The Young And The Restless – Episode 7-16-2025
Transcript
00:00Oh, pick up.
00:14I knew about this before the rest of us, right?
00:16That's why you're so upset.
00:17Yes.
00:19Yes.
00:20Ken and I found Chance immediately to tell him.
00:23I mean, he's the only authority we have.
00:26Well, I guess we know why you were so eager to find your lawyer.
00:30Okay.
00:30Before another word is said, I need to speak to my client in private.
00:34Well, thank you for your support, Amanda, but I have nothing to hide.
00:36I already told Chance everything that happened.
00:38Okay, then why don't you tell us?
00:40Because I want to hear how this happened and who's responsible.
00:44Well, that's what I'm going to try to figure out.
00:46But I have to warn you, just like everything else about this trip,
00:49it's going to be a rather unorthodox investigation.
01:30You are a long way from your jurisdiction, Chance.
01:36So on whose authority are you conducting this investigation?
01:39Now, I realize I don't have any power here.
01:41The GCPD has no power here.
01:43That's true.
01:43But Chance's skills are a huge asset.
01:46And I think we'd all agree that he's one of the most trustworthy guys around.
01:49Well, thank you for that vote of confidence.
01:52Look, this is a tricky situation.
01:54I know that.
01:55But I'm going to do whatever I can to get to the bottom of this.
01:58I promise you.
01:58Very lucky that you're here, Chance.
02:01Especially since we can't get a hold of the authorities in Nice.
02:04Now, what I can do is a preliminary, unofficial investigation
02:07while the events from this evening are still fresh on everyone's mind.
02:10Does anybody else find it odd that Cain already anticipated something like this happening
02:16and found the need to have you here in the first place?
02:18Yeah.
02:19Well, given the circumstances, I'm glad I followed my gun.
02:21Cain here has already sent some of his staff members down the mountain
02:25to alert local authorities that there has, in fact, been a murder.
02:28Well, that could take a minute, right?
02:30Yes.
02:31Now, given how treacherous the mountain is,
02:33yes, it could take several hours, maybe even longer.
02:36Wait, you're calling this a murder?
02:39I'm afraid that is what we're looking at here.
02:41Yeah.
02:42Now, I'd like to start this by talking to each one of you, individually,
02:46about your activities over the last hour or so.
02:49You're going to interrogate us?
02:50We're just going to talk.
02:52And it's very possible you may have seen or heard something that could be helpful.
02:56So, basically, what you're saying, Chance, is we're all suspects.
03:11Look, just to be clear, I have no reason to suspect that any of you
03:15are responsible for Damien's death.
03:17Yeah, but we're isolated here, so it had to be someone at this chateau, right?
03:21Like some stranger climbed the treacherous mountain,
03:24targeted Damien, and then magically disappeared.
03:27And, as Devon mentioned earlier,
03:29you anticipated something criminal was going to go down,
03:32which is why you made sure Chance was here.
03:35Did you have this planned all along?
03:38Lily.
03:38Kane, don't say another word.
03:40It's real convenient that you also have your lawyer with you.
03:43I wish you could represent all of us.
03:46I guess the invitation should have said,
03:47BYOL, bring your own lawyer.
03:50Okay, well, Michael Baldwin is here.
03:51Perhaps he can be of some assistance to you, should you need it.
03:54Like I said, an orthodox situation, okay?
03:57Like, all murders.
03:58Yes. Now, I understand the limitations that everyone is under,
04:02so if you don't want to answer my questions,
04:04that's certainly your prerogative.
04:05Oh, but if we refuse to talk, that's going to make us look guilty, right?
04:09What about the guests who aren't in this train car right now?
04:11I doubt they even know what happened yet.
04:13I will talk to them later.
04:14Now, as for all of you, you were awake,
04:17you were around the maze before and soon after the time of the murder.
04:19Oh, my God.
04:21There's only one person here with real motive for murder.
04:24Cain, as you return...
04:25No, Lily, I...
04:25Look, no.
04:26Lily, I get why you're determined to think worse than me.
04:29I accept that.
