00:00It's okay.
00:10It's okay.
00:24Mom.
00:25What?
00:30See?
00:41Everything's fine.
00:52Okay, stop.
00:53Stop, stop, stop.
00:55We're here?
00:56Yeah.
01:00Ashley, that's a bit extreme.
01:01Mom, it's not worth the risk.
01:19Want to move?
01:26Thanks, buddy.
01:27Oh, uh, thanks.
01:48Maxi!
01:49Hey!
01:49Don't do that!
01:50Wait, did you say something?
01:52That's what I saw.
01:53Yo, where is that?
01:55What's up, man?
01:55I see we have a new student.
02:07Please, stand.
02:08Tell us your name.
02:13My name is Ashley Evans.
02:16Hopefully you're not too far behind in the curriculum, but I'll get to you.
02:19Just have a seat there.
02:19Well, it's always nice to have some fresh blood here.
02:23Let's turn our textbooks to page 207.
02:29History is always in the making.
02:32What will your history be?
02:41Uh, nothing, what's up?
02:43Watch it.
02:43Oh, hey!
02:44Watch it!
02:47Uh, here.
02:48Thanks.
02:49Yeah.
02:50Uh, I'm Max.
02:51Ashley.
02:52What's your name's class?
02:54Uh, Spanish.
02:55Cool.
02:56And I got drama.
02:57I hear there's a new teacher today.
03:04Later.
03:05Hey.
03:05Well, welcome.
03:07I'm really looking forward to hearing what you've been doing in drama.
03:11Um, so what play have you been working on this semester?
03:19Anyone?
03:23Oh.
03:28Honey, can you hand me a tomato?
03:29Oh.
03:29Oh.
03:30Oh.
03:30Oh.
03:30Oh.
03:30Oh.
03:30Oh.
03:30Oh.
03:31Oh.
03:31Oh.
03:31Oh.
03:31Oh.
03:31Oh.
03:31Oh.
03:32Oh.
03:32Oh.
03:33Oh.
03:33Oh.
03:33Oh.
03:34Oh.
03:34Oh.
03:37So, how'd it go today?
03:40It was just school.
03:43Come on.
03:44Tell me about one class.
03:46Okay.
03:48Um, history was good.
03:51Really?
03:52Teacher seems kind of eccentric.
03:55Yeah, he was.
03:56Okay, look.
03:57It's not perfect.
03:58But we're lucky.
03:59You know, it's hard to find a position in the middle of the school year.
04:02So, does that mean we're lucky that the previous drama teacher
04:04died?
04:05Lemonade from lemons.
04:07Lemonade from lemons.
04:08Hmm.
04:19Uh-uh.
04:23Hmm.
04:26Hmm.
04:27Hmm.
04:28Hmm.
04:30Hmm.
04:30Hmm.
04:31Hmm.
04:31What's your problem?
05:00I can't believe you sent me in the back
05:01like that.
05:02I trusted you.
05:03Lisa, I didn't.
05:04I can't believe you went and did that.
05:08Hey, watch this.
05:25Hey, pick it up.
05:30Look out!
05:37All right.
06:04Got to give him credit.
06:07You know what I make for fun?
06:09The next leader of that's, um...
06:13Gang?
06:15Yeah.
06:16You know, you got Burnside right next to him,
06:17who's 95% mass, 5% brain.
06:20Then you got Carrie, the queen bee.
06:22Got a whole hive following her all the time, you know?
06:30Anyone ever heard of chivalry?
06:32Um, like when you open the door for a girl?
06:35How would he know?
06:36It's not like any girl's gonna get that close to him anyways.
06:38Okay.
06:40Protectors of the weak and defenseless and warriors
06:44against monsters who threaten this land.
06:47Lame.
06:49You know, that's what all the wannabe knights said.
06:51They were too busy being monsters instead of protectors.
06:55Maybe.
07:06Way to stay under the radar, Cashly.
07:09See, I tracked down this virus from my aunt's computer.
07:11Now, it's meant to intrude and collect information,
07:13you know, send it back to the sender.
07:14See, I found out where the source is coming from.
07:16Check that out.
