00:00Safar , the month of knowledge and wisdom, the month of running to the cave
00:16and seeking refuge from all that is other than Allah , the month of testing so that
00:23the heart can open and the hijab between us and the reality is the me.
00:36I am the veil that blocks me from Allah's Divinely Presence, from what Allah wants to
00:44show of every haqqaiq and every reality.
00:48Its harda , its veil, its wall, whatever you want to call is me.
00:55So my life was how to destroy the me, the nafs within me, the character within me.
01:02Not to raise it, not to glorify it but to bring it down so that the reality that Allah want
01:12to shine through so that I become your hearing, I become your seeing, I become the breath in
01:20which you breathe, I become the hands in which you touch, I become the feet in which you walk,
01:26I become the tongue in which you speak, a Divine mirror.
01:31But rid yourself of yourself and come to my Divinely Presence and a reminder for a story that
01:41awliyaullah give an example that a very powerful businessman wanted to go for hajj and in those
01:50times when you go for hajj you pay off all your debts.
01:56Most of the people they don't know you know how long it's going to take.
01:59They sell everything, liquidate and they take their life with them in a bag, bag of coins.
02:06This wealthy businessman wants to go for hajj, he tells his wife we're going for hajj, we make
02:10arrangements.
02:11He takes his bag of cash and starts to head out and thinks to himself that, why should
02:18I go alone?
02:20Let me find one of these Babaji's, I'll take him with me.
02:27So, he finds one of the peers, the shaykhs of the area, says, I'm going for hajj, why
02:33you don't come?
02:34I'll take you with me for hajj.
02:36He says, sure, no problem.
02:39You're inviting?
02:40I'm coming.
02:42He goes, they make their preparation, they get on their ship.
02:46This ship has to go all the way on its journey with the hajj.
02:50As they're sitting on the ship, the shaykh is sitting and looking at the man and the man
02:56is… has his safeguarding, his bag, his bag of nuts, his bag of cash.
03:04And he's opening this bag and keep playing with all his coins and his money.
03:10And his wife is sitting next to him and then he starts to look at it and he starts to count
03:15his coins.
03:16So, look how many coins I have, how many coins.
03:19And then he looks to the shaykh and says, oh shaykh, why are you looking at my bag of
03:25coins?
03:26You see the adab and the character of people.
03:33He says, is it that you want something, have all these coins, is there something that you
03:41want from it?
03:42He says, yes, if you're asking, I'll take.
03:46So, oh, what kind of shaykh is this?
03:51I thought, you guys are supposed to be pious guys and you don't want anything, you don't
03:56eat, you don't drink, nothing.
03:58You don't exist on this earth like a normal human being.
04:02And the shaykh just stayed quiet and he says, how much?
04:05If I was going to ask you from this bag of coins, how much would you want since you're
04:12putting your eyes on my bag of coins?
04:13He said, if you're asking, I'll take half, half, concrete people, you got very angry.
04:21Half my coins?
04:22Half my life saving?
04:24He said, if you're asking, half, half, he took one coin and threw it at him.
04:30This is enough for you.
04:32And then he put his coins, he hid him and he hid him in a compartment.
04:35Shaykh took the coin, he gets to put it in his pocket, at least one coin came from this
04:42adventure.
04:43And he's sitting with him.
04:45And the shaykh goes back into his zikr, his contemplation.
04:49And then Allah on this ship, the man begins to sleep, fall asleep.
04:54There are monkeys in the bottom of the ship because they take a whole cargo as they're
05:01adjourning.
05:02Allah inspired the monkeys on the bottom of the ship to release themselves.
05:07They somehow get out.
05:09The monkeys get out of the cage and start running all over the ship.
05:14Monkeys are running.
05:15One specific monkey, by order of Allah go grab the bag.
05:21The monkey grabs this bag where it was hidden, runs up the pole of the ship.
05:26At that time the man wakes up, he's having a heart attack.
05:30He starts to scream at everybody, the monkey stole my bag of cash, this is my entire bag
05:35of cash.
05:36I'm going on the journey of my life, I have nothing.
05:38He took everything.
05:39And the monkey is sitting there, open the bag and start to take the coins.
05:44And one by one, throw it into the ocean.
05:47He took another coin and the man is screaming, he take another coin and he throws it into
05:51the ocean.
05:52He took another coin, threw it into the ocean until there were no coins left.
05:57The man began to curse the shaykh, I don't know who you are, what type of curse you are,
06:03that I was going to go for hajj, I brought all these things.
06:07From the moment I met you, I faced nothing but difficulty from you.
06:11You came, you wanted even my property and now look, look, the monkeys came, they threw
06:15oh my god into the ocean.
06:20Shaykh just looked at him that this guy is getting very aggressive and angry, see he just
06:24got his zikr and walked.