04:31What motive are you talking about?
04:34Damien and Lily made it clear to me tonight
04:35that they're romantically involved.
04:37Did they really?
04:38And I had recently expressed my feelings for her.
04:41So she justifiably assumes that I have a motive for murder.
04:45Okay, I get it.
04:46You're all looking at me, but there's something you're not considering,
04:48which is Damien wasn't the intended victim.
04:50I was.
04:51Oh, my God.
04:52Do you really expect us to believe that?
04:55Damien and I were both drugged.
04:57If you were both drugged,
04:58how does that make you the killer's intended target?
05:01I had a private bottle of bourbon stashed behind the bar in the garden.
05:04We both drank from it.
05:05Okay.
05:06Well, you're not drugged now.
05:08So how is Damien gone?
05:09And you're fine.
05:10The adrenaline kicked in.
05:12Yeah, well, I guess killing a man will do that to you.
05:14I didn't kill him, Lily.
05:15So wait, if it's your private stash of bourbon,
05:17how did Damien get a hold of it?
05:21I gave it to him.
05:22Okay, let me just make sure I'm getting this straight.
05:26You offered the man,
05:28who you just found out was your romantic rival,
05:31a drink from your own personal bottle,
05:33essentially drugging him yourself.
05:35Wait, so is that how Damien died?
05:38He drank more of the drugged alcohol than Cain?
05:41Well, according to Cain, Damien was stabbed.
05:43I can corroborate that.
05:47I saw Damien go down with the knife in his back.
05:49And unfortunately, this knife, or dagger, is now missing.
05:54So the murder weapon with all the fingerprints on it that we need is gone?
05:57Yep.
05:58That's great.
05:59Cain, I think it's time we took a look at this collection you mentioned earlier.
06:02Oh, my God.
06:21Damien showed me that box.
06:23So, wait, he was drugged with your alcohol and killed with your knife.
06:29May I suggest that Chance handle the investigation, please?
06:32We don't have to answer his questions.
06:34We already know who the killer is.
06:36It's okay.
06:37No, this is just about me, Devon.
06:39This is also about Amy.
06:41Like, how do we tell Amy?
06:43How do we tell Nate?
06:45Oh, my God.
06:45He just found out he has a brother, and now his brother is gone.
06:48It's horrible for everybody.
06:51Oh, my God.
06:51We have to hit justice for Damien.
06:53We have to make sure that his killer is punished.
06:55We will.
06:55We will make sure of that.
06:57Okay?
06:58Right?
06:59Look, we all want answers.
07:01I'm hoping all of you will cooperate.
07:05What do you need from us?
07:07Well, why doesn't everyone go back to their sleeping cars,
07:10and I'll come talk to each one of you one at a time?
07:12So, I'm sure you'll assume that we have something to hide if we refuse to talk to you?
07:20As the only other witness, I'd like to start with you.
07:24Listen, before we all leave, I think there's a question that we should all get answered.
07:29What's that?
07:31Are the rest of us in danger?
07:33No, I understand everyone has probably rattled right now.
07:51I mean, what has happened here tonight is upsetting, to say the least.
07:57And I'm sorry.
07:57But based on the evidence that I've seen so far, this seems like a calculated attack targeting a single victim.
08:03So, if that holds true, I think we should all be safe for the night.
08:07Unless we determine that my client was the intended target, then he is very much still in danger.
08:13You are unbelievable.
08:15Excuse me?
08:16Damien's body isn't even cold, and you're already planning Kane's defense.
08:20What is wrong with that?
08:21You of all people should know that everyone is entitled to a rigorous defense.
08:25Hey, look, ladies, please.
08:26All right, there's enough going on right now.
08:29Now, my advice to everyone is to stay cautious.
08:31It's not going to hurt to keep a sharp eye.
08:33We should also alert the rest of the crew.
08:35Yeah, I'm going to go check on Sharon and my parents.
08:49All right, fellas.
08:53Tell me what happened.
08:56Kane already told you.
08:58Tell me his perspective.
08:59I want to hear yours.
