00:00today because the whole Pro Circuit Kawasaki team have had to work on it. It hasn't been great
00:05across the board, so they changed some clutches. We saw it in Seth Hamaker last weekend. He got
00:10some improvements out of it, so they've applied it to these bikes. So keep an eye on these green
00:14bikes and see if they can get up front here in the start, JT. Thank you, Ellen. Levi Kitchen,
00:20he grew up literally just up the hill from this racetrack. He's going to be trying to get a good
00:24start with all of the benefits of the improvements that they've made as well. And keep in mind on
00:29this particular racetrack. The dirt in front of the gate is extremely hard. Bigger guys like
00:33Kitchen and Marchbanks won't be as penalized by soft dirt as they would at other racetracks.
00:39Yes, those Kawasaki's have been fast on the track, but not off the start this year. If they can get
00:44up front early, see if they can run with Danger Boy Deegan, the championship leader. And then there's
00:49Joe Shimoda on the 30, who beat Deegan two weeks ago. Deegan got hurt in qualifying. It's a rematch
00:55now. Here it is. Rives are up. Gates down.
01:07And it's the triumph out front. Second year ever competing in SMX for this storied British brand.
01:13It's the 22 of Jalik Swole with another good start.
01:16It gets a little turned down for what? Jalik out there. Good to see him back. This guy just came
01:21off an Achilles injury a few races ago. It's been fast, but love to see Jalik Swole out front
01:26on that triumph. Oh, yeah. Great personality on this kid, too. He is totally unfiltered.
01:30And boy, has he been riding well. Meanwhile, a big stack up behind him. Believe that is
01:35Ryder DeFrancisco. A rider who's been great at qualifying. Hasn't been able to translate
01:41it to the races. Has his chance. Hayden Diggin is third. Yep. That's the only problem for
01:46Jalik and Ryder D is that the number one's already up in third. And we know how he is
01:51on this racetrack a couple years ago. Really, the bounce back is what the rod that made Hayden
01:56Diggin, the way he was able to win that motor. So, you know, he's got the confidence. But
02:00Jalik's looking great out front. Yes, Diggin won here in 2023. And that really, in his rookie
02:05season, unlocked a new level. And he has not relented much since. But what a story for Swole
02:12coming back, as you said, from the Achilles injury early, about a month ago in Pennsylvania
02:17at high point. And they've got on a podium not far after that. And has been a front runner
02:22week after week for this new brand in motocross. They're very well established in road racing,
02:27Will. And it's not only the return from the Achilles heel rupture that's the problem.
02:33He's also suffering right now from a UCL, which is the ligament in the thumb. He did that
02:38at Southwick. So ever since the week after Southwick, several rounds ago now, he hasn't
02:43been able to ride during the week. Checking in with him today. It was all taped up. And he said,
02:47oh, as he goes down. And that won't feel good. He said, what? I don't need is crashes. That
02:52causes problems. Oh, boy, Will. And I believe he might be stuck under the motorcycle. Not sure
02:59what happened. Yeah, that was a hard hit from Jalik because he started to go double in that corner
03:03and went down. And the way he was laying there, hate to speculate it, might be a little bit
03:08more than being stuck. But yeah, we certainly hope not. And we'll get a moment to see what
03:13the situation is for the 22 as Ryder DeFrancisco out of Bakersfield, California, inherits the
03:19lead. Once one of the great prospects of amateur motocross in America. There they are. There
03:24is Swole now up and trying to shake it off. And being attended to by the Alpine Stars mobile
03:33medics. It's a series of doctors that follow the racers week to week. They know the riders.
