The consensus around the league about the Dolphins is that they won’t be a good team which is why Hoch is high on them. Crowder is doubting the Dolphins have an established identity heading into a new season.

00:00you start to feel football season upon us and just talking about it with Ben
00:06watching quarterbacks on Netflix, like it's, it's, it's right there upon us.
00:12Here's my take on the dolphins.
00:14I haven't heard anyone nationally, Ben being a national writer for the NFL.
00:22Adam Schefter is going to join us this week.
00:24Um, I haven't heard anyone nationally have good expectations for the Miami dolphins.
00:30They all believe seemingly so far from what I've heard, what Ben believes, which by the
00:36way, if you add up all the clues, Jalen Ramsey, I got to get out of there.
00:41Calais Campbell, ah, go finish it up somewhere else.
00:45Uh, Teron Armstead, I'm done.
00:47I'm good.
00:48Uh, you know, like you start, like you start to add it all up and you go, something's a
00:53miss, like something is awry and everything leads to what Ben said, which is just an epic
01:04disaster where he's lost the locker room halfway during the season.
01:09And it's an epic disaster.
01:10And that is why I believe they're going to have one of the best seasons in recent memory,
01:16because no one's expecting that.
01:19I will read you later from Joe Shad in the Palm Beach post five reasons to be optimistic,
01:23but I just think that this is one of those things where everyone sees it, but they don't
01:31really see it.
01:32And they're forgetting 2023 only thinking about 2024 and this most recent off season and forgetting
01:40that sometimes there are hiccups along the way.
01:43There are one year aberrations.
01:45There are hiccups.
01:45And so I am, I am in on this dolphins team.
01:50I am in on the overs.
01:51I may have to put a future in on dolphins because Ben was saying he, the way he seeded the AFC
01:59East, he had new England second because he thinks they'll get eight or nine wins.
02:03Now think of where that would leave the dolphins for wind total when he has them seeded fourth,
02:11by the way.
02:12Yeah.
02:13But I don't think he's out of the ordinary when it comes to dolphins expectations from
02:18the national media.
02:19I I'll start my, my, like you're saying my outlook and I don't know if it's pessimistic.
02:26I'll try to make it more realistic.
02:27I'll say the, the part about him losing the locker room, the part about players coming
02:32out and saying, you know, we acted like we wanted to win, but everybody was coming late
02:36to meet.
02:36Nobody cared about fines.
02:38Nobody cared about this.
02:39There was a lack of leadership.
02:41All of that stuff is Mike McDaniels.
02:44Is that same thing we talked about been like that whole be a nice guy and invite you to my,
02:49to my house for Thanksgiving dinner.
02:51Like all that stuff.
02:52I don't think it works, but that's just nebulous.
02:54Hawk.
02:55We lost four, our top eight players, like just talent wise.
03:02That's the disturbing part.
03:03I'm with that.
03:04That's the disturbing part.
03:05That's what I'm saying.
03:06Factual, factual side of it.
03:08You're lining up in game one, cater cold and storm duck on your starting corners.
03:15That gives me no confidence.
03:17Who's next to sealer.
03:19Is it a young boy or from Michigan?
03:21Like, and it's dealer even going to get signed.
03:23It's dealer.
03:23He's not even there.
03:24It's, and Solana said it.
03:26He was like, I'm being totally optimistic.
03:28We haven't seen Bradley Chubb and Jalen Phillips play together in a long time.
03:33Like there's just so many question marks.
03:35This young offensive line is Liam Eikenberg still going to be back there, you know, paying
03:40people to run past him to hit Tua.
03:42Like the factual side of it.
03:45Can they get it together?
03:46Yes.
03:46But I'm not as optimistic as you are.
03:48I want to hear Joe Shed's five, but I'm not as optimistic as you are.
03:51Well, it gets underway tomorrow.
03:55It is disturbing though.
03:57The number of people and forget about, you can go, well, if Darren Waller, Hey, Minka is
04:03just look at the number of stars they lost.