09:04All right, well, after I ran into Nick and Sharon, I was walking around the maze.
09:11I got lost.
09:13Then I ran into Diane and Jack.
09:17They were lost, too.
09:19They were pretty frustrated.
09:20Jack and Diane, they were in the maze, too?
09:22Mm-hmm.
09:24We were all lost.
09:27Then we decided to go our separate ways.
09:29So you split up from the Abbott's?
09:32Yeah.
09:34Tried to find the bar on your own, yeah?
09:37You know, I haven't seen them since, I'm just saying.
09:43I'm sure that they went back to the room.
09:45I'm sure.
09:47They seemed really, really fed up with the whole thing.
09:50What about you?
09:52Kept looking for the bar?
09:53There was something different about the maze tonight.
10:01What does that mean?
10:04What it means is we all thought we figured out the paths.
10:10They were all very familiar to us.
10:12But tonight, it was like somebody went in there and they rearranged everything to throw us off, to disorient us.
10:24Good, you're awake.
10:44Nick, um, I'm sorry.
10:47Did you come back to get me?
10:49Because I just came back to grab my earrings and then I realized I was tired.
10:53No, no, no.
10:54I went by my parents' place, their sleeping car, to see if they were there, but they're not.
10:58They must be out on a walk or something.
11:00But I have to find them.
11:01Wait, wait.
11:02Wait a minute.
11:03Take a breath.
11:04Tell me what happened.
11:06There's been a murder.
11:08What?
11:10I'm sorry to just blurt it out like that.
11:12I know it's the last thing you expected to hear.
11:14No, no, that's okay.
11:17I'm almost afraid to ask who.
11:21Sting it.
11:21He was stabbed in the back with an antique dagger from Cain's knife collection.
11:26Oh my God.
11:28That poor man.
11:30It's unbelievable.
11:32I, I hadn't really spent that much time with him, but from what I could tell, he seemed so kind and happy to be reunited with his family again.
11:43Do they know who did it?
11:44Not yet.
11:45We can't get word of the authorities.
11:47At least, I don't know.
11:50So, nothing's being done?
11:53Cain sent a couple of his groundskeepers down the mountain.
11:57I mean, who knows how long that's going to take or if they're able to bring help back.
12:01But until then, Chance has launched an unofficial investigation.
12:05Chance?
12:05Is that even legal?
12:07Nobody knows, but it doesn't matter.
12:09It's being done because something has to happen, whether it's legal or not.
12:14We have to get rid of every drop and replenish the entire stock of liquor on the property just in, just in case.
12:35I don't think that would be necessary.
12:37You and Damien were drinking from your own private bottle, and the rest of us have been making cocktails since the two of you left.
12:42So, we would be feeling the effects right now if all of the liquor was drugged.
12:49Yeah, you're probably right.
12:50I'm just, uh, I guess I'm just being paranoid.
12:54Who wouldn't be under the circumstances?
12:58It's just, uh...
13:00You know, it just happened so, so quickly, you know?
13:03One minute, I'm walking with Damien, and then, you know, we're talking about, you know, about life and even death, and then, you know, just like that, he's gone.
13:11He's just...
13:13He's just gone.
13:16Kane, I need you to be honest with me.
13:20You know that everything that you say is protected under attorney-client confidentiality, right?
13:25Are you questioning if I killed Damien?
13:28I need to know, did you have anything to do with this murder?
13:39I came to the statue garden, and that's when I saw Damien slumped over in Kane's arms with a knife sticking out of his back.
13:51Kane saw me, he called me over, and he lowered Damien onto the ground.
13:58Did either of you touch the weapon?
14:00No, absolutely not.
14:03No.
14:05Kane checked for Damien's pulse, and then he told me he was dead.
14:09I wanted to perform CPR.
14:15I wanted to save him.
14:17Did you see anybody else?
14:18Anything suspicious?
14:22No.
14:22I'm going to ask you this next question, and I want you to think very carefully before you answer it.
14:33Did you witness anything that might indicate that Kane stabbed Damien?
14:39You know, here I am, fearing for my life after a man died in my arms, and you think I killed him?
