00:00Trump Withdraws the United States from UNESCO
00:08The United States has once again announced its withdrawal from UNESCO,
00:13the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization.
00:17The country's State Department made this announcement on Tuesday,
00:21labeling the organization as biased against Israel and divisive.
00:26Dear viewers, if you like this news, please like it and share your comments
00:29in the comment box. Ministry spokesperson Tammy Bruce said,
00:34Currently, U.S. participation in UNESCO is no longer consistent with our national interests.
00:40She accused the organization of pursuing a globalist and ideological agenda
00:44and becoming overly dependent on the U.N.'s sustainable development goals.
00:49Bruce also expressed resentment over the organization's decision to recognize
00:53Palestine as a state and grant it membership. In her words,
00:57this is contrary to U.S. policy and has spread an anti-Israel message within UNESCO.
01:04This decision by the United States was largely expected.
01:07President Donald Trump decided to withdraw the U.S. from UNESCO in 2017.
01:13Later, the country regained its membership during President Joe Biden's tenure.
01:18However, this decision is not new. In 1983,
01:21President Ronald Reagan first withdrew the U.S. from the organization,
01:26calling UNESCO pro-Soviet and corrupt. Later, during George W. Bush's administration,
01:32the United States rejoined UNESCO. UNESCO's contribution to preserving world heritage
01:37is highly acclaimed globally. The organization has been working to preserve many important sites,
01:43including Australia's Great Barrier Reef, Africa's Serengeti,
01:47the Acropolis of Athens, and the Pyramids of Egypt. However, according to the United States,
01:54behind these works, the organization has taken political bias and controversial positions
01:59which are no longer acceptable to them.
