00:00so as we get ready for more and more of the nfl to show up to training camp this week we got more
00:06teams reporting on this monday again by the end of tomorrow 30 of 32 teams the atlanta falcons
00:13and the dallas cowboys will show up to training camp on wednesday for all 32 nfl clubs and of
00:19course drs with a good majority of teams reporting tomorrow we'll make sure we know who is there
00:24that's the expected and anticipated enrollees well of course note who is not there the bengals rookies
00:32showed up on saturday shamar stewart not one of them as his holdout as the final first round pick
00:39to sign that rookie deal continues now in cincinnati but one of the main storylines we have discussed
00:45over the last week has been the top 10 quarterback rankings of course anytime you list a top 10 list
00:51in the offseason early in preseason it is going to be some conjecture this was not from the minds of
00:58a media company this was reported to espn in a survey in straw poll by nfl coaches executives in
01:06scouts around the league again here was their top 10 list that we have spoken about at length
01:11patrick mahomes josh allen joe burrow lamar jackson jayden daniels matthew stafford justin herbert jared
01:19goff jaylen hertz and baker mayfield to round out the top 10 so our producer extraordinaire
01:26said all right enough of that list let's hear it from you guys first and foremost in the context of
01:32the explanation and getting ready for a new nfl campaign so we unveil our top 10 quarterback list
01:41on this monday and donnie right side please begin it's pretty and again these are our lists here
01:49and we're not going to go crazy and say hey man jj mccarthy's in the fourth spot because he was
01:53really good at handing off at michigan like we're not going to do that but some players will be the
01:57same spots some players people like oh you have them up a little bit higher but there's no true word
02:01there's no exact slot on which way these quarterbacks will go so for me just to start in
02:05the top five it's simple patrick mahomes is the best quarterback in the nfl i don't care what
02:09anybody else is doing if there was a draft today that had okay pick your quarterback first patrick
02:14mahomes will be on the top of everybody's list if not you're a buffoon and you probably run the
02:17cincinnati bangles and or the cleveland browns but as i said that number two josh allen number three
02:23lamar jackson number four joe burrow number five jalen hertz now jalen hertz might be that you know
02:28magnifying spot at number five that oh you could put so many guys in the air but that's my list on what
02:33i anticipate from a quarterback what he's done in the previous season or two and what i expect him to do
02:38in the next season or two that's my criteria it's like all right what are you getting now what did
02:42you just get in the rearview mirror and what's just in front of you i'm not projecting by saying
02:47hey this guy's got 15 years left in the nfl he's going to be a better quarterback at this point
02:51i'm not saying that oh well lamar jackson the best of them is in the past like no lamar was really good
02:56two years ago lamar is going to be really good in two years and lamar is really good right now
03:00that's why i have him listed there at number three over joe burrow well joe burrow got to a super
03:04bowl he's more of a stand-up pocket passer do you watch lamar jackson on a week-to-week basis
03:08how dynamic he is he absolutely deserves to be in that top five but when i look and say
03:13put into the computer give me a quarterback a prototype that i want isn't josh allen everybody's
03:20prototype he just doesn't get in there because patchwell homes is all world has multiple super
03:23bowls mvps you guessed it like he is the best but otherwise that one a is josh allen he can throw it
03:30he can run it he can lead a team now does he have the super bowls does he have the championships no
03:34he doesn't but when i want a quarterback it's hard to pass up what josh allen actually gives you
03:39that's my top five right there completely agree drs we kind of shared our thoughts again criteria for
03:46what the execs the scouts and the coaches decided we don't know is it the guy you want to build your
03:51franchise with starting from day one here today is it super bowl and playoff success more than it is
03:58individual accolades for me that matters most what you do on those significant stages but it's a part
04:04of your entire resume so i'm not going to discredit lamar jackson being a two-time mvp in the national
04:11football league and a first team all pro at the quarterback spot patrick mahomes in a league of his
04:16own one and by far one in front of josh allen lamar jackson and joe burrow but as you share drs that is
04:24kind of the top four in consensus of how we feel we have the exact same top five i have josh allen and
04:31lamar jackson because of the individual accolades and although joe burrow has one thing that neither
04:37allen or jackson do that's a playoff win against patrick mahomes and in appearance in a super bowl
04:45still we need to see more out of joe burrow consistently two really great years injuries have
04:51crude tail to others and then last year comeback player of the year for the second time in his
04:56career but the bangles ultimately falling short was any of that on joe burrow no had the bangles been
05:02an 11-win football team with a better defense joe burrow probably wins the mvp award josh allen has an
05:08mvp lamar jackson has too as does patrick mahomes we have put jalen hurts in our top five we'll talk more
05:15about hurts and why he is top five next on the other side of the thing as we share our top 10
05:24quarterback lists on this monday in a month of football that is july drs and i have the exact
05:30same top five in the top four slightly different order than how the execs the coaches and the scouts
05:36had it we both have lamar jackson in front of joe burrow because lamar has won two mvp awards and was
05:43first team all pro at the quarterback spot with a historic season in 2024 sure joe burrow has the
05:50super bowl appearance that neither josh allen nor lamar jackson hold at this moment and lamar's got
05:56some playoff questions josh allen is still one of the playoffs just can't slay that postseason dragon
06:02of patrick mahomes and the chiefs ousted by casey four times in the last five years at least josh
06:08has been to multiple afc championship games the rs where we really differ from the top 10 list that
06:15has been circulating is what we shared and expressed last week we both consider jalen hurts a top five
