00:00:23And Piper was helpless at the hands of the trio of Hogan,
00:00:28Eric Bischoff, and the Macho Man Randy Davis.
00:00:32We are ready to kick off a wild night of Nitro.

00:00:53Tony Schiavone, Iron Mike today, and joined for the three hours of our program tonight by

00:01:03And I said three hours, so much, fans, in this program, that we cannot ram it in to two hours here tonight.

00:01:23I guess after they witnessed what they witnessed, after we all saw the beating that Piper took after he was handcuffed to the steel cage,
00:01:31there you see, they got the world title back, but they have a lot to throw about here, don't they, Iron Mike?
00:01:38Well, they've regained possession from Roddy Piper of that world championship match, and obviously now,
00:01:44Pischoff and Hogan, they're going to celebrate that post-match beating after they handcuffed Piper to the steel cage.
00:01:51Wow, I gotta do what they had Hogan last night.
00:01:55Hogan was not the same wrestler I've seen before.
00:01:58This man is cruel, this man is mean, he cares less about anybody.
00:02:03Fans couldn't care less.
00:02:05But Rowdy, Rowdy Piper, he's a man.
00:02:08No, he's abandoned everyone, you're right, as a matter of fact, it was one of the most bizarre events we ever witnessed last night.

00:07:17Now we showed you the aftermath of what happened, but the sleeper was put on Hogan.

00:07:23And regardless of what Hogan could come out here and say, Piper won the match last night.

00:07:30Now Hogan comes out here just a moment ago with Eric Bischoff.
00:07:33He wants to challenge anyone in this world, anyone in this building, anyone in the crowd, anyone tonight.
00:07:38Be careful, Big Mouth, you might get what you asked for.

00:07:42And also, Mike, let's talk about the living legend Larry Zbysko.
00:07:45Not here with us at our broadcast location, although I do understand he is here tonight somewhere.
00:07:51He suffered a severe beating at the hands of many members of the NWO last night as well.
00:07:56Well, he certainly did, Tony.
00:07:57It was against strength in numbers for the New World Order at Halloween Havoc.
00:08:01But Larry Zbysko, after the match, able to apply the front face lock to six before Eric Bischoff put the boots to him.
00:08:08We do understand that while Larry is not part of the broadcast crew tonight, there we see the attack from behind by Scott Hall.
00:08:14And again, Bischoff, while he's being held by Scott Hall, the big round kick to the back of the head of Larry Zbysko.
00:08:20And then stomps on the chest of the living legend while Scott Hall makes the three count.
00:08:25But we will hear from the living legend Larry Zbysko later this evening on Nitro.
00:08:32All right, so a lot going on here, as we said.

00:09:01And I said that Eddie Guerrero is the former Cruiserweight champ,
00:09:05because here comes the new one, winning the belt last night, Ray Mysterio Jr.
00:09:11And Eddie Guerrero last night ripped the mask face part open.
00:09:14You can see some of his face, but not get a good look at it.
00:09:17Mysterio here fought like I've never seen a man fight before in my whole career.
00:09:22And talking about that encore presentation of Halloween Havoc,
00:09:26we honestly have to say that the matchup between Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero,
00:09:31not only one of the greatest Cruiserweight matches ever,
00:09:34but one of the greatest bouts in the history of World Championship Wrestling.
00:09:39That all a part of Halloween Havoc and the encore presentation
00:09:42that will be available tomorrow.