14:47That is not my position.
14:49In fact, I am not taking any position.
14:51I am simply being your attorney, and it is my job to anticipate what other people will suspect.
14:57What chance we'll deduce in his investigation.
14:59Well, I guarantee you he's not going to find any evidence against me.
15:02I mean, why would I want to kill Damien?
15:03Well, Lily opened the door to that question, and I saw your face when you found out they were officially a couple.
15:09You were crushed.
15:10Yeah, of course I was, but it doesn't mean I wanted to kill the man.
15:12Well, you put on a good show of accepting their newfound relationship.
15:16It wasn't a show.
15:17And then you asked to be alone with Damien.
15:20Shortly after that, he's dead.
15:22I didn't put a knife in his back.
15:24Well, it would be negligent of me not to ask, because the facts are incriminating.
15:29What, that I'm a cold-blooded killer?
15:31That's what it looks like.
15:32Okay, you were the only one with him when he died, and Phyllis will testify to him.
15:36Okay, yeah, but the killer wasn't going to just jump out of whatever hiding place they were in and confess to the murderer.
15:40And then there is the murder weapon, your dagger, part of your collection of rare antique knives.
15:47Yeah, right, they were on display, and the case wasn't locked.
15:49Anyone could have grabbed one and used it to implicate me.
15:51And then there's your private bourbon that you claim drugged both of you.
15:55And now the bourbon and the knife have conveniently disappeared.
15:59Now, I don't mean to alarm you, but how do you expect anyone to interpret all of this?
16:06I can't believe he's gone.
16:13Like, just...
16:15Hours ago, we were laughing.
16:19And happy.
16:20And then Cain wanted to talk to him privately, and I didn't want him to go.
16:26I didn't want him to, but I didn't think that it would be the last time I would ever see him.
16:30There's no way you could have known.
16:33Yeah, but I should have made him stay with me.
16:36You know, but he wanted to talk to Cain, too, and so I let him go.
16:39Well, I'm still trying to play catch-up here, because I had to learn from Cain that you and Damien were romantically involved.
16:49It just happened while we were here, okay?
16:52Nobody knew.
16:53I mean, Cain knew, because you apparently told him.
16:56No, he made an assumption, and I confirmed it.
17:00And you didn't want us together, and so I was just waiting for a better time to tell you.
17:06What do you think Cain wanted to talk to Damien about?
17:09I mean, I told him that we were a couple, and I was very blunt, and that's when he wanted to talk to Damien privately.
17:20What do you mean you were blunt?
17:22I just wanted to make it clear to Cain that we are over, and for him to back off, that's it.
17:32Oh, my God.
17:34Like, what if it's my fault?
17:37Like, what if I push Cain too hard?
17:39Well, he's still...
17:42Yeah, maybe he did.
17:44You can't blame yourself.
17:47And plus, Cain thinks he was the target, not Damien.
17:50Or...
17:53Or what?
17:56Or maybe he made up the whole thing about someone coming after him just so he can throw us off.
18:02Come on, do you really think Cain would do something that horrible?
18:06I honestly don't even know what to think anymore.
18:09Like, what if the father of my children is a murderer?
18:19Here.
18:21Take this.
18:23And tell me what happened.
18:24Who found the body?
18:26Cain.
18:27He was with Damien when it happened.
18:28He said that somebody threw a knife right into Damien's back.
18:31Who could have done such a thing?
18:35Cain claims he was drugged.
18:37I guess somebody put something into a bottle of alcohol that he'd had stashed, and he was feeling woozy.
18:43A bottle meant for Cain?
18:45I guess Damien drank a whole lot more of it than Cain did.
18:48And they were out trying to shake it off, and then somebody hit Damien in the back with a knife.
18:53Oh my gosh, and no one could even call for an ambulance.
18:58It wouldn't have mattered.
18:59I guess he died instantly.
19:01Do you believe that some anonymous stranger was hiding in the bushes just waiting for a chance to attack?
19:08Cain suspects that somebody's trying to kill him, which is why Chance is here in the first place.