06:22quarterback well look at some of the numbers it was saquon barkley you sound like an idiot jalen hurts
06:28has performed as an individual but guiding his team to the most significant stage twice two super
06:35in the last three years and last year brilliant in that playoff run for philadelphia that resulted
06:41in a lombardi trophy he has something on this list that very few do a super bowl appearance and a
06:51lombardi on our list the rs there are three guys that have won a super bowl patrick mahomes has three
06:58matthew stafford has one jalen hurts the other jalen hurts is a top five quarterback and if you need
07:05tangible proof why how about those eagle super bowl rings drs that were unveiled over the weekend huh
07:14beautiful absolutely a thing of beauty taking it to the next level the rings get bigger and bigger
07:20every single year maybe the delay on that super bowl you know ring presentation which was supposed
07:26to take place a month ago they had to do a little bit of an add on here as you see the pictures of
07:30the rings absolutely beautiful and the wings up top when you press the button that you see there
07:35they open up so the wings almost like the batmobile at that point try to slip in there with the doors
07:41that is an absolutely beautiful ring the bigger the better as they get maybe the best look people
07:48are arguing this might be the best super bowl champion most dominant run that they've seen best super
07:52bowl team in the super bowl era clearly have the single best ring ever in the super bowl era i'm
07:58pretty sure the dallas cowboy rings are probably the side of like a small pendant and rusted green at
08:03this point because how old they are and probably knock off diamonds that you could probably just chip
08:07pieces away from them but that philadelphia eagles ring sets the standard for the next wave of ring like
08:12what's next like because we've seen the rings like you untwist them they open up and they have like a
08:17little trinket inside but the fact that now you have the extended golden wings like what is this
08:22going to look forward to in the future of other teams that actually win a super bowl championship
08:25and now have to innovate their ring into something like that i think it's a great looking ring and two
08:31lombardis on that ring twice as nice love to see it love to see it drs you've got the replica lombardis
08:39behind you in your at home set we also hope maybe to have a replica of that ring and we could see
08:45the actual fashion of the wings opening as you press that button yes it is a beautiful super bowl ring
08:53but because of that donnie is why jalen hurts deserves to be in the top five and why he is
08:59a top five quarterback again criteria of why we make these decisions at least as we have shared them
09:06your team performance in reaching the most special and significant stages of the sport that being a
09:13super bowl that needs to be taken into account and it's one thing if your defense was sensational
09:19or your offense carries the quarterback but of course he is the orchestrator of everything and then
09:25in those games that matter most a conference title game a super bowl appearance you stumble and you are
09:32exposed it has been quite the opposite if you want to argue that jalen hurts was not the reason that
09:37philadelphia won 14 games and reached the nfc championship all right i disagree but all right
09:44but then when you look at what he did in the most significant games of his career super bowl 57
09:49super bowl 59 resulting in a lombardi trophy in a super bowl mvp award and even in the nfc championship
09:57route of the commander's drs jalen hurts is deserving of the recognition that for some reason
10:03eludes him in nfl circles no you're right getting to the big games here and winning those big games
10:09like take a look at jalen hurts his career it is a big win when you get to an nfc championship game
10:14he knocked off the san francisco 49ers fast forward just a couple years there on top of that knocking
10:19off the washington commanders getting to a super bowl game number one if the eagles would have won
10:24and that was at a field that wasn't an ice skating rink the field if the eagles would run that game
10:28and jalen hurts probably would be a two-time super bowl winning championship and a two-time
10:32super bowl mvp at this early stage of his career because you do have to give the extracurriculars
10:38you can put up all the fancy numbers you want right and we always equate back to dan marino who
10:42i'm not saying jalen hurts is a better quarterback than dan marino but there was something that happened
10:46whether it's a defense or running game or he just wanted to pass the football didn't equate the
10:50championships he got to a super bowl very early in his career in the early 80s against the san
10:54francisco 49ers we all figure like oh marino probably back here every two to three years
10:59he's so good never got back to one so for the fact that you have jalen hurts in a super bowl and lose
11:04it in that fashion only to rectify that same situation against that very same football team
11:09and absolutely dominate them you have to give a lot of extracurriculars to jalen hurts because
11:15that's the way it gets down you're a big time player on a big stop time stage in the biggest moment
11:20jalen hurts has been that quarterback for the philadelphia eagles and deservedly so
11:23being in my top five and donnie we often still look at the quarterback position despite the
11:29athletes we see now play this spot especially in the national football league and if it's not as
11:34pretty through the air we knock them right if it's not as pretty through the air we think
11:39man but are they really that great of a quarterback when when you lead your offense down the field which
11:45is the only goal to score points which is again the only goal in a football game doesn't matter how you
11:50get the job done and so when you look at jalen hurts the rs there have been five seasons in nfl
11:56history a quarterback individually has rushed for at least 13 touchdowns jalen hurts owns three of
12:02them including the nfl record for a single season alongside josh allen both doing so in 2023
12:08with 15 rushing scores hurts had 14 last year and 13 in 2022 and again if you want to talk about
12:15the individual performance in production ledger go look at 2022 for jalen hurts before he was banged
12:21up a couple of games down the stretch and gardner minchu had to make some spot starts he would have
