00:00He was the first person to buy me a bicycle since my parents bought me a bicycle.
00:05Welcome to Ms. Mojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the most endearing,
00:09heartfelt, and or amusing stories about the late actor and comedian Robin Williams.
00:14The more I didn't laugh, the more insane he got.
00:17It would make fun of him.
00:18Oh, this one doesn't want to laugh.
00:21Number 10. A Funny Trip to Canada
00:23Who wouldn't have wanted Robin Williams to come and stay with them?
00:26Martin Short remembers the story of his friend visiting him in Toronto.
00:30This included a wild show at Second City,
00:32with a stage fall that left Williams' linen pants dirty.
00:35And then he fell off the stage at one point.
00:37And not because he was an ebrier or anything, he just, he didn't know the stage,
00:40and he was like, and he fell on a table and it turned into a joke.
00:44Short's wife Nancy then put the pants through the wash and made things more interesting.
00:48This shrank the clothes and prompted a funny line from the American comedian.
00:52And he said, oh, I know what's going to happen.
00:54I'll go home and I'll say to my wife, I swear I didn't have sex with anybody,
00:56I don't know why my pants is a four-inch short.
00:58Short tells the entire story in a beautiful way, with a loving and tender tone throughout.
01:04The tale highlights the icon's timing, joie de vivre, and his one-of-a-kind spirit.
01:09And then one night, he just flew to Toronto.
01:11With no luggage.
01:14And no money.
01:15He just had a credit card of about $40.
01:17Number 9. Remembering Old Times
01:19Like many other comedians, David Letterman was impressed by Robin Williams.
01:24The host remembered his early years in comedy when he first saw the soon-to-be Mork and Mindy star.
01:28You know, we were all out there at the comedy store and we wanted to, you know, make people laugh.
01:34We wanted to get on The Tonight Show.
01:35We wanted something because we all felt that we were funny.
01:39With his own signature wit, Letterman talked about seeing the comic on stage.
01:43It was clear to him that Williams was special, talented, and near impossible to describe.
01:48And all of a sudden, he comes up on stage and you know what it is.
01:52It's like nothing we had ever seen before.
01:55The presenter brought a natural delivery to the clip,
01:57giving audiences a front-row seat to an amazing moment in comedy history.
02:01It's hard to imagine a time before anybody knew the man in question.
02:04With some further insight,
02:06the late-night personality revealed the origins and evolution of an icon.
02:10And then he finishes and I thought,
02:13oh, that's it, they're going to have to put an end to show business because
02:15what can happen after this?
02:19Number 8. Shouting Out Mork
02:20For this segment, interviewer Jake Hamilton talks goodwill hunting with Matt Damon.
02:24This inspired some awesome tales about filming with the one and only Robin Williams.
02:29Flooded with memories,
02:30Damon recalled the Boston public's reaction to the Dead Poets Society star.
02:34Yeah, I remember shooting in the park with Robin though,
02:36and it was, at the time, it was so funny because he was like the most famous guy in the world,
02:41but what people would shout was,
02:43Mork! Mork!
02:45He stated that people would shout out the comedian's early TV roles.
02:48It's an endearing story, showcasing the varied reactions that the legend inspired.
02:53You're not a priest!
02:55Who are you?
02:56I am Mork for Mork!
02:57No, no, no, no!
02:58Even with all of his success, the performer still got love for being Mork.
03:02The Bourne star doesn't miss a beat, reminiscing or finding a moment to salute his former movie therapist.
03:08Your move, Chief.
03:13Number 7. Bus Trip
03:14On an episode of The Tonight Show,
03:16Jimmy Fallon shared stories about Robin Williams with guest Billy Crystal.
03:20This included a notable bus trip full of several high-profile stars.
03:24Fallon also remembered when Williams riffed about his own film career.
03:27Robin goes, he goes, with the bomb sniffing down, he goes,
03:29Oh, I hope there's no copies of my movies on this bus.
03:32When a bomb-sniffing dog came aboard,
03:34the Goodwill hunting star started making fun of his less beloved movies.