06:26As he's walking, now it's like coming a storm for the boat.
06:30The wife is standing a little bit down, the shaykh whispers something into the wife's ear
06:35and then walks away.
06:37At that moment the ship hits, the wife goes overboard, goes right overboard into the ocean.
06:45The man is gone crazy now, says, you are truly the wrong cursed person, I lost all my money
06:53and now the ocean took my wife, gone, everything is gone.
06:57And the shaykh just went to the back and was doing his zikr and being calm and patient and
07:02the ship finally docked.
07:04As it's arriving to dock and to land, the man looks and he sees his wife on the shore.
07:11And she's just waiting there for her with a bag.
07:16And the ship stops, the man gets off, runs to his wife and says, I don't know what happened,
07:24the monkeys took all my money, they threw everything into the ocean and then you went overboard
07:29and flew, said, you don't know who that man is.
07:33Whatever Allah tested you with, as soon as he walked by me he whispered into my ear, you're
07:40going to fall but don't worry, we're carrying you.
07:43I hit, I went overboard immediately like a wind came from nowhere, picked me, took me, I don't
07:50know how I arrived, I landed on this shore and in my hand is this bag of coins.
07:59The man now doesn't know what to do, he has not the guts to apologize but the shaykh
08:03says, it's enough.
08:06This is where me and you we part.
08:08That you thought this process is going to be easy and you thought this journey to your
08:14life is to your Lord is going to be an easy prophet, is an easy process.
08:20Then when Allah inspire us to take a higher path, to take a path towards realities and
08:27make a hijrah because it's not just the hajj you do once, every day is our hajj.
08:34Every day is a hijrah towards Allah until you take your last breath and you're gone.
08:39When Allah inspire that you're going to take with these shaykhs, your way of Marifa and
08:47your reality, it's not coming easy.
08:51There's a price to pay, there's something going to be taken, Allah described I think
08:57in Surah Tawbah, there's a bargain to be made.
09:00Allah going to take your dunya from you because you didn't come for dunya, Allah takes
09:07your dunya from you and gives you your akhira in exchange.
09:13And it's a system that is an ancient system and it works.
09:18And if you check the lives of these shaykhs, everyone around them is from that reality.
09:25So, when they came into this town there was a construction guy and he was building and
09:31building and building and he built a very beautiful home.
09:36Remember the beautiful home with all glass, marble, staircase and he built with his own
09:42two hands.
09:43He built so, so much effort he put into that home and his wife even helped to build with
09:47him that home.
09:49And the home went.
09:52He thought he was… all sorts of thoughts he was going to have for that house.
09:57The house went, then that man took his family and they went to a shack up in the area.
10:06And it was a shack, it was literally 200 years old.
10:09And anyone who saw him said, how are you living in that shack that was so old and fallen apart?
10:16And he affirming his belief.
10:19Never once said, I don't know what the heck this path is because he's a noble background,
10:25noble ancestry.
10:27That never his heart changed, never his thought changed, never he thought, oh my god this is
10:32like a curse path, I'm going to lose everything.
10:35Just keep doing zikr, keep doing your practices, keep doing everything.
10:39And it was but a time and Allah opened a beautiful home.
10:43That somewhere out of nowhere the person came, the loan came, the paperwork came, they don't
10:49even know how it came.
10:51Let everything open for them.
10:53Allah is not in need to take anything because he wants it but he wants to test the people.
11:00Then there's another person from the jama'ah who comes and served all his life and served
11:07and never asked a fee.
11:08And all his family told him, why are you sitting there serving when you have an education and
11:13you could go out and you could earn money and you could earn this and you could earn that.
11:18And his consistency and his belief that I don't need any of that.
11:21Allah will provide, Allah sends to other people to provide.
11:26And in the end somebody passed away and they gave him a lot of it.
11:32When Allah says, I give you from places you never imagined means the life of the tariqah
11:37is real.
11:38It's not just stories.
11:39Ask the people's lives here of what Allah took from them, brought them down and then when
11:45Allah wanted brought them back up, Allah is not in need of anything.
11:52It's that we are in need to be tested.
11:54Is it you came for those things and you be like a monkey?
11:58You know how they chop the monkey?
12:00They put a hole in the tree and they put some fruits but it's only hole that's thick enough
12:06to put your hand like this, as soon as the monkey grabs his fist can't come out.
12:12Are you going to grab this world like that?
12:15Where the monkey was stuck and every hunter coming to kill him, means then they teach them
12:21that don't be attached to anything.
12:23This way is real, Allah will deflate and bring everything down and if Allah won't
12:28get it, He can bring everything back up but the path has a cost.
12:34Are you willing to pay the price?
12:36And even if you're not willing, if Allah enrolled you, your will, Allah will take it.