12:26won the mvp that year probably in front of patrick mahomes and that would have negated any of the idea
12:33that individually jalen hurts is not a talented quarterback in what he does the final half of our
12:39top 10 drs is where we slightly disagree go through the ending of your top 10 i'll get to mine
12:46after yeah going through and again there's arguments to be made all the way around that because it gets
12:51a little bit tough to slot these guys number six for me we justin herbert seven goff eight mayfield
12:55nine daniels and ten matthew stafford now when you look at this say well why my criteria can be
13:01different we're looking right now we're looking for the career and what we have i took like that two
13:06year window behind and two years like looking forward i do think justin herbert is that next
13:11level player and takes a step up this year as opposed to what you saw last year protecting the
13:14football but him in the biggest moments in the playoffs haven't gotten over the hump and also
13:18like jared golf might be not looked at like do you see all the numbers that he put up in detroit
13:23under ben johnson like you can't look past that but also at the same time is he a system quarterback
13:27can he win at the biggest level multiple interceptions against washington you can't have that but yet
13:32you can't really hold that against him too far because baker mayfield i think he's gonna have a
13:36sensational season coming up with tampa bay love the offensive set they had adding another wide
13:41receiver in the draft here he should put up good numbers jaden daniels is on that rocket ship and
13:46then matthew stafford who's saying you know what do i love what he did just the last two years he
13:49won a super what three years ago two years been okay 20 touchdown passes last year i need that to
13:53improve but the expectations are his team is good this year he's a good quarterback they should make a
13:58playoff run that's why he cracks the top 10 for me again it's accolades it's resume matthew
14:04stafford has a large one aaron rogers if we were to do it just based on resume would probably be in
14:10the top 10 but with given performance we're not expecting a ton out of aaron we haven't seen a ton
14:15out of aaron we still have at a stafford in critical moments in the projection for this year
14:20alongside puka nikua devante adams and kyron williams is that stafford is going to lead a high
14:26charged la offense back to maybe a super bowl appearance or an nfc championship game appearance
14:32we'll round out our list of top 10 qbs on the other side of the break keep moving it forward
14:38next here on the early line the back half of my top 10 in our top 10 quarterbacks list all the rage
14:45right now as we get ready for preseason and training camp to begin around the nfl drs i have jared goff
14:52at number six based on the performances we have seen the last few years in detroit big question
14:58this year right a lot of expectation on the lions to win a third consecutive nfc north divisional crown
15:03reached the nfc championship game for a second time in three years which is something that had
15:09alluded detroit as a franchise for more than three decades but to your point is it more just the
15:14beneficiary of being with ben johnson or is jared goff in this new situation in detroit relatively new
15:21he's been there now for at least three if not four years four years right yeah four years under
15:27dan campbell jared goff continues to spin it i give matthew stafford the benefit of the doubt
15:32with a lombardi trophy with his production but not just past production drs still the projection
15:38of what 2025 is going to have when i want to build my franchise around a 37 year old quarterback
15:45that might have one or two more nfl seasons no but i still give matthew stafford the credit in
15:51my top 10 justin herbert is who you would want to build your franchise around but he has been
15:56awful like drastically awful both he individually and the chargers and the only two playoff appearances
16:02herbert has made this is the year to change that narrative jaden daniels we both have at number nine
16:09the rookie was a record setter and guided his franchise to a stage washington had not been since
16:151991 but it's still a one-year sample size got to see more i think to be included in the top 10 is
16:22awesome where the execs the coaches and the scouts had him in the top five a little bit too much for
16:27me here as i do believe the 2024 featured a little bit of recency bias when we look at our top 10
16:32quarterbacks i don't love dac prescott but i think he's the top 10 quarterback right now in the nfl when
16:38fully healthy and what he can do for the dallas cowboys so i included dac to round out my top 10
16:44as well yeah it's it's dac was right on the cusp for me but also understanding like what the season
16:50is going to entail like when i look at my top 10 i look at all those quarterbacks on the list with
16:54those teams ago they seem like they're going to be surefire playoff teams unless you have
16:58unbelievably ridiculous injuries that are across the board and i look at dac prescott i do think that
17:04he's going to have a very good season with the cowboys they'll win more games than they lose with
17:08a chance to make the playoffs but when i just take a look like the rear view mirror and the front
17:12and then you know the front like hey you know what looking through that windshield i can see the sign up
17:16ahead i don't think it says like dac prescott winning you know enough games to get to the nfc
17:20championship game per se that's why i just dropped him slightly outside of my top 10 it's not a knock
17:25like if you're in the top 15 you're a good quarterback and he i think was 11 on my list of maybe trying to
17:30sneak him into that top 10 but i just kept him out because sometimes also the team
17:34expectations will creep in as opposed to what that player is and the expectations of winning a
17:39championship to try to factor in and move these guys up the list i don't think dac's going to win
17:43a championship but i do think dac does have a very good regular season certainly let's just say in
17:47the top 12 for me no doubt about it baker mayfield is in my top 12 as well i'd probably list him at 11
17:54and not all that far behind dac prescott i do just believe drs because we've had this conversation
18:00a few times that we need to put dac in his proper context the dallas cowboys with dac prescott or
18:06tony romo or even guys before romo have not won a championship and they've been slided by their own