03:38The subject came off as self-effacing,
03:40willing to critique himself in order to entertain others.
03:43You know, it's the greatest mind I've ever been around,
03:47because it was so terrifyingly fast.
03:50It was both a funny story and one that highlighted the performer's quick-witted nature.
03:54With Crystal and the host laughing,
03:56this memory felt like a perfect tribute to a brilliant comic.
03:59You know, it's a feeling you get, you know?
04:01Like when you go bowling and you know you're in somebody else's shoes?
04:04That's the one.
04:05Number 6. Jeff Bridges Eulogizes Robin
04:08I like New York in June. How about you?
04:14During a press conference for The Giver,
04:16Jeff Bridges took a moment to reflect on the recently departed Robin Williams.
04:20While working through his state of mind,
04:21he shared his memories of filming The Fisher King together.
04:24A certain scene in particular stood out in his recollection,
04:27one shot at 4 a.m. in Central Park with just the two of them.
04:31It finds Robin Williams' character advocating an unusual method of mental exercise.
04:36I'm cloud-busting, Jack.
04:37You ever done it?
04:38You lie on your back,
04:39and you concentrate on the clouds,
04:41and you break them apart with your mind.
04:42It's wild.
04:43No, but you have to be nude, though, Jack.
04:44You can't do this.
04:44Because you can't diffuse the psychic energy.
04:46As Bridges describes it,
04:47William's naked frolic was mostly improvised,
04:50making it a classic and endearing representation
04:52of the unrestrained joy he so often brought to his work.
04:55The fact that it was at the front of Bridges' mind so many years later
04:58speaks to Robin's indelible presence on and off the screen.
05:02It's very beautiful, isn't it?
05:07Number 5. Pierce Brosnan recalls Robin's improv.
05:11For any fans of the movie Mrs. Doubtfire,
05:13this story makes it sound even better.
05:14Pierce Brosnan talks to Conan O'Brien
05:16about his work alongside Robin Williams.
05:18You worked with him in Mrs. Doubtfire,
05:21which was a massive hit.
05:23What was it like?
05:23What was your experience working with Robin?
05:25Oh, it was mighty.
05:26I mean, I was such a fan of this man's work
05:28and Sally Fields, who's in the movie.
05:31Needless to say,
05:32the collaboration seems both extraordinary and super funny.
05:35The former James Bond describes shooting the dinner scene
05:38and listening to his co-star improv.
05:40And we did a sequence where it was my close-up.
05:43They sent the kids away and he just let it rip.
05:47I mean, he was just so foul-mouthed and funny.
05:50Not holding anything back,
05:52Williams apparently said some truly dirty ad-libs.
05:54Brosnan even provides an impression of the character
05:57while fondly remembering the experience.
05:59And, oh, she likes a lot of rubber.
06:01And, oh, she likes a good spanking.
06:03Oh, really, you know, woof, woof.
06:06Oh, dear, oh, dear.
06:08And you're just trying to get the take.
06:09The comedian seemed eager to get his fellow actors going.
06:12He could have just phoned it in,
06:14but he clearly wanted other performers to have fun.
06:17Number four, Conan's Bike.
06:18After Conan O'Brien's troubled stint on The Tonight Show,
06:21he received an unlikely gift from Robin Williams.
06:24The older comedian set O'Brien up
06:26with a unique biking experience.
06:28A bunch of years ago, five years ago,
06:30I went through publicly kind of a bump in the road
06:32and I was feeling a little low.
06:34Out of the blue, Robin Williams buys me a bicycle.
06:39Eventually, the host came to find
06:41that he'd been given a ridiculous and noticeable rig.
06:44It was decorated in an absurd way
06:46that celebrated the recipient's Irish roots.
06:48It looked like a Mardi Gras parade.
06:50It did.
06:50It was beautiful and really top-notch.
06:53Yeah, but it was bright orange and bright green
06:56and had shamrocks on it.
06:59The host goes on about the funny joke,
07:00but also mentions the generosity of it all.
07:03It goes to show that Williams could be such a versatile guy.