04:07Yeah.
04:08You lost John who Smith and Jalen Ramsey and Teron Armstead and Clayus Campbell.
04:15Those four alone.
04:17Javon Holland.
04:18Javon Holland.
04:19You're talking about some of the most productive dolphins that were on the field.
04:25So I get it, but man, I just have a, I have a stalwart faith in Tua and Mike McDaniel's ability
04:36to get creative with the offense and hopefully, hopefully not have to create a game plan for
04:48Zach Wilson.
04:49That's where, that's where I'm at.
04:52Hawk, Ben kind of said it.
04:55Zach Wilson is going to get in the game next year and it's not going to be a blowout.
05:01Do you, do you, do you agree with that?
05:03Yeah.
05:04Yeah.
05:04But like I said last week, every, every starting quarterback in the NFL, no one's playing 17 games.
05:08Not really, Hawk.
05:10Josh, Josh Allen misses no games.
05:13Patrick Mahomes missed.
05:14I think he's played five full seasons.
05:17Like I kind of looked at it.
05:19I can, I've had to find it in my notes, but like you look at it.
05:22Lamar Jackson's and those top guys that are on that top 10 list we talked about, they
05:26don't miss seven.
05:27They miss a couple of games, a couple of games.
05:29They'll miss one game.
05:31And they could have played if the team, if they weren't already, we can exist with Zach
05:36Wilson starting one or two games for, but it wasn't one or two, it was seven or six and
05:42five and eight.
05:43Well, I mean that, that happens though.
05:45You're right.
05:45Like Patrick Mahomes, he'll have a game where he rolls his ankle.
05:48He has weak ankles and he's doubtful leading into Sunday.
05:52And then he's questionable.
05:54Then he's a game time decision.
05:55And then maybe he has to sit a game, but he's back the following week.
05:59Like that, that's the only difference.
06:00Cause you're right.
06:01Hawk quarterbacks, they don't baby them the way they do too.
06:04Yeah.
06:05It's different though.
06:06They do.
06:06They may be too.
06:07I agree, but you would agree also.
06:09It's different.
06:10I need to see Mike McDaniel in shorts that wrap around his thighs, a whistle, maybe about
06:22a whistle.
06:22He should look like a high school gym coach.
06:26Yes.
06:26He should look more like Willie Taggart and less like Willie Chirino.
06:31No, he's weird with the elements though, because when it's hot as hell in Miami, a hundred
06:37degree heat for training camp, I'm overdressing.
06:41I'm wearing, I'm wearing the full track suit.
06:43But then when it's freezing cold temperatures in, in Buffalo, he goes out with the same track
06:49suit and he's shivering on the sidelines and he looks weak.
06:52Like put on a jacket, bro.
06:55Didn't we determine he was doing that?
06:57He's wearing the hoodies and the sweatpants to show them that he's suffering.
07:01Through training camp.
07:03Like it's not, it's not that cold.
07:04It's not bring through game time conditions, but psychological where you're, you're, you're
07:09hot.
07:10You can't be hot.
07:10Cause I got on a hoodie.
07:11You're cold.
07:12You can't be that cold.
07:13I got on a seat.
07:13I'm saying you haven't won a playoff game in three seasons.
07:16So change it up tight thigh shorts, V neck, put a V be the first head coach to wear a V
07:27neck chest hair out deep and whistle deep.
07:31V almost the navel.
07:33If he runs a nipple of fallout, the thing is, and when you're running off the field in
07:40the primetime game, the cutesy little sprint off, walk slowly, change everything, change
07:47everything.
07:48They get ready.
07:49Cause he's going to sprint off after the halftime interview, walk like you're thirsting
07:55howl on Gilligan's Island.
07:59Well, it took timely reference.
08:02I don't know who the hell you're talking about.
08:04Josh Allen ain't missing no games.
08:05He's Superman.
08:06Josh Allen is, I've said it before.
08:08Josh Allen is a white Cam Newton.
08:09Like they're just too big and strong.