07:17Oh, that's a pretty cool one.
07:19Yeah.
07:20Oh, watch it.
07:21Nick.
07:26Oh, watch it.
07:27Nick.
07:28Careful with my laptop.
07:29Yeah, I would've fried it, right?
07:30Would you cut it out?
07:31Oh, look, Max.
07:32It's your knight in shining armor.
07:33I'm sorry, in what world is this actually cool?
07:34Didn't you push enough kids around on the playground ten years ago?
07:36Yeah, well, later, losers.
07:51This is incomplete.
07:53Well, I don't get it.
07:55Well, maybe if you spend less time goofing off with your friends
07:58and more time actually paying attention you'd understand.
08:01Hey, that's mine.
08:15Hey.
08:18Here's where you're getting it wrong.
08:21That should be why.
08:22You're making the same mistake on every problem.
08:24Have you met a girl named Angie yet?
08:33Uh, no, I don't think so.
08:37Somebody dropped out of the play.
08:39I was thinking about using her as a replacement.
08:41Yeah? What role?
08:43Olivia. We're doing Twelfth Night.
08:47You'd be such a great Olivia.
08:51It's not even the starring role.
08:52Mom, I don't have time in my class schedule for drama, okay?
08:59I would like to introduce our new drama teacher, Ms. Johnson.
09:05She's going to help demonstrate these traditional dances,
09:08which we will then all learn.
09:11So, with dancing, there was real communication.
09:15Dancing.
09:19Allowed.
09:21For intimate closeness.
09:25And
09:25private conversation.
09:28Okay, everyone, come on up here.
09:36Now we're all going to try it.
09:42You know, Mr. Carlisle, I can't really risk injuring myself in the offseason, so...
09:46If you injure yourself doing this, then I would highly reconsider calling yourself an athlete.
09:50All right, come on, guys.
09:51Let's pair up.
09:52Nick and Ashley, Max and Wei, Brenna and Patrick.
09:57Come on up.
10:01All right, everyone ready?
10:03Grab your partners like this and follow us.
10:09Now, back in Civil War times, dancing was enjoyed by everyone.
10:12Hey, what makes you think that you know me?
10:20I don't.
10:22I know guys like you.
10:25What's that supposed to mean?
10:28Nothing.
10:29Can you just...
10:30Just dance?
10:31No.
10:33I want to know.
10:35Okay, fine.
10:36I know you lame, self-centered guys who always have to be on top.
10:39You can't go two seconds without putting someone else down.
10:42And why?
10:43Because in some perverse way, it makes you feel better.
10:49I'm not all those things.
10:52Fine.
10:53Prove me wrong.
10:54I had a kid cut himself on one of the pages of the play.
10:58Are you serious?
10:59I've led a lot for a paper cut.
11:00I had to send him to a school nurse.
11:03What is this?
11:05What?
11:06It came here.
11:07Well, I changed her address with the post office.
11:10Yeah, but Mom, they could track us here.
11:12They can't.
11:13Are you sure?
11:14They won't track us here, okay?
11:15They got what they wanted.
11:19Sweetie.
11:20It's just junk.
11:21It's just junk.
11:21It's just junk.
11:34It's just junk.
11:35They're worth it.
11:35Oh, I don't know.
11:36Oh, I don't know.
11:36Oh, I don't know.
11:36What are you doing?
11:38Oh, I don't know.
11:39Oh, I don't know.
11:40Oh, I don't know.
11:40Oh, my God.
11:40Oh, my God.
11:43Oh, my God.
11:44Oh, my God.
12:14Hey.
12:21What, are you following me now?
12:24No.
12:25I just saw you coming back here, and I thought I'd see what you were doing.
12:28Just exploring?
12:30My old school didn't have anything like this.
12:39Why?
12:41Why what?
12:42Why are you being nice all of a sudden?
12:47Why does it matter to you now?
12:50It doesn't.
12:55Okay.
12:56Um.
12:56Everyone around here knows me.
13:03But you don't.
13:06So?
13:08Well.
13:10It's like one minute you're getting all over my case, and then the next you're helping me.
13:13Am I supposed to apologize for that?
13:19No.