03:38They know the type of injuries common in motocross. And hopefully Swole will be OK. And we have
03:44a replay of the crash for the early race leader. Yeah, talking about going from the top hasn't
03:50led a lap all year long and been out front. Now he's up there and he can put a little bit
03:53of water down. He's going to try to double in this little hip jump or actually loses the
03:58front end right there. You can tell they put a little bit of water down. And I heart this
04:01base here at Washougal. Tough hit for Jaleek Swole. Didn't look too bad, but I know how hard
04:06this ground is. Bumming for Jaleek. So James, with DeFrancisco out front, this is a battle
04:13that many had anticipated for years. Deegan and DeFrancisco, Southern California natives,
04:18pretty similar in age. They came through the amateur ranks. DeFrancisco a year older,
04:23often one would win one class, one would win the other. For Degan is absolutely translated to the
04:29pro side. For DeFrancisco, we've seen flashes of brilliance, but not the results. This is much
04:35more like it for the 25, Will. Yeah, and it's cliche. We say it all the time, right, Jason? But the
04:40start's so important. Talking to Ryder yesterday, you could see the anxiety on his face when he was
04:45even just thinking about it. He's like, I know that's what I need. All the pieces are there. Like you
04:49said, we've seen pace in fastest qualifiers in past rounds. And he said, I've just got to get out
04:54there. And he was sitting next to his teammate in the Gas Gas team there in Justin Barsha. And Barsha
05:00took over and he said, you've got this. He said, you just have to calm down and let it happen. And
05:06he just pointed over to his teammate. And he's like, okay, that's what I'll do. He almost went down to
05:10that same section that strolled in, James. Yeah, no, I was just thinking about what Barsha said. That's
05:15kind of a kettle calling the pot black on that, but calm it down. But Justin's been around. He knows
05:20what he's meaning. He's just meaning like, look, man, you've got this speed. Just let it come to
05:24you. And now you can start to see it in practice. It's coming to you, but his only problem, so is Hayden
05:29Deegan, he's coming to you right now. And Deegan already trying to make a move. They collide.
05:35And somehow DeFrancisco goes down, but Deegan stays up. Man, you can see that one coming. And when
05:41things are rolling your right way, it just happens. Hayden Deegan got so lucky right there.
05:47Unfortunately for Roderick, he got the worst in, but when things are rolling for you,
05:50you can escape those kinds of crashes. He crashed, but he stayed on two wheels on there. Hayden Deegan,
05:55that is. Honestly, James, that is symbolic in so many ways. So many of the supposed rivals that
06:01Deegan has been able to dispose of the last couple of years in his rise. And also how many times have
06:07we seen Deegan with near crashes or spectacular crashes that he quickly gets up from. And this
06:12is another one of those scenarios. Yeah, this is that hundred foot double that they just built
06:17now. These two lanes now. Hayden Deegan's going to go on the outside and these lines just, these lines
06:21just come together. And again, Hayden, both these guys got really lucky. Roderick D goes
06:26down, but he got lucky that it wasn't a lot worse. You can see these lines starting to come
06:29together. Total racing incident. But as you mentioned, now since Roderick D, he was out
06:36front. Every lap, he's getting that confidence. He's on the ground. So talking about Hayden
06:40Deegan continue to just build. Roderick D won't have that opportunity because he's in the back
06:45now chasing. There's been so many of those. They get a hook in him. It looks like something
06:49might be materializing. And whatever reason, Deegan is able to come out the better. Shout
06:55out to this rider. Dylan Schwartz in third of the 44. This is the Toyota of Redlands
07:00Bar-X Yamaha. They get support from Yamaha, but they are not the official factory team with
07:05the special parts. And this kid is getting better and better every week. He's always known
07:09for his strength and endurance. But the starts and the early race speed have been on display
07:14the last couple of races. Yeah. And Dylan has had some speed all day long. I would say
07:20this is kind of a breakout ride. He was second and third in the qualifying today. So he's
07:25getting that confidence and starting to close in on Joe Shimoda. Good ride to see from Dylan
07:29up here up front. And we mentioned at the top of this show, just before the gate drop,
07:35the starts for the Kawasaki's have been a problem. They continue to be. March Banks started around
07:4011th. He is in sixth. He's got this rider, Max Voland, on the muck off FXR Club MX Yamaha,
07:47another Yamaha supported team. Voland is running fourth. Then another one of the triumphs with
07:53Austin Forkner, who's starting to show some signs the last couple of weeks. Another rider,
07:58a Deegan rival, a rider with talent, beset by injuries, is running fifth. Then March Banks,
08:03the fast qualifier in sixth. Yeah. And you talk about Austin Forkner, you know, he's at this point,
08:09he's just trying to make every race. This rider has a lot of injuries. March Banks made the move
08:13on Forkner. Yeah. Gary's been fast all day long. So, you know, you talk about different positions
08:17where they are, being rivals as amateurs coming into pro. One's been injured a lot, and that's
08:22Austin Forkner just trying to make the races. So good to see him back up here. Fortunately for
08:27his teammate, he goes down. But right now, Austin's number one on triumph right now, as far as
08:32teammates. Yeah. Forkner on that 83 to triumph, his first top 10 of the season was last weekend.