18:12lack of postseason success of course in the last three decades but when dac prescott has been either
18:18fully healthy or mostly healthy he has played at least 12 games in seven of the nine seasons he has
18:24been in the national football league the cowboys have won at least eight games over what that
18:30projected win total is for this year and dac's last two fully healthy seasons 2021 cowboys were 11 and
18:38five in the 16 starts that dac made he threw for nearly 4500 yards and 37 touchdowns and then drs when
18:46he was fully healthy in 2023 the cowboys won the division they went 12 and 5 and dac led the lead in
18:52touchdown passes with 36 throwing for more than 4500 yards again dac prescott in a lack of success he
18:59has had in playoff appearances no doubt about it but earning it through his regular season success in
19:06getting to the postseason those chances have been there for dac prescott you know that's of course as
19:12we talk about top 10 qbs then you have to go to the nfl mvp market as well here are where the mvp
19:19odds stack up entering 2025 lamar jackson five to one he is the favorite josh allen our reigning mvp
19:26winner plus 600 of course the rs a lot of conjecture about these two guys last year in the race for mvp
19:34lamar jackson won his second trophy in his nfl career in 2023 winning that mvp hardware some thought
19:43josh allen had the better statistical year but lamar jackson and his ravens had the best record in the nfl
19:48last year josh allen was making history doing things in games that we have never seen out of
19:53a quarterback like throwing running and catching a touchdown in a single game but lamar jackson's
20:00season more than 4100 passing yards 41 touchdowns he was absolutely ridiculous maybe his best
20:08statistical year and he didn't win mvp but of course lamar jackson was named first team all pro at the
20:14quarterback position josh allen second team all pro at the qb spot the first time in more than 20
20:21years only the third time in nfl history that the first team all pro qb was not the mvp winner that was
20:29very interesting last season and maybe we are giving that bump to lamar jackson to get his third trophy
20:35in the seven years of his nfl career yeah they're probably the most talented team in the nfl like just
20:41looking at them on paper the baltimore ravens with lamar jackson which then questions well
20:45how much statistics is lamar jackson going to have to put up because it looks like you have an
20:49incredibly tough defense which is great which means you'll be up in the fourth quarter maybe running
20:53the football with derrick henry a little bit more than you need to pass it but lamar jackson maybe the
20:57best regular season play that player that we see because on a week-to-week basis he can run for 100
21:02yards he can throw for 300 yards he can throw four touchdown passes we've seen it all in his statistical
21:06a nominee last year of not winning the mvp was pretty incredible because josh allen was great
21:10but just the statistics alone was lamar jackson jayden daniel's at plus 750 is an interesting price
21:16because he's being priced with the big boys there and the expectations who are mvps they see what he
21:21did in his rookie year which means his team is probably gonna have to win the division and be
21:24even better in the second year while the anticipation is yeah you're supposed to get better on a year to
21:28your basis sometimes after that rookie season to the sophomore i'm not calling for a slump but if he has
21:33better statistics based on what he had last year was he rushing for a thousand yards throwing for
21:374500 passes and 30 touchdowns he'd win the mvp i don't think he will the one guy on that list whereas
21:43if joe burrow and the bangles make the playoffs that means he had a monster season so he is six
21:49to one rick line lamar's five to one but joe burrow just sticks out in this mvp race he does
21:54and joey b has not received the mvp just yet in his nfl career plenty more to come next
22:00the nfl mvp can uh conversation entering 2025 and drs you said it right before the break
22:09it's not value because it's a buck behind the favorite in lamar jackson but it really does feel
22:14like joe burrow if he puts up similar numbers to what he did last year when he led the nfl with
22:19more than 47 4700 passing yards and in passing touchdowns as well joey b will be in consideration
22:26i do believe despite the statistical season that lamar jackson had and josh allen even making
22:32history in certain aspects last year that if the bangles were 11 and 6 in a playoff team
22:38the numbers out of joe burrow in the performances in the highlights he delivered he would have won
22:44the mvp award i think the number is drastically short on jaden daniels gotta back it up could you
22:49make an argument for justin herbert we would think the stats would be there as we started to see that
22:55offense evolved last year in la and i really do think you can make a case for jalen hurts assuming
23:02saquon barkley is still really really good but that could be 1300 rushing yards not over 2000
23:08in 12 rushing scores hurts is going to have the production i expect the eagles to continue to look
23:14great in their super bowl defense that 20 to 1 number on jalen hurts to kind of look at everybody
23:19and say well if you're only knock about me is how i play the quarterback position in my own
23:24individual production here you go i think that's a pretty tasty price on hurts as well
23:29yeah hurts actually should be ahead of justin herbert i know they're both listed at 20 to 1 but
23:33for me like yes the eagles pencilman for what 15 rushing touchdowns let's just say if he can stay
23:40healthy the whole year and the eagles don't have a break at the end of the season where they can rest
23:44for week 17 and 18 that he throws let's just say 30 touchdown passes and the team is in first place
23:49he's going to get a bump from that but look at justin herbert yes the talent is there and i do have
23:53in my top 10 i just don't know if he's going to be asked to do everything you know you need to do
23:58to win an mvp because it usually is why were the chargers so good why were the bengals so good but
24:04they got unbelievable quarterback play now i do like mcconkey at wide receiver but i don't know who
24:09else is catching the footballs of that and also you know jim harbaugh hey man i got an unbelievable
24:15offensive line and a couple banging running backs back here we like to be fast and physical i just don't
24:22know if the statistics will be there at the end i do know lamar jackson's going to put stats in