13:21I just.
13:23I don't care why.
13:24You did what you did.
13:26I helped you through math, okay?
13:27It's not that big of a deal.
13:28It is not that big of a deal.
13:29I mean, I wouldn't have helped.
13:34Oh, I know.
13:38Well, that's it for today.
13:41But I do have your next assignment.
13:44Now, here's what I want you to do.
13:45I want you to pick a place that has history.
13:49Any place at all.
13:50City hall, a museum, a monument.
13:53Go there.
13:54And write about it.
13:56And what it means to you.
13:57Um, how long does the paper have to be?
13:59Just two or three pages.
14:01Ugh.
14:02You can make it longer.
14:03Yeah, right.
14:04Do next week.
14:07Oh, I'm sorry.
14:25Oh, I'm sorry.
14:28You know Max, right?
14:30Why aren't you nicer to him?
14:32Me and Max grew up together.
14:34We're actually friends.
14:35Um, then he started getting into all this tech stuff.
14:39And, I don't know, that's not really how I roll.
14:41So, we drifted apart.
14:45I mean, it's like you said.
14:47People change.
14:50Yeah, but there's a difference between changing
14:52and changing for the better.
14:58Go ahead.
14:59Thanks.
15:05You could have swore my keys were in my purse.
15:12Found them.
15:16Buy the spaghetti sauce.
15:19Of course.
15:20Any special requests?
15:22Um, chips and cereal.
15:26Of course.
15:27Okay.
15:28Thanks, Mom.
15:31Hi.
15:33Hi.
15:35Um, is Ashley here?
15:42What are you doing here?
15:45Um, I was just gonna go do that history assignment.
15:50Have you started?
15:52Um, no.
15:55Well, I had a place if you wanted to go.
15:59Sounds good.
16:00Yeah, you should get out.
16:01You should get out a little bit today.
16:02Um, I'll go get my shoes.
16:11My mom's grandpa flew one of these.
16:13Yeah?
16:14Uh, B-17.
16:18Flying Fortress.
16:22Did he ever see any action?
16:26Yeah.
16:27He was, uh, he was flying over Germany when he was fired on.
16:32No way?
16:32What did he do?
16:33Yeah.
16:33What did he do?
16:36Well, it tore through the whole side.
16:39Trapping one of his crew in the tail.
16:40He had five of his men bail, just in case he couldn't land the plane safely.
16:48And the rest of the men used their own parachutes to hold the tail on.
16:54Well, were they okay?
16:57Yeah, he, uh, he landed the plane safely.
17:01Well, I was left of the plane.
17:05I gave him a medal for it.
17:08Wow.
17:10It's a really cool story.
17:13It's not just a story.
17:16It really happened.
17:17Why did you ask me to go with you?
17:33I don't know.
17:35I just thought you might like it.
17:37I did.
17:39I'll see you at school.
17:41Yeah.
17:42It's good to write your paper.
17:43I won't.
17:44Her great-grandfather saved the plane and the men in it.
17:49To me, it used to be some war that happened years ago.
17:52But to others, it's a real event.
17:55That changes your perspective.
17:57Just like seeing that B-17 change my perspective.
18:00It wasn't just a story.
18:02It was history.
18:11Well, hello.
18:13What brings you here?
18:14I'm just basking in a moment of triumph.
18:19One of my students is finally starting to get it.
18:23Oh?
18:24Who?
18:24Nick Thomas.
18:26Very good.
18:29What the?
18:30What is this?
18:31A fog machine.
18:32I use it in some of the plays that I do.
18:36You know, I'm just being careful, you know?
18:38What kind of mother would I be if I let my daughter go out with just anyone?
18:41And it appeared that the British were going to beat the Americans badly.
18:48The British sent their ships to cut off an escape route.
18:50All they had to do was trap-wise to make them surrender.
18:54And the whole thing.
18:55Oh, hey.
18:55Clumsy much?
18:55Oh.
18:56Hey.
18:56Clumsy much?
18:56Clumsy much?
18:57Clumsy much?
18:58Clumsy much?
18:59Clumsy much?
19:02Oh, hey, clumsy much?
