00:00Gavin Newsom is going to let the Menendez brothers out.
00:02They are going to be free men as early as next month.
00:07He has not said that, but he's as much as said that.
00:10And let me explain.
00:12Gavin Newsom, our governor, California, has a podcast,
00:17which is kind of weird in itself.
00:20And he had Ryan Murphy on his podcast.
00:25Ryan Murphy, who is a fabulous producer, best in the business.
00:32He is so good.
00:34You know, he did Monsters, which is about the Menendez brothers.
00:36But it's a fantasy about the Menendez brothers.
00:39You know, coming up with, here's what the scenario could have been like,
00:42or here's what it could have been like.
00:44Ryan Murphy got involved this year.
00:47This case has been going on for 35 years.
00:50So, and there have been a lot of experts on this.
00:54And Gavin Newsom is going to ultimately make the decision
00:58on whether the Menendez brothers go free or not.
01:01And, you know, the parole board is going to hear the case next month.
01:05And then it goes to Gavin Newsom.
01:07And either he's going to say, yes, they're free, or no, they're not.
01:10It's his decision.
01:12He has Ryan Murphy on this podcast.
01:16And is talking to Ryan Murphy about, you know, how do you feel about this?
01:20And Ryan Murphy is saying, yeah, you know, at first I doubted it.
01:25In the writer's room, everybody else wanted him to go free.
01:28And then I did the show, and I think they should go free.
01:32And furthermore, I sent an advance copy to Kim Kardashian.
01:37And she watched it, and she was obsessed with it.
01:39And she said they should go free.
01:43And so Gavin Newsom is asking Ryan Murphy about his opinions about this case when he's going
01:51to make a decision.
01:53And you just got to look.
01:55Before I tell you why I'm saying that he is going to release the Menendez brothers,
01:59here's a little bit of what he says.
02:01We're just a few weeks away, August 21st and 2nd, I think, where the parole board is going
02:09to make a decision and make a recommendation.
02:11To you.
02:11It lands on my desk.
02:12Right.
02:13Mr. Murphy.
02:14That's heavy stuff.
02:15Heavy stuff.
02:16I was astonished at how I went into something with such a predetermined point of view and
02:21came out of it, at the end of it, thinking, you know, where I am today is, I really do
02:27think they should be released.
02:29I do think they should be paroled.
02:31And I did not think that when I started.
02:33So, why is Gavin Newsom chit-chatting with Ryan Murphy about why the Menendez brothers should
02:42be released?
02:42First, I think, and I feel pretty confident on this, Gavin Newsom is looking for cover.
02:49Gavin Newsom knows that this is like, it's a 50-50 split in America.
02:55Half the people think they should be released, half think they should rot in prison.
03:00And Ryan Murphy, you know, produced a show that made people aware of this case who didn't
03:07know about it before.
03:07So, his opinion for them counts.
03:10Gavin Newsom is going to run for president, and he wants to soften the blowback he's going
03:17to get when he releases them.
03:19So, therefore, he talks, he puts his friend Ryan Murphy on, talks about Kim Kardashian and
03:25Ryan Murphy supporting the release.
03:28He's doing it for cover.
03:30If that's the case, what a wild political miscalculation by Gavin Newsom, who I think is a very savvy
03:35politician, if he's trying to use Ryan Murphy as cover, Ryan Murphy is the echo chamber
03:41of the voice to get the Menendez brothers free.
03:44And if he's putting him on his podcast and he's trying to curry favor with someone who
03:48is undecided on this issue, potentially, I think it's going to backfire.
03:51No, no.
03:52It's only going to shout into the echo chamber.
03:54Nobody's undecided.
03:55So, then what is he doing?
03:56What he's doing is people who watched Monsters were educated about the Menendez brothers through
04:03Ryan Murphy.
04:04Without question.
04:05And they're thinking, well, there are different scenarios.
04:07Which should I believe?
04:08And then the producer is the guy who's saying, hey, release them.
04:13And then everybody who's watching is saying, oh, well, that's the conclusion.
04:18The producer who's part of the lefty Hollywood establishment.
04:21Nobody thinks of him.
04:22Everyone thinks of Ryan Murphy that way.
04:23Ryan Murphy is the guy who created the lead.
04:25Ryan Murphy is the guy who creates all of these lurid Hollywood tales.
04:29They lost an election because they were viewed as being soft on crime.
04:32You're going to let two murderers out?
04:34He's going to let them out.
04:35They don't kill him.
04:37I truly believe that will come back to haunt him when he runs in 2028.
04:41He is going to.
04:42You know what?
04:43What a disastrous decision.
04:44Can I just say one other thing?
04:44How do you say you're tough on crime when you just let two guys who blew their parents
04:48hate?
04:48Like, come on.
04:49That's why he's looking for cover.
04:51But this is not good cover.
04:53This is Ryan Murphy.
04:54Well, listen, it may be a bad political calculation, but that he's made it clear.
04:59Look, all the other agree with you.
05:00I think he's going to do it.
05:01He's going to release him.
05:02I mean, he's the one move.
05:03It's a bad.
05:05Why would Gavin Newsom commit political suicide by releasing?
05:07What's the upside of releasing the Menendez brothers for Gavin Newsom's ambition to become
05:12president of the United States?
05:13I'm not.
05:13It's terrible.
05:14It's counterproductive for him.
05:15You may or may not be right on that.
05:17I am.
05:18I will bet you money he's going to release them.
05:21Francisco, Gavin Newsom is handling this in the best way possible.
05:25We have a good perspective right now.
05:27The series depicts a very complex and toxic relationship between kids and parents, and
05:32it makes me very nervous.
05:34Brothers killing their parents at age 18, that requires peeling so much onion.
05:39And the world has to unpack this really quickly.
05:42And I think we can learn a lot about toxic relationships between parents and kids.
05:46Everyone deserves a second chance, especially if you have committed a crime as a young adult
05:51or a kid.