24:26whatever you know system he's in josh allen no matter what the record is here he's going to be
24:31involved in quarterback sneaks and throwing touchdown passes patrick holmes in the kansas city
24:35chiefs you punch him in for double digit wins he's got his wide receiving core back maybe he does
24:39damage joe burrow that we just went over where the defense might not be so good so the expectations are
24:434500 plus passing yards and 35 plus touchdown passes and then jaden daniels who can work his way and i just
24:50look at herbert and say if there's one guy like an i don't know the 25 to one or less that i don't
24:55want to bet on it's actually justin herbert for me ben interesting drs i get it right last year we
25:01heard what the onus was going to be with the bolts take the ball out of his hands and the pressure
25:06off of him we'll see if that continues to be the case as they really started to open it up at the end
25:13of last season joe burrow last year throwing for nearly 5000 yards 4918 he led the nfl in passing
25:21yards and in passing touchdowns with 43 only nine interceptions as well really taking care of the
25:28football drs a quarterback will not be in the mvp race now or potentially ever is will levis some
25:35breaking news just shared out by nfl network's ian rapaport levis will undergo surgery on his
25:42throwing shoulder ending his 2025 season the surgery is set for next tuesday july 29th
25:51i did so when the titans report to camp because i did this just titans show up to camp tomorrow
25:58did this just happen that he's like all right i can't make it through or is this like a play for
26:04will levis to be fine next year and to give the idea that in the final year of his rookie deal
26:09the premise of what he can do he'll be able to be out there i understand the injury and when it
26:15occurred but why make the decision now a week after training camp is set to begin for your organization
26:22are you electing to have surgery but also here's my favorite part like you know the big accounts the
26:28adam shefters the ian rapaport yeah that was breaking news is it breaking news for a guy that wasn't
26:33anticipated to take a snap in the nfl next year to actually not take a snap in the nfl like he
26:39doesn't even factor into the play like i'm surprised he wasn't cut already even before this at this point
26:44i understand we're starving for like football information but this could have been a byline
26:48on like a newspaper that came out the next day like usa today that's what we should have had here not
26:53breaking news in the morning on a monday oh my god will levis is out yeah he was out already
26:58because he stinks how about that he does stink he injured the shoulder last year he re-aggravated
27:04later in the season maybe in some mop up duty and has been unable as shefter said to shake
27:09the discomfort it feels like an agent tweet to be like just wait till levis another fully healthy for
27:15the final year of his rookie deal and you can maybe trade a seventh rounder for the former second round
27:20our three up next welcome to our number three our third and final on this first day of a new week
27:27it is a monday on the early line he is donnie i am ben plenty to dive into here in our third
27:34and final hour we will preview basically every game on this monday slate around major league baseball as
27:40the second half but really 60 plus games left for all clubs around mlb continues on this monday
27:48around the major league diamond we are also approaching drs a week from thursday not just
27:54the hall of fame game as we'll continue our football conversations bless you or excuse you
27:58whatever that was but also trade deadline as well drs in mlb a week from thursday as well so a preview
28:08of the slate tom necchio will join us a little bit later on for his prop perspective getting us ready
28:14for a football season as well and donna we've talked top 10 quarterbacks how about a top 10 wide
28:20receiver list to start off this third and final hour yeah i should look there's nobody that likes
28:26to grade wide receivers more than myself because not only does your play have to get factored in
28:31it's the swag potential how you look in your uniform uniform number how you conduct yourself on that
28:37field it all matters in and it all factors in but talking wide receivers before we get to camp
28:41that's how you know football season is about to get underway forget the quarterbacks forget the
28:46running backs forget the pass rushers the cornerbacks give me the wide receivers let them shine
28:51and again by the end of tomorrow 30 of our 32 nfl teams will have reported to training camp it is a
28:59football month drs the top 10 qb list made the headlines top 10 edge rushers linebackers all of this
29:06was reported to espn in the anonymous surveys from coaches and execs and scouts the other one that
29:13caused some social media or online buzz was the list of the top 10 wide receivers in the nfl number one
29:21the triple crown winner from last year jamar chase number two justin jefferson number three tyreek hill
29:28number four cd lamb number five aj brown number six almond raw st brown number seven malik neighbors
29:36after a sensational rookie year number eight nico collins number nine mike evans number 10 garrett
29:43wilson uh some people had some issue with how that shook out drs before i get to your assessment on that
29:50top 10 list let's hear from the people we'll put all of our reaction into one who's the best wide receiver
29:56in the national football league that was the question to you and fade the public
30:00at sports grid on twitter who is the best wide receiver in the nfl we included the top three
30:15and then if you did not have one of those three as your best we asked for another with a reply so drs
30:23it really came down to a two-guy race two guys that played college football together and won
30:28national championships catching passes from joe burrow jamar chase and justin jefferson at sports
30:34grid on twitter who is the best wide out in the nfl most of the public nearly 51 of the public saying
30:42justin jefferson beating out his former bayou bengal teammate by 10 percentage points jamar chase just
30:50over 40 percent tyreek hill not a ton of consideration other did get some including
30:56somebody vouching for uh vouching for a.j brown and then somebody i don't even know what that other one
31:03is but the rs most of the public saying justin jefferson as the best receiver in the nfl what about
31:10you it's it's a tough question and again the question is simple so what donny why would it be