19:10She pined and fought, and with a green and yellow melancholy, she sat, like patience on a monument, smiling at grief.
19:23Was not this love indeed?
19:27We men say more, swear more.
19:32But indeed, our shows are more than will.
19:37For still, we prove much in our vows, but little in our love.
19:46Hey, Mom, I can't find the keys to the...
19:48Oh, keys to the house.
19:51Oh, we were just rehearsing a scene.
19:53Isn't Viola supposed to step back there at the end?
19:57Yeah, and Orsino should probably just stay put.
20:00Yeah.
20:01I'm going to wait.
20:03Yeah.
20:09Did you see what that Ashley girl's wearing?
20:12Blah.
20:13Yeah, and her hair.
20:14Maxie!
20:16Hey, texting your mom?
20:18Let's see what you got here.
20:19Oh, let's buy something.
20:21That looks good.
20:23Oops.
20:24How about this one, Meg?
20:24Hey, I love to shop.
20:26Stop.
20:27Hmm.
20:28I need new shoes.
20:30Pink, maybe?
20:33Hey.
20:35Let him go.
20:38Hey!
20:39I didn't finish.
20:41You're done.
20:42Dude.
20:42Dude.
20:42What was that?
20:53You're freaking me out.
20:55It's nothing.
20:56Nothing?
20:56Did you see what you just did?
20:58Did you?
20:58I don't know what's going on with you, but just stop it.
21:05No.
21:06So you're going to turn the loser on me?
21:08Why do you care?
21:09I don't.
21:11I'm not hanging around for this new Nick.
21:13We're through.
21:15Have fun crying yourself to sleep tonight.
21:17I think I'll be okay.
21:23How's Ashley handling the move?
21:26As well as can be expected.
21:30About five months ago, she had a ton of friends.
21:34She's a great student.
21:36Well, as great as any teenage girl can be who spends more time on the phone than doing homework.
21:40But, um, suddenly, I mean, completely out of the blue, everybody started to hate her.
21:53She had no idea why so many of her friends were pulling away.
21:57And, well, anyway, we found this, um, profile online.
22:02It was linked to all of her friends, everyone from her school.
22:08Someone was pretending to be her.
22:11And they were saying all these horrible things about everybody else.
22:14And, of course, everybody thought it was Ashley.
22:17Well, who was it?
22:19Two of my students.
22:21Two girls.
22:22Were they stopped?
22:24No.
22:27Even some of the adults started hearing what Ashley was supposedly saying.
22:31Absolutely unacceptable.
22:33She should be suspended if I had any say.
22:35What kind of daughter have you raised?
22:37Well, you should be ashamed of yourself and her.
22:40Lies spread faster than truth.
22:45I mean, in everyone's mind, Ashley was guilty.
22:47The truth didn't matter.
22:48Kids started shunning her at school.
22:51Then attacking her.
22:54I thought it was being sat online by the other girls.
22:56There was just so much hate.
22:57How long did this go on for?
23:00Two months.
23:03What did the attorney say?
23:04It wasn't good.
23:06We'll just, this is gonna blow over, okay?
23:08We just need to wait.
23:08No, Mom, wake up.
23:09This isn't gonna blow over.
23:12Ashley!
23:16Ashley begged me to move.
23:18We left in the middle of the night, two days later.
23:24Julie, I'm so sorry.
23:26Don't be.
23:28Oh, not for me, anyway.
23:31Is there anything I can do to help, or...?
23:33No, just be patient with her.
23:36She's a good kid.
23:37Just gonna take a little while for her to open back up.
23:39Thanks for your help.
23:45Thanks for the pizza.
23:47Hey, um...
23:49Why'd those girls do it?
23:52Ashley was cast as the lead in a play.
23:54She used to love theater.
23:57I even had two other faculty members decide on who to cast,
24:00just to make sure I wasn't inadvertently giving her special treatment,
24:03but...
24:04one of those girls really wanted the part.
24:06Wait a minute.
24:08All of it because of that?
24:10Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.
24:14And we're talking about teenage girls.
24:22Hey.
24:24Hi.
24:25Um, what are you doing?
24:28Uh, just studying.