08:37This guy has been through probably more adversity than anyone out here today. And that says a lot.
08:42In motocross, had a huge crash while battling Deegan for a win in Supercross last year,
08:48crashed onto the concrete of the stadium floor. And when they were checking him for concussion
08:54protocol, they discovered blood vessels in his brain that needed surgery, not related to the
08:59concussion. But he said it could have resulted in strokes, seizures, something much more serious
09:04to the sports injury. He has returned from brain surgery in a rebuild year. And we are starting
09:09to see signs of the old Austin Forkner speed last week with eighth and even better now in
09:16six.
09:17Yeah. It's a great opportunity to have him up here. Seth Hamaker coming through next.
09:22Will. Yeah. And Seth's battling injury himself. After last weekend, though, he tweaked his knee.
09:28I checked back in with him today while he was actually getting taped up from his physio doc.
09:32Asking him how it was. They got an MRI. Damage in there is a little bit of meniscus there and some bone
09:39bruising with a fracture on the top of his tibial plateau. So nothing that needs surgery.
09:44But the tape was substantial. We were joking that he was using more tape than he had any other time in
09:49the year because he's also got a shoulder injury going on. So he is very much looking forward to this
09:54two-week break as a few riders are to be able to refresh there and get themselves healthy.
09:59Yeah. Thank you, Will. He knocked the wind out of himself in a moto last week. Recovered
10:03from that only to tweak the knee later in the day. And that's the story. Potential for others
10:09and results for Hayden Deegan, who's flying high and getting away here at Washougal.
10:15Enjoy the sounds of motocross at the break with Peacock.
10:18Let's go.
10:48Go!
10:50Go!
10:51Get up!
10:52Go!
10:53Go!
10:54Go!
10:55Go!
10:56Go!
11:11Go!
11:12Go!
11:13Go!
11:14Go!
11:15Go!
13:16He does not relent and he's keeping Deegan somewhat in check in second.
13:20Yeah, we saw Hayden Deegan about a half a lap ago take a look back.
13:24Joe's still there and he's actually starting to close.
13:26But for those listeners on Peacock, you know, listening to Hayden Deegan's bike, you know, when he rods, he rods mad.
13:33You know, when I think about, you know, the old Snickers commercial where the guy has the attitude, they give him Snickers, he changed back to his person.
13:40Well, Hayden Deegan rides like somebody stole his lunch money and he hasn't ate for weeks.
13:45He's hungry.
13:46He's mad when he rides, and that's his whole attitude.
13:49But right now, Joe Shimoda is starting to close that gap.
13:52And we know how strong he is at the end of the moto.
13:55Yeah, that's Shimoda's best late in the race on that red Honda, keeping it close.
13:59Hey, we mentioned the SMX playoffs coming soon.
14:03They offer some of the most unique fan opportunities in sports.
14:06Get the inside track to the experience of a lifetime.
14:09Go to smxexperiences.com to learn more and become part of the action.
14:15The best part is when you get to be right there near the podium, which is pretty unique to this sport.
14:21Get the champagne shower.
14:24Yeah, you come to the playoffs, you get a lot of things outside of just great racing as well.
14:29Yeah, let's listen to Deegan over some of these jumps.
14:30You're talking about it.
14:32How he'll rev the bike.
14:33Coming up on that 100-footer here.
14:37Yeah.
14:43They all rev the bikes, but there's something different about the way it sounds for Deegan.
14:48Sounds like he's mad.
14:53I think he's going to be mad because look at this.
14:56Shimoda just continues to close.
14:59And a battle for the lead about to materialize here.
15:01The rider from Japan has caught Deegan.
15:03Yeah, you know, not only is Hayden revving his motorcycle, but I can tell he normally always revs it.
15:09But he's in like a lower gear.
15:11He's spinning up a lot.
15:12When I hear that bike, especially here at Washougal, he's losing a lot of time because of traction.
15:16So I don't know if he's upset because it's normally how he's riding.
15:19But he needs to shift that thing because Joe Shimoda has the pace going on.
15:22And this is a huge confidence for Joe to be able to close him in.
15:25And we're not even halfway yet.
15:27There's the early race leader, Jalik Swole, in the mechanics area.
15:30Good to see he did get back on the motorcycle.
15:32But it does look like his race is over.