19:14Could this be another one of Cain's crazy plot twists?
19:19At this point, I'm not putting anything past Cain.
19:21Were there any other witnesses besides Cain?
19:27Phyllis.
19:29She walked in just as Damien was hit.
19:33Well, that was the last thing she needed.
19:36Yeah, I thought of that, but she seemed okay when I left her.
19:39No, I mean, after what happened to us in the clinic, she still hasn't gotten over the trauma of that.
19:45Yeah, I know.
19:46Chance is about to interview her.
19:48He doesn't think that she had anything to do with the murder, does he?
19:54At this point, the only person who has a motive for this is Cain.
19:57Cain?
19:58Yeah, he just found out that Damien and Lily were involved.
20:02Oh, well, that doesn't sound good.
20:04In Cain's defense, he's claiming that he was the intended target, so I'm guessing he's about to blame someone else for this.
20:13Who?
20:14I have a hunch.
20:16And if I'm right, this vacation from hell is about to take another turn and get a whole lot worse.
20:22Who do you think that Cain will throw under the bus?
20:31Certainly not Phyllis or Lily.
20:34I bet he blames my dad.
20:36Victor?
20:38Why would he pin it on him?
20:40Cain expressed interest in acquiring Chancellor.
20:42My dad turned him down.
20:43But your dad has been dealing with corporate takeovers for decades.
20:48That's hardly a motive for murder.
20:50And if it were, he'd be the most notorious serial killer in history.
20:54It's not a motive, and my dad's not a murderer.
20:57But I doubt this stops Cain from pushing his agenda or pointing fingers.
21:02Guess it's a good thing Michael's here.
21:04What if Michael still represented Newman or my dad?
21:07Well, Michael cares a lot about Victor and your family.
21:15If Cain did try to pin this on Victor, I know that Michael would reconsider and he would come to the rescue.
21:25Yeah, you're probably right.
21:28And even better yet, Chance would see right through Cain's flimsy setup and he would dismiss Victor as a suspect altogether.
21:36But we still don't know what Cain has in the works.
21:40And now Phyllis is caught in the middle of this.
21:42It can't be good.
21:45You may think that she's doing okay, but that it's just because she is a master at covering up what's really going on.
21:53I know that she never fully dealt with what Martin Laurent did to us.
21:58Yeah, I know. She was really shaken by that.
22:00And after tonight, it makes me very worried about how all of this is going to affect Phyllis going forward.
22:09Well, Cain was as shocked as I was to see a knife in Damien's back.
22:16As you approached the garden, did you hear any sounds of a physical altercation, maybe an argument?
22:26Mm-mm.
22:26No.
22:27Mm-mm.
22:27No conflict between those two men.
22:29Can't seem woozy at all?
22:30Uh, no, uh, but as he stated, you know, having a dead man collapse in your arms would scare anybody straight.
22:39Yeah.
22:40Adrenaline is a hell of a drug, isn't it?
22:42Yeah.
22:42Uh, it sounds to me like you're already assuming Cain is the murderer here.
22:48I'm just keeping all possibilities open. That's it.
22:51Okay. Well, you can get rid of that possibility.
22:55I assure you, he is not guilty.
22:58And I think that you should focus your investigation elsewhere.
23:03Don't you worry. I'm going to be looking at all angles on this one.
23:07That's the job, right?
23:09No stone left unturned.
23:12Right.
23:12Now, I understand that you're here because you're very eager to work with Cain when he comes back to Genoa City.
23:26That's not a crime.
23:27It is if you're covering for him.
23:30It's called eating and abetting.
23:32Now, you wouldn't do something like that to protect him and your future, would you?
23:41Well, when you lay it all out like that.
23:49It's not a good look for you, is it?
23:51Okay. Look, I could see your point, all right? I could appear responsible.
23:55Well, except you're missing one thing.
23:58And what is that?
23:59A major plot twist, Amanda.
24:01Which is that Damien wasn't the intended victim, all right? That dagger was meant for me.
24:05How can you be so sure of that?
24:07Because it was my private stash of bourbon that was drugged, and there's no way the killer could have known that I was going to share that with Damien, or anyone else for that matter.