24:30Oh, would you like to take a break?
24:36Uh, sure.
24:39You ready for this?
24:44Yeah, I guess so.
24:46You're not scared of heights or anything, are you?
24:48No.
24:49Okay.
24:50So, what you're gonna wanna do is...
24:52is use these grips...
24:54and, well, just climb with your legs...
24:57Okay, this isn't rocket science.
24:59And try not to fall.
24:59Should be able to manage.
25:00You wanna race?
25:02Oh, yeah.
25:03Oh, yeah.
25:03Okay.
25:03You're pretty good at rock, ladies.
25:18Yeah.
25:18But, how is your balance?
25:22My balance?
25:23You're pretty good at rock.
25:24No.
25:24They say it's what you make.
25:27I say it's up to fate.
25:29It's woven in my soul.
25:32I need to let you go.
25:35Your eyes, they shine so bright.
25:37I wanna save that life.
25:40I can't escape this now.
25:42I'll let you show me how.
25:45When you do my feet, I'm looking into my heart.
25:50It's where my demons hide.
25:53It's where my demons hide.
25:56Don't get too far.
25:59It's where my demons hide.
26:04It's where my demons hide.
26:10So, I was at the mall the other day and I saw these really cute, like,
26:12lace, yellow.
26:30Hey.
26:32What's up with you?
26:34Don't give me any of that crap.
26:35You're not a saint.
26:36So, this whole change is what?
26:39A fake?
26:40Oya, are you just trying to score with that Ashley chick?
26:43Hey, man, watch it.
26:45Then what's really going on?
26:46Nothing.
26:47Yeah, I keep telling yourself that.
26:48You're being a wuss.

36:00Stop it
36:11That is enough
36:12I expect better behavior than this from the both of you
36:16You're the last two girls I would expect to be fighting
36:19She vandalized my locker
36:20I would never do something like that
36:22She probably did it herself
36:24Have you seen what she did at our old school to get attention?
36:26Oh stop it
36:27Look at all the mean things she's saying
36:29That's a lie
36:29Miss Tanner, I've grown up here
36:31You know me
36:32Does this sound like me?
36:33Ashley, I know you're new here
36:35And your mother was sketchy on your history
36:36But at my school
36:37We don't stand idly by
36:38While one student hurts another
36:40I didn't start this
36:41Oh please, you did it before
36:43Ashley?
36:46What's going on here?
36:47Max, did you see where Ashley went?
37:17Yeah, she went that way
37:18Thanks
37:20Wait, what's going on?
37:25Ashley?
37:27I'm done
37:27I can't do this anymore
37:30I spoke to Miss Tanner
37:35It's going to be okay
37:36Does she believe you?
37:43See?
37:44It's just happening all over again
37:45Why?
37:47Why?
37:47Why is this happening to me?
37:51I don't know
37:51But we're going to fight this
37:54Why, mom?
37:56There's no point
37:57Nobody believes me
37:58It doesn't matter what I say
37:59And you know
38:01None of this would have happened
38:03If it weren't for you
38:04Ashley, that's not fair
38:07No
38:07Mom
38:08You're the one
38:09You're the one that was always saying
38:09What a good student I was
38:11And praising me
38:12No wonder they came after me
38:13You know, if it wasn't you
38:15It was going to be somebody else
38:17You know how many times I wish that
38:20I bet you do
38:22That you're dating Mr. Carlisle
38:26Are you trying to make this worse for me?
38:28We're not dating
38:29It sure looks like you are
38:30Look
38:31Ashley
38:34If you want to blame me, fine
38:37I'm
38:37I'm okay with that
38:39But better yet
38:41Blame the girls that are at fault here
38:43Blame Alana and Mel
38:45And now Carrie
38:47If it makes you feel any better
38:48Blame everybody who never believed the truth
38:51I'm sure there's plenty of blame to go around
38:54But whatever you do
38:58Do not give them the satisfaction of tearing us apart too
39:03I'm sorry
39:09You know, maybe we
39:23We shouldn't have run before
39:26We gave them exactly what they wanted
39:27I'm so tired of it all
39:30I know
39:32I know
39:34I don't know what to do
39:36Well, whatever you do
39:40Whatever you decide
39:42If you stay or go
39:44Fight or run
39:46We're going to do it together, okay?
