00:11prime minister, agreed to withdraw his defamation suit against Dr. Ahmad Zahid, who also withdrew
00:18his committal proceedings. The settlement was recorded before Judicial Commissioner
00:23Gan Tercheong in the Kuala Lumpur High Court on Tuesday. In July 2022, Dr. Mahathir filed the
00:32lawsuit against Dr. Ahmad Zahid as the sole defendant for allegedly making defamatory
00:38statements regarding the Kuti issue. He said Dr. Ahmad Zahid defamed him by referring to him as
00:45Mahathir's son of Iskandar Kuti during an UMNO divisional meeting in Kalana Jaya in 2017.
00:53The defendant denied that the statement was malicious and slanderous or harmed the plaintiff's
00:58reputation in the public eye. In January this year, the defendant was granted leave by the
01:03court to initiate contempt proceedings against the plaintiff relating to the lawsuit. The
01:09proceedings concerned a press conference by Dr. Mahathir in December last year where he
01:13showed documents after testifying in his lawsuit against Dr. Ahmad Zahid regarding the Kuti issue.
