Interview with Bill Lawrence
Transcript
00:00What was one of the weirder requests or questions you had to ask when it came to pulling off these like big action packed moments in this show?
00:08All right. On this particular show, it's going to sound very specific.
00:13And so you'll have to reach. But so it's interesting for Carl.
00:17He's an icon in Florida. OK, the huge American bestselling novelist.
00:22But he was also a reporter for the Miami Herald. He's an environmental crusader.
00:25And he's just a huge figure there. And he wouldn't really let us do it unless we shot in Florida for Florida.
00:31The hardest thing is the stuff, all the transitions in the show and the animals and the nature.
00:35That's not fake. They were just roaming around set, disrupting production.
00:39And so the hardest thing about doing all this stuff is Carl's environmentalist and everything in the keys is set up to still protect nature.
00:47And so it's like, hey, we want to blow up a house.
00:49And they're like, well, we'll let you do it in this 60 minutes that the turtle eggs, you know, have not been preserved yet.
00:58And that the key deer that really would wander around on set aren't there.
01:03Like even in the show, there's a thing if you watch it that there's streetlights are red.
01:07That's real. It's real because it's during the hatching season.
01:10And if the streetlights are white, the turtles think it's the moon and they walk in towards the roads and get smushed on the roads.
01:16So we literally would go, hey, we want to do a big action scene.
01:19And they would go, you have you can only do it between like six and six twenty on Thursday.
01:24It was bananas. And these animals were everywhere.
01:27I can't tell you. There's one scene is Easter egg.
01:28I haven't told anybody, I don't think.
01:30But Alex Moffitt from SNL was acting in one scene.
01:34And, you know, we wanted to because Carl support all these animals.
01:36And one of the key deer, which are tiny little deer that can drink saltwater and are everywhere there.
01:42They look like dogs just roamed out and started eating the brush next to him.
01:46And he goes, get out of here. I'm talking.
01:48And the thing looked at him and just walked away.
01:49And when people watch that in the show, they're like, oh, how did you get that deer to do that?
01:53I'm like, we didn't. It just it was they're just everywhere.
01:56So anyways, it was really challenging because of how beautiful it is.