24:14So you were thinking that someone here, one of your guests, want you dead?
24:18Isn't it obvious? The killer just missed. That's all.
24:22I know that you've been fearing this for some time now, but no, I don't think that it is as cut and dry for everyone else as it is for you.
24:34Are you saying you don't believe me?
24:35Your guests are extremely frustrated with the charades that you pulled, your Aristotle identity, your lies, your games, your desire to move back to Genoa City.
24:47None of it has been well-received.
24:50But I think it is a bit of a stretch that any of them are so intimidated by you that they would want you dead.
24:58A man was killed here tonight, Amanda. That could have been me.
25:01And who? Who would have it in for you that badly? Lily? What would be her motive? Huh?
25:08Anger because of the betrayal from years ago?
25:11Oh, no. No, Lily is not capable of something like that.
25:14And I'm her children's father, for God's sake.
25:17No, Lily is as much of a victim as Damien is, and frankly, I wish I could go to her right now and comfort her.
25:22Yeah, good luck with that.
25:24Yeah, I get it. I'm the last person she wants to see right now. Thank you.
25:31God, every time I close my eyes, all I can see is just Damien lying on that stretcher.
25:39It's like I can't get the image out of my mind.
25:42Lily, like we were just laughing and smiling an hour before that.
25:49I'm sorry that she had to see that.
25:51Oh, my God. How are we going to tell Nate and Amy that that poor woman has suffered enough?
26:02I don't know how we're going to tell either of them.
26:04I mean, this is going to devastate Amy.
26:07It's going to break her heart.
26:10But I still can't believe that Cain could murder someone, that he could do something so evil.
26:15And for what?
26:18I don't know. I mean, I can't wrap my head around any of this.
26:21Like, I don't understand how this person that I used to love has turned into such a monster.
26:28Well, he's clearly not the person he used to be.
26:32I don't even think he knows who he is anymore.
26:35I mean, do you think that he was always like Colin and we didn't even realize it?
26:39Or maybe he's become like Colin over the years?
26:41Except Colin wasn't a murderer.
26:44Well, not that we know of.
26:45What about this claim that Cain keeps making that he was the original target of the killer?
26:51Or maybe this was his plan all along.
26:54I mean, didn't we think it was so weird that he fires Damien and then invites him here?
27:00Never made any sense.
27:03I mean, do you think it's possible that Cain just wanted Damien dead all along?
27:07We do not stress enough how dangerous the situation is.
27:22Everything I did was to stay alive.
27:25The tornado has touched down.
27:26Our house was gone.
27:28We got to run.
27:29There's a monster chasing us.
27:30We have a multi-car dollar.
27:33The truck was on top of my car.
27:35You knew this was going to be a life-changing moment for them.
27:39We didn't know how much time we had.
27:41You gotta go!
27:42I want to say thank you for saving my life.

29:08But also want gourmet salad.

29:26Oh, it's mesmerizing.
29:29I can't look away.
29:32Cleaning that greasy mess?
29:34And not even scrubbing.
29:36Well, fluff my feathers.
29:38Don Platinum is bringing it.
29:40You know it.
29:40It cuts through the grease better than their old dish soap.
29:43Keep quacking.
29:44Platinum breaks down the slimy stuff it would leave behind,
29:47removing 99% of grease and food residue.
29:50That's why only Don is trusted to save wildlife.
29:52Yeah.
29:54I'd fly south for a clean like that.
29:57Don Platinum, the better grease getter.
30:00Don, don, don, don.
30:03I'm sleepable, sleepable.
30:06Or go where he leads me to.

31:44We didn't know how much time we had.
31:47Three shows, one wild ride.
31:50This summer only on Global.
31:52Chance, a man was murdered.
31:55I want to find out who it was, too.
31:57How could you possibly think I would protect a killer?
32:00Need I remind you, Phyllis?
32:02It wasn't too long ago I was investigating your own murder.
32:06So I don't think honesty is one of your top priorities, all right?
32:11Need I remind you that my fake death and this very real one are two different things?
