00:25Snow White Wishing Well and Grotto provides a tranquil and romantic setting along the
00:29east side of the Sleeping Beauty Castle moat. Tucked into a quiet corner, the Snow White Wishing
00:34Well and Grotto site has been a bucolic hideaway since 1961. The heart-adorned wooden bridge
00:41leads from the northeastern corner of the hub to the old-fashioned blue-roofed wishing
00:46well. From the bridge and the well, guests get clear views of the lovely Garden Grotto,
00:52where a gentle waterfall trickles among white marble statues of Snow White and all seven
00:58of the dwarves, and associated woodland creatures. Disney legend John Hench was responsible
01:03for this tranquil spot. These large crates were delivered to Disney in Burbank in the early
01:081960s, and when they opened the crates up, these beautiful marble sculptures, eight in total,
01:14had been delivered. Turns out the sculptor was licensed by Disney in Italy to sculpt the molds
01:19for Snow White soaps, and he had used the molds to create these marble sculptures and had sent
01:24them as a gift to Walt Disney. John Hench also saw a predicament that arose when it came time to
01:30install the statues. The Italian sculptor intended to represent the characters as they appeared in
01:35Disney's 1937 movie. All the figures were mistakenly about three feet high. Snow White should, of course,
01:42dwarf the dwarfs. To disguise the inaccuracy, Snow White is placed well at the back and at a distance and
01:49elevation giving the illusion of proper height disparity. Romance is in the air, literally.
01:54The Snow White wishing well emits soft echoing renditions of the movies
01:58Someday My Prince Will Come, as sung by the movie's vocalist Adriana Casati.
02:03All coins dropped into the well are given to charity.
02:06Snow White's wishing well has just been installed. The jets of water from the fountain rise and fall
02:18to the rhythm of the wishing song. Snow White and her hilarious crew often visit this beautiful grotto
02:24dedicated in their honor. The figures of Snow White and the dwarfs were carved in Italy from the purest white marble.
02:37The Variety Club of America is sponsoring Snow White's wishing well. The coins tossed hopefully into the water
02:51will be used by this famous organization of show business to help make the wishes of needy children
02:56throughout the world come true.