12:42It's much easier to give it and your life willfully than to run from your path and every type
12:49of hardship begin to follow.
12:52And that's why Allah make istiqam afu tariqah , keep your istiqam in the firmness
12:56of your tariqah and your way.
13:00After you keep your firmness, Allah will open like oceans of water upon the servant as a
13:06ni'mat and a blessing upon them.
13:08And every way and every understanding in that way because this when we describe Surat
13:15Al-Inshira and the understanding of inshira as an opening towards marifah that,
13:21wa rafahna laka dhikrak .
13:24By the time that Allah is crushing them from Ayatul Kareem before, as soon as they arrive
13:31and awliyaullah want to open wa rafahna laka dhikrak for the servant by order of Allah means
13:37he hit them in such a way that when they came back up they saw that everything is praising
13:45Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ, wa rafahna laka dhikrak .
13:50Because Allah shows the servant, I'm going to open your ears and the reality of your soul.
13:56When your ears open you see that Allah is describing, I have raised the unr and the
14:03zikr of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ throughout creation.
14:06You don't have ears to hear it but at that maqam and that station when they've been tested
14:13through those difficulties and Allah begin to open within their heart means their spiritual
14:18hearing, their spiritual vision, they realized everything is praising Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ.
14:31What did Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ see?
14:35When he said, I want to reach this maqam, I want to see you.
14:39When Allah crushed all of the nafs, crushed all of the desires, Allah said, we sent our glory
14:46upon the mountain, means at that moment he wa rafahna laka dhikrak .
14:53He went out and what he witnessed was the immensity of the light of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ.
15:00If you witnessed the light, it's enough that you understood the mentioning and the zikr
15:05of Prophet ﷺ.
15:07When Allah is saying, I've raised your status when Nabi Musa ﷺ didn't want,
15:12La hilli la la la Musa Rasulullah ﷺ, I don't want that.
15:17I want where the two rivers meet of La hilli la la Muhammadun Rasulullah ﷺ, I want to
15:23see you at that time when he got hit by that energy and that light he understood, wa rafahna laka dhikrak.
15:28And that what we said in the tafsir of Surat al-Ishara, the next ayah is what?
15:37Inna ma al-usri yusran.
15:38Inna ma al-usri yusran.
15:39Difficulty then ease.
15:41As soon as they enter now into…
15:48Inna ma al-usri yusran.
15:50Inna ma al-usri yusran.
15:51As soon as they enter into that ocean is like safar.
15:54So, safar is for the general people.
15:58That you want this love of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ, you want this reality, take this path of
16:05difficulty.
16:06Why Allah mentioning it twice?
16:07It's because it's not that you took difficulty, everything became easy and goodbye, thank you,
16:12I got my diploma.
16:13Allah said, no, no, here we go again, it's like a roller coaster.
16:16Here comes again difficulty and through every crushing is a ease, is a new muqam.
16:23Every crushing is a new muqam.
16:26Every crushing is a new muqam.
16:28This means the Prophet's understood that, that you have to be crushed.
16:33As soon as he understood that and want, وَرَفَانَّ لَكَ ذِكْرَكَ
16:38Allah said, then go to one of my servants, he's going to crush you.
16:41He's a Muhammadan representative and you wanted a knowledge of higher than what you understood,
16:49he will crush you.
16:50In the crushing, we will bestow these knowledges.
16:54This is the month of knowledge and wisdom.
16:57Only through the difficulty and the crushing can Allah bring out these knowledges and these
17:03blessings because the self will begin to crush and what happens is the divine mirror begins
17:09to open.
17:10That mirror has ulumul awwaleen ul-akhireen because it's a divine light.
17:15When Allah says, I'm going to be your hearing, is there a limit on what you can hear?
17:19It's hadith al-Qudsi, I will be the hearing of my servant.
17:24There's no limit to what they hear.
17:26I'll be the seeing means what kind of light Allah dressing their souls.
17:30If you can hear with this Qudra, see with this Qudra, what limit do they have of knowledges?
17:36The light already dressing them and blessing them.
17:39It means infinite capacity of which can't even be understood.
17:44So, we pray that in this holy month Allah dress us and bless us and that every difficulty
17:51is for a new station and a new opening.
17:54That Allah keeping everything to be beatific and everything continuously to be refreshing.
18:00And that it's a real path.
18:02Many of the people's lives who have been influenced by the shaykh, they were brought down and then
18:10brought back up.
18:11And their lives are a witness to the teachings and the reality of the shaykhs.
18:16Subhanahu rabbika rabbe alayhi, zata amma yasikun.
18:18Wa salaamu al mursaleen.
18:19Wa hamdulillahi rahb bil alameen.
18:20Bi hurmati muhammad al-mustafa wa bi siri surat al-Fatiha.