15:34Crowd starting to respond as they jump back into the valley.
15:40And they realize Shimoda's here to fight for it.
15:44I like that line by Joe.
15:45It's a little bit slower.
15:46But as this race goes on, it's going to pay off.
15:50JT.
15:51Joe Shimoda, you see him here closing the gap.
15:53And he's got a couple of things working for him.
15:55You think back, Monsterage Supercross, who was the only guy to really get aggressive with Hayden Deegan and take the fight to him?
16:02That was Joe Shimoda.
16:03Look at those early rounds of pro motocross.
16:05He was the only guy that could keep him in sight.
16:07And he also knows that Hayden Deegan is less than 100%.
16:10All of that builds confidence.
16:12And that's going to help Joe Shimoda in the latter stages of this race.
16:15That's right, JT.
16:16Deegan took a handlebar to the leg two weeks ago at Red Buddies.
16:19Not a serious injury, but not quite perfect.
16:22And that could be a difference maker here.
16:25But halfway through, just a quick reminder, James, about 15 minutes to go.
16:30You can purchase Monster Energy at Fred Meyer.
16:32I don't know.
16:33What's going to happen in these final 15 minutes?
16:35Yeah, well, you just go back a week ago.
16:37Joe was able to do this the first moto last weekend.
16:39So him, he's getting that confidence to be able to run Hayden Deegan down, which is rare in itself.
16:45Joe's been able to do that two weeks in a row.
16:46But let's see if he learns from last weekend.
16:49Because when does he pass Hayden Deegan?
16:51He didn't drop the hammer.
16:52He wasn't able to get away.
16:53And we know how resilient Hayden is.
16:55You let that guy hang around.
16:57You see how mad he is.
16:58You see how loud that motorcycle is.
17:00He never gives up.
17:01There's that brand new 100-foot jump, like we said.
17:05That is more to the length of an NBA court.
17:08They jump it no problem.
17:09And the battle resumes.
17:17Great stuff.
17:20That's what they call Horsepower Hill.
17:21It's going to be a drag race to the top.
17:23What a great drone shot.
17:34Thanks, Chris Buck, giving us the realness of this.
17:37Pretty good.
17:38Now you can tell Hayden Deegan's starting to pick up the pace.
17:41I believe he was kind of waiting for Joe.
17:42He knows at one point, once he was only three seconds and it was starting to stabilize, he was not going to get away from him.
17:47We learned some of the old tricks from James Stewart every week on this show.
17:53Yeah, you've talked about that a lot.
17:54When you can't get away, you'll almost use a couple laps to rest to prepare for battle.
17:58You've got to prepare for it.
17:59You've got to have enough gas in the tank.
18:01So no point, you know how long the trip is.
18:03No point of running out of Petro.
18:07And what it does, not only are you resting your body, but it starts to upset the guy behind you.
18:13They start to get flustered because they're like, man, I caught this guy.
18:17All of a sudden, he started picking a pace.
18:19And what that puts Joe in, it makes him have to start picking his pace up.
18:23Now he gets out of that zone where he was really comfortable and he might make a mistake.
18:27Jason, we just saw it play out in that 450 class.
18:29That's exactly what was happening.
18:30Chase Exxon got out front.
18:32Gap stabilized.
18:33He knew Jet Lawrence was going there.
18:35And Jed ended up making a mistake.
18:36So as quickly as Joe got there, now Hayden's starting to pull away.
18:40And motocross, one of the most physically demanding sports.
18:43These riders are probably pulling 160, 180 heart rate for the whole 30 minutes.
18:47But how much of that is mental strategy, confidence waning and flowing throughout this battle?
18:54It's a lot.
18:55It's really mental.
18:56I mean, the whole story that we're talking about, Austin Forkner, you know, Jalik Swole,
19:01all these guys coming in.
19:02And Hayden has the confidence.
19:04And when you have confidence and belief in something, then these guys can rot.
19:08All of them are very talented.
19:10So for me, racing is a lot that comes down to mentally.
19:13And it is never about just going as fast as you can.
19:16It's a chess game out there.
19:18You're watching the best to do it play out in front of you.
19:20Bottom box is Levi Kitchen, the hometown native, looking to make a move on Mikkel Harup,
19:26the rider out of the Danish rider.
19:30And Kitchen, and they're battling hard.
19:33That was a nice pass.
19:34Serve him up.
