01:42would it be the OSA Walker having to rectify every single sign of weakness?

03:02David Finley has really had, Chris, I mean, the lack thereof talking about this person and that person may be coming after me.
03:10And it was Finley who said himself in the press conference, the only thing that keeps him on top is triumph.
03:16If he cannot triumph in this year's tournament, where does that leave David Finley in the great history of boy club leaders?
03:23That is the question Finley has posed to us.
03:25Yeah, even David Finley proposing the idea he might go down in history like all the other hit leaders of Bullet Club.
03:32That is to say with a knife in their back.
03:35That was always something that David Finley had said since day one wouldn't happen to him.
03:41That he would destroy Bullet Club before Bullet Club destroyed him.
03:45But David Finley, well, he's on the blink of oblivion, so to speak, right now.
03:50And that is why it is absolutely crucial, absolutely crucial he win G1 Climax 35.
03:57It felt like Walker's so long since we even had Finley's name in the loss column.
04:24But that has been the case in his last three singles matches.
04:28He's dropped his last three.
04:29And that is a rare, uncomfortable and unpleasant position for David Finley to be in.
04:35It was Hiroki Goto in Rio Goki, Zack Sabre Jr. in Chicago.
04:52And then, of course, at Dominion Evil, three defeats in David Finley's last three matches.
05:00In the meantime, Ryohei Oewa beating a former G1 Climax winner to get his spot here this year, defeating Satoshi Kojima.
05:08But albeit, Ryohei Oewa will admit hit this himself, and it is a driving force for him in this tournament.
05:14I mean, finding a lot of loss in high-profile situations and GW World Television title matches, never openweight championship matches and the like.
05:23Yeah, I mean, he came back into New Japan in September from being on loan in NOAH and instantly sort of worked his way into these positions.
05:35And you can kind of think, well, his first singles match was against Shingo Takagi, right, never openweight championship by Slamdreak.
05:42And he lost then, and you kind of look past that young man losing his first against a great champion.
05:49There's only so many times it's like, well, yeah, he lost, but he lost to a great guy.
05:54But then that means you're not a great guy, right?
05:56I mean, Ryohei Oewa has to establish himself as one of the greats in this tournament as well.
06:01That's why this match is so important, let alone the tournament.
06:03I mean, you can almost consider a dark horse pick, Ryohei Oewa in G1 Climax 35.
06:11As it is a first-time singles match here tonight, David Finlay and Ryohei Oewa have never shared a ring in singles competition before.
06:25It is David Finlay who looks to take advantage early on, and it's Ryohei Oewa with the power advantage.
06:33They do not discount, certainly, Finlay gives up size to the Ryohei Oewa, but he doesn't give up a bit in strength.
06:39David Finlay, pound for pound, the strongest wrestler in New Japan.
06:44And Finlay hung up.
06:45And watch it now, Russian Blank Suite plants down the grip.
06:50These two having never stepped against one another in one-on-one competition is one thing.
07:03They've actually teamed together about four different times prior to Oewa's excursion.
07:07And, of course, a very different David Finlay Jr. by that point in his career.
07:11That's true, yeah.
07:12Yeah, David Finlay used to be a fun-loving individual when he was on the Hontai side.
07:19Took life very, very lightly, maybe a little bit too lightly.
07:23What you got?
07:24It wasn't until Gedo got in the air with Finlay and told him to stab Switchblade Jay White in the back.
07:31It wasn't until then that we really, truly saw the killer instinct.
07:35That Finlay DNA that came out of the Rebel at that point in 2023.
07:45And, you know, Finlay's going to look at that nice cover and then scurfing Oewa,
07:51driving that forearm, the blade of that forearm into the cheekbone of Oewa there as he forced to kick out.
07:58I mean, the old saying goes, Walker clocks to clocks in three generations.
08:02David Finlay's on his fourth, and I think the Finlay family is stronger than they've ever been.
08:07If Finlay can win G1 Climax.
08:16David Finlay has set in a strong, strong mission statement to win New Japan Cup and G1 Climax.
08:23Back-to-back cover fights, too, for David Finlay.
08:26Nobody's ever done it in the same year.
08:32And not to mention, Chris, I mean, David Finlay came very, very close last year up into that, what was it, semi-final matchup against Yota Tsuji?
08:41Yeah.
08:41Yeah, you're right.
08:42Ever since then, David Finlay was convinced to, convinced himself to right every wrong.
08:54And every single loss, he said, was a sign of weakness.
08:57I have to correct that.
08:58And correct it, everyone, except Yota Tsuji.
09:01And we'll face later on in this tournament.
09:03Yota Tsuji!
09:04Yota Tsuji!
09:04Wow, dropkick there out of Rio Hale-Oiwa.
09:13Tough landing for Oiwa on the dropkick.
09:15Even tougher, though, for David Finlay, who's going to take the brunt of that right on the jaw.
09:19Come on, brother!
09:27Yeah, good point.
09:28I think he landed quite heavily on that left hip and executing that dropkick.
09:32Maybe not an ideal landing.
09:33Going to try and shrug it off.
09:35Here we go.
09:36Tenzan Suplex.
09:38Denied.
09:41David Finlay.
09:42There's that power game we were talking about.
09:44Only lasting so long.
09:53Again, as he hit that Suplex, and again, you're seeing it.
09:56That was a bad landing on that dropkick.
09:59No doubt about it.