31:16tough you got to hear me out on this the best wide receiver in the nfl it is justin jefferson
31:21but in order to be a great wide receiver you need a really good quarterback like jamar chase
31:27and joe burrow makes jamar chase a better wide receiver than justin jefferson on his itself
31:33because if you said well darnold's coming back he could force feed the football to jefferson's
31:36okay you know what that's a pretty good argument but we have a rookie for all the
31:40defensive purposes here coming back now granted jj mccarthy was in the nfl this year didn't play
31:44because he was injured he's been around the system but that's a knock but i do think that
31:49the people got this right 50 of the votes coming in on justin jefferson because i do think he's the
31:53best wide receiver and that was the question but not all things are equal like in order to be a great
31:58wide receiver and put up those statistics that we expect for justin jefferson it's hard to say
32:02yeah he's going to get a rookie that didn't throw the football a lot in college when joe burrow is
32:07throwing jamar chase the football with a horrendous defense so i do agree with the premise of the
32:12question being justin jefferson but i actually voted jamar chase because my expectations are
32:17the best wide receiver in the nfl is a statistical win at the end of the receipt of the end of the
32:23season if you ask me he's gonna have more catches more touchdowns and more yards it's jamar chase
32:28which should then say that well then he's the best wide receiver in football no that's not the case
32:32because again not all things are equal here jamar chase has an unbelievable advantage over justin
32:38jefferson just with the quarterback yeah so drs i think it's really funny right we stressed what
32:43was the criteria these coaches execs and scouts use we try to deliver our own criteria for our own
32:49list and where we disagreed or agreed with the list we saw earlier the idea of team success and
32:56performance in the most significant of stages is not necessarily something we do with any position in
33:02football outside of the qb to me it's one and two justin jefferson jamar chase i give the edge to
33:11jefferson but to me those two guys have a distinct advantage in front of everybody else i really don't
33:17have much issue with this top 10 list do i think malik neighbors should be there after one year
33:22i'm not so sure do i think nico collins should be top 10 i'm not so sure i don't think garrett
33:30wilson deserves to be there where the heck is puka nicoa could you include devontae adams despite
33:35being a vet in that conversation as well if you want to talk about consistent performance despite
33:41some mediocre quarterback play prior to last season and what we expect moving forward once a contract
33:47extension is signed jerry mcloran might want to be involved in this conversation as well but for me
33:53it is justin jefferson drs every fully healthy year for the five years that jjet has been in the nfl
34:01he's had at least 1400 receiving yards he is the current career leader in nfl history in yards per
34:08game at 96 and a half he led the nfl in 2022 and gave a thrill to the calvin johnson record of 1809
34:17receiving yards that's what jjet put up in 2022 the sixth most we have seen in a season
34:22all time jamar chase though coming off a feat that not many have accomplished a triple crown winner
34:28last year that is leading the nfl in receptions yards and receiving touchdowns 127 1708 yards in 17
34:39touchdowns last year to me drs it's one two you want to put jamar chase i'm not going to pound my fist
34:45into the table and call you a doofus i would have justin jefferson slightly edging out jamar chase
34:50to top the list and by the way like again we love lists because that's just one person's list
34:55or opinions here that you know hey i'm going to take some feedback but malik neighbors gets a lot
35:00of respect at seven like i'll go brian thomas jr over malik neighbors i'm just being honest i mean
35:03you talk about some lsu like bard and burners there you go and right puka naku like mike evans is a
35:08really good wide receiver it's a thousand every year but are we looking at mike evans like six years
35:12ago compared to like what we're getting out of mike evans now as a top 10 that's not correct i'd take
35:16any day of the week over mike evans and most people should i love mike evans mike evans going
35:21to hall of fame but i'm not taking mike evans ninth over puka naku and or brian thomas jr sorry not
35:27going to do that like garrett wilson getting respect for what reason like he's in the top 10 give me
35:31brian thomas jr above garrett wilson as well oh i like garrett wilson up there but listen that's part
35:38of the disagreements that we have the rest if i asked you uh yesterday if i asked you yesterday
35:44who is going to start week number one for the tennessee titans cam ward or will levis what would
35:49you have said it's cam it's not even close like it's like it's not a there's no race like we're
35:55not lining up to a starting line if that may can i get any more detail than that there's no race like
36:00one guy is automatically has the bye week on to being the starting quarterback yes cam ward cam ward
36:06cam ward from the time february came around at the draft combine was going to be the week one
36:11starter for the tennessee titans in 2025 we shared the breaking news about will levis and he is out
36:16for this year undergoing shoulder surgery there was this follow-up report tweet from espn's adam
36:23shefter with will levis out for the year number one overall pick cam ward is now poised to become the
36:29titan's starting quarterback the spite of the team is not named does he let's stop climbing's account
36:34live right here on this monday on the early line on sports grid it is a full slate monday
36:47around major league baseball and i promise we will preview those games including some critical
36:53contests a divisional duel between the blue jays and the yankees as they battle for the top spot
36:59in the american league east the national league cy young race before our very eyes paul skeins on
37:05the bump at home against the detroit tigers zach wheeler on the bump at home against the boston red
37:12socks as well drs we almost by just one day had tarek skuble and paul skeins throwing against one
37:19another in a regular season game after the all-star game six days prior again we will get to major league
37:25baseball in just a moment joe friso are we ready for drs to uh play fashion police okay we're almost