39:53Okay
39:54It's okay
40:04Thank you Kylie
40:15That was interesting
40:17Hey Nick
40:22You want to go see a movie later tonight?
40:25No
40:26Nick
40:28What?
40:30Have you seen Ashley?
40:31No
40:31And I don't want to
40:32I can't believe you think she'd do that
40:36And you don't
40:37I know her better than this
40:39I don't buy it
40:41Okay
40:41Well, you're the only one
40:42Look, man
40:43I saw it
40:44I saw what she wrote online
40:45Just because you heard something new about her
40:46Doesn't mean that it's true
40:48Well, it doesn't mean that it's not
40:49Does any of it even sound like the Ashley that you know?
40:52Hey, look
40:53She was pretending
40:54And why?
40:55I mean, obviously people hated her for the crap that was written
40:58If it was her
40:59Why wouldn't she take it down?
41:01Look, I don't know
41:02My guess is that it was a fake account
41:04Just look, whatever
41:05Remember that rumor you started about me?
41:10I'll put Principal Tanner on the FBI's most wanted list
41:13Yeah? So?
41:15What's spread faster?
41:17That rumor?
41:18Or me trying to say I didn't do it?
41:23Just give her the benefit of the doubt
41:35Can I help you?
41:56Um, yeah, is Ashley here?
41:59She wasn't feeling up to school today
42:00Is she here?
42:03Did she answer?
42:06No
42:06Then no
42:08Okay, look, I just
42:11I just want to talk to her
42:13I just want to talk to her
42:14I just want to talk to her
42:15I just want to talk to her
42:16I just want to talk to her
42:17I just want to talk to her
42:18I just want to talk to her
42:19I just want to talk to her
42:20I just want to talk to her
42:21I just want to talk to her
42:22I just want to talk to her
42:23I just want to talk to her
42:24I just want to talk to her
42:25I just want to talk to her
42:26I just want to talk to her
42:27I just want to talk to her
42:28I just want to talk to her
42:29I just want to talk to her
42:30I just want to talk to her
42:31I just want to talk to her
42:32I just want to talk to her
42:33I just want to talk to her
42:34I just want to talk to her
42:35I just want to talk to her
42:36I just want to talk to her
42:37Yeah, look, I was stupid, okay, I heard some things about you, and I just, I assumed they
42:55were true, but I don't know what happened to you before you moved here, but if I'm gonna
43:04hear it from anyone, I'd rather it be you. Well, you sure seemed like you knew everything
43:09at the party. I was stupid. You can be mad at me. I mean, obviously you are, but if it
43:22helps, throw it at me. Feel better? No. There's only one thing I can think of that'll help.
43:37Telling everybody off? Do you really think that they'd care? Maybe. I mean, I did. When
43:46you called me out on being, well, me. I just, I gotta leave this place behind.
44:02Thinking of moving? I want to. I don't know.
44:14Stay. Please. You have no idea what I'm gonna face if I stay. I'll be right here with
44:31you. You said it yourself. You don't even know what happened. It doesn't matter. I know
44:39you. I know you.
44:58Mine went further.
45:00Hey. Hi. I didn't know you played. Oh, uh, I don't. I just figured my life's pretty
45:17much a country song anyway, so might as well learn.
45:21Well, I brought you missing homework assignments.
45:26Hey. Thanks. Hey, you're welcome. Oh, and your, uh, your video presentation is doing history.
45:33Oh my gosh, I haven't even started on that.
45:36Well, would you like some help?
45:39Hey, Max. Yes, Nick. So, I was wondering if you could help us with something. Yeah, yeah,
45:48we're over at Ashley's. Okay. Let's have a new item. Okay. I think this could work. Yeah, it's
46:00perfect. I guess you're missing.
46:06Max, this is great. All right. Thanks. You sure you can pull this off? Oh, hacking into
46:12a school network is cake.
46:30Hey, you ready? I think so. Don't worry. You're gonna be great. Okay. Let's do this.