08:12Patrick Mahomes has bad ankles.
08:13I've watched Patrick Mahomes limp around and win a game because of the playing style.
08:19He has the concussion thing.
08:21And the little fingers crossed.
08:23What's it called?
08:23Tensing, fencing, fencing, huck.
08:28You can't unfence.
08:30You can't, you can't, like you said.
08:32Can't see it.
08:32No, huck.
08:33You can't, like you said.
08:34No, I thought about it.
08:34You said they'll let him tough through it.
08:37No one's going to let anybody tough through fencing.
08:40No one's going to let anybody tough through their toes pointed and their hands curled up.
08:45Liam Eikenberg, oven mitts.
08:47The moment Tua hits the ground, cover his hands with the oven mitts.
08:51He already wears oven mitts.
08:52That's why he can't block no damn body.
08:54No, no, no.
08:55Liam Eikenberg has to give the oven mitts to Tua.
08:57So, you can't see the hands fencing.
08:59You just cover his hands immediately after every play.
09:03What about his little toes pointed?
09:04Well, dive on him.
09:04Dive over him like he's a grenade.
09:11Wait till the fencing maneuver is over and then you get off him.
09:16Help him up.
09:17You good, bro.
09:18I'm just doing workarounds here.
09:19I'm figuring out workarounds.
09:22We will see Zach Wilson this year.
09:25I don't disagree with what Hawk is saying, though.
09:27What about the oven mitts?
09:29Right.
09:29Yeah.
09:30I think it's a great idea.
09:31Right.
09:31Yeah.
09:32We could do, Crowder, the what ifs with every team.
09:36Literally.
09:37We can't do the what if injuries?
09:39No, no, no.
09:39But I'm just saying like, oh, what if the, you know, Bradley Chubb and Jalen Phillips are looking great this season?
09:47Or what if they're not?
09:48Like, I could play both sides of that.
09:50Like, you can do the what ifs with every NFL team.
09:53And the reality is every NFL team is like one injury away from their season being over.
09:58Right?
09:58So if the Dolphins, if the Dolphins can be on the right side of the luck situation, which for the past couple of years, I'm a Dolphins detractor.
10:09But I'll admit, like, they've been on the wrong side of a lot of things.
10:13If this year things can fall their way, then, you know, maybe they can have a much better season than most people think.
10:20The problem is, I agree with Ben.
10:22Here's where I agree with Ben.
10:23Even if all those things, which is why I asked him, all those things go your way.
10:27The injury bug doesn't kill you how it's killed you the last couple of years.
10:31Aside from Tua, I still don't think this team has the horses to compete with the Josh Islands and the Chiefs and the Ravens.
10:39Maybe I'm wrong.
10:40I'm just not going that far.
10:42I'm only worried about regular season and what your win total is going to be.
10:46Are you going to the playoffs?
10:47To me, that's a conversation to be had after that happens.
10:51Give me a really good regular season.
10:54Give me an 11-win regular season.
10:58You're competitive all season long.
11:00You're exciting.
11:00Give me a – what was Detroit last season?
11:03They had one loss.
11:04Yeah, they were 14-3, I think.
11:06Yeah.
11:08Give me that.
11:09Don't get to the Super Bowl, and I'll figure out what went wrong after what.
11:13We play the what-ifs.
11:15The Lions don't play the what-ifs.
11:18The commanders are not playing what-ifs now.
11:20They went to the NFC Championship.
11:21The Kansas City Chiefs don't play the what-ifs.
11:23But what if Tyreek Hill ain't here?
11:26We played that out, and they went and won two more Super Bowls.
11:29The what-ifs is a resume, Solana.
11:31You bring up the two defensive ends.
11:32We give Bradley Chubb – what did he give him?
11:34$200 million?
11:35He's hurt.
11:36Jalen Phillips looks like a Hall of Fame DN.
11:40He gets hurt.
11:41Tua's going to get hurt.
11:42Tua gets hit, and he starts with the throwing up gang signs.
11:46We go back and forth.