32:15You wasted my time with a lie when I could have been out there chasing actual criminals.
32:21So how do I know that you're not lying to me right now?
32:24I would never protect a killer for the sake of a job, especially some man who killed his former employee.
32:33Okay, so you're standing by your statement.
32:34You didn't actually see the attack?
32:36You arrived on scene just after the knife was hurled into Damien's back.
32:41No, I didn't see anything.
32:42And even if Cain did kill Damien, I can't testify.
32:48I didn't see a thing.
32:49So there you go.
32:50But what I can testify to is there's no way that Cain could have hidden the bottle and the knife.
32:57Why is that?
32:58Because I was with him the entire time.
33:01We left Damien together.
33:04We were looking for help.
33:06And then we came to you.
33:09There's no way he could have gotten rid of that evidence.
33:13Yeah, I was with him after that.
33:14He took me to the body.
33:15Oh.
33:17Well, then that makes you Cain's only other alibi for the time when the evidence was stolen.
33:22I agree with you on one thing.
33:29Lily is an unlikely suspect.
33:31She would never do something that heinous.
33:33Most importantly, she didn't have the opportunity.
33:35When you two walked off before the stabbing, Lily was with me most of the time, and she was not in a violent state of mind.
33:43Of course she wasn't.
33:44So then who planted that knife in Damien's back?
33:49Was it Jack Abbott?
33:51Why would he do it?
33:53He doesn't have any beef with you, or Damien for that matter.
33:55No, and I doubt he'd resort to violence even if he did.
33:57Okay, so then there is Billy.
33:59But why?
34:01Wasn't he hoping that he could join forces with you to go against Victor and regain Chancellor?
34:05And that leads us to the Newmans.
34:08But why would they resort to this kind of violence to keep control of a company that they own outright?
34:16See, I've been thinking about this for some time.
34:20If there's one thing I know about Victor Newman, it's I wouldn't put anything past him when it comes to protecting his wife's control of Chancellor.
34:26I still find it very hard to believe that he would go to these lengths for a company, even for Nicky.
34:33He could buy dozens of companies if he wanted.
34:35Okay, what about Nick, then?
34:37He's a known hothead.
34:38He's fiercely protective of his family.
34:40He's even threatened me on numerous occasions.
34:43Look, the only thing that I know for certain is that Damien wasn't the one who was supposed to be killed tonight.
34:50And that is why Chance is here.
34:53We'll get to the bottom of this.
34:56There is something else that I need to discuss with you, off the record.
35:01What's that?
35:03The lie that you did tell Chance.
35:05We both know that you have a way to contact the police in Nice.
35:11So why are you continuing to keep that a secret under these circumstances?
35:16What are you hiding, Kane?
35:18Because why are we not opening this up to a wider legal investigation?
35:23I can't believe what an ugly turn this trip was taken.
35:33I feel badly that I dragged you along.
35:36You didn't drag me.
35:37I wanted to come.
35:39I thought it would be an adventure.
35:41One that nightmares are made of.
35:44I mean, it's bad enough you're cut off from the kids.
35:47But now you're going to be caught up in another murder investigation.
35:50Stop it.
35:52Adam was able to get to us and report that the kids are fine.
35:55And I feel relieved that they'll finally find out why they haven't heard anything from me.
36:00It's a small comfort.
36:03Oh, poor Damien.
36:05To have his life end like that so suddenly and violently, it's just horrible.
36:14Does it make you think of Heather?
36:15I feel like we've been followed by this dark cloud for so long now.
36:24And every time it feels like the sun is about to come out, that cloud comes roaring back.
36:32Yeah.
36:33When we first got here, I was really hoping for some R&R.
36:38A fresh start and beautiful knees.
36:41But now, our trip has gone from bad to worse.
36:48This investigation is about to get a whole lot more disturbing.
36:56If that were the case that Cain wanted Damien dead this whole time,
37:00that would mean it would have nothing to do with you.
37:03Right?
37:04Since you and Damien were not romantically involved until you got here.
37:08Nothing happened until you got here, right?
