00:00Let's bring you more on that breaking news that two people have died and two others have been seriously injured in a shooting in Northern Ireland.
00:07The incident happened in a place called Maguire's Bridge in County Fermanagh.
00:14Let's speak to our reporter Kevin Sharkey, who is in our Belfast newsroom.
00:19Kevin, tell us more about what's happened today.
00:21Well, this is clearly a developing story.
00:25We're in the early stages of getting information through to the newsroom from the scene.
00:30What we do know is that two people are dead and two others are injured.
00:36We know from the Northern Ireland ambulance service that one person, a patient, was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital here in Belfast
00:43and another was taken to a hospital in Eskillon, which is not far from Maguire's Bridge.
00:48Now, this appears to have happened in a rural setting outside the village of Maguire's Bridge.
00:56A local road, the Dromir Road, has been closed to traffic.
01:01There is an ongoing police operation there at the moment, but the police are emphasising that there's no ongoing risk to the public.
01:10So that's an important bit of information.
01:12There is no ongoing risk to the public at this point in time, but there is an ongoing police operation at the scene.
01:21And local politicians are already beginning to comment on this tragedy, which is unfolding in terms of information coming through.
01:31And they're urging the public not to speculate on what may have happened and to allow the police to continue with their own investigations,
01:39which are, as I say, at a very early stage at the moment.
01:42And, Kevin, what's the impact on the area at the moment?
01:45You say it's a rural part of the country.
01:49It is. Maguire's Bridge is close to the border with the Republic of Ireland.
01:54And the road, which is now at the centre of the police investigation, Dromir Road, is outside Maguire's Bridge, a rural setting.
02:05And this kind of tragedy will rock any community, and particularly close-knit rural communities,
02:13such as the community in the hinterland around Maguire's Bridge.
02:18People are still only beginning to hear details of the tragedy.
02:22But as the police investigation and other inquiries continue, more information will begin to emerge in the fullness of time,
02:30certainly in the coming hours.
02:32But at the moment, the focus is on the police investigation and the tragedy,
02:37which has resulted in two people being dead and two others being injured, as I say.
02:43The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service has already told us that they took one patient to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast
02:50and another to a hospital in Inneskenland.
02:53Other than that, there are very few details at the moment, and the police investigation is already getting underway.
