00:00A retired U.S. admiral says that United States Armed Forces should slowly be integrated
00:06into Taiwan's largest annual military exercises.
00:10The HK exercise series should become bilateral over time.
00:15It should integrate U.S. naval forces, U.S. air forces, U.S. ground forces.
00:20Montgomery was talking about Taiwan's annual Han Guang military exercises.
00:25This year's live-fire drills, which were the longest ever at 10 days and 9 nights, wrapped up on Friday.
00:32Taiwan also integrated its largest ever number of reservists into this year's exercises,
00:37a move that Montgomery also praised.
00:40And to see 20,000-plus reservists is important.
00:43Over time, Taiwan has to redesign their active-duty reserve balance to get it right,
00:48but this is a great first step.
00:50This year's exercises were about twice as long as last year's.
