Massive protests broke out in Ukraine's Kharkiv and other cities against President Zelenskyy’s new anti-corruption law, bill 12414. Citizens fear it weakens transparency. Amid slogans and placards, Zelenskyy promised a new plan to tackle corruption but gave no specifics. It's Ukraine's largest protest wave since the war began.

00:15It's the people of Ukraine!
00:30It will considerably worsen our relations with the European Union.
00:56We will never be able to become members
00:59because we are heading to where North Korea is.
01:02We have done this. We have been there.
01:05There was Maidan won. There will be another Maidan.
01:09I have learnt from the French media about the protests
01:12and about the law that had been passed two or three days ago,
01:16if I am not wrong.
01:18I support free, independent Ukraine.
01:22Ukraine without corruption.
01:25This does not present a good image of Ukraine abroad.
01:29Various French media say there is still much corruption in Ukraine,
01:33and if this law stays and is not revoked,
01:36there is a risk that Ukraine will be regarded as a corrupt country
01:40that will never meet the necessary requirements
01:42to enter the European Union.
01:52Putin! Putin! Putin! Putin! Putin! Putin!
02:05Today we can show the society, the government and our partners abroad
02:11that we do not support such laws.
02:15We need to fight corruption.
02:18We need our government to listen to us.
02:21They should serve the people.
02:25I think it is important for people to come out to the streets
02:29to express this.

03:23I will propose to the Vorkovna Rada of Ukraine
03:27a bill that will be a response that will provide strength to the law enforcement system.
03:33And there will be no Russian influence or interference in the activities of law enforcement agencies.
03:40And very importantly, all standards for the independence of anti-corruption institutions will be in place.
03:48Of course, everyone has heard what people are saying these days,
03:52what people are saying on social media to each other, on the streets.
03:58It's not all in vain.
04:00We have analysed all the concerns,
04:03all the aspects of what should be changed and what should be enforced.
04:07And the most important thing remains
04:11not to lose the unity of the country,
04:13to end this war,
04:15to stop this Russian evil and to provide Ukraine with a fair peace,
04:22and exactly as we all see it,
04:25as a full-fledged part of Europe.
04:29We will do it.