46:51All right. Continuing with our video presentations, history and your life. Ashley. Thank you.
47:21Hi. My name is Ashley Johnson, not Evans. I changed my name when I moved here, and I'll
47:27get to why later. But the event in history that I want to talk about happened in many
47:31parts of the world. It happened over 300 years ago and resulted in the deaths from anywhere
47:36to 50,000 to 100,000 people. In colonial Massachusetts, this event started in a village called Salem,
47:43where these girls started having fits, and these fits disturbed local authorities.
47:50What's wrong with these crazy girls? There's witches. No, three witches. They put a curse
47:55on us. Well, bring the witches here.
48:03So, you're a witch. No, I'm not. Too bad. That's the story we're going.
48:09No. But it's not true. Well, we'll see. Drown her. If she floats to the top and is alive,
48:16she's a witch. Well, if she survives that, then how do we execute her? Well, hang on.
48:23But what if I die from drowning? Well, then, I guess you're innocent.
48:31Well, I'm not. No. Ah!
48:36The girls' accusations led to a chain of hysteria. Over 200 people were accused of witchcraft,
48:42and 20 were hung. The colony eventually admitted that the witch trials were a mistake.
48:47But you're probably wondering how this bit of history relates to my life.
48:52I used to think that the history didn't really matter.
48:59You know that you could just forget the past, ignore it, and move on.
49:05But where I lived before I came here, it wasn't enough that I was a good person.
49:10All it took were those that wanted to ruin my reputation.
49:15I was accused of terrible things. And I did none of them.
49:20All it took were two girls and false accusations.
49:25In a matter of days, I lost most of my friends.
49:29A couple of my closest ones held on for a few more weeks.
49:32But people were believing the lie so much that they started attacking me.
49:39And other than my mom, I had no one to believe in me.
49:45So, we ran away.
49:49And it didn't help like I thought it would.
49:52And for those of you that have heard anything about me in the last few days,
49:56you already know that.
49:57And if history's taught me anything, is that there are those people out there that love to watch others suffer.
50:07Loyalty fades under pressure.
50:10And there are very few nights out there that are willing to fight for you.
50:16But they are out there.
50:18But you know what?
50:21And if history's taught me anything, is that there are those people out there that love to watch others suffer.
50:27Loyalty fades under pressure.
50:30And there are very few nights out there that are willing to fight for you.
50:33But they are out there.
50:37But you know what?
50:39My past, it isn't the end of the world.
50:45Better things are in store.
50:48I just have to fight for them.
50:50So I'm standing up.
50:52I'm not going to sit here and wait for someone to come forward and admit that they made a mistake.
50:58Enough is enough.
51:00I'm not going to bow down to those that get a thrill from watching me suffer.
51:03In Salem, all it took to destroy someone that you didn't like was to call them a witch.
51:10Today, you just make up some other lie.
51:16Essentially, I have been accused of being a witch.
51:20No matter what I say, the witch trials find me guilty.
51:24But I know what happened.
51:26So I guess it's up to you to decide whether you want to think and feel for yourself, or wait till I drown.
51:36Mystery is what you make of it, right?
51:39So I'm making sure that mine is the truth.
51:40So I'm making sure that mine is the truth.
51:42So I'm making sure that mine is the truth.
52:00Hi, my name is Ashley Johnson.
52:02You're a witch.
52:03No, I'm not.
52:05I was accused of terrible things.
52:07So I'm standing up.
52:09Enough is enough.
52:10History is what you make of it, right?
52:12So I'm making sure that mine is the truth.
52:17All it took were two girls and false accusations.
52:21In a matter of days, I lost most of my friends.
52:24My friends.
52:31Do you want to say something to me?
52:32Say it to my face!
52:36That's them.
52:54Say it to me.
52:55You're my kid.
52:56I've been dreaming of this.
52:57It's a joke.
53:02So...
53:05Now that things are fine with you and Ashley, um...
53:09Do you think it would crank up the awkwardness if you and I went out on a date?
53:15Yes, definitely.
53:25She's a strong girl.
53:28She can handle it.
53:29Besides, I think she likes this.
53:30Don't you like this?