11:47It's a resume thing.
11:49It's not what – if Patrick Mahomes goes down, they're not winning the Super Bowl.
11:53But Patrick Mahomes has never went down for that long.
11:55He hurts his ankle.
11:56He tapes it up.
11:57He goes out there and throws three touchdowns.
11:59I'm not doing the what-if game.
12:00I'm doing the resume game, and our resume is that we're not going to have our top players for too long
12:06because we've seen what happens.
12:08We've seen them all get hurt.
12:10Chubb, Phillips, Tua.
12:12We've seen them get hurt.
12:13Tyreek, if he gets – the police beat him up, he got hurt.
12:16Waddle gets hurt all the time.
12:18That's exactly what happened.
12:21He hurt his wrist because the police beat him up.
12:23No, something like that.
12:24Something like that.
12:25But, Salon, I'm not going off, yeah, could – you know, what happens if, you know, this player gets hurt?
12:33Yeah, they're going to be worse.
12:35Just like you're saying, Baker Mayfield's not with the Bucs.
12:37They're not a playoff team.
12:38Baker Mayfield doesn't get hurt consistently like Tua.
12:41I'm not disagreeing with you.
12:42I'm just saying, hey, you mentioned Jaden Daniels and the Commanders last year going into that season.
12:46There isn't a single person in their right mind who was saying, hey, Jaden Daniels is going to look like an all-star, a pro bowler, in his first year.
12:56It's not that they doubted his talent.
12:58They just didn't think he'd look the way he did.
13:00And that Commanders team was rebuilt.
13:03And there were what-ifs going into that season.
13:04Hey, if the offensive line can stay healthy and protect their rookie quarterback and Terry McLaurin can stay on the field, like, maybe that offense might have a little something.
13:14You know, like, guess what?
13:15It just all clicked for whatever reason.
13:17It clicked, and they achieved something that nobody expected them to.
13:21They surpassed expectations.
13:22And I'm saying in the NFL, those random things, sometimes – I'm not telling you to expect it.
13:28It happened in 2023.
13:29But it happened.
13:30It clicked.
13:30It didn't click all the way through the postseason.
13:33It clicked, though.
13:35It clicked.
13:37Unexpectedly, they're putting up 70 points against Denver.
13:40It clicked.
13:41That's all I'm saying.
13:43I'm with Solana.
13:44It can click for unexpected reasons, and we have proof that it clicked just two seasons ago.
13:50So I'm not considering it to be out of the question that it happens again.
13:54I'm starting to think that 70-point game was one of the worst things that ever happened to this organization.
14:01I'm serious, because everybody –
14:03We wouldn't have anything like that to talk about if we didn't have that.
14:07That – I just – that Denver game, it just – it's crazy that I'm – remember when they scored seven?
14:13Remember, they still were – you know, they were top – Tua was top five in everything that year.
14:18Well, that's what I'm saying.
14:19Like, yeah, everything was clicking.
14:20Like, Tua – and I'm going to argue for Tua all day.
14:23The team, though, this year – Tua could be a top-ten quarterback this year, and I think he is if he – you know, if he stays healthy.
14:30We always got to put the claws in for him.
14:32This team, this roster, I'm not as high as you are, Hawk.
14:36I'll put it that way.
14:37What if Mike McDaniel wore a suit like Mike Ditka used to wear on the sidelines?
14:42Wear a suit like Tom Landry with the hat, you know?
14:46Maybe he doesn't want to do the shorts.
14:48He doesn't have the legs like Dan Campbell.
14:50Yeah.
14:50So what if he went just the opposite direction, suit, vest, hat, tie?
14:59Would that make us get fourths and shorts?
15:02Well, I don't know.
15:04I do know that the hoodie and the capri pants aren't.
15:11We know that doesn't work.
15:13Let's just go through the aisle and see what works.
15:15Alec Ingold in a three-piece suit and see if he gets the fourth and shorts.
15:21Make everybody wear a bow tie.
15:23Let's get –