19:35Serve him up.
19:37Problem for Kitchen again is the bad start.
19:40And his record at his home track.
19:43Jason Thomas mentioned top of the show he could actually ride his bike from his parents' house
19:48to the track.
19:49But his results here are mixed.
19:51Fifth overall last year.
19:53Sorry, in 2023.
19:55Sixth overall last year.
19:56The problem has been the first motos for Kitchen have been terrible.
20:00Second motos have been much better.
20:01He went 12-4 last year.
20:04And once again, he's fired at traffic at his home race in Moto 1.
20:08And Hayden Deegan beginning to reestablish the lead.
20:12At Washougal.
20:15And Shimoda, now three seconds back.
20:18Yeah, Hayden picked up the pace quite a bit on here.
20:21Now, see if Joe can run with him.
20:23He's been a little off on the pace as far as outright speed with Hayden Deegan.
20:30Deegan took a look back.
20:31Is that a good sign when you look back and you don't see the guy?
20:34Yeah, he wants to know if what he's doing is starting to work.
20:37Otherwise, we've got to go to our next check smooth.
20:42Doesn't need it yet.
20:43What's working for Deegan?
20:45See if he can keep it working all the way to the end.
20:47Watch out.
21:09Oh, my God.
21:39Oh, my God.
22:09Oh, my God.
22:39Oh, my God.
23:09Oh, my God.
23:39Oh, my God.
23:41Oh, my God.
23:43Oh, my God.
23:45Oh, my God.
23:47Oh, my God.
23:49Oh, my God.
23:51Oh, my God.
23:53Oh, my God.
23:55Oh, my God.
23:57Oh, my God.
23:59Oh, my God.
24:01Oh, my God.
24:03Oh, my God.
24:09Oh, my God.
24:11Oh, my God.
24:13Oh, my God.
24:15Oh, my God.
24:17Oh, my God.
24:19Oh, my God.
24:25Oh, my God.
24:27Oh, my God.
24:29up and he's going to jump on a 450 for a few days to try it out i want to get people too excited
24:35again it's probably not going to be until 2026 you see if race won this championship at least
24:40yeah there's there's no point of it besides exactly to keep people talking they know what
24:45they're doing up there but you know this is what i love about hayden deegan is joe now he's kind of
24:50dropped off the pace we saw quickly joe closed him hayden picked up that pace and as i was saying
24:55now you as a rider start getting flustered because you think you've caught this guy you'll be able to
24:59get him around hayden picks up that pace joe makes a few mistakes and he ran at 219 that last lap which
25:05is two seconds off his best lap time when hayden deegan the lap before ran his best time that's
25:11where this rider has got it figured out hayden that is is mentally he's getting it done
25:15now a big lead it is impressive how fast are both going in the lead they have but we still have to
25:22shout out this third place rider this would be the first ever podium moto finish for dylan schwartz
25:28out of alpine california season best is a seventh career best is a sixth but this has been brewing
25:36you see how the results have gotten better and at redbud he was in this position he actually had a rock
25:41stuck in the sprocket and drivetrain of the bike so that result at redbud two weeks ago was spoiled by
25:48that he's been riding well on the 44 the last couple of weekends and now it might pay off
25:53battle
25:55battle behind him march banks has taken fourth then it's fortner then it's voland and a great fight for
26:03that fourth fifth and sixth spot yeah and austin just got around voland too so great to see austin up
26:09in the top five and we we know his story it's been getting better and better throughout the year
26:14this motorcycle has gotten better and better good to see him up here he's going to have his hands full
26:19with seventh handmaker
26:20handmaker march banks they're all lurking right now march banks just ahead there's fortner got that
26:26neon yellow helmet on the triumph can he hold off voland on the 92 yeah that section's really
26:31slip we saw uh voland almost lose the front end and right behind him you got austin's teammate
26:37jordan smith good to see him up here starting to close that gap and this is what he needs he needs
26:42these guys to battle slow that pace down and maybe jordan can end up getting around all three of these
26:46guys for a top five
26:47so it's march banks ahead of these riders he's climbed to fourth then this 83 of fortner is fifth
26:56voland six hammock or seven with smith power up and fork they're running well again for triumph
27:04swole had that early lead he crashed out last week they had four of the top ten finishers on that team
27:09looking for three out of the top ten here
27:12they are definitely putting things together in their second year
27:16racing dirt bikes in america will
27:18i got to talk to jordan smith about that whole process a little bit earlier jason
27:23as we see them running in this top ten again and they were just extremely proud of their work
27:27they said the vibe there over at the team is great just seeing the progress and i asked about
27:31what the week looks like and he said we're making fairly bold changes but it's always let's figure
27:37it out let's decide are we running with this no let's get our motos done so he said the work's still