37:33getting the steelers drs announced on this monday two days before they show up to training camp in
37:40the trove their 1933 throwback jerseys which they'll wear on sunday night football against the green bay
37:47packers on october 26th again anytime you do a throwback jersey in today's current climate
37:55it's going to look a little bit odd with the modern apparel with what we had from 1933 here it is as
38:01displayed as i believe on pat fryer muth if i'm not mistaken there is the 1933 throwback uniform again
38:10the steelers will wear on sunday night football against the green bay packers october 26th do not
38:16forget aaron rogers will more than likely be wearing that throwback jersey facing off against his former
38:22team in the pack for the first time in his nfl career fashion police mr right side
38:28what do you make of the steelers throwback uniform there's terms i like to use the throwback jersey
38:36which means we're going to throw back to a time where this jersey was amazing and the fans would
38:40love to see it again yeah and then there's what they call the pittsburgh steelers the throwaway jersey
38:44no idea why we're bringing this back looks absolutely horrendous and there's no reason now here's the
38:50best part about it maybe the steelers knew because i always know organizations to be calculated they're
38:54like hey you know what it's a downtime last week in sports everybody's going to release their uh
38:59preseason throwbacks for the season banger yeah after a banger after banger came out and the steelers go
39:05oh my goodness like if we put this out this week like people are going to laugh at us how bad these are
39:11so let's wait till it dies down and sports gets up almost like a friday news dump on a monday
39:15morning if that makes sense hideous uniforms here like can't you just throw back to the terry bradshaw
39:21like like 1970s type uniforms that we're used to on the pittsburgh ceas which the san francisco 49ers
39:27do sometimes like those jerry rice jerseys of like the late 1980s early 1990s like those are the ones you
39:33love to see it doesn't have to go back to 1933 but these uniforms are disgraceful they're ugly and
39:39there's no point of reference where people see like oh yeah that's the steelers that i grew up with
39:44nobody grew up with that and there's a reason why those jerseys went away a long time ago they should
39:50be they put ben you know what the jersey set right there should have a grave and a tombstone that's
39:57buried in the ground that says here these lie in 1930 and they died in 1930 never to be brought back
40:04up horrendous and by the way the fact that you looked at this uniform ben are like i don't even
40:09know if that's pratt pratt my pratt fryer moved at this point which i can't even say that's how bad
40:14the jerseys are we can't even say the player's name or understand who it is because how bad that jersey is
40:19to me it looks like what uh the team in the dark knight rises war as they return the opening kickoff for
40:28a touchdown before the stadium was well it's just called what it was bombed by bay yeah right that's
40:35what it looks like to me at the very least we have seen we have seen the steelers where the bumblebees
40:41before that has been contentious hackers in response where they're like 1920s or 30s throwbacks for the
40:49acme packers you hate those let's get something straight on this too let's get something straight on
40:55this the fact that we had to see all those years with that idiot coach mike mccarthy back in the day
41:00we're in the acme packers like skullcap ski cap here the one of the worst uniforms nobody remembers
41:06the packers as the acme packers call them the packers the acme packers like don't even get me
41:12started because if they wear those two mustard green pea stained uniforms against each other they'll
41:18deserve each other two of the worst uniforms ever to make a comeback like nobody oh i love the packers
41:24with the acme packers uniform horrendous look keep remember the philadelphia eagles came up opening
41:29day with the minneapolis the lakers uniform that would have been tarred and feathered and just
41:35sent into a grave itself as well leave those stupid uniform you should be able to throw back before what
41:40like 1960 like just leave those uniforms dead and buried back in the day because they could first of
41:46all they couldn't even afford materials they probably just made things and piecemealed them together
41:50like get out here and here's your jersey it's not cool it looks terrible like a burlap the things
41:56that really get a rise out of my co-host are the best things in the world all right can we talk nlb now
42:04no we'll get the major league baseball i got one more thing jeremy fowler put out a tweet here i want to go
42:09no listen to this listen to this if you are a player in the nfl ben when let me ask you this
42:15when are you allowed to retire like when are you allowed to let me just ask you that question you're
42:20an nfl player what does retirement mean like go ahead like explain to me and then i'll tell you why
42:25i'm giving you this information on this tweet like when in the time of the year or like how long in my nfl
42:33career correct like is it acceptable like lane johnson comes out today and he's like you know
42:38what i'm going to retire as a philadelphia eagle i just can't go anymore would you accept that as a
42:43retirement from the nfl yes okay perfect that's one to set it up well now we have free agent defensive
42:51tackle khalil davis has has decided to retire per his agent as a tweet is that a retirement where nobody
42:58wants you like and you just retired like could i go out and say you know i always wanted to be an nfl
43:04player and announce my retirement today because you can't retire nobody wants you right i'm retiring
43:09from my like a person a 25 year police officers like i got my 25th year i'm retiring yes you are
43:16but like if you were never a police officer you can't retire as a police officer if nobody wanted you
43:21at that point hey i got fired yeah i'm just gonna retire as a police officer now you can that's not
43:25retirement is it retirement is when you willingly will give up you were right to work because you
43:31had a job then you're going to retire if you don't have a job how do you retire
43:35khalil davis great nebraska corn husker let me just say that right here i do hear the point though drs
43:45if you are a free agent and not even like a 38 year old free agent that now it's just the end
43:50of your tenure does it feel like a retirement or just that nobody really wanted you out there
