
02:48and if you like what you're seeing so far,
02:49consider hitting that subscribe button
02:51so you're always in the loop
02:52whenever we drop a new review.
02:54Otherwise, I'll see you in 24 hours.
03:04Okay, with everything frozen, it's time to get swirling.
03:07This is going to be a two-step process.
03:09First, I have to process the mixture
03:11so that it can be dispensed.
03:12I'll do that in the processor over here
03:14on the right of the machine.
03:15This is pretty similar to the Ninja Creamy.
03:17Basically, I'm gonna pull out the outer bowl.
03:19I'll pull back and hold the white paddle latch on the top,
03:22then flip over and insert the paddle
03:24on the bottom side of the processing lid.
03:27I'll put the frozen pipe in here, storage lid off,
03:30and install the processing lid by aligning these lines.
03:33Then, sliding the outer bowl onto the base
03:35with handle centered first.
03:36Twist handle to right to raise the platform.
03:39We're gonna hear that click.
03:40Perfect.
03:41Now, we're gonna pick our mode.
03:42We're going with soft serve, ice cream,
03:44and again, that guidance comes from our manual.
03:47And the countdown begins,
03:48and you can tell it's already pretty loud,
03:51but to tell you exactly how loud it is,
03:53we have our sound level meter.
03:5582, 83, so about 93 decibels.
04:04Not quiet, but let's see what everyone else.
04:07Yeah, a couple eyes here.
04:09We're just making ice cream.
04:10It's okay.
04:11It sounded like a computer fan was dying or something.
04:14Oh, basically.
04:20Oh, now it starts to quiet down.
04:21You can maybe hear me a little bit better now.
04:23I'm glad we're in a soundproof studio
04:24because everyone in our office,
04:26they do hate me right now,
04:28but it's all in the name of getting good ice cream.
04:30So far, this seems to be about as loud or even louder
04:33than the original Ninja Creamy.
04:35It's down to about 84 decibels,
04:38so still pretty loud even as it's finishing up its cycle now.
04:42So I will say it is also cool
04:43that we do get the nice countdown there
04:45telling us our progress and how much time is remaining.
04:51And like a lot of other people were commenting
04:52on our first TikTok video on this,
04:54it is pretty loud.
04:55So if you're in a smaller space,
04:56that could be a concern.
04:57And take it from me,
04:58someone who even gets a little subconscious
05:01about using just a regular blender,
05:02this thing is insanely loud.
05:05Now with that done, I'm pressing the release button
05:07on the left of the bowl here
05:08and twisting it to take it out.
05:09And looking at its texture,
05:10it does appear to be creamier
05:11than the original Ninja Creamy,
05:13which often needed another re-spin or two
05:15to get that soft texture that we have here.
05:17At this point, you could just go to town
05:18and enjoy your treat straight from the pint,
05:20but we're gonna get it ready for swirling.
05:22Now I'm aligning the blue pint tab
05:24with the blue tab on the dispense area
05:26and twisting clockwise until I hear that click sound.
05:28And surprise, there's also a drip tray here
05:31to pull from the bottom.
05:32Then you twist the white part here clockwise
05:34until it's fully extended.
05:37To dispense, I'm grabbing a cone
05:39and I'm just gonna pull the handle forward.
05:42It'll take a few seconds,
05:43and you can control the speed by how far you pull.
05:46You'll notice a blue disc inside,
05:47which is pushing the ice cream forward towards the nozzle.
05:50And if you're done, you even have a retract button
05:52that'll slurp up that excess ice cream
05:54back into the container so it doesn't go to waste.
05:56This is good,
05:57but I don't think we'll run into that today.
05:59So let's get serving and see what everyone else thinks.
06:03All right, anyone want ice cream?
06:05Should we let it in for it first?
06:06You gotta scream for it.
06:10I don't like that sound.
06:11I don't like that sound, it's still going.
06:12It's really good.
06:13Yeah.
06:14It's good, it's,
06:16the flavor's really good, but it's like,
06:17the consistency is.
06:18Would you put this in your apartment?
06:20No.
06:20I couldn't fit that in my apartment.
06:21Whatever the general happy feeling of ice cream is,
06:25the sound that that makes is the opposite.
06:27All right, that was a success.
06:29We're gonna do the same thing,
06:30but it's really good.
06:31It's really good.
06:32Yeah.
06:33It's really good, it's good.
06:34The flavor's really good, but it's like,
06:35the consistency is.
06:36Yeah.
06:37Would you put this in your apartment?
06:38No.
06:39I couldn't fit that in my apartment.
06:40We're gonna do the same thing all over again
06:42with our one ingredient, frozen yogurt.
06:44But there's a big problem that I'm running into here,
06:46and it's that the Ninja Swirl can't actually produce
06:48soft serve to feed a larger crowd.
06:51Like I was thinking, this would be really fun
06:52for a smaller party, but realistically,
06:54we only got a few servings from both flavors
06:57because of the smaller pint size.
06:59One solution would be to stock up on additional pints.
07:01You can get a two pack from Ninja for $34.99,
07:04but you've already spent $350 on this.
07:07Not to mention, these things will start
07:09to crowd your freezer space really quickly.
07:11So if you're hoping to become
07:12the resident ice cream social host,
07:14this, unfortunately, isn't the answer.
07:17Now that we're done with ice cream,
07:18I just gotta make sure I clean all these parts properly
07:20so that they're ready for next time.
07:22That includes the paddle latch,
07:23the parts of the swirl cups,
07:24including the nozzle and the swirl press lid.
07:27All these parts, luckily, are BPA free
07:29and safe to throw on the top rack of your dishwasher,
07:31which I would 100% do if I were using this regularly.
07:35Otherwise, hand washing only takes a few minutes.
07:37You may also wanna wipe down the drip tray
07:39and the controls in case anything got sticky.
07:44Compared to getting the standard Ninja Creamy for $199,
07:47is the Ninja Swirl worth the extra $150?
07:50Well, if you regularly make soft serve,
07:52the improved consistency and the dispenser
07:54might be worth the extra cash.
07:56Otherwise, you probably wanna stick
07:58to your regular ice cream shop.
08:00You can save the cash and just get the Creamy.
08:02The swirl is a fun way to make a whole range
08:05of delicious ice cream treats at home
08:07and can be a good investment.
08:08Just make sure you have enough counter space for it.
08:11Do you already have a Ninja Creamy
08:12and are you considering an upgrade
08:14or did this video confirm that you can just save your money
08:16when it comes to the Ninja Swirl?
08:18Let me know what you think
08:19and stay subscribed for more cool tech.
08:21You can follow me to see what else I'm reviewing.
08:23Until the next one, I'll catch you later.
08:30Bye bye.
