China has imposed exit bans on two U.S. citizens, according to a report by CBS News. Beijing confirmed travel restrictions on a U.S. government employee while also disclosing that a Wells Fargo banker is under an exit ban. A U.S. Patent and Trademark Office employee was blocked from leaving China while traveling in a personal capacity, according to the State Department, which said it is working with Chinese officials to resolve the matter. China declined to comment on the U.S. Commerce employee's case, stating only that it manages entry and exit matters in accordance with its laws. The incidents come amid heightened scrutiny of U.S. firms in China and just weeks before Trump’s August 12 trade deal deadline.