43:57and vecchio a lot of conversation here in the later stages of the nfl offseason some teams have reported
44:02for training camp 30 of 32 by the end of the day tomorrow all 32 by the end of wednesday around the
44:10top 10 qb list that's how you fill the offseason right you need some debate you need some conjecture
44:15you need some conversation how about the top 10 wide receiver list that came out late last week
44:21number one jamar chase number two justin jefferson tyreek hill cd lamp a.j brown amin ross saint
44:28brown malik neighbors nico collins mike evans and garrett wilson that is the order as voted on vecchio
44:35by nfl coaches executives and scouts tom you said in a break on friday when we had you on to end out
44:42last week on the early line you guys seen this wide receiver list it absolutely stinks when did
44:48you have the biggest issue so most of the players i agree i should absolutely be on that list it comes
44:54down to you know ordering and and you know some of the the notes that they put with this list overall
44:59one garrett wilson shouldn't be there i think he should be in that like honorable mention category
45:03and we should have in that area tyree kill a little bit too high for my liking saint brown
45:09the lowest ranking on saint brown on on this exec is unranked that isn't again as i said last week
45:17with hearts that isn't unacceptable this is unforgivable what is he he's played literally
45:21nearly every single game since he's entered the nfl four straight years of 90 plus receptions three
45:28straight years of over 100 receptions three straight years of 1100 yards or more and i know people like
45:33to call he's a slot merchant who cares he's picking up yards and he's picking up first downs like the most
45:37important thing to move the offense down the field so i'm okay with the list overall but showing that
45:43saint brown is unranked saying that aj brown is unranked as their lowest what are we doing here
45:48by the way let me ask you a quick question too because i do like malik neighbors he had a really
45:53good rookie season absolutely i don't think neighbors should be up at number seven like the
45:57one of my biggest gripes was brian thomas june i thought was phenomenal last year getting left off
46:01that list but i like we went right to garrett wilson because i like garrett wilson but if you just get
46:05the nod because he's has more years than a couple of the younger guy like puka naku and not being on
46:10this list when when puka's healthy you can't stop that guy tom right and listen i i we can make a lot
46:17of cases for garrett bus listen well every year has been in the league thousand plus receiving yards
46:22and he's done so with bottom of the barrel qbs like let's just so he is producing in spite of what the
46:28jets so there's absolutely reason for him to be there but
46:31but puka naku i think is deserves just that step ahead so garrett wilson yes again there's the same
46:38thing i said about um you know jane daniels last week ben it's like next year could we be having
46:42this conversation you know next year do we see maybe mike evans take a step back i don't think so
46:47he's like literally the definition of consistency do we see brian thomas jump ahead of some all those
46:51things are in play garrett wilson deserves mention as in the honorable mention i just don't think he's on
46:56that top 10 right now quickly vecky we're going to get to our top 10 qb lists and who you agree with
47:03most if i asked you best receiver in the nfl jamar chase justin jefferson who do you give the nod
47:08chase it's like a 1a 1b though yeah i we basically said the same between drs and myself and in our fade
47:15the public poll you want to say one over the other great i think they're one and one a one and two
47:21and a clear separation atop the list all right top 10 qb lists that's really been the buzzworthy
47:27conversation vecchio here is mine donny do you want to read yours or would you rather me just
47:32read yours for you because they're pretty similar and then ask tom who he likes the most yeah yeah
47:37they didn't drop down my top 10 list so i don't know what it is so please read mine for me
47:41goodness gracious all right so here is mine vecchio as it looks drs and i have the same exact top
47:50five in the same exact order yes patrick mahomes josh allen lamar jackson joe burrow and jalen
47:56hertz in mine i have jared goff matthew stafford justin herbert jaden daniels and dak prescott
48:02donny's bottom five justin herbert jared goff baker mayfield jaden daniels like and like you
48:09stafford of the top 10s pretty similar vecchio between donny and myself whose do you agree with
48:15most um i really don't i don't have an i'll put it like this i don't have an issue with either one
48:21i i i feel like i'll put it like that i um i don't mind seeing baker on that list
48:28you know the her the herbert thing again i think it should be there in terms of talent but
48:34you know stafford do we give him the uh pedigree because he's one slightly ahead of herbert do we
48:40give again goff the pedigree in the playoffs yeah he's never gotten too soon but he's at least
48:44one games in the playoffs was really comes down to so herbert a touch too high for me but again
48:50as i said last week from a talent perspective he absolutely should be there i think again no issues
48:55with them overall give me baker and goff and maybe stafford slightly ahead of herbert still
48:58there you go all right i like it that's what i'm gonna say that's the follow-up right there we love
49:05it we like it we love it we want more of it that's it yeah no monday no disagree
49:10you're going to ask tom how many things about the eagle superbowl ring
49:13you're fresh out of topics
49:15yeah how about that tom come on i mean it like the little things come out on the front like that's
49:21that's cool enough yeah they're not things they're wings they're wings
49:24i'm not getting worked up over because i'm not an eagles fan but i do think they're cool
49:31yeah see that winners this is what we do monday show fantastic why don't we just let you take
49:38off here my friend and go host money line right like it's basically what you did in this segment
49:42anyway so like what a show some are saying maybe the best show on the new era of the tel started
49:49today it's fantastic the vibes have never been higher and i love tom's on i love ben's on we're
49:54gonna do it again tomorrow how about that before i head off and fade away into the radio
49:58oh well you got to do that now every day peace deal right next