07:06While he loved to make people smile,
07:08he also wanted to be supportive.
07:10He had just that amazing spirit of fun.
07:12The generosity, but also the fun at the same time.
07:15And so often, I would just look at that silly bike
07:18and think, what a wonderful spirit.
07:21Number three, Ron White gets help from Robin.
07:24During a struggle with sobriety,
07:25Ron White got some much-needed help from Robin Williams.
07:28The former received some comedy pointers
07:30and laughs from the latter over lunch.
07:32And we didn't spend one second talking about
07:34the amazingly boring story of sobriety.
07:38We talked about jokes and comedy and stand-up.
07:41While it didn't last long,
07:43the meeting had a big impact on White.
07:45The storyteller gets emotional about the memory
07:47as he recounts it.
07:48It shows that the older comic took the time
07:50for somebody else,
07:51giving them support when they needed it.
07:52Nope, he didn't know me at all.
07:55But he would come out and try to help me
07:57through this little tiny struggle
07:58that I was having.
08:00It's even harder for White to talk about it
08:02given the news of Williams' death.
08:04Listening back,
08:05the megastar's far-reaching generosity
08:07is hard to quantify.
08:08And I know that sobriety didn't work out
08:10for Robin or me, either one.
08:13But so, and that doesn't make the story
08:16any less special to me.
08:18Number two, helping Ethan Hawke get an agent.
08:21While filming Dead Poets Society,
08:23Ethan Hawke was a young actor
08:24dedicated to his craft.
08:26His serious work made him the comedic target
08:28for Robin Williams.
08:29On The Graham Norton Show,
08:30the Training Day star talked about
08:32a pivotal time in his life.
08:33He would just improv constantly all day long.
08:36And the more the crew laughed,
08:38the more he would...
08:38Encouraged he was.
08:39He would go,
08:40and I was really wanted to be a serious actor.
08:44He thought he was getting picked on,
08:45but he was really being prepared for greatness.
08:47The comedian eventually hooked his co-star up
08:49with an agent.
08:50And I got this call,
08:52and it was from a big Hollywood agent.
08:54You know, this guy says,
08:55I'm Robin Williams' agent,
08:56and he says that you're gonna be somebody,
08:57and that I should sign you.
08:59Williams was apparently impressed enough
09:01to help out the next generation.
09:02Not only that,
09:03the same representative stayed with Hawke
09:05for many years after.
09:07It just goes to show that the leading man
09:08was a mentor on and off screen.
09:11We don't read and write poetry
09:13because it's cute.
09:15We read and write poetry
09:17because we are members of the human race,
09:19and the human race is filled with passion.

09:38Number 1.
09:41Protecting Nathan Lane
09:42In 1996,
09:44Nathan Lane and Robin Williams
09:45starred together in the modern classic
09:47The Birdcage.
09:48They both went on the Oprah Winfrey show
09:50to talk about the project.
09:51Before the interview,
09:52Lane mentioned not wanting
09:53to talk about his sexuality.
09:55I had been out since I was 21.
09:57I finally got a big part in a movie,
09:59and I didn't want to make it
10:00about my sexuality.
10:03Williams took this to heart
10:04when the segment took a turn
10:05towards more personal questions.
10:06Rather than letting Winfrey
10:08go into an uncomfortable area,
10:09the comedian distracted the host
10:11with his wild antics.
10:13Girl, you changed
10:13just in the middle of that sentence.
10:16I don't know.
10:17I'm telling you.
10:20Don't make me come out there.
10:22He helped his co-star out
10:23by being wacky
10:24and keeping the audience happy.
10:25Deep down,
10:26the legend also protected a friend
10:28from further interrogation.
10:29Robin was just the greatest person,
10:32just such a beautiful,
10:35sensitive soul,
10:36and so kind and generous to me.
10:39Did we forget another amazing story
10:41about Robin Williams?
10:42Let us know in the comments below.
10:44It's not even two months,
10:46and just even saying he was
10:48is very hard for me.
10:49I'm sorry.
10:50And for all of us.
10:51God bless you.
10:58You are okay.