27:42there but they're trying lots of things and he said that sort of process that they figured out
27:46he attributed their success and how much they're moving forward to that he said because we don't go
27:51down an alley we don't sort of go down this path too far we say we're running with this and we
27:55don't if we are we make progress with that setting so that's been their strategy
27:59it certainly is by the way look at the graphics of the bike this is considered the military
28:05appreciation race so a lot of the bikes have a little bit different livery than usual that would
28:10be the case for march banks who we see has caught schwartz in a battle for third trying to take that
28:17first ever career podium moto finish away for the 44 yeah dylan's in trouble right now because if
28:24anybody on this racetrack has figured out how to pass people it's garrett marshbank our fastest
28:29qualifier earlier dylan's doing a good job but i think garrett either try to square him up nice
28:34line by him blocking him but garrett's gonna end up getting around he's been making that time and we
28:38know he has that pace but the starts have been a problem and it seems like every year every weekend
28:45we're talking about garrett coming up through the pack with the speed but it's always coming up
28:49through the back of the pack he has passed over 130 riders this season oh the 100 foot jump schwartz
28:56didn't clear it he came up short bounce the landing it's 100 foot he came up 99 and a half a little
29:02bounce and there you go garrett's made that pass now moves his way up into third but still a great
29:07ride by dylan to be in that top five and been strong this whole moto oh absolutely it's a building
29:14process for him and look he wants to get march banks back and maybe he can sit back and you
29:20know being up here he knows the pace i mean his lap times are pretty similar to uh garrett maybe he
29:26can find out some lines try to stick with him but it's gonna be hard to do with 36 he's in a role right
29:32now jt by the number 44 dylan schwartz unfortunately looks like he may be giving up that podium spot but
29:40but this is the building for a few weeks jason we think about that redbud nationally qualifies out of
29:45nowhere in the top three that was kind of the first sign and it's very rare that these riders will put
29:50in a result like this without signs of it beforehand you see him laboring a little bit he's probably
29:55been pushing harder this motor than he ever has before but this is kind of the culmination of progress
30:01that he's shown over multiple weeks and it's great look here for the 44.
30:04and the whole team jt the toyota redlands bar x yamaha squad got a couple other riders who have been
30:10putting in great results as well like the rookie parker ross who is running 12th right now so they're
30:16building something a team that have raced suzuki's for a long time now switch switching to yamaha this
30:21season and it's really taken them the bulk of the year to adjust to that motorcycle
30:25but to talk towards last week in minnesota much happier with the bike and it's showing as for
30:32march banks up ahead of him he's got the vibes cameron hayes who's the grand marshal this weekend a
30:37world-class bow hunter and he found out that march banks is a fan so march banks and eli tomac went out
30:44yesterday shot the bows in a real special ceremony in the center of the racetrack and uh hayes is
30:53pretty impressed at what march banks and tomac were able to do and march banks now up to a podium spot
30:58in third had the good vibes all weekend yeah dropping bows on people dropping bows out here
31:03i know who not if i'm stuck in the woods i want to hang out with garrett or eli they can be on their
31:07side yeah i want to be on their side march banks one previous career moto podium uh colorado moto one
31:16this year and again that was a day where he had not terrible starts i'd say medium starts and was able
31:23to take advantage of that then moto too had his problems march banks looking for the podium overall
31:28today yeah and that's crazy how good he's been riding only one uh you know podium and he's running
31:36third in the point so it shows you how consistent he has been but all these guys you asked me that
31:41question earlier is this mental and jason said it perfectly you got to start seeing those signs and
31:47then all of a sudden they pop up it's really comes down to mentally because these guys haven't just
31:51figured out how to go faster they're starting to believe in each other and what right now george
31:55smith is starting to believe that he can get that top five around his teammate because he's able to
32:00get around bowling and handmaker now he's right behind his teammate for sixth place yeah i think they're
32:06believing in the bike this is week after week you're seeing the triumphs in the top 10 now making
32:10advances toward the podium top five fortner fifth smith sixth that's them battling with the uh bright
32:18colors there on the bikes the 83 of the 19th and for the moment at least able to shed hamaker who'd be
32:28next in line on that green monster pro circuit kawasaki the 56. and now a lot of traffic for them to deal