10:00He made a very good point to point it out when it happened, because that is hurting Rio Hale-Oiwa right now.
10:08Yeah, I mean, hoisted on his own sword, so to say, is Rio Hale-Oiwa right now.
10:12And still, that sword's going to keep stabbing through.
10:15The Savage King, the rebel savior, David Finlay.
10:17Finlay, meanwhile, still going to hold on to that top rope.
10:25That's one way to try and create separation.
10:27David still Finlay onto that top rope.
10:30Not giving an inch here.
10:31Oh.
10:37And a fire.
10:40Oiwa lured him into a mistake.
10:43Cactus clothesline.
10:44That's not going to do good on your hip.
10:45And I think Oiwa's head, Walker, cracked the steel guardrail on the way down.
10:50Yeah, that's what it looked like.
10:51And Oiwa certainly seeing those stars right now, those lights up top here at Hawkeye Kieta Yale.
10:56You're in that position where you're an athlete like Oiwa.
11:10Young man knows how important this tournament is.
11:16Oh, man.
11:17Oh, all the way through.
11:22Again, that hip.
11:23Again, that lower back.
11:24You're in that position.
11:27Your man will stay as Oiwa as a young athlete who knows how important this is, the pressure you're under.
11:33And you might not be able to go anymore.
11:35And this is only after a match one.
11:37I'm starting to get worried whether there isn't some internal damage to the kidneys of Oiwa Walker.
11:43Yeah, David Finlay has put his sight right on top of it here tonight, too.
11:46We know just how detrimental to any opponent's game plan.
11:51David Finlay's strength can be often underestimated in that way.
11:56Not only that, but that means that Oiwa's strength is now negated.
12:00Yeah, limited for certain.
12:01Finlay.
12:02Dominator.
12:02Oh, man.
12:04Mid-section of canvas.
12:05Cover on cover.
12:06And it's two.
12:15You see, every single move, a referee, Kenta Sato, is stepping in, asking Oiwa, do you want me to stop it?
12:22Are you sure you're okay?
12:23Oiwa will continue.
12:25Yep.
12:25But he will aggravate that injury in doing so.
12:28Nice.
12:29Oiwa jackknife.
12:30Cover, two.
12:31That, to me, what Oiwa has to do, has to go to that training he learned from Yoshinori Ogawa and Noah.
12:36Find the surprise.
12:37Yes.
12:37Set the cover in.
12:38Yes.
12:38Oh, just two.
12:42And Oiwa one more time.
12:45Flattened on that DDT has been David Finlay.
12:48And still Oiwa going to grab right back to that left side.
12:52DDT was not a great call right there offensively.
12:55because that meant he landed straight back onto that back.
13:00I mean, this is one where you have to watch the injured list, I'm sure.
13:04He's going to be straight out the back of the curtain, win, lose, or draw, and straight to the trainer's room.
13:11And the, well, the line goes ever longer all the way through the tour outside the trainer's room.
13:17And I think the first victim is going to be Oiwa.
13:22Oh, nice.
13:25Yank that arm out of its socket.
13:28And original Irish grip, the true essence of what that move means.
13:37It's a move designed to pull the arm, the shoulder out of the socket.
13:41And that is the setup to the arc clutch, Walker.
13:43Well, that arc clutch going to be locked in here for Ryohei Oiwa.
13:47And David Finlay, wow, slips out over the top here and wants to hold that sleeper in.
13:53You know, Oiwa fond of the sleeper himself.
13:56They find the cutest of tricks out of it.
13:58And that's exactly what we see here.
14:00Finlay, though, powered.
14:02And look where the target has landed.
14:07Ryohei Oiwa to that left side one more time.
14:10That's going to affect the breathing and, well, a lot more than that for Oiwa here.
14:14Now, Finlay, sensing blood in the water when it comes to Oiwa.
14:35And Finlay, this isn't like hands behind the back deering him to lure him in like we saw with Umino.
15:01And Eo Pero, this is that lower back hurting him so badly.

17:45but might have gotten enough to get Finley off his back and hit the grip.
17:54The grip.
17:56The grip lands it.
17:58Oyowa on the cover on Finley for two points.
18:02He's done it.
18:0313分10秒,Oyowa,Riohaen選手の試合です。
18:33We're gonna have to keep her close, close eye on this condition because there is no doubt in my mind that Ryohei Oyowa is hurt and hurt back.
18:46And I have no idea what's hurting more of the left side of Ryohei Oyowa or the fragile ego of David Finley.
18:53That is a dire, dire result.
18:56After walking in 0-3 in singles competition for G1 Climax 35.
19:01Now turned 0-4.
19:03David Finley 0 wins on the board so far in this tournament.
19:07And he has to face one of the men that's put him in this situation next,Sanata.
19:12Coming up tomorrow.
19:26And for Oyowa Walker,And you think you've got a bad back, you're banged up inside,Who's the last person you want to see?
19:36Poltin Oleg.
19:37Oh my days.
19:40Every single lesson Yoshinari Ogawa taught you in the NOAH ring.
19:48Everything Zack Sabre Jr. taught you in TMDK.
19:52Put it all to get loose,Sanata because you've got the big man from Kazakhstan tomorrow afternoon.
20:00And speaking of a match situation,it is Block B action.
20:04Coming up now,Gabe Kidd takes on Konosuke Sikeshda.
20:08I can't wait.
20:08Oh buddy.