37:11I mean, you thought that something was happening between us.
37:15Maybe Cain sensed it too.
37:17Yeah, but without seeing you both together, how?
37:20I'm sorry.
37:20It just, it doesn't make sense.
37:22I really don't think that Cain would kill someone out of jealousy.
37:26He has to know that you've been with other people since the two of you split.
37:31Yeah, true.
37:31And if Cain believes that he really was the intended target,
37:36I mean, who would want to kill him and why?
37:39Why would he invite them here if he were suspicious?
37:43I mean, none of this makes sense.
37:45I mean, my dad or Uncle Jack, I mean,
37:47neither of them would see him as a threat and want him dead.
37:51I mean, I don't think anyone here would actually be a suspect.
37:57Damien did not deserve to die like that.
38:00Listen, I don't like to talk about people who've died,
38:05but maybe we shouldn't absolve Damien altogether just yet.
38:10What are you saying?
38:14I'm just thinking out loud.
38:15I'm trying to think through all the possibilities here.
38:18Like what?
38:20I don't know.
38:21Maybe Damien was Cain's target, but not for the reasons that we think.
38:25Like maybe they had a connection on a deeper level that we're not even aware of.
38:29I don't know, like how much do we really know about Damien and his relationship with Cain
38:43before he got to Genoa City?
38:46Like didn't Holden tell Audra that Damien has a temper?
38:50Yeah, but we never saw it.
38:53No, we didn't, but we just can't forget about what Victor told us.
38:58Damien was looking into Winters before Nate even reached out to his newly discovered half-brother.
39:05There's a lot of stuff that just does not make sense.
39:08Cain and Damien could have had a contentious relationship that we aren't aware of.
39:13Contentious how?
39:15I don't know.
39:16Maybe he found out something about Cain when he was working for him.
39:20That's something that Cain desperately wanted to not be exposed.
39:24But you think he was blackmailing Cain?
39:27No.
39:28Damien is an innocent victim in this.
39:31I agree.
39:32I just don't see him as a blackmailing opportunist.
39:36Well, I mean, that may be the case, but I think that we need to keep our minds open to all possibilities.
39:44Because there's a lot of pieces still missing in this puzzle,
39:47and we may not like what they are when we find them.
39:50You know what?
39:56You're right.
39:58You're right.
39:58We could contact the local police if we wanted to.
40:01I don't want that.
40:03I don't want to let some random local detective mess up this investigation.
40:07I would hardly call the law enforcement in Nice random.
40:13After all, this is their jurisdiction.
40:14Well, that's when I brought Chance to the Chateau in the first place.
40:18I suspected I was going to be a target.
40:20And he has a reputation of being one of the most thorough investigators in law enforcement.
40:24He doesn't have any authority here.
40:26If someone is coming after me, that is the person that I trust to get to the bottom of this before it's too late.
40:30Not some casual municipal detective.
40:33You keep denigrating the local law enforcement, but they're the ones that know the culture.
40:37They know the people.
40:38They know the terrain and the law.
40:40Yeah, and Chance knows all the intricacies of all the people and circumstances involved here.
40:44He is the right person for the job.
40:48Your silence is deafening, and I don't like that.
40:51Nor do I like the way you're looking at me.
40:53How am I looking at you?
40:55Like you think that I am hiding something.
40:59Is that what you're thinking?
41:01Do you believe I killed Damien?
41:07Well, I wish I had more to tell you.
41:10There's nothing I'd love more than to prove Cain's innocence.
41:14I don't think he did it.
41:17All right.
41:19Thank you, fellas.
41:20That's all for now, but I'll have more for you later.
41:23Okay, it's not like I can go anywhere.
41:30I found this in the bathroom of my sleeping car.
41:38Is that what I think it is?
41:39What the hell?
41:40Someone is setting me up.
41:42I'm not like I can goに that way.
41:43I'll have a problem.
41:44I'm not going anywhere.
41:45I'm not going anywhere.
41:46I'll have more.
41:47I'm not looking...
41:47I'll have more for you later.
41:51I'm not Кар