00:10:22I guess it's natural that Dean Malenko would be rated the number one contender
00:10:26to the new World's Cruiserweight champion, Rey Mysterio Jr.,
00:10:29for a couple of reasons.
00:10:30One, Malenko has been a three-time holder of this championship belt,
00:10:35and the other, just a couple of weeks ago on Nitro,
00:10:37he pulled off a victory over Rey Mysterio Jr.
00:10:40Of course, it was thanks to some interference by Eddie Guerrero
00:10:43who ran to the ring, pulled Mysterio's mask off,
00:10:45and allowing Malenko to apply the cloverleaf.
00:10:48Well, we knew as great as the event was last night,
00:10:51and as sensational as the win was by Piper with the sleeper in a cage,
00:10:55we all knew that, we talked about this earlier in the day here in San Diego,
00:10:59that the NWO would come out gloating because of what happened at Piper,
00:11:03the beating he took after the fact, because what happened to Larry Zbysko,
00:11:09because of what happened to Diamond Dallas Page,
00:11:12issues that we will touch on.
00:11:14The NWO, yes, they have the belt back because they captured the belt back,
00:11:19but I tell you, the battles are continuing here in our sport.
00:11:23Rey Mysterio finds himself in a very tough spot,
00:11:26but look at that, it turns that in to an arm drag tank down.
00:11:30Well, of course, Hogan and Bischoff revising history again.
00:11:33I guess Hulk's motto is never let facts get in the way of a good story.
00:11:37Boy, oh boy, has that ever been his motto.
00:11:39Mysterio turns that into sunset flip,
00:11:42and he gets a two count on Dean Malenko.

00:13:52And then enables Mysterio to get up to the top.

00:13:59And we've seen in the past that Malenka likes to drop down.

00:17:20The funeral attended by thousands of his fans saw Santo buried with his mask still on his face.

00:17:35The decade of the 1980s brought second generation wrestlers to the forefront.
00:17:40The time came for the sons of many wrestling legends to shine and they have established their names in WCW and around the world.

00:19:15You've been watching it on TV for the last couple of years and be there at the Marine Midland Arena.
00:19:20Kind of like experience Buffalo live.
00:19:23Leparka comes out wielding the chair.
00:19:26A man who's been very notorious using the chair not necessarily to win matches but after the fact many times.
00:19:34As a matter of fact we're gonna take you to some footage recently on WCW at the end of the summer.
00:19:40Glacier had the lateral press on psychosis.
00:19:43Leparka though this time did use the chair and rolled the man on top of Glacier to get the 1-2-3.
00:19:52That being the case Glacier's gonna come out here to try to avenge things from what occurred this past summer.
00:19:59Well we've been calling Leparka the chairman of world championship wrestling for the way that he wields that furniture.
00:20:04But now he's making no pretenses about it at all.
00:20:07He brings it right to the ring during his ring entrance.
00:20:10I think he's telegraphing the move obviously to Glacier.
00:20:13Well south of the border he's known as Mr. Hot Seat.
00:20:17And speaking of south of the border Mike, another great report on Lucha Libre and the Mexican Luchadores.
00:20:23And of course a lot of fans from Mexico come here to these events here in the United States.
00:20:29Being that we're right on the border here in Tijuana just south of us.
00:20:32Just a couple of miles away from the border and of course the stars of Lucha Libre such an important part of world championship wrestling in 1997.
00:20:41And you're right a lot of the people made the trip up from Tijuana for Monday Nitro in San Diego tonight.
00:20:46And fans as we said and as you have seen so far the nature boy Ric Flair is here tonight and he will face the Macho Man Randy Savage.
00:20:55Kurt Hennig is here. The Steiners will defend their world tag team championship belts against the public enemy duo of Rocco Rock and Johnny Grunge.

00:22:52Certainly a contrast in styles here when you think about what Glacier does in the ring and what Leparca does.

00:28:09And you know, the point of focus last night for Savage and then for Hogan dressed up as Sting,

00:41:26Disco Inferno did a lot of running, and I think that was because he was really
00:41:30unsure of how to approach the match, and I can understand why.
00:41:34But he ran and ran, and when he finally wore down,
00:41:37she went in for the attack and won the match.
00:41:39It was obvious that Disco Inferno went into Las Vegas last night without a game plan.
00:41:43That was the most obvious thing to me as I watched that match unfold.

01:05:29and then stomped Kurt Hennig's face using the belt,
01:05:32remembering what happened at Fall Brawl.
01:05:35He then decked the referee and then the other referees had to come in
01:05:40and pull these guys apart.
01:05:42The NWO comes in only to get Kurt Hennig out of harm's way.
01:05:46Ric Flair was like a wild man last night even though he did not win the US title.