32:34with and a reminder second motos coming up to watch it live on peacock or the smx video pass outside the
32:42united states yeah you see how quickly jordan ran into almost ran in the back of austin um in that
32:49corner it almost looks like he was going to run into him again i believe a lot of that was coming
32:53from roost he knows if you get really close to a rider the way they're tired the roots comes off the
32:58tire if you get close to him you actually get missed so i think george smith really confident
33:03he's able to catch austin he probably knows he's probably a little bit more in shape than austin
33:08because austin's been out and if anybody on the racetrack you want to beat you want to beat your
33:13teammate who's going to be the top triumph the triumphant triumph in this battle smith the veteran
33:20out of belmont north carolina but now all the triumph riders live in georgia ride train test the
33:25motorcycles together there unique things about motocross no simulators they're on the bikes
33:33during the week replicating this exact battle i bet you on a tuesday probably doesn't look much
33:37different yeah i like what jordan's doing he's going outsides and and not necessarily trying to
33:44pass him but he's trying to make austin think about where he's at and maybe austin make a mistake but
33:48nonetheless it's still a great round by the 83 out here running top five at the end of the moto
33:53george's gonna have his hands full but i believe if he gets close to him there's a couple places
33:58where he can he's a little bit quicker you might go to get his teammate got to use these lappers as
34:03almost like a pick and roll if you get close enough to him
34:09still time a lap and a half left hayden deegan has pulled away from joe shimota march banks getting
34:15away from schwartz leading leaving this battle as the closest in the top five
34:19to be huge for forkner if he can get that top five he hasn't had one
34:27since ironman in 2023 in a moto yeah when you talk about jordan smith and how fast he's been he's
34:34running the same lap times as the two leaders out front at 221s and that's really impressive
34:40thinking that he's been making passes and a little bit quicker than his teammate but austin's doing a
34:45great job and norm where jordan wants to go and blocking that line making a difference for him
34:54nowhere to go for smith in that corner no austin also no you just take a little break
35:01yep didn't have to hustle about one line section now about to head back up hill is skyway jump into
35:08the sand and let's see if jordan can get up he's got to stay close to him because i believe the way his
35:14lines are through the whoops running that outside he stays close to austin i think he'll be able to
35:19get around him with that more momentum by using that outside but austin's doing a great job at
35:23bridging that gap jordan's not close enough now let's see what he does here
35:29meanwhile joe shimoto's not close enough anymore either hayden deegan to look over his left shoulder
35:35to make sure he has running room the dominant champion last year the dominant series leader this year
35:44at a track that he's never lost on he'll be back for moto two today in about an hour to try to keep
35:51that streak alive you can watch that on peacock as for the nbc show danger boy the sensation delivering
35:57again yeah this gap has been about five seconds this whole moto and i like what joe's doing because
36:05even though he's got 20 seconds between him and and garrett marksman push hayden towards the end like
36:11you know if you slow down then hayden's going to start wrestling for that second moto so just
36:15you might as well keep pushing it especially if you believe in your fitness and we know how strong
36:19joe has been in these second moto just continue to push him you know you're not going to beat him
36:23but you're going to keep pushing him for that next race and you never know what's going to happen
36:27he wins this moto deegan will tie none other than eli tomac for 11th all time
36:36in career moto wins in this 250 class would be the 23rd moto win of his career
36:41and if he continues to win at this clip he's only 19 to become the third winningest teenager
36:52in this class of the history this sport behind oldie you're in there again james
36:56you and our colleague ricky carmichael he can't catch you i got him yep i got him he's gonna gonna
37:02run out of teenage years before you get that's right yeah even if he did come back to the 256 year it'd be
37:0920 so that record is undoable unstewable it's unstewable that record is going to be undoable for sure
37:18but he's definitely the best of today hayden deegan another moto win in route
37:25saluted by the fans here at washugal
37:30danger boy hayden deegan wins model one
37:33joe shimota pushed it halfway through the race he got to the rear wheel of deegan
37:41but couldn't hang there and he will take second on the honda
37:47and another one for the monster energy yamaha star racing team
37:51deegan's headed to the podium we will chat with him next
